Three LEGO Movie 2 sets revealed
Posted by Huw,
Ahead of next weekend's San Diego Comic Con, LEGO has just published pictures of three The LEGO Movie 2 sets on social media.
No names, set numbers or anything else have been provided but you can view nice large images of them after the break.
Let us know what you think of them in the comments.
This one seems to give one of the major plot lines away a bit...

Amazing. They look phenomenal like the first film's sets. And it looks like minifigs and minidolls can coexist!
I'm loving the brick-built Duplo enemy, Uni-Kitty's growth spurt, that spaceship design, and Emmett's sand-blue Mad Max car.
I like the look of these. Good stuff!
Minidolls and minifigs in the same set...
AWESOME!
ALSO dual molded legs for Wildstyle/Lucy
New molds for the star and the heart!
I hope the car has the printed lights on the back!
Unikitty looks amazing!
GAAH TOO MUCH!
Just seen them on zusammengebaut.com, Yes too all three lego, especially the space ship and minidoll set.. Love it:
They Look good. I love the little duplo brick :)
So. Much. Want.
Damn you LEGO!!!! That's all my money gone next year aswell!!! ?????? These are awesome (Sorry, Not Sorry) especially the big Mad Max style car!!! Bring on 2019!!!! ????????????
Again the LEGO movie makes amazing sets! Love the exaggerated stylistic way...
I love the scarf! And it's super interesting as others have said that they're combining Mini-dolls and minifigures in the sets!
I wonder if Super Saiyan Unikitty has a second, angrier expression like the SDCC exclusive versionof her
Honestly not that excited for these sets. I might get the Unikitty set if it isn't that much. I could see myself getting the spaceship set on clearance or something. That truck is a definite no....
Hmm I'm actually not feeling these all too much. They're all one single build with 2-3 minifigures.. and a LOT of Lucy and Emmet, and if that's the case this time around I can't see myself buying many sets :(
Is that a 5 stud wide brick used for Unikitty's face?
Erm question whut happend to metal beard?
I'm assuming it's a spoiler to see who's under that mask?
@thisisteekay: Yes, it really looks like it is a five stud brick. See the clearly three stud plate and two stud plate on the bottom?
These look fantastic! Great parts, great builds, and great figs!
I like the monster truck and the incredibly angry Unikitty.
I'm not a fan of that spaceship though. I think it's all the large parts used.
A NEW STAR PIECE IN THE MAD MAX LOOKING CAR AND THE MINIDOLL'S SPACESHIP?!?!
My god the Unikitty looks fantastic!
I love the orb ship! I think it looks fantastic.
Man these look fantastic! The weakest is probably the truck, mostly 'cuase it looks like they've scaled it down from the trailer (but that might just be the new angle.) The strongest is probably that Unikitty (whom I have dubbed "Unilion.") A shame the DUPLO build isn't actually DUPLO, if you're gonna add a Minidoll you might as well go all out!
Why can't these people just design ALL the Lego sets?
UniKitty Supersized!
Money, it's been fun. But you've got to go!
At first I thought that the Unikitty face was a printed Duplo brick which would have been funny but thinking about it more it'd have been somewhat impractical. Also, it looks like the duplo monster is system built, is that right?
Love the spaceship! (obviously ;)
Unikitty looks awesome
Not a big fan of the car, but two our of three ain't bad !
Loving the pod.
And after appearing with Cole's Quake Mech, I was wondering what else they were planning for those oversized wheels.
Should have used Duplo pieces. I wonder why they didn't.
These are some really fun looking sets. Makes me more excited for the movie!
Yes! I love the over-the-top ridiculousness of these. Metalbeard's Sea Cow from the first movie will always be in my top 5, so I hope they make another big weird awesome set for the sequel.
Unikitty looks like a Nergigante from Monster Hunter, which is pretty cool.
Called it on two of those. lol. Love the Alien Space Ship and the 'Angry Battle Kitty'. Not sure about the car, its the weakest of the 3 for me... though do like the post apocalypse guy.
edit: Checked the Lego facebook page, they seem to be calling the big Unikitty, 'Ultrakitty'.
There is only one thing to say about this,
Awesome!!!!!
Nice to see spring suspension rather than rubber bands on the truck.
Holy crap these look awesome. Really digging the post apocalyptic vibe of this one, as it really distinguishes the second movie from both the original and the spinoffs. Looking forward to clear look at Apocalypseburge Batman!
Edit: Also, anyone know if Robin will be in this? Kinda hoping he will just to see what they do with him.
Brickjournal has set names and numbers for the three sets:
70827 – Ultrakatty & Warrior Lucy!
70829 – Emmet and Lucy’s Escape Buggy
70830- Sweet Mayhem’s Systar Starship!
How has no one started gushing over all the T E A L in the pod set?!?!
