Nuremberg Toy Fair summary
Posted by CapnRex101,
The annual Nuremberg Toy Fair has proven to be a very valuable source for images of sets being released during the spring and summer in previous years.
Unfortunately, such reporting was restricted this year but we have still learned a great deal about what is to come thanks to the efforts of Andres from Zusammengebaut and Christian and Michael from PromoBricks. We have compiled information about upcoming sets from Architecture, Technic, The LEGO NINJAGO Movie and several other themes below...
Architecture
BrickHeadz
- 41597 Go Brick Me - Based upon its name, I imagine this set will contain a selection of generic BrickHeadz pieces, allowing you to build a model of yourself.
City
- Two new trains will be released and they each include a new Power Functions system.
Creator
- 31084 Pirates' Rollercoaster - 79.99€
Friends
- 41347 Heartlake City Resort - This set will cost 99.99€ and includes an elevated rail.
Jurassic World
- Images of three new sets were revealed and can be viewed here.
Technic
- 42080 Forest Harvester - 129.99€
- 42081 Volvo Autonomous Loader - 119.99€
- 42082 Rough Terrain Crane - Andres at Zusammengebaut reports that this set will contain 4057 pieces, making it the largest Technic set to date! It will cost 229.99€.
- 42083 Bugatti Chiron - This set contains 3599 pieces and will be released on the 1st of August. LEGO published a teaser image on their social media channels earlier today.
The LEGO NINJAGO Movie
- 70657 NINJAGO City Port - We do not yet know how many pieces this set contains but it will cost 229.99€ and will be available in June. Zusammengebaut has confirmed that the model connects to 70620 NINJAGO City via Technic pins and that it is a completely enclosed building.
We will continue to update this article as further information emerges. Many thanks to both PromoBricks and Zusammengebaut for their coverage!

I don't have Ninjago City so I probably won't get sucked into getting Ninjago City Port (Ninjago City Starboard is a future add-on?). Of course I like many am interested in exactly how the Pirates Rollercoaster shapes up , because it'll need to contain quite a few Rollercoaster track pieces.
The set that actually most interests me is the Technic Rough Terrain Crane - because it's unbranded (it seems) that must be why the price seems quite fair considering the quantity of pieces. I wonder how it'll compare in size to the BWE?
Another thing that intrigues me is how long they'll make the Great Wall of China in Architecture - it definitely lends itself to being a thin but long model and hopefully it includes some undulating ground and/or vegetation.
Sounds like Ninjago City Port will be the warehouse where they keep the mechs, then, possibly with the high school on top. And maybe mini mechs a la Sea Cow Metalbeard?
*sigh* When will LEGO ever make a new CCBS theme...
Statue of Liberty sounds very interesting!
will there be more pictures than the 3 new sets that were already leaked? otherwise, what's the point if all showcased models but 3 have already been released?
Power Functions 2.0 is coming. Wifi? Bluetooth?
Statue of liberty would sound more interesting if it were a $400 - $500 set to update the previous one :)
Super psyched for Ninjago City Port, although my wallet isn't so excited, and I'm sure my wife won't be when I break the news. Oh well, plenty of time to start saving! The Pirates Rollercoaster images that I've seen look good and the price doesn't seem bad compared to its' size. Lots to be excited about in the world of LEGO!
Pirates rollercoaster is day one buy for me and I really like its design as being basically made of miniaturised parts of initial lego theme. Small black barracuda, small fortress... great idea and for me beautiful reference to playsets I loved.
Ninjago became my most favorite theme with great ship, incredible lego city so I hope they continue streak with port. I got city for full price and never regretted.
I love technics but Porsche was huge letdown for me with poor functions and it seemed whole their budget went to branding. I skipped it even it was on 50% discount as too big with too litle technics. I hope Bugatti will be better.
...and NFC? https://twitter.com/Zusammengebaut/status/958324966470176769/photo/1?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Fzusammengebaut.com%2Flive-ticker-lego-news-nuremberg-toy-fair-2018-43625%2F
Sorry for overloading your great site, Zusammengebaut!
