Star Wars Advent Calendar - Day 9
Posted by CapnRex101,
The new Star Wars Advent Calendar has proven extremely impressive thus far, including several appealing minifigures and detailed mini models from throughout the Star Wars saga.
Hopefully that standard will continue today...
Perhaps the T-65 X-wing Starfighter which emerged yesterday was based upon the Sequel Trilogy because Rey arrives today, wearing her robe from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. This minifigure has only appeared in two previous sets so another opportunity to acquire this important, but controversial, character is certainly welcome.
The dark brown hair piece incorporates accurate texture when compared with the movie and I like the decoration across the torso and legs as well. Dual-moulded arms could perhaps have represents the bands around Rey's wrists and an alternative hood would have been fantastic, distinguishing this minifigure from its predecessors. Nevertheless, this design looks excellent.
Freckles decorate both sides of the head alongside smiling and determined facial expressions. As usual, Rey wields a blue lightsaber with a chrome silver hilt, in readiness for battles against Kylo Ren and the First Order.
Overall - 4.0 - This minifigure has only appeared twice previously and depicts an exceptionally important character so seems a worthy addition to the Advent Calendar.

I was hoping for a prequel - based build, but another minifig is welcome.
People didn't hate the new characters outright, it's just how they were handled in the context of the story.
A pearl dark grey or black hilt with the yellow blade element from 76025 would have been a better accessory in my opinion, but I will not complain about getting this figure in a cheaper set
Not again, third copy of this minifig. At least they could at least change something. Ok, this minifig is good, but because it is not original I give her only 2.5 points.
Going to get cold around Christmas without sleeves. Somebody put a Christmas sweater on her please!
I was wondering what minifig they'd pair with the X-Wing, and I kinda forgot this was an option.
Oh, it's.... Rey.
Obviously knew she had to be in the box eventually, but. I was hoping the printer made an error.
Boy, if only they knew when designing the advent calendar how the movie would be received. Bet they’re wishing they went with a Mando-centric calendar right about now.
The Force is female right ?

Well according to Yoda description it's male as it enters everything if we go with K divisive words but, I am glad to be from a time wwre we had amazing female force users both in Legends and now in cannon which took the time to be properly developed to give justice to their achievements.
I like Rey as a character well enough (although I do wish she was better developed) but I'm quite sick of her LEGO minifigures. She's the main character of the Sequel Trilogy, and yet she hasn't gotten a new face print in 5 years! She should have gotten new expressions for The Last Jedi sets but the fact that she didn't get any for Rise of Skywalker is ridiculous. This is a cool figure but it would be so much better with a new face print and a yellow lightsaber, especially after she used it in the Holiday Special.

To be fair she didn't make that much of a face expressions in the movies neither.
I agree with both Echolord and GoldenNinja3000 about including a yellow lightsaber blade. I said this to my son this morning when we opened it. (I think a new face print or hair piece would be a nice bonus.) I agree with the Capn’s score of 4—I think the minifig’s printing is terrific and it’s my first one of Rey from the last movie.
The character isn't controversial in the mainstream, only in reactionary circles. Very weird way to frame the main character of the trilogy here.
Glad I got her, Already owning her version from Ep7 and 8. too bad we did‘t get the yellow light saber, tho. Missed opportunity there.

That's it. Same characters and cast in a good story with good character development and story arc, and I would have loved the sequels. So this is just a somehow rare figure, I don't really care anymore for.
I want Mando wearing a Santa hat( or baby yoda wearing a Santa hat)

As soon as I opened it this morning, I grabbed a black lightsaber hilt and a spare yellow blade and gave her the lightsaber from the end of TRoS.
I'll agree that I really wish she had her yellow lightsaber. This whole advent calender is based around the new holiday special, and she had it in that. They could've still kept the figure the same, just added a new accessory
A welcome addition as before today I didn't have a Rey minifigure in this rendition. I particularly like the metallic light sabre hilt and as I received a few of them I must think of some alternative use for them.
It’s MaRey Sue!
@SolidState:
No, her character development consisted solely of spontaneously developing whatever skill or power she didn’t have at the start of each film, but needs to survive through the end of the film. Luke needed a training montage and had zero ability to harness the Force before leaving Dagobah in Ep5. Rey’s Force training consisted of being told she’d basically figured it out on her own.
Just wish we had a yellow lightsaber for Rey. If so, it would be my first steps to creating a Bastila Shan figure.
Ah, how I would love some KOTOR sets...

If you were lucky enough to get one of those Revan polybags that'd be great KOTOR start. He's still one of my White Whales.
@TheWackyWookiee:
The 4L bar does exist in trans-yellow. They made it in 2014, I think, for part of Sinestro’s construct weapon in the first set that game with a Green Lantern (ignoring the one from SDCC 2011).
@brick_me:
The last time they made Revan available, I passed because I’d already picked up three during the original promo. I can’t remember if that was one of the freebies that were passed out to the line on the VIP launch of UCS MF 2, so it’s possible that I got a fourth that day. The late store manager of our local LEGO Store had to practically beg LBR to send him 12 copies of that set for launch, and they told him he’d still be sitting on some of those copies after Christmas. At least 20 people showed up to wait in line until the doors opened. Since we were stuck waiting until they were allowed to open for business, he’d bring out various polybag GWPs, The UCS MF2 prints, and a few monthly models to pass out to everyone who was willing to wait in line (keeping in mind that some of them were still in line even though the only way any of them were going home with a copy was if someone’s card was declined and they couldn’t arrange alternate payment).
Fine....I get it. Popular character and all, but would be nice to get a unique version for the Advent Calendar. Nevertheless I can't really complain since I didn't bother getting the two other sets this minfig is in!
Need Aunt Beru still

I hated Poe. Couldn't stand him.
I figure Lego is going to release Rey with a yellow lightsaber within a year or two anyway, and this would have been the perfect place to justify putting the yellow lightsaber blade back into production. It would’ve felt almost like a third “exclusive” minifig in the calendar, for only the cost of releasing a current piece in a different color.
It’s a nice minifig (I love Rey), but I’m a bit bummed about the missed opportunity.

In the Southern Hemisphere, its heating up! Here in Sydney, the mercury went above 40 degrees Celsius (a November record) just last week!... that’s over 104 degrees Fahrenheit!