I wondered how they were going to bring Duplo into it. Well done.
I love that the "Duplo" monster is actually regular bricks. Also, wierd seeing emmet without the ever-present piece of resistance.
I agree with everyone else, Unikitty 2.0 looks truly brilliant
Oh LEGO! Foul temptress!!!!!!!!
@CaptainRogers
I think it's Wyldstyle's car. The colours on the exhaust and the 'WS' on the front make me think it's hers.
Everything looks AWESOME! Can't wait to see the movie!
Am I the only one who thinks Unikitty's new form look like something out of Legends of Chima?
Hmm why are the studs hollow on the car / truck? The red studs look hollow... maybe upside down new tile piece?
Here I was thinking I wouldn't spend on his wave but that ship is interesting as are the Mad Max Car and the Lion Kitty with the "Duplo" enemies. I may need to prioritize some but I see the hearts and stars are shared between sets. Probably get the car and Ship depending on what is shown next and Metalbeard looks different (he must have done something with the beard) as the other rage dude.
So much teal! Metalbeard really has seen better days, hasn't he? Absolutely love the space ship and the white/sparkle-trans dual moulding on the minidoll.
So, based on this, I'm guessing that the plot involves Finn's sister influencing Emmet's world, first with the Duplo aliens as a toddler, then, with the minidolls as she gets older. The "apocalyptic" setting may imply that Finn has become a teen and is no longer interested in Lego (entered his "Dark Ages", as AFOLs like to say).
Speaking of which, if you're a teenager and still playing with Lego, as a crusty old AFOL, I think you should probably step away from it for a while. You should spend your teenage years doing fun things like getting involved in extracurricular activities, going to house parties, building a bunch of lifelong friendships, getting into a great university and getting good grades, maybe rushing a nice Greek organization, and more. The bricks will still be here when you're ready to get back into it.
Well, for certain, this will certainly be one theme I'll want to collect next year as I've always like the Lego Movie and I think these sets are on par with if not surpassing the ones from the first Lego Movie. I'll definitely be wanting all three of these, as all of these are very unique and have some repeats, even though there's a lot of repeats of Emmet and Lucy, but those are the main characters, so it makes perfect sense to have these figures repeated. So far, the truck set appeals to me the least, but I think that's because the other sets look so good and the truck looks big, bulky, and seems a bit familiar...
@Lyichir, thanks: https://brickset.com/sets/theme-The-LEGO-Movie-2/year-2019
@CopperTablet
As a younger teenager, I spend time with my friends mostly at school, while sometimes showing up to do fun things outside of that. I still build with lego once in a while during my free time at home.
I do not think it is impossible to balance both Lego and a social life, because even big Lego TFOLs don’t build so much that it becomes a problem.
Not interested in any of the sets but I hope the space man's head is not a single piece but a helmet over a mini doll head. I'd love a helmet like that.
Here are my thoughts on new sets. The Unikitty looks cute, though I have never been one to buy sets just because there cute. New Wildstyle Is great, and the brick built Duplo is my favorite part of the set. This will be? a nice set for kids but easy pass for me. Mad Max truck looks ok, love the new figure, reminds me of the late 2000's era a bit. I wish the truck looked better, the big wheels make it look ugly, I wish they would have gone full apocalyptic and had no big wheels, more gritty feeling. Rest of the truck is fine. The new Spaceship is my favorite if the 3. I love the inclusion of both minifigures and mini? dolls. I also love space sets and this is the first none Star Wars one since the first Lego Movie. Hoping for a really nice interior. Overall nice group to a hopefully also theme. Love the clash of the apocalyptic sets and space sets so far and hope it continues.
I believe that the Sweet Mayhem spaceship would costs either &14.99 or $19.99.
Also there should be a CMF series like the previous LEGO Movie theme.
@JeagerEx - I was thinking $60+ for the spaceship, but I'm happy to be proved wrong.
Love them! Must Have!
I hope that Green Lantern will make an appearance in a set as he is listed on the cast. Did anyone notice that the truck has springs on the bottom?
Take my money now.
Odd how the spaceship is bigger than it seems to look in the trailer - most LEGO sets of vehicles that are resized are made smaller.
@JeagerEX There probably is going to be a CMF Series, as every previous (theatrical) LEGO movie has gotten one.
@Trigger_ I dearly hope so. The first Lego movie series and both the Batman series were amazing. Ninjago was nothing special.
Ok taking a second look at the villains helmet from the spaceship set makes me curious and hopefull. Hoping that the antennae on the side of the helmet come off because that helmet is perfect for a Rocketeer minifigure.
@Brickalili Yep, there's a real angry teeth a flaring face and another cutesy face (3 in total).
@Khscarymovie In my opinion the truck has to have giant wheels, but I’m biased because I have a son who loves every monster truck set.
