Finally, for now at least, we finish the 2021 set reveal courtesy of Van Der Meulen with two Art sets: Mickey Mouse and Harry Potter.

Mickey can be rebuilt into Minnie while the Harry Potter one can be rebuilt into the four house crests.

That brings the total number of 2021 sets we have images for to 94.

That's a much better Mickey!

I like the Mickey Mouse one a lot!

Getting two Mickey sets without a doubt, maybe wait for a discount though. Not a fan of HP so will pass on that set but it does look impressive.

Remove the raven!
Bring back the bronze!

By in United States,

Compared to the intricacy of the first wave of art sets, being actual photos or paintings, these look comparatively simple.

I will definitely purchase that Mickey Mouse. I like the look of it much more than the buildable Mickey & Minnie figures.

I'm interested in how the gold crowbar pieces are used. I assume part removal but it seems a little weird to use it instead of a brick seperator.

Gravatar
By in Switzerland,

1x1 round plates for HP, why not tiles this time?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I find it odd that the Mickey one only has one alternative picture. Previous LEGO Art sets had more.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I will be curious to see if these retail at the same cost as each other & the previous wave's sets. The difference in pieces between the 2 new sets is almost 1600. The previous wave all cost the same but only varied by about 500 pieces so this will stretch that principle to breaking point.

At a guess I'd say it's pretty difficult to start removing the tiles/plates from the completed mosaic (without disassembling the frame), so the crowbar piece lets you get in between them so you can remove a few one at a time before getting the man-sized removal tool in to take out handfuls of them in one go.

Mickey may be the best-looking one of 'these' yet.

Oh I absolutely love that Mickey one. I'd have that on my wall! Not for £120 though :(

Appreciate you working late on a Friday to get all this news to us, Huw!

By in Australia,

Brilliant! Love the house crests in particular.

Gravatar
By in United States,

When I hear "Hogwarts house crests," I imagine the respective animals in colorful ornate shields, with banners and such surrounding them. These look... extremely dull, both chromatically and in terms of design. I'm kind of bummed.

Really like Mickey and Minnie.

To the people upset by Ravenclaw.

These are going to based on the movies, not the books. They made the decision to change colors and “mascot.” Not sure why, but that is why. Not sure why HP fans wouldn’t be aware of that or why they would expect the sets to be based on books...

With that said, looks decent enough. Not sure if I’ll buy any. I am a Ravenclaw so I’d have to consider that one at the very least.

Awesome! Self-titled album cover I'm guessing?

So far 2021 looks a lot less painful on my wallet than 2020 was. A couple of the China sets plus Tatooine only for me so far and a maybe on the Senna...I. Sure Lego will weed more out of me before too long tho...

I just wish a few of the EOL sets were still available next year coz I really don't wanna splurge on them all at midnight tonight...

My cousin will love the HP set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ooooh the Mickey is *very* nice looking! I may be tempted to buy two of that one.

Gravatar
By in Austria,

Mickey and Minnie look great.

But the Hogwarts ones are utterly disappointing. I expected the proper House Crests, not just the animals in front of a house pattern with an horcrux in them. I also don't see how, with that colour pallet, they're making a big Hogwarts crest for the 4 houses. Not enough gold I think.

I was counting on buying 4 if not 8 of them. But with this, I'll just buy one for Slytherin and not bother with the rest. Well done, LEGO. You went from a sale totalling 960 euros to just 120 at best.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Considering the sizeable discounts available for the current Arts sets (Amazon had them for about 77 Euros recently), I can totally see myself getting four of the Hogwarts set and at least one Mickey/Minnie, as that is how they should look like, not like those strange and freaky large figures in 43179.

I have been watching to much of the Animaniacs reboot, I keep the seeing Yakko Warners's face instead of Mickey!

Gravatar
By in Turkey,

Mickey is so beautiful and iconic. Won't buy it but I loved it.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I must say the Mickey looks fantastic, like an old comic book print or Roy Lichtenstein painting. But I wonder what it would cost to by a cel from a Mickey cartoon? If I’m going to spend this kind of money on art, I’d kind of prefer it to be real.

But makes me wonder had the Beatles art featured either images from Yellow Submarine or even the Beatles cartoon if I would have purchased it. This theme definitely lends itself better towards actual art, or at least the cartoonish type. But please no Piet Mondrian, if I want De Stijl on my wall I’ll have my 4 year old build it, or just get the White Stripes on vinyl.

Gravatar
By in United States,

anyone know piece count/pieces needed for the 4th art pic... 31200 or 31199.
Don't think I've seen anything bout that.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Like the Mickey Mouse. Bold and simple design with some subtle shading. And you only need two to complete the set. Will we see Donald and Daisy, or Pluto and Goofy next?

Yeah, how about the White Album? (I kid. Although it'd be an easy build...)

Mickey is the first one that really grabs me. Still too much, but I might eventually crack

It's not like it's a new complaint. People are a bit angry at the movies too. It's so hard to get proper Ravenclaw merch ;3;

Pretty sure these will come out in two waves. There’s the world map too, and at least one other unknown to come. Similar to this “starter big wave then smaller waves“ is the modulars - 2 in 2007, then one each year since.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Echoing a few comments above I'm really disappointed in the Harry Potter ones. Big Harry Potter fan, missed all the previous Harry Potter lines in my dark ages so have been really liking the revival of the theme. Got the Sith and Iron Man mosaics and think they're pretty cool so when I heard they were doing a Harry Potter House crest one I was well up for it but these are just too plain and monochrome, black silhouette animal and splodge of colour in top right. I also don't think the sword, cup locket, diadem should be on them, they came or were discovered later and were never really a thing on the crests or general knowledge that they were associated with the house.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I might get the Harry Potter one, just to get enough of the right colours for Nick Vas' renditions of Bionicle masks.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I like the Mickey/Minnie one but the Hogwarts ones look a bit plain

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Rumors suggest that if you buy 4 of the HP sets you can build the Hogwarts crest.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

It’s disappointing that the Ravenclaw colours are wrong but at least it wouldn’t be too hard swap the grey for the gold which is similar enough to bronze, could probably change the raven to an eagle too.
Hufflepuff being gold instead of yellow and black looks pretty terrible though.
