Official images of Adidas LEGO trainers
Posted by Huw,
Official images of the Adidas LEGO ZX 8000 trainers have surfaced on a number of footwear websites such as sneakerbardetroit.com.
They are apparently being launched on the 25th September and will cost $130 in the USA. It's likely that buying them online at Adidas.com will be the only way most of us will be able to obtain them.
The shoes, made from components moulded in LEGO colours and a LEGO logo on the tongue, also feature a special 2x3 green brick on the laces. I presume it's System compatible, and if so you'll be able to build upon it should you so wish.
Fancy a pair? Do you think they'll look good with your Dots-embellished 501s while you're out shopping for BYGGLEKs in Ikea?
There are more photos after the break.

Don’t be wearing these around my girl
This is truly bizarre
Probably won’t be buying them because I don’t buy shoes often, but they do look cool I do have to say. Although If I did buy them, I don’t know if I’d be putting pieces on the studs, I feel like I’d lose them.
Babe magnets
Well they're
shoes
I still want to know if you can attach LEGO pieces to the shoe.
I say they will become collector's items really quick...
Good Lord! These look like something for toddlers! I wouldn't be caught dead wearing them.
Gangster attire if ever I saw it
They look fine for what they are but yeah, can't say they're for me. Much prefer the concept of the Levis collab, even if they'll prolly be outta my rough pricerange of "whatever primark happens to have this afternoon".
As a sneakerhead, I really wanted these to at least be... not hideous? My hopes were too high.
That brick on the laces looks too small and too low-quality to be System-compatible.
How to make a LEGO branded product.
Step 1: Put studs somewhere even if they may be problematic in the future.
Step 2: Primarly colors. That is all,
Step 3: Slap a mini figure head or LEGO Logo on that bad boy.
And you’re done!
I can't believe there will be any demand for these, beyond those who collect and flip such things. Seems to me that TLG are just getting greedy right now, but partnering with a company that has a terrible track record on worker exploitation is a new low.
The shoe looks cool, but I'd only wear it on occasion since they also look nice.
I'd also like to mention that these aren't the first LEGO shoes. I think there was a Bionicle themed pair of shoes way back then.
Love the colors, but those are way too expensive for me, so unfortunately I'll have to pass.

Yep, those were Nike ones.
Nope. Pass.
I would have worn these with my hammer pants & hypercolor shirt in 1991.
Now, not so much.
Do they come with a orange-coloured, LEGO-branded shoe-horn?
Uh, these are absolutely kicking, and I will happily wear them. LEGO is bright and colorful. Life is too short to be stuck in drab colors.
These look so good! Stylish, modern, fresh and sophisticated.
Said nobody ever.
Well as a fan of Adidas and Lego... This is great. People will buy these and people will wear these. If people think £100+ is expensive for a pair of shoes... You should reconsider how much Lego costs these days... £350 plus for a Harry Potter or Star Wars 'playset' is relative. But Trainer fans, Lego fans and Adidas fans will still be all over these...
The axe body spray of shoes.
Way too colorful for me. Also, I don't buy white shoes, because they get dirty too quickly. I'd consider it if they were black and purple/lilac (aren't those LEGO colors too?) and if it's actually possible to build something on that brick. I don't expect that to happen, but if they produce that they'll have me.
I might actually be tempted to get myself a pair of these.
Is the LEGO logo on the studs too for the back blue section? I see it on the red lace
sections.
Why do the commenters here always assume that everything that Lego does is made for them?
These time traveled from the 1990s to get here. I'd wear em with a backwards baseball cap and a michael jordan jersey
One can just see Hewbot resplendent in a pair (or indeed pairs) of these (after significant upgrades though)!!!!

