Harry Potter Advent Calendar - Day 8

Posted by ,

Some furniture for the Great Hall has emerged during the past several days of the Harry Potter Advent Calendar, establishing great consistency which is appreciated.

Let's see whether that continues on day eight...

An impressive selection of food is provided today, complementing the goblets which arrived yesterday. This dark orange turkey looks great and three flame yellowish orange ice cream elements are included which seems quite generous. These pieces have become increasingly common within recent years but their inclusion is still appreciated.

However, the highlight of these elements is the pearl silver plate which has only appeared once before and was printed to represent Dumbledore's pensieve on that occasion. The plain version is accordingly exclusive which was certainly a pleasant surprise today!

Overall - 4.0 - Some interesting accessories are provided today and I like these pieces, although little construction was actually required which is unfortunate.

This was a great addition to the best calendar of the year! The food was perfectly timed after the table, the plate was a surprise and the ice cream transformed the goblets into Butterbeer. The House Elves of the kitchen really outdid themselves for this meal.

It's too bad Gamp's law will prevent us from conjuring up more of these treats.

That's banging, actually - easily a 4.5 or even 5 for how generous it is. Excellent synergy with previous gifts as well. Although perhaps I'm biased after seeing the incredibly poor offering from the City calendar for today.

It's well timed, but I'm not keen on this one.

Never a fan of getting the loose assortment of food or utensils. I want to build something, however small. But I guess every calendar has this at some point.

Genius! Cant wait to point that out to my daughter when she wakes as that use for pieces went over our heads

Even though I've been collecting sets for a very long time now, I never managed to acquire one of those large turkey pieces for whatever reason. Plenty of turkey drumsticks, but never the actual main piece. I was so happy to see it included in the calendar today! What an awesome piece!

4.0? Little bit in the early gifting mode I see...

I seriously don't understand what those yellow pieces are meant to represent. Ice cream, really? (I like the butter beer idea, but that doesn't seem to be the intent.) Can anyone with a better knowledge of HP (movie) lore give me some clue?

@Isitaboutmycube I'd guess they can be cooked potatoes, peaches, mashed pumpkin, saffron rice balls, stacks of tangerines, fluffs of orange flavoured cotton candy, or anything else the imagination allows ;)