This is cool, but I feel like it doesn’t carry on with one of the things that made the original LEGO Movie sets so special (pun obviously intended): having both sides of the fight. You only get one side of the battle with these sets. Even LEGO throwing in a small micro manager in the old sets made for so many more possibilities. I also hope they make at least one set without Wildstyle and Emmett just to let us know that the designers of these sets aren’t some hypnotized scientists locked up in a room full of LEGO.
Is it weird that a proper Spring suspension car is the most interesting thing to me out of these three sets? The Emmet and Wyldstyle saturation is crazy - they're becoming the new Batman in any given DC set, or the Owen in any given Jurassic World set.
Wyldstyle in LEGO Movie 2 is now called her Lucy instead?
These are lovely! My poor wallet...
Glad to see the high level of quality is kept with this LEGO Movie line. Don’t like the truck at all, spaceship is overpriced but TEAL, and the Uniultrakittycatty set is strangely enticing. Really looking forward to the rest of line
LOL the spaceship looks like a model of an eye they have at optometrists.
Unikitty looks just weird. First a cat and unicorn combo, now a cat, unicorn and dragon?????
The ute seems just one from Mad Max Fury Road with some inspiration from the TLBM Tailgator
The Duplo creature is cool though, very well done.
But minifgures and minidolls in the same System set! NOOOOOO! Triggered.
Bring it on.
Dang those look phenomenal! I can’t wait to see more!
Oh good grief.
It's a 'Friends-ship'.
The ship and the Unikitty look AMAZING!
Saving money! WooHoo!
The little ship is neat, but not a must have. The car looks like the LEGO Batman Mobile. And a System Duplo brick.
Won't it be fun to mod unikitty into the vultron set?
I love Emmet’s car! What a set! What a lovely set!
All look great. The Lego Movie sets remain some of the most creative and interesting lines out there. Just goes to show you don't need a big IP licence to make cool things. Well done product designers.
Didn't like the first Lego Movie sets, only bought the Ice Cream Machine, but the spaceship and the Unikitty looks awesome! Thinking about buying them, but Harry Potter sets take all of my money
ah I love the spaceship *3* (I really love all crazy spaceships and this one look GOOOOD)
also the unikitty set is nice, don't know if I get one, but would like to bricklink the duplo build as it's fun little thing XD
'No names, set numbers or anything else have been provided...' yet there are (way to high) prices listed on the set pages???
Minidolls and minifigures together... now we can finally die in peace
@AdamDaLegoGuy -
"You only get one side of the battle with these sets."
The sides *are* represented: the spaceship set is heroes vs. the alien; the truck set is heroes vs. the post-apoc nom-nom visor figure; the Unikitty set is the heroes vs. Duplo brick. There just aren't accompanying "versus builds" in each one draining parts from the main model, which (IMO) is a plus.
"I also hope they make at least one set without Wildstyle and Emmett just to let us know that the designers of these sets aren’t some hypnotized scientists locked up in a room full of LEGO."
Or, you know, the kids going to see the movie want to play the good guys no matter which set they can get...
The ship is gojng ot be $70.....WaHt!?!?
Did anyone else notice that the space ship has the same shape as the minidolls' helmet? A nice touch. I wonder how much of the interior will be usable vs technic structuring though.
^Peter1999, these sets use a lot of small pars and/or are large in size to accomodate more detail. The original TLM, TLBM and TLNM set runs also had this problem. Many large sets of things that would normally be smaller sets.
^Ladondorf, all of them being super expensive will be why. These sets are nice and detailed, but these details eat parts budget. If you look up prototypes for themes like Space Police III and Power Miners you'll notice they have waaay more detail than the finished designs. These sets -being movie tie-ins- can get more detail in because they are based on even more detailed sets. They might look good. They might feel slightly overpriced. But once you build them you'll realise they are often worth the money, just very parts-dense. At least that is my experience with the SpaceshipSpaceshipSpaceship. The price was a tough pill to swallow but the end result is kingly.
That being said, these prices are just leaks, so you might take them with a pinch of salt.
Also, I really hope we get more neo classic space sets for this movie, what with there being 'space aliens' and all. I hope the space section of the Man Upstair's display hasn't also become steampunk.
Unikitty's head seems to be the old 2x6x2 weight brick part 73090 with a printed design! They most likely took out the metal inside though.
@Norikins: Nope! If you look closely, her face is only five studs wide and one stud deep. Definitely a new part!
Sharkia in the Escape Truck set could be possibly Gail, the female Construction Worker due to her face. I don't know how Sweet Mayhem look like without her helmet. Because the helmet looks cool and fitted for the female Retro Space Man.
Pretty obvious Photoshop error by Lego in the Mad Max image. The yellow star in the background has a dark line from the background bricks on the layer in front of it.
I know a lot of folks are liking these, but I'll take a pass. Just not my taste.
