Harry Potter Advent Calendar - Day 2

An exclusive minifigure emerged from the Harry Potter Advent Calendar yesterday. Hopefully the second item may prove similarly appealing after opening door number two.

This tiny rendition of the Hogwarts Express looks magnificent, featuring an appropriate combination of black and red elements which correspond with the original vehicle. I am particularly impressed with the shape of the locomotive that includes three 1x1 bows, forming the boiler. The wheel arrangement looks good too, although the leading wheels should be smaller.
However, the carriage wheels are perfect and make marvellous use of black roller skates. Alternatively, this might be intended to represent the coal tender. I think it looks superb in either role and the coupling offers helpful articulation. The model does feel somewhat fragile though, most notably because the front wheel set is not connected directly to the boiler.
Overall - 4.5 - I am delighted with this miniature Hogwarts Express which includes great detail but I think its structural strength could have been improved.

Wish they'd been able to get the tender in there somehow. Might have been nice to use clear plates in the middle of the coach to represent windows, too.
Pretty sure that's meant to be the tender, since it's both shorter and lower than the locomotive.
Wouldn't a carriage have a different coloured tile for the roof?
So far not dissapointed.
Hogwarts Express has a long six-wheeled tender, and passenger cars are about twice that length. So this definitely isn't easy to peg which stock was intended—but due to no black roof, I'd say tender.

This train looks downright amazing in my opinion. It makes me nostalgic of the good ol' days when lego city calendars were still original and had great-looking builds

Between this and SW, this was a great day for me. Not bad for day 2.
I thought the poly-bag scale Dimensions version (which lacked a tender, something I haven't got around to building yet) was among the most brilliant small-scale LEGO trains ever made (especially when comparing it to clunky Creator versions). Yet, they've topped it once again--with an even smaller one!
