Star Wars Advent Calendar: Day 20

Posted by ,

The 2018 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar has undoubtedly hit its stride over the last few days, including some excellent miniature vehicles and appealing minifigures.

Hopefully that impressive standard will continue on day twenty.

LEGO has produced twelve different sets based upon Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, representing most of the important vehicles from the movie. However, the Zeta-class Transport Shuttle, to which the Rogue One callsign is assigned, has yet to appear at minifigure scale. This miniature version looks magnificent though, featuring four vertical wings and a tiny cockpit which looks perfect in relation to the film.

Two poseable laser cannons are placed on the forward wings and an orange 2x3 plate forms the crates hanging underneath the cargo vessel. This area of the model does not stand out against the light bluish grey pieces as much as I anticipated, although its proportions are superb. In addition, the wings cannot fold down which is slightly disappointing but I think that would be extremely difficult at such a tiny scale. Including hinges would probably spoil the appearance of this vehicle.

Overall - 4.5 - This is another excellent mini model and it looks brilliant when compared with the source material, despite the lack of folding wings.

By in Ireland,

I watched Rogue One the day before yesterday so I was thrilled to see this model. It definitely is one with the force!

side rant of sorts--while these posts come out late enough in my day that they can't spoiler my calendar experience, the flickr posts are another matter. my fault, i know, but this is the third time i scrolled through my flickr feed and saw the day's build before i opened my calendar-day. no more morning flickr for me until 12/25!
