75294 Bespin Duel availability and release date revealed
Posted by TheBrickPal,
The official Star Wars website has revealed that 75294 Bespin Duel, in addition to being sold by LEGO online, is a Target retailer exclusive. It will be available on August 27th - notably, the same day the now-cancelled Star Wars Celebration Anaheim was set to begin.
The site also shares an interview with LEGO Star Wars design director Jens Kronvold Frederiksen, which you can check out via the link. The Target.com page is live, as well.
Are you excited to own this iconic scene in brick form? Let us know in the comments below!

Hello Lego? Europe calling here, wondering whether you plan on selling this nice little wannahave here as well. We don’t know of this Target you speak of. We do like Star Wars here as well though. Hello? Anyone there?
Click
Definitely a must buy.
Any idea if its going to be available in the UK??
I assume the set will be available on LEGO’s website worldwide, even in places where Target doesn’t exist. However, it’s possible that we won’t know for a fact until release day on the 27th. I’d be prepared for refreshing the shop page at midnight either way!
Nice, if I miss out on getting one on Lego.com at least I can make a quick run to target and pick one up
what happened to no more region exclusive sets? or does that not include things like this?
I’m getting this 100%
Guaranteed to be scalped and sold @ a markup.
Came to see the hand. Normal hand. Makes sense though, not sure what I was expecting.
On another note, whoever is writing copy for Lego needs to get a raise. No batteries is a feature now? From the product page:
“No batteries required. This awesome LEGO® Star Wars™ building set offers a fun, stress-relieving build with LEGO bricks only. So chill out and enjoy creating a beautiful display piece.”
I will be refreshing the page like my life depends on it.
(If it is indeed available online for me and my fellow non-Americans)
Sooooo, LEGO what did you say about regional exclusive? hmmmmm.
Dw LEGO you've got time to explain yourself. I'll be waiting here.
Come on if this is a regional exclusive imma be ticked off, actually like the look of this build plus would be the ideal way of getting that epic printed arm Darth Vader figure. I don't mind the SDCC figures and one off sets being exclusives but sets like these which could easily be sold at retail that would be very popular shouldn't be exclusive to an event let alone a country.
If LEGO is smart, they'll make this set available world-wide. I'd imagine it'll be one of the most popular Star Wars sets of the year. I only hope I won't be working at the stroke of 3am EST so I can get one online. My local Target is notorious at failing to put new product out on release day and when I speak to an employee to see if they have (input any LEGO set here), all I get is blank stares and shrugged shoulders. Fingers crossed!
Also as a non American idk much about Target but there is something in the web title that says LEGORedCard so might this be a red card only offer, if I'm right isn't the red card Targets membership card?
Might just be me looking too much into it, but ik that with the LEGO Movie Bricheadz they where only for Red Card members and i remember seeing alot of Americans ticked off bout that.
https://www.target.com/p/-/A-79783435?AFID=LEGORedCard
Why cant it be available in shops other than just lego everywhere except America.
More stress trying to get yet another set which will sell out in minutes.
Lego better have a purchase limit on this. 1 per person?

You're 100% right. The Target website does say "RedCard Exclusive" for this set. Their RedCard is Target's own membership debit card linked to your bank account. Just another way to track your buying habits and send you pointless and annoying advertisements.
If it's anything like the hot mess the recent release of the Target-exclusive series of 6-inch GI Joe figures (particularly Baroness, the one I wanted), it'll be sold out quickly, due to them not having a system against bots.
no red card here so it's Lego site for me . . . hope it doesn't sell out too quickly
For people that keep mentioning regional exclusives, I’d recommend checking out their actual policy https://brickset.com/article/43442/lego-pledges-to-stop-launching-regional-exclusives
This doesn’t fall under regional exclusive. I think we can all agree that things are not business as usual right now. This is an event set for a cancelled event, which is completely out of their hands. It’s a bit silly to not be cutting Lego some slack here
Anyone in Europe want to trade me a Bespin Duel for a LEGO House? I'd be willing to hunt down one regional exclusive to trade for another!
So sad for those who live outside USA... If the exclusive was some garbage duel from Episode IX I wouldn't care bur c'mon, it's the most famous scene in the entire saga and worldwide fans won't be able to get it.
The set is now also listed on lego.com in the U.S. as "coming soon on August 27" but when I switch regions I don't see it on the UK site...
Fingers crossed for those of you across the pond.
Also, as has been discussed on previous posts, there are no unique pieces here so if you REALLY want to build this scene, you can fairly easily. The only thing you'll be missing is the box and sticker
Of course, it’s fine for those defending Lego’s ‘regional exclusives’ when the sets are available in their region...
I hope this is available worldwide for those really wanting one. As one of the leading toy companies in the world, it is time that they realise the love of the brick is worldwide, not just Billund or USA-centric.