I don't. But I can voice my opinon if I want to.
There is no chance I would buy them.
I could probably rock these, but I'm a recovering sneaker addict so I'm trying not to buy shoes at the moment unless I need them.
Sure way of getting your head kicked in!
I guess?
“Assume its system Compatible “
Huw, the shoe would have to be 2ft long
That green block is way smaller than an actual piece
Wow, that's a colorful shoe alright. That price brings back memories of how cool the cool kids with their Nike Pumps were.
@mattval41 yes, but I don't still have my shoes from the 80s. I do still have my Lego.
Will these be standard issue with the LEGO shop employee uniform? ;)
They look fun! But not for $130. No way!!! I'll wait for the Lepin collaboration with Asics. :)
Woah. This looks like a bootleg.
This looks like it’s right out of the 1980s.
All you’d need is an Ocean Pacific T-shirt, a pair of jams, and one of those transparent colored tennis visors.
A rubberised LEGO brick! If they hit Bricklink I may buy a few out of curiosity. Just the brick though, the shoes are not my cup of tea.
/facepalm
What were they thinking!?
If they were Blacktron 1 Themed boots, I would have bought them.
No. Just no. Beyond ugly and completely unnecessary.
Now let’s get back to LEGO.
Should have done shell toes....
Ewww!
I see this year's April Fools announcement had to be delayed by 5.5 months presumably due to the coronavirus outbreak.
I wouldn't lose my DOTS over these
(I'm not the target audience, though)
@jsutton said:

Ah yes, the famous foot-separator!
Doesn't look as bad as I thought they would...
I wouldn't wear these myself, and based on the comments here it doesn't look like Lego fans and shoe culture overlap at all. I wonder who the target audience is - I guess nostalgic sneakerheads? I can see the streetwear community being all over these.
I mean it's still just
a shoe.
[incoherent screaming]
The soles have just a regular generic sneaker pattern, instead of antistuds one would've expected.
Now following LEGO's sudden passion for rubbery bricks in all the wrong places the next logical product to emerge would be condoms with studs (for interlocking or just to be decorated with heart-shaped tiles). And the very existance of "18+" product line insists this may actually happen.
I would also assume these are mostly for kids... which is not exactly the demographics on Brickset. I'm surprised there's so much outrage: I wouldn't wear them, but for sure Lego-fans of a young age would be super excited. If Paw Patrol can sell shoes, so can Lego...
Get a pair of those to wear with your Lego branded Levis jeans, shirt and cap and go buy some bygglek to make a complete fool of yourself. Even if these trainers are only meant to appeal to shoe collectors - I thought these would at least collect cool looking shoes.
Il like and wear bright colours sneakers. But these are too much to my taste. Too many different colours to be used at work or so IMO. Not for me.
Not for me, but I think it's pretty cool that they exist.
They should have it where it has studs on the bottom so if you step on a lego instead of it being painful it just makes you taller...
If you like it - buy it!
I'm happy for all who will.
However I will not be the one chasing after this product... This is a wasted opportunity for more bricks, more sets more LEGO.
How hilarious and wonderful and truly awful all at the same time
I'm sure someone can confidently pull these off
Aiming these at kids would've been a much better idea, at half the price.
?

This is brilliant and this is what you get when you enter the adult-only market. Now clutch power, brick separators and Studs Not On Top techniques have new meaning.
It’s clear where all that extra profit (yours and mine hard earned cash mind you) has gone In to. I hope TLG reads this.
Again I’m surprised with SO much hate for these.
I like 80’s nostalgia
I like bright colours
I like chunky trainers
If I need a new pair and see them, I won’t need much persuading to buy them.
@kyrodes said:

We don't. The question at the bottom of the article is "Fancy a pair?" so naturally people are answering that question.
I think they’re dope. I only got way too many sneakers, so i’m probably skipping, but who knows, might as well buy these and some levi’s lego sweater to rock it with.
These are hideous. I want to find a way to incorporate them in a moc!
I kind of like them. They are nice and colorful. I wouldn't wear them, but I never wear sneakers anyways

