Star Wars Advent Calendar: Day 19
Posted by CapnRex101,
The more recent Star Wars movies have provided inspiration for many recent items from this LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar. That trend continued on day eighteen with a First Order TIE/sf Fighter.
Let's open the next door and find out what today has to offer...
Several new vehicles appeared in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story alongside some interesting variants of existing designs. The impressive AT-ACT is devoted primarily to transporting cargo rather than attacking opposition and is distinguished from the more famous AT-AT by some orange highlights on each flank. It looks great here, featuring articulated legs and the important orange cargo pod, although the pod cannot actually be removed.
This model takes clear inspiration from a similar design in 75097 Star Wars Advent Calendar, which was released in 2015. The updated rendition includes two orange brackets that widen its body slightly but the extensive articulation remains unchanged, as one might imagine. Ultimately, I think it would be difficult to improve upon this design at such a small scale!
Overall - 5.0 - I am delighted with this model of an AT-ACT. Its impressive articulation is excellent and I love the orange highlights against the light bluish grey bodywork, matching the source material exactly.

I loved it! The ships in the calendar have all have been pretty good, but this model is my favorite so far.
Sweet! Looks great! Wishing more and more I would have picked up this calendar!
When you see some of the other ship designs from other movies, it makes you wonder why the AT-ACT for ground-based cargo transport even makes sense. The AT-Hauler would accomplish the same thing much more efficiently, presumably. But that's Star Wars...
Those legs are impressive - they look perfectly sized!
Sublime model and a pleasure to build. This calendar is definitely ending on a high.
Am I the only one who thinks that the ,,head" is a little ugly? The rest is fine, but the head is too blocky in my opinion...
@Henrik673 I see what you're saying, but I believe fixing that would require moving the neck-clip in a way that would cause the head to either be too high or too long.
@Henrik673 Maybe they could have used a tooth piece (15070) upside down to shape the nose? It would defeat the purpose of a window, but it might have looked better.
That's not the model I got.
I went and looked at my Advent Calendar again, and I opened Door 20 instead of Door 19.
WHOOPS!!!
Tomorrow's model is pretty cool though. :D
Agree! It’s a great build/model. The only change I would make, would be the inclusion of two, orange ingots, each side...as that brick, best resembles the cargo section from the film.
A great model that looks beautiful next to its brother from 2015!
@TitanArch:
Where George was always big on coming up with new designs, the early Disney fare has really focused on tweaking the tried-and-true designs. I thought it was a shameless ploy to appeal to people who soured on the prequels, but it seemed to do the trick...right up until they released The Last Jedi.