Items for comic cons were exempt from that new policy.
Payback for all the sets exclusive to Europe (like the Lego House exclusive) ;D

You're kidding, right? This is a fandom that manages to find fault in LEGO helping blind children - of course there are going to be complaints about an exclusive.
If it was a GWP there would be complaints that it's not really free. If LEGO could organise for Mark Hamill himself to hand-deliver each set and then spend an afternoon helping to build it, mint-in-box collectors would kick up a fuss. Complaints are the default.

I'm confused. I'm looking at the web page and it doesn't say "RedCard Exclusive". I even tried a different computer and different browser.
I know zero about target red card. Does that mean that it won’t be sold in stores and you have to be a red card member to order it online or just that you need to be a red card member to order online and it WILL be in stores?
Im just happy its available in Canada too at Lego.com and I believe Toys R Us. We have been waiting months now for the summer sets and they are finally rolling out. The rest of the world has had everything since June.

A whole 50 cents. If you’re enough of a serious adult collector that you’d feel incomplete without this specific build being exactly as pictured, then I don’t think 50 cents would break your budget.
Given that everyone else has already cried a river, I’ll go ahead and build a bridge so that we can get over it. The amount of tomfoolery we’ve seen from supposed adult fans over a set that’s exclusivity comes from cardboard and a single sticker is far too high. There are legitimate complaints to be made in other areas of Lego and spending so much strife on something that doesn’t deserve it lessens the impact of when Lego *actually* messes up and deserves to be called out. When every single thing sends people spiraling, the times where it’s deserved get drowned out. Too much crying wolf
I was supposed to go to Star Wars Celebration. It would have been my first SW Celebration.
At least I've already got tickets to the next one in 2022.
The sets fine. Depends on the price, though. Too many sets coming in at unrealistically high prices.
If it is gonna be on the European Lego store, it's going to 20% more than it would be in normal stores and it's going to be sold out in an hour
Lol, I have to apply for a credit card to get it? Ha, no thanks!
Ok, not on the web page for the LEGO set, but under their RedCard section it's listed as an exclusive, where it says
"Exclusive extra offers,
LEGO® Star Wars™ Bespin™ Duel,
Quantities limited. No rainchecks. Limit 1 per RedCard holder."
“Get or get not... Get i shall...”
Hope it comes to europe :)

Going by the current state of things at TLG and their product lineup I would have expected them to have stated "No smart device required" as a noteworthy feature.
;-)
Target's Redcard is not a credit card it is a debit card. If you have a bank account you can get one. I have had one for years & the only emails I get are informing me of sales & their weekly ad. I wish they would send me info based on my shopping as I generally buy LEGO from their store & I haven't seen an email about this yet!
So I just spoke to someone at lego and said it is unlikely it'll be hitting the UK store. So great..... Star wars celebration ticket holders from across the world don't even get a shot at getting them.
So, if it's Target red card only... then it's the Darth Vader Bust 75227 all over again ! I did manage to get some of those imported for $80 (£60) each all in.. so that was overall a good result but took some effort to source.
But if this one is Target AND S&H (US) then that's not a retailer exclusive and as can't have regional exclusive it should be worldwide. Obviously they can make available to other regions some time later not the same time which may help with any stock/supply challenges - eg. like Chinese New Year sets, in one region first, worldwide later.. but for SW it's a lot more tenuous if they do that)... or i'm going to be back in 75227 land again trying to get one sent across the pond.

I think what Nordbart meant was:
"My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father; prepare to die."
"Wait, what? No, I am you father."
Oh yeah, and to echo fakespacesquid's words above: the amount of whinging around here is too damn high. As they pointed out, you can just build this set from other parts (it being LEGO and all) so why worry if you can't get?
Every announcement on here is met with a tirade of people complaining that a set they want won't be released for another month, or that it went straight to backorder, or some other toddler-like complaint. So what? Use your patience, and build something else.

RedCard can be credit or debit, your choice. It only works at Target, unless they offer you an upgrade to a Mastercard later on. And you have to give up lots of personal info for marketing purposes.