In all honesty, what if this was pitched to Adidas as a joint April Fool's prank, but then thought "Hey, since we cancelled the joke, what if we actually did produce these and no one would ever know what they were originally intended for?"
I'm a "shoe guy," ...there's not 130 bucks worth of shoe there...
They will sell out quickly as the target audiance is both LEGO fans AND trainer collectors (yes, they exist). This is a stroke of business genius by all concerned as, even today, fools and their money are soon parted.
Nice shoes if your job is being a professional clown.
Envisioning that one corner or island in the LEGO store is morphing into a clothing center...somebody stop this now please.
Only wear Nikes. But the idea^^^^^ of buying them as a collector's item is intriguing.
LEGO recently released braille bricks. Good to know that LEGO is now making shoes for the same segment.

Yes, but can anyone confidently put these on?
"Fancy a pair?"
Yes, because the other day I was thinking, I need a more efficient way to misplace and lose Lego pieces, and wearing them around town on my clothes? That seems the most likely option for that.
Hideous
@HerrKolber said:

In no way, shape or form does a partnership with an external shoe company affect the amount of sets Lego release...
I have been wearing Adidas since I was a kid. Basically all I wear is Adidas pants, shorts, shirts and shoes.......... This is just too good to pass up. Would not be able to wear them as my style is not quite so childish (which these are VERY) but they certainly belong in my collection. These would not be the first pair of Adidas shoes I own that are for collecting and not wearing.
errmm… no?
They are not my cup of tea as my clothing taste is quite sober, but I think they look fun. Expensive for sure, but fun.
Remember when Homer Simpson designed a car? .......
They look perfect for their target audience, and I kind of really like them.
Getting a lot of millage of the DOTS line aren't you LEGO?

Ohhh, so THESE are what Lord Business was wearing!
Love the basic colors, but wouldn't put LEGO pieces on the studs when walking outside.
They've finally made a shoe to rival my LEGO Crocs.
Doesn’t look as terrible as I thought they would, but it should’ve been marketed towards kids because of how colorful they are. I can’t see many adults wearing these, I certainly won’t be picking up any, certainly with how expensive they are, but I’m glad they’re trying new things and branching out.
They're really...studly.
Nope, too many colors and wierd patches here and there...
It would appear this Lego collaboration is just one of many that Adidas are doing with the AZ-8000. As that model is originally from the 80s it’s no surprise that the Lego styling is super retro and blocky. In that context they make sense. I doubt these are intended for mass-market appeal but for sneakerhead collectors to display or whatever they do.
Uhhh, it sure isn't designed for the type of person who goes on Brickset.....
Worst. 3D Baseplate. Ever.

Baaarffffffff. Swimlane Lego, swim lane... because right now you are all over the pool. Remember when you nearly drowned in 2003?
Wear these sneakers as a kid, in combination with the Levi's attire, and you're guaranteed to be the victim in any schoolyard.
Wear said combination as an adult, and you're guaranteed to be taken to a mental institution for questioning.
Those shoes should be branded Google.
Damn right the most hideous design I’ve ever seen. Is anyone going to honestly buy these? Seriously this is the best they could come up with? The only cool thing in the promo was the box and that’s probably not even coming with the shoes.
And what if you’re a Nike person?
If I wore these with a Lego T-shirt people may think that I worked in a Lego shop and these were part of my free corporate outfit. Personally, I prefer the Nike SB Dunk Lego shoes as look more fun with colourful blue, green and yellow striped suede material, and I could see young kids wearing them, but I think these were just a marketing concept or limited release as never seen on sale anywhere? Either way for the price I would prefer to buy some Lego.
More like Google Shoes
A Special Kind of Ugly.
Torture shoes! You are literally stepping on lego!! ;)
I had a google image search of ZX8000. It seems they did more versions of this type of shoe. The differences of the LEGO Sneaker are the blue heel part, the red parts on the shoelaces and the prominent LEGO logo on the "tungue"(?) Anyway. I looks like a funtional shoe. The sole might be a kind of original design too. Dunno. I'd wear them but my size properly isn't made in this fancy design.
Old school looking.
Calling these shous ugly and whatnot leaves you without adjective to call truly ugly shoes like these: https://ibb.co/2S8MBfQ Some of the commenters really need to have a reality check when calling names. I am not at all a sneaker head, i wouldn't spend 130$ for sneakers, but they look like what they supposed to be: lego branded addidas sneakers. And they also happen to be quite close to reagge colours.
I wonder if I built one of these in Lego and submitted it on the Ideas platform, would I be in breach of copyright?

