Welcome, 200,000th member!
Posted by Huw,Yesterday at 1:15pm Sebastian, a.k.a. Seeebek, who's in the UK, joined Brickset and in doing so became our 200,000th member!
Welcome to Brickset, Seb, and indeed welcome to everyone else who has joined us recently. I hope you like what you see and decide to visit us frequently.
While we're on the subject here's some interesting facts about members and member numbers:
- Brickset.com was founded in July 2000 but it was not until 2005 that it became possible to create a user account and record your collection on the site.
- We started recording the date that users joined on 7th November 2010 and at that point there were 37,600 members.
- 3,898 of those long standing members have used the site this year.
- The 100,000th member signed up on the 4th January 2015 and we wrote about it at the time.
- The first person to create an account in 2005, other than staff members, is alexolim, who last visited the site today!
So, alexolim and seeebek, get in touch wth me via the contact form below and I'll send you some Brickset goodies in the new year!
The creation of user accounts peaked in 2014, possibly as a result of The LEGO Movie, and while it has dropped slightly since, it's still fairly steady. At an average of around 25,000 a year we should be welcoming our 300,000 member in 2022!

Time flies!
welcome Seeebeck!
I just checked for myself: "MEMBER SINCE: Before November 2010"
and I still use it every week!
I've been a member since before November 2010, and my number probably isn't all that special, but since you're handing out goodies, can I get in on that action? :)
^Same for me. A Brickset or Forum window is open pretty much all of the time. What do I win? ;-p
Brickset has been my homepage for almost 10 years. I remember when I first joined :'-)
Oh man, there's presents?
Can I get a free gift for being cheeky and being random member number 1***** something? lol
@MCLegoboy, It's actually quite difficult to find out the number out.
When you sign up, a UserID -- the database key field -- is automatically assigned to your record. However until recently 20% or so of signups never actually logged into the site, usually because they spelled their email address incorrectly.
A few years ago I purged all such accounts and also those of users that hadn't logged in since 2010 and hadn't recorded their collection on the site.
As a result the UserID recorded in the database is out of sync with what I am using to determine member numbers, which excludes accounts that have never logged in, or have not done so since since 2010.
Anyway, after a bit of digging about, which I don't want to repeat for others (!): your useriD is 23881 but you're the 9930th member.
Now, the email address has to be entered twice on the signup form which has helped prevent this problem but there are still around 11,000 dormant accounts which are not included in calculations and totals.
Oh... wow!
I never thought I was the first to create an account? Well, this will be an awesome Christmas and Birthday Gift!!
Congrats to @alexolim and @Seebek, and kudos to @Huw for being an awesome host.
We are all winners, because we have the best damn collector-related resource on the whole web.
Dear Huw, and dear Brickset portal: your Website is the first one I open during my break time in office, and the last I close in the evening...
Best Wishes to all of you, and us!
The first Brickset user is portuguese, how awesome is that??? We are indeed a country absolutely crazy for Lego! Enjoy alexolim!
I love how universal Lego is!
@Huw -- how may user accounts have inventories associated with them?
^ 153,932.
Congratulations to Seeebek, alexolim, Huw and all members of Brickset.
Sorry Huw, I mess up your stats a little when it comes to sets owned. I only put the sets that I own that are incomplete in my inventory on brickset.
Wouldn't putting the brand new member's name right on the homepage be a little intimidating to him?
Welcome fam
Huw, do you remember when you opened the registration in 2005?
I dug into my archives and found that I registered the 19th of June 2005.
Wait, how come none of us other peeps that were faithful and signed up before get nothing? Man, they even get their own article! Not fair!
Anywho, if you guys read this, welcome to the community.
^^14th May, apparently: https://brickset.com/article/14698/welcome-to-brickset-3-0!
I remember when I was 42,232. The air was fresher, food tasted better, and I tackled life with renewed vigor!
Brickset does that to a man.
I’m sure Sebastian feels the same. Welcome!
I just got an account in October, although I have been following brickset since 2016. Congrats!
I thoroughly enjoyed this article and am grateful for this wonderful website. Like many others, this is the first page I visit in the morning and the last I check before going to bed. I also love wearing my Brickset t-shirt each weekend.
Perhaps Huw should more prominently publicize the Brickset gear available for purchase so we can all give ourselves a gift this time of year! I've noticed that JK Brickworks has a permanent banner on the side of his home page for his merchandise.
It’s true, I still have the email I got from brickset confirming the account on May 14 of 2005!
Some of those dormant accounts are probably mine. I established accounts for both my boys (5 & 7) to try to keep track of their sets seperately from my own. Haven't updated in quite a while--kinda of a pain, especially with bulk buys in the "Sure, I gues this firetruck from a station we don't actually have can be yours". Do I mark that as a set owned or not, when I only have parts?
^^ Cool -- you have a large email archive!
Wow! I had no idea that I'm sneaking up on seven years Bricksetting.
I guess I met Brickset after I met my daughter, but only about six months later.
Get ready! Get Brickset! Go!
Welcome to the family! :)
You just doxxed him lol
Wow congrats to seeebek! I just checked and found the email when I registered.....Sept. 11, 2005! Been here since the beginning. Keep up the great work Huw!
I used Peeron forever ago to track my sets. Then I bought a house and all my focus and extra funds went to real life building parts for quite a few years. Stupid priorities, I know...
(Insert dark ages here..)
Anyway, the inventory tracking on here is so much easier (especially with mobile apps now) so thank you Huw!
EDIT: The only thing on my wish list would be a way to add unofficial sets to inventory without doing it piece by piece. If it's a complete model I mean. Like this for example:
https://studio.bricklink.com/v2/build/model.page?idModel=62458
Imagine Seeebek joining and seeing this article and wondering if this is some sort of scam. "You are the site's 1,000,000th visitor! Click here to get a free iPhone!"
Member since December 4, 2018, here!
I love that it looks like they only signed up to get YouTube subscribers. Maybe we all should to congratulate them
I remember, it was this time of year, I bought my first Lego Star Wars set after decades of Lego-abstinence. In january 2014 I signed up on brickset - and I never regretted it!
^ I also had a very long "Lego-abstinence." I got back into them just this year after mourning over having stupidly given away my childhood Legos right before I moved a few years ago and seeing all they have to offer now (specifically the Creator Expert modulars).
idk what to say so merry 3 days before christmas everyone!
Welcome! I hope you enjoy your new account! @Huw can I please get some free stuff too? Maybe one of those "Brickset" 2x8s?
