Star Wars Advent Calendar - Day 15

Posted by ,

Battle Droids have appeared in many Star Wars Advent Calendars. Yesterday's item accordingly offers limited appeal, although I envisage some improvement today!

Let's open the door and find out...

Capital ships from throughout the Prequel Trilogy have been notably underrepresented in LEGO and this model of the gargantuan Lucrehulk-class Battleship is its only current depiction, despite the vessel appearing in every Prequel Trilogy movie and Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Its distinct shape has been recreated accurately, featuring rounded cargo arms which surround the famous command sphere.

The proportions of these cargo arms are imperfect, although few alternative parts are available that could create the same shape. Additionally, the contrast between pearl silver and light bluish grey elements at the core seems awkward but I appreciate the dark blue highlights on each flank, matching Separatist vessels from the Clone Wars era. The engine nacelles and communications array appear similarly intricate, taking the tiny scale into consideration.

Overall - 4.5 - I am delighted to see the Lucrehulk-class Battleship represented in LEGO and hope that an enlarged model will become available in the near future!

I would slaughter an entire village of tuskens for a full sized one of these

Isn't this the first time one of these has ever been represented in lego form?

Yes.

Great little model. A large-scale, display UCS version would be very cool to get.

I found that it doesn’t stand up very well because the core is spherical, which is kind of annoying. Other than that, a very nice model.

I don't know why the Battle Droid received so much hate. It is not detrimental to any LEGO collection, and it's never bad to get another one.
I have noticed that most of the Advent Calendar builds are based on sets from 2019, 2020, and 2021. Could this, along with the Republic Cruiser from Door 13, be made as sets in the near future?

An excellent representation I must say. Truly this year's Advent calendar is par excellence.

Looking at all the sets so far on the display mat, theres a lot of grey.

I'd love to see this as a nebulon-b sized adult collector set. I really think there's a market for mini-UCS type of things

I think this model is great. Shape and little detail it has are both accurate. Job well done!

Every Prequel Trilogy movie? I'm not doubting you, because your SW knowledge far surpasses mine; but please remind me where they showed up in Revenge of the Sith?

In any case, hard to believe this is the first time such a crucial part of The Phantom Menace has been seen in Lego! I guess it would naturally be tricky to adapt to Minifigure scale - though I'd like to see that, now that it's come up! - but I'm surprised it hasn't even seen a mini-model before now :o

A few were present during the battle of Coruscant, and when Grievous ejects from his flagship you get a clear view of one through the viewport of his escape pod

You can actually see a few at the start of the movie during the battle over Coruscant.

Oh right, right! I genuinely didn't remember that; thanks for filling me in! :D

It's been forever since I last watched RotS, heh! Or... last time I watched any of the Lucas Star Wars movies in full, for that matter, was almost ten years ago now. It's... been a while xD

Lego didn't think so at on point, 'cause they only did the ISD and the Falcon and then no more until the Nebulon-B.

Ah yes, slaughtering innocents for the sake of Lego, just my style.

Two of my favorite sets were the two midi-scale ships, and I pounced on the Nebulon B. I would love to see more stuff done in that size, just eliminating any need to work minifigs into their design (not that there’s anything wrong with that). My fear is that they’ll come back and say, “We heard your feedback, and have decided to produce an entire line of midi-scale ships, which you will be able to buy exclusively at SDCC!”

Finally, now we need a bigger model as the article states.

One thing you have to remember though, that was what, 2009? 2010? Pre Lego movie, before building became the mainstream adult hobby we enjoy now. We're living in a renaissance! The time is ripe for a midi-scale Venator!

This was the one build that caught my eye the most in the teaser pictures. Very cool and unique - this would be a 5.0 for me.

"From Wookieepedia

Battleships have appeared in LEGO form in the 2005 video game LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game and in the 2012 young readers book LEGO Star Wars: Darth Maul's Mission.

The depictions from LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game show absolutely no evidence of being LEGO while those from the book are basically angular shapes with studs. They are designed to evoke the appearance of LEGO but in no way qualify as LEGO models, in my opinion.
