City Advent Calendar: Day 2
Posted by CapnRex101,
City Advent Calendars always include a selection of minifigures occupying different roles, some of which seem to appear annually. Today's offering is one such character but represents an excellent accompaniment for yesterday's toy train.
This snowboarding minifigure consists of common pieces but looks great, wearing a bright green coat and dark azure trousers as well as a helmet. I like the freckles on his face and the printing on both sides of the torso is impressively detailed, as is the moulding on top of the helmet. Snowboarders and skiers often appear in LEGO Advent Calendars but this is no bad thing as they are appropriate for the season and offer considerable play value.
The most interesting aspect of this gift is perhaps the flame yellowish orange snowboard which is fairly rare, having only appeared in four sets before now. Oddly, this is only the second time it has actually represented a snowboard as the element forms a rear spoiler in 75909 McLaren P1 and a snowplough in 76063 Mighty Micros: The Flash vs. Captain Cold!
Overall - 3.5 - This minifigure consists of familiar pieces but looks great and is ideal for play so makes a welcome addition to the 2017 calendar.

Every time I see LEGO snowboards, it just reminds me of set 3538 from the Sports theme, and how much I regret being in my dark ages at the time! Hope they return to the Sports theme again in future.
Really great minifigure in my opinion, I would give it a 5/5 to be honest.
I mean I was expecting something different since I have the one of the older calendars and I think apart from the colour of the legs and obviously the snowboard, the Minifigure is the same
parr of the reason i get the city Advent Calendar is the minifigs that will fill up my winter village setup. This one is great.
Stop posting these reviews and spoiling it before I can pop mine open...lol. I can’t visit brickset anymore in the morning during breakfast.
@Mike T-Bricker - We are not publishing images of the gifts before the break in order to avoid spoilers. I suggest not reading the article before you have opened your Advent Calendar.
@CapnRex101 good review, but please don't tell us it's a minifigure in the text that appears on the front page! If you're going to go non-spoiler, go all the way!
@JonMarten - It's quite difficult to come up with something to write before the break without making abstract reference to the gift. Nevertheless, I see your point so will do my best to avoid giving anything away.
@CapnRex101 fact of the day? :p Nah, I get your point, it must be tough! Appreciate it, though, thanks :)