Doubleplusugly
The beauty of the “LEGO System of Play” is that LEGO elements are reusable, and the play value grows as you add more to the system. This makes LEGO bricks a sustainable, or at least reusable, medium. Just look at those of us who still covet our 1970s and 1980s sets!
Compare this to a designer shoe which, depending on the audience, is collectible (and encourages conspicuous consumption) or disposable and destined to be worn out. Neither is part of a larger system of play, nor of a reusable medium which can be passed on from one generation to the next.
It’s interesting that LEGO is promoting sustainability on the one hand (paper bags, plant-based plastics) and on the other hand is promoting designer shoes. For me, this contradiction explains my feelings of unease at this new product venture.
Now if we could 'build to order' instead of the funky mix of colours (these remind me of what a clown might wear, or Ronald McD) - I'd have all black with a highlight trim.

No to be honest I don’t think people will buy these or even wear them because for most people 100$ is expensive for a pair of shoes & I also think you’re wrong & most LEGO fans don’t care at all about the shoes.

We gotta get shoes based of the old constraction figure foot-molds one of these days
Why does Lego "gear"/tat always need to have this ghastly mismatched-primary-colors look? It's like as if it was designed by someone who only has a very vague, nostalgic memory of lego from their childhoods, while most of us remember that this look was a necessary evil as we never had enough bricks in the right color.
Also, the name "ZX 8000" really sounds like some ambitious-but-unreleased Sinclair computer.
I wear a men's size 15 (US) (or 14.5 UK, 50 Euro) and my son is a childrens size 9 (US) (or 8 UK, 25 Euro). I suspect that this won't be available in sizes to fit either of us. :(
Lego is a toy to play with.
It is not, and should not, be a fashion statement. And certainly not something worth showing off by wearing it or displaying the logo all around.
I like the toys and the 3D model. And that is truly all it should be.
Will you be wearing McDonald's logo on a T-shirt or Shoes. Just strange. Isn't it?
“Do you think they'll look good with your Dots-embellished 501s while you're out shopping for BYGGLEKs in Ikea?”
Ha ha this cracked me up! As toddler trainers, cute but for £130 meh! I’m a Granny, single & happily living alone as finally free to turn my home into a lego fantasy world but I do think my daughters would have me committed if I turned up at the next family do in my lego trainers & Levi’s - omg I feel like 2020 is all being recorded and we’re part of a big crazy lab test! Sane people will be the ones staying home building lego if you wanted to know the answer! P.S. Do like the Ikea stuff though!
Interesting that this comment section sticks their nose up at this collab and the price, especially a shoe silhouette that is very comfy and has nice materials put into it, but has no problem buying a $500 Disney Star Wars (TM) set of plastic bricks
At first glance, I thought, Forest Gump!
I like them.
So in theory, if the studs are compatible with regular Lego pieces, you're now allowed to use these shoes in a Lego build?
What does the bottom look like?
@j_d said:

Red sole
Will these be for sale through the LEGO website ????
I really hope so, because normally it works with raffels ...
Whatever opinions we might have, I suspect these will sell out immediately and be more collectible than most sets.

Exactly I'd only buy them to eventually sell for a ton of USD. And yep I definitely wouldn't get these to use on the basketball court or wear on a regular basis.

same as lego sets???
This is even worse than many of the overpriced sets for $130. Won't even be interested at half price. Looks pretty clear Lego is money first, customer second. One of the easiest passes for me.