If the info about the Brickheadz set is correct, I will be a buyer of that one! Maybe even multiples!
These seem like some very exciting sets! Still dubious about the rollercoaster as I feel like it'll be a bit small for the price, but I'm willing to be proven wrong!
The Pirate Coaster has the same track layout as the Joker Manor but in light grey instead. It's a fine set but $80-$100... ehh.
People are actually buying Brickheads? That seems to be the biggest news I got today.
Yes, people are actually buying Brickheadz! I love them!
LEGO should release a set like 41597 Go Brick Me, but make it for the LEGO fans who hate Brickheadz. They could call it, Go Brick Yourself.
Damnit! I just got the Bucket Wheel Excavator last year and there is already going to be a new, BIGGEST Technic set? I guess I will have to wait for pictures and reviews of this new bad boy to see if more pieces results in a set more impressive than the BWE.
hothbricks has a great photo of the ninjago city port set - it looks amazing
Hothbricks has picture from ninjago movie book. There was no ninjago docs leak so far, which is not surprising as it is d2c set so not disclosed to customers.
Btw great wall and statue of liberty are funny with same sand biege and green colours, like they are two forms of same lego set :)
Pictures of the new Technic sets are out there. Easy Google image search. New architecture sets out, too.
I'm intrigued by the Great Wall of China. Also that Pirates rollercoaster sounds interesting. It makes me think of that Pirates chess game from a few years ago.
One picture. Three helicopters. Yay.
/sarcasm
Weird situation this year, not only concerning LEGO but also other toy related companies/franchises like TMNT for example. The whole secrecy and stuff makes me wonder if this will continue in the same way from now on.
On the positive side, I may actually pick up a LEGO catalogue and find something surprising once again like back in the 90's xD
Gimmie some HARRY POTTER news!!!
I was hoping Ninjago Docks would be like those pictures, but a totally enclosed building sounds unlikely. Still keeping my fingers crossed.
The Ninjago Docks sound tempting but I am really close to buy a place to build a home.
Looks like Zusammengebaut has some prices on the new Star Wars sets:
Anakins Jedi Starfighter 75214 29.99 Euro
Snoke Throne Room 69.99 75216 Euro
X-Wing 99.99 75218 Euro
Sandscrawler 75220 129.99 Euro
No Solo sets apparently; I'm guessing the remaining Summer sets are also Solo?
Jeez. Will lego ever cast a new dinosaur mold? I'm actually kind of sick of seeing t-rexes and velociraptors.
Yeah but that baby dino mold is super cute
Lego made a new mold for the last JW, so do they ever cast a new mold? Yeah, three years ago, the last time they did a dino theme. Also I think the super big museum set has a new dino in it.
Can't believe they are actually releasing an architecture The Great Wall set, expected something like this for years so excited. And don't we already have a Shanghai this year now another set oriented from China??? This is something LEGO would never had done in past. China is indeed becoming one of the biggest market despite low popularity just a few years ago.
A PIRATES ROLLERCOASTER IN CREATOR!!!
Rough terrain crane sounds interesting but 4057 pieces... makes me wonder how big it is and how it would look like
More Ninjago Movie sets? I didn't realize it had enough momentum to warrant a third wave, especially after the movie's reception.
MW449, we aren't getting another wave of NinjaGo Movie, it's just one $300 set.
@Daniel.H sadly I think the failure of Bionicle G2 has turned them off it-Star Wars is probably all anyone can look forward to at present.
I'm looking forward to Ninjago City Port but I don't know if I'll get it, Season 9 is apparently the last season of the show, based on one of the artists' tweets so I'll probably pick up a lot of the wave, and I'm going to get all the new HP sets+minifigs sans the $500 Hogwarts. I don't know if I'll have enough for it!
Im worried the new power functions will require a app instead of including a controller like the batmobile.
