Dragon Boat Race: official images
Posted by Huw,
LEGO has uploaded images of 80103 Dragon Boat Race to its server in preparation for selling at shop.LEGO.com.
It's unclear at the moment whether it will be available outside of Asia and Australasia but if the company is true to its word about regional exclusives then we should expect it to be, perhaps in a few months' time.
You can view more photos of this exquisite set and its fifteen -- yes, fifteen -- minifigs, after the break.

Even though Lego promised to release these sets worldwide, they will probably be super overpriced just for the exclusivity, kind of like the wind turbine.
Ugh well, another great set slips though my fingers.
I am too lazy to buy these sets on the secondary market.
Nice to see the details. But remember, collectors: you don't have to own all the Lego!
15 Minifigs is quite a lot.
Fun to see the Harry Potter "wand" pieces being used to beat the drums.
Also the wheels under the boats.
It's a truly beautiful set.
Anyone know how much it's going to go for in Asia?
^ already got mine...but pricey...NZ$100. Ouch
Brother's Brick reported it was SGD 84.90, or about $65 USD, which line up with what namekuji posted just above as well.
Looks like the wand piece isn't IP locked after all.
That's a whole lot of minifigures! Quite a high count for a non-people pack set.
I like the new prints, hopefully it comes stateside...
When I was in Japan I took part in a Dragon Boat race. I really want this set!
So many black hair in one set.
I'm surprised to find that "Australasia" doesn't just mean Australia and that the set's widely available in New Zealand. Might have to pick up a couple and MOC the dragon boats into waka!
I’m unfamiliar with the event, what are the spectators holding? (The printed cheese slope piece).
@B_Space_Man if not mistaken, I think they are meant to represent traditional sticky-rice parcels wrapped in brown/green leaves. From memory, they are thrown into the water to feed the Gods, so they don't go after the boats and crew. I Could be wrong though.
Super impressed with the levels of detail and attention. Same as with the CNY dinner set. I wonder who the designers were, anyone know?
15 minifigs? Oh, that's not going to be cheap.
I was right about the wheels. It's only common sense that they added the ability to actually race the boats! Should be trivial to leave them out of the build, of course.
@B_Space_Man: Sparky Ham is correct. These are known as rice dumplings, or zongzi in Mandarin (the red Chinese character on the stall signage is "zong"), or bak zhang in Hokkien (as they're commonly called in Singapore where I live — I dunno why Brickset thinks I'm in the US all of a sudden and I can't find a way to fix it). I think people in some parts of China still throw them into the water, but AFAIK in Singapore people would much rather eat them.
I wonder if the world released sets will have the Turquoise Brick separator?
It would be a lovely difference if they do....
Hopefully the rest of the world gets all three of these later this summer or fall. Lego don’t leave money on the table
Looks like there’s stickers on the sides of the boats and the flags/roof? The two other sets has only prints...
Lego's announcement referred to any sets released AFTER May 1, and this set is being released ON May 1. So I doubt that this one will be included
Some awesome printed pieces in there and the roll piece (forgot the name) in dark red for the dragon's nose is awesome.
@David1985
The roll is a Croissant, and dark red is only in this set.
I hope they bundle the 3 sets as a introductory China valse pack.
I guess it all depends on how LEGO worded their announcement. They did say 'after' May 1st, so does that included May 1 releases? Im sure now that it is on the site, that LEGO CS can also now discuss the set and its availability.
Interesting use of anti-studs on that awning. Love when Lego uses them for texture.
The 4th set to make my living in Singapore, an advantage... After a decade of overpriced LEGO Star Wars sets, up to 30% more than USA...here comes the Dragon Boat Race, preceded by Reunion Dinner, Dragon Dance & Marina Bay Sands... This looks to be another great set. I’m picking up mine on Friday!
Oddly enough this is the one I don't want out of the three. But I won't pick any up. Only so much lego budget and I need to save for Harry potter.
But like stated above, since the press release was worded a certain way, I'm guessing it will leave this out. That would only anger people more of they released this one but not the other two!
AKA a black hair parts pack
Singapore LCS confirms the set is going to be globally released on 1st August.
10. Will this set be available globally as per the LEGO announcement?
Yes, the set will be available globally via LEGO Branded retails stores and LEGO Shop at Home from 1st August.

Looks amazing, love the subtle differences in the two dragons heads. Hope it proves easier to get a hold of then it seems it might do as it would be a shame to miss it. Can't complain about regionalism though, seems like Australia and New Zealand typically get a raw deal and pay a real premium for all their sets.
Well that's a little racist to have these minifigs be yellow... /s
I hope they release all three of the Chinese sets worldwide and not just this one, as imho this is the weakest and to me least interesting of the three.
These WERE widely available in New Zealand earlier this week - most of the stock has already gone :D