Other sets (Ninjago, City, etc) were indeed released on June 1st. The SW sets were only released in Europe on August 1st, so not June. It's just a few weeks... some people here are still looking for the 501st battle pack, the supplies were very limited as Lego had to keep some for North America.
To the people who ask why some are unhappy about the set being a regional "exclusive"...
There's whining because it is not fair, that's all. We're not talking about "ohhhh why can't it be released NOW like the rest of the world" which is what people have been doing since the 501st Order BP were released in very sparse quantities in Europe on August 1st (this I call whining at the highest level: it's actually in the US a few days later than in Europe! Was the wait so long?)
We're here talking not about delays, but about an official item which will not be available through any official channels in most of the world.
The same thing happened with the LM2 BrickHeadz, and the Chinese Sets. This was a cheap shot, and Lego admitted it by changing their exclusives policies -- or at least they claimed they would stop it.
People have a right to be angry, as Lego made a statement recently about being done with regional exclusives, except event-related products. So this move feels treacherous.
If this was supposed to be a Convention Exclusive, which we all think it is, then they must clearly make the point and cut the discussions short. But now, selling this through Lego.com in the US and Canada makes people think that one day, no matter when, it will be available in their country too. Which is apparently not the case.
For instance: the "Galaxy Edge & Target" exclusive Lego Resistance Transport is sold not only at Target (as announced blatlanty); in fact it was available at all Lego Stores worldwide, and even before Target had it. The communication about exclusives is becoming ridiculous, because in the end these are not "exclusives", just in a specific area. So, people are expecting this 75294 set to be treated the same by TLG. On the Hasbro front, the new Smuggler's BMF is also sold by third party distributors here in Europe (Oh, wasn't it supposed to be a Target Exclusive again?? LOL). So, exclusives are not always real exclusives. But in their communication, companies focus primarily on the US, like the rest of us are irrelevant. US is a big market, but in the crrent economy, I think Europe will fare much (MUCH) better.
For TLG, I doubt Europe is a tiny market, far from it.
So it all boils down to communication - or the lack thereof - from TLG.
As for building the set with spare parts, well of course we all know this, but that is not the point. Hey guys, Been a long time coming since I finally voiced my opinion but.. just to put my 2 cents in this hot mess of a basket. What I don't understand from LEGO's point of view is, they say they don't want/do regional exclusives anymore. Why don't they start selling sets at European Cons then. It's almost like they think their whole market thrives on the US Cons. We have a Comiccon here in the Netherlands, sell it here. And I bet other countries have these too. Or is this just a strange thought. Sure you make make it a con exclusive perhaps, with a different flag on the box for every other country. Then again maybe it is just a better idea for LEGO to completely stop with these exclusives.

Are there any European cons that rival the size of SDCC or Star Wars Celebration?
TheBrickPal, nice to see you again!
Hey fakespacesquid!
Are there any European cons that rival the size of SDCC or Star Wars Celebration?
Why would the size of a con need to matter? You could be bring it too a smaller Con in Europe, or anywhere else in the world for that matter, with a smaller amount of sets available?
Shouldn't it be about the fans? SW is a global phenomenon isn't it? And I don't think we need to rival Celeration, as we had one here in Europe a couple of years ago, if I am not mistaken.
Do you think there are only Star Wars fans in the US? I bet you that there are more SW fans worldwide than you can fit in your SDCC or whatever.
This is (if this doesn't come out here) just another kick in the n*ts to Star Wars fans in the rest of the world in my opinion.
@fakespacesquid said:
"Are there any European cons that rival the size of SDCC or Star Wars Celebration?"
Not to sound too condescending, but before reading about these events on Brickset I had never even heard of either SDCC or SW Celebration. Not that I would care anyway. I love SW and enjoy the occasional comic now and then, but I feel no need to spend insane amounts of money to head to some convention in order to enjoy the subject matter.

Well, the whole concept of Convention exclusive is their decision.
Same goes with regional exclusives. But the latter was explicitely stated by TLG to be over and done.
Conventions in Europe are small compared to what happens in San Diego or the SW Convention. Again it's a business decision, it's fine if they decide to do it only there. So I would not push for more, because it will make matters worse....
What we need is an official statement by TLG about this being a "Convention" exclusive and it's over. Of course the convention is dead, so they might have to adapt their statement to make it look like they're not dismissing their own prior statement.....
Anyone in the US be so kind and willing to pick one up for me and ship it to Europe when it's released? Been looking forward to add this to my collection and now very very disappointed to hear it's a Target exclusive :(
Even the debit card wants my SS number and bank account. Not worth it.
This set appears to be available on LEGO.com as well (currently marked as "coming soon").
I don't think it will be a Target exclusive. It is listed in normal LEGO catalog that was just published, along with HP Hedwig and Attack on the Burrow that were supposed to be retailer exclusives in the US. Should be easily available on LEGO.com worldwide in September.
Day one purchase for me

It can still be a target exclusive. That means only Target has it (other than the expected Lego store/online). So no Walmart/Barnes/etc.
Do they normally sell things at stores and not sell them from Lego directly? I hadn’t heard that before.
With that said, the set looks fun. And I likely have 99% of the pieces to build it except for the gray pitchfork. AND I don’t have the figures. So this is the most feasible way to get the figures based on the other sets they are available in.
@Ro_nin:
They're not going to go to this much trouble to produce exclusive minifigs and sets for an event where no more than a dozen people will walk up to their booth, and half of those will just ask where to find some other booth. They're not making a single penny in direct return on their investment for the SDCC minifigs, so really all they get from those is the massive amount of publicity that these SDCC/SWC exclusives seem to generate.

