Star Wars Advent Calendar: Day 21

Attack of the Clones, Return of the Jedi and Solo: A Star Wars Story are the only Star Wars films not to appear in the 2018 Star Wars Advent Calendar. I am hoping these movies will be acknowledged during the last few days.

Let's open the door and find out...

The nimble 74-Z Speeder Bike is one of the most memorable vehicles from Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi and it looks magnificent here. The speeder appears proportionally short but I think that is quite effective at this scale, especially since almost every important detail is represented. For instance, the two outriggers are short but I like the angled steering vanes, both of which are easily adjustable.

Furthermore, the model includes a tan seat and handlebars for the rider which look great while the trans-clear support underneath is useful. However, displaying this model is difficult as LEGO does not produce a figure of an appropriate size for the seat. That is less important on vehicles with an enclosed cockpit but has a slight impact here in my opinion.

Overall - 4.5 - This tiny rendition of a 74-Z Speeder Bike is immediately recognisable, including numerous impressive details.

I instantly recognized this, and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't the regularly scheduled minifigure (especially since the last time it wasn't a minifigure, it was a weapon stand)

Sometimes it is hard to visualize what the completed model will look like from the instructions! At first, I was thinking it was an Episode I-something (MTT, probably). It's a decent speeder bike, but that is an out of left field choice.

The Luke/Vader calendar had a minifig scale speederbike. It didn't have handlebars, but an easy mod made it possible.

I honestly thought I was building some abstract reindeer until I was finished and looked at it from the front and it was only then the penny dropped! Still an engaging build and a very clever design.
