Our friends over at Zusammengebaut have uncovered images of 21042 Statue of Liberty at German store Alternate.

The iconic structure in New York harbour, gifted to the people of the USA by the French in the 1880s, has appeared in LEGO form many times before, from the 2882-piece sculpture released in 2002 to the rather ridiculous looking pick-a-model available in NY brand stores. There's even been a minifig.

My particular favourite, however, is the one that appeared in Factory set 5526 Skyline. The new version looks to be much the same scale as this, but far more refined and detailed.

The 1685-piece set will cost €100 in Germany when released in June.

Excellent - I'll be getting this one.

By in Australia,

I've only ever bought myself one other architecture set - the Eiffel tower - might have to add this one to the collection too.

By in Canada,

Using that hairpiece for the fire was an incredible choice!

It'll be interesting to see how people feel about the facelessness of this statue.

Wow! That is a lot bigger than I was expecting. I was hesitant when I saw the statue, but studying a little more it looks pretty good, and understand the choices and techniques used. The pedestal looks just amazing. Might have to see it built first before I buy. You neglected to mention Statue of Liberty has also featured in the Architecture 21028 New York City as a nanofigure.

@ thisisteekay I think the piece they chose for the face was a good one - I certainly wouldn't have thought of that one. I think if they had tried to build a face at that scale it would look too cartoonish for the Architecture series. And a printed face on that piece would be far too distracting and completely destroy the look of the whole model in my opinion. I like what they went with.

By in Ireland,

Good part count for the price - could be a nice parts pack assuming not too many teeny pieces. Mostly in sand green and tan too!

Looks great, will be definitely taking on a second job and second mortgage this year to pay for all these great sets! ??

Great! You know, I like the way the head and face were done.

By in United States,

I may have to buy my first architecture set...

By in United Kingdom,

Think this might be the best version they've done so far

By in Germany,

Now this looks very impressive!

By in Germany,

It's a good model except for the face. The folds in the garment are especially nice.

By in New Zealand,

Looks like the statue is a candle melting.
Very Nice pedestal though.

By in United States,

Now this is a true work of art. Absolutely beautiful.

By in United Kingdom,

Me likey very much..

By in Canada,

This looks more Creator than Architecture. Very disappointed that this was chosen as the “large” release this year when there are many other options out there.

By in Canada,

Looks great, except the face.

@kolaxanthe I totally agree!

This looks absolutely fantastic! This could be one of my favorite sets ever! It’s a great parts pack too with all those sand green pieces

100 Euro in Germany? The Capitol is 100 Euro and 130 CAD. I hope this set is 130 CAD.

Y'all citizens of the US will have to check how much the Capitol is to get a sense of how much the Statue of Liberty will cost in freedom moneys.

By in United States,

Why would LEGO do that? Also the Statue was built by the French.

By in Norway,

@That_guy8: Why should they? Is there anything in the text presuming they’re EU only? Normally it’s the other way.

By in United States,

Nice.

Let's just hope Magneto doesn't hijack it.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'd get it but I don't have much money.

By in United Kingdom,

Maybe Ray, Winston, peter & Egon can make it walk round new york, slime cannons sold separately lol..

Or maybe nuclear man could pick it up & throw it at superman ??.. S4 (quest for peace)

That face is awful. They should have molded or at least printed something. The rest looks really great, though. That face--maybe they could have used something from one of the constraction line. Even just using Rey's head but molded in green would have worked alright.

By in Germany,

Hate the face, love the rest. Will definitely get this and mod a different face. The Nexo Knights shield piece is hideous for a "face".

Gravatar
By in United States,

The face and neck kill it for me. The rest looks really good and I love the pedestal. I don’t really have a better idea for the face either though.

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

Same here with the face.

Why use so much detail and stile in the model, then BAM plate-face, how could that be okay ?
There must have / be a better option for that.
Almost makes me not want to buy the set because of the face :-/

By in Japan,

I really like this set. I only have 2 other sets from this series, and I think this looks very nice. I also purchased the very large model when it came out in 2002. It was displayed in my house for many years until I finally took it apart. I even built a base out of parts from my very large mini figure set.

By in United Kingdom,

Made From Both Of My Favorite Element Colors :)
I Will Definitely Be Getting More Than 1

By in Canada,

Can't wait for this! Looks great!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Love that base. Very accurate for this size of kit.
Clever with the mimicking of the folds but not crazy about the neck and wish the arm has a slight bend in it and more of a 'hand' holding the torch. Looks too stiff/straight but still a nice display model.

By in Netherlands,

This set looks marvelous and 1685 pieces for €100 sounds like a good deal!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Wow! This looks stunning! Bet it's a fun build too.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Nice base but with almost 1700 pieces and using a nexo shield for the face? I will easily pass on this one.