I spoke to someone on the Lego chat and they said it's not coming to the uk or Europe stores. Cos it was for SWC so now it's an American exclusive. But SWC isn't just for Americans which makes it worse. What makes it even worse is that SWC ticket holders (ie me) we weren't even given an opportunity to get this, even though we would of if the event wasn't cancelled.
This is pathetic, arguably the most iconic scene in Star Wars and they chose to make it a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive. Shame on LEGO for celebrating the 40th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back this way. This isn't respectful of the 40th anniversary it's a disgrace. It's bad enough that Covid-19 gave false hope to many that this set would be a wide-release but it's worse that LEGO chose to make this a limited production run in the first place. I don't think I have ever been more dissapointed in the LEGO Group and the LEGO Star Wars design team than I am now.

Except that those exact figs alone cost the same as the full thing for Americans
I'm asking a friend in the US who doesn't collect Lego to buy this for me. Just wanted some tips from regular purchases from the US Lego website.
Does experience dictate that this set will be available on the US Lego site all across the US at the strike of midnight on 27-AUG-2020 for the US East coast time, i.e. 9pm on the US West coast on the 26-AUG-2020? My friend lives in California and it would be great if they didn't have to wait until midnight there.
Thanks for any tips!
Also, has anybody else noticed that the Star Wars advent calendar for this year 75279 seems to be only showing up on US Lego site. Should I be worried about that too?

Great post and at last some sense! Agree communication is really poor here. Lego are generally poor here especially right now with customer services taking 10 days to even answer emails.
The Cheetah and Wonder Woman set 76157 was the same. The hype started out online in the USA then it was exclusive to Target then it was Lego store in USA and then it went to Germany and finally UK also on the Lego store. Hopefully they will do the same here.
Lego have kind of clarified that it was an event exclusive haven't they?
As per https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/bespin-duel-75294 on 26-AUG-2020:
"While originally planned to be available at an event that is no longer taking place, this set will now be available at LEGO.com!"
Just for posterity ...
I had a friend in the US purchase this from Lego.com just before midnight US East coast time (went available about 4 minutes before midnight).
I checked about 5-6 hours later, and it was still available. Thought it would be more popular.
8 hours later, it is now on back order.
About 19-20 hours later, it is sold out! Probably sold out sooner, but just checked now.
@zouk97:
It's past the point of usefulness in this case, but this might be useful to know at a later date. This is one situation where some US residents benefit greatly from the fact that we are a single nation that spans six time zones. Everybody gets the same treatment, regardless of which time zone you live in. New promos go live based on the Eastern time zone that starts on the Atlantic seaboard and extends to the Great Lakes region. Old promos stay active based on one of the western time zone (not sure if it's Pacific, Alaskan, or Hawaii/Aleutian), so as long as the old promo wasn't a blowout, you can often time your purchases to qualify for the outgoing and incoming promos on the same order, with a fairly significant window of opportunity.
In this case, the entire US had Bespin go live at the same time. This ends up being a little more "fair" for the western parts of the country, as they got to order this during mid to late evening, while in the eastern part of the nation most people had probably already gone to bed.
I wouldn't worry about the Advent Calendars. They won't even be available to purchase until Monday, so there's still time for the listing to be added before it's late (the second HPAC isn't showing up here, but we've got SW, City, and Friends). It's been several years since they even restricted any Advent Calendars by region, and that would violate their new "no regional exclusives" policy anyways.
@James2506:
Wonder Woman went to Walmart in the US. Target got Bespin. And WW is available in Europe? This is the first I've heard of it. Maybe it sold badly enough in the US that they figured it'd be worth opening up new markets just to burn off remaining stock.

"I assume the set will be available on LEGO’s website worldwide, even in places where Target doesn’t exist. However, it’s possible that we won’t know for a fact until release day on the 27th. I’d be prepared for refreshing the shop page at midnight either way!"
The voice of reason _ let’s wait and see before going all stir crazy!!!!

I spoke to someone on the lego chat and they said it's not coming to Europe. So there you go. I have pics of the conversation but I don't think I can upload them on here. "
Looks like it now and sold out on us site. I got one shipped to my sister in the states and will collect it at Christmas (COVID permitting). Should have bought 10!!!!!
