By in Spain,

I still don't see where they put 5600 parts. Is all the building built with 2x2 plates?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

It would be nice to have pictures of the interior, wouldn't it...

Gravatar
By in Portugal,

Man, that is massive!

Even taller than 70620!

What surprises me the most is that the Docks doesn't look "lost" between them!

Will wait patiently the full reveal to catch all the details.

Thank you Brickset for the update!

By in Sweden,

The final image of the three sets together is just stunning, greatest lego display combination ever.

Gravatar
By in Portugal,

lluisgib: I imagine lots of 1x1 and 1x2 plates, tiles, mostly for detail and texture.

Yeah, hopefully Lego will let those pictures slip too.

Ha ha too true!

By in United States,

Whaaaaaaaaat? Looks pretty good. Really excited about adding it to our city. The last pic with the other large Ninjago sets looks awesome. And the price, although high, seems pretty fair for the set, piece count, and especially minifigures.

Just wish there were more pics.

By in United States,

Don't even need to have my hands on it to know that this is going to be another winner. It looks like it may be as good as Ninjago City, which I feel like is saying something, since it's widely considered to be one of the greatest sets of all time. I don't usually day 1 purchase sets (I'd rather wait for double points etc.) but this is one that I'll be making an exception on.

Gravatar
By in Hong Kong,

It does look great, doesn't it? The only thing I wonder about is whether in that display setup the end of the Docks next to the pagoda will look good.
But that won't stop me getting it :)

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I shall buy this the second it's online, cannot wait to build it and display it besides the City and Docks.

Gravatar
By in Serbia,

Thankfully, it seems that you can connect the main building from either side!
Designers included add ons on the side like a small terrace, and hanging walkway. I was kind of worried about this.
Looks majestic!

Gravatar
By in United States,

God, this set is gorgeous. I love the Docks but I definitely like this one even more. It looks incredible connected to the other two sets and I’m so excited to discover all its features! The only thing I don’t love is the positioning of the little island section since I think it disconnects it a bit too much from the Docks, but I could always swap that over to the other side.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Huw any idea why the lack of a press release? That seems a bit out of the ordinary for Lego, particularly with their recent push on marketing hype for everything!

Gravatar

Beautiful set, but like with its 2 predecessors, don't love Ninjago enough to justify the cost.

Yeah it’s interesting to see but I think a reversed docks would be much better. I mean right now we are watching the back of the set.

The COLOURS! Wonderous.

Such a great link between Legacy & Movie.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I can’t wait for the Shop at Home website to crash while I try to buy this on release day.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Another pass for me. I can understand why the big Ninjago sets have their fans, but I just much prefer the more realistic look of the modulars personally and I still have several of those waiting to be built.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

There are a LOT of parts for this set, but there seem to be a LOT of very small parts to get the really nice details.

I've noticed a few sets recently (Creator and Ideas) have a very large number of very small pieces, which may seem crazy, but there are some lovely techniques and the small pieces give some nice details.

I'm interested to know why people look so closely at the piece count? Surely weight would be a better judge of value?

Indeed, that seems out of the ordinary. Does anybody know whether the set will simply appear on the store page on the 14th at midnight, without any previous statement from Lego? Or will it appear sooner/later?

Gravatar
By in Malaysia,

Don't have NC & Docks but I'm thinking this would pair well with Spring Lantern Festival.

Gravatar
By in Serbia,

Looks fantastic. NC & Docks are two of my favorite builds, far superior to even the modulars, so I will be getting this one as soon as my cash flow allows it (likely in May).

May I suggest looking up the instructions and assembling smaller versions with ordered parts? That what I usually do with pricier sets.

Plus the figures should have parts available on pick a brick, so that helps a lot!

Gravatar
By in United States,

No press release... and the way the article phrases it, it sounds like the site hasn't received anything like a review set or anything either? A shame... obviously all of those things will happen eventually one way or the other, but I could use a spot of good news with all the terrible news out of America this past week...

Gravatar
By in United States,

The lack of an official press release of any kind for this set is surprising, especially since VIPs get early access. I wonder why? I know Lego has done so many press releases for new sets as of late, but one would think at $300 pricetag and 5000+ part count would warrant an announcement of some kind?

Still, it looks great. I can't wait to see more pictures of it. I love the Ninjago cities

Gravatar
By in United States,

Beautiful! Can't wait to build this and combine it with the other 2.

I don't know anything about the Ninjago show, but I'd sign up to autopay $300 every January if they would make this an annual line.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Adding on, I love Ninjago City Docks as a set, but it looks awkward when in the middle of these two. It's a shame that set isn't taller so it's a smoother transition between all three, but still, I love the looks and aesthetics, plus thanks to the modularity of them all, they can be rearranged

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The set is in my official catalogue that arrived last week! I'm in the UK, so it must be official right?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

there are some very small pics in the UK January catalogue

Gravatar
By in United States,

For a 10th anniversary Ninjago celebratory set, the minifigures are not the best. Like sure we got a new Ronin but why not give us a character we've been wanting forever (like Cyrus Borg). I'm waiting for interior pics to be revealed to see just what the inside is and how that celebrates Ninjago.

Gravatar
By in United States,

all the figs we could ever ask for! (except Cyrus borg of course...)

Gravatar

Saw this in the catalog I received last week, and thought it looked so cool and feature-rich. As a nerd for all Lego media, I always love seeing Clutch Powers too!

Honestly dumbfounds me. It’s a set for the 10th anniversary of one of LEGO’s most popular themes. They put out a press release for NINJAGO street wear but not the biggest NINJAGO set to date

Gravatar
By in United States,

I know I won't ever be able to do this but I so badly want to get 4 docks, 2 gardens, and 2 cities to make an entire 3x3 city block. in the middle where it's blank, put down more baseplates, tile it over with 1x2 trans light blue tiles, and put either the 2020 bounty in the center with all the water.

if only....

Gravatar
By in Austria,

This looks like everything BUT "gardens".
The only thing minimally similar to what I imagine gardens to be, is the smaller build on the 16 x 32 baseplate. Very disappointing.

But I guess it will please people who liked the previous City and the Docks. Which wasn't my case.

Gravatar

I wonder if it fits in with the new road plate system ;D

What 'bout Zane's memorial statue? It's not very highlighted, is it?

Gravatar
By in United States,

The set itself looks fantastic, but the pagoda add-on doesn't look right next to the rightmost section of the Docks. It's too short. If your average MOCer put that pagoda there, people would comment on it negatively.

However, if you omit the pagoda section, it doesn't look like it connects to the Docks without modification.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Soon, baby soon. Can’t wait for it to be available.

I'm pretty sure that both the extension to the second-level street and the balcony on the side of the bright green building are designed to be easily removable for that purpose. The street extension even looks like it can be attached on the opposite side (next to the Ice Planet ice cream shop), if you want.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

The last picture is yet another reminder of a disappointment that the Docks were, including jagged skyline that does not harmonize with anything, and not being able to display the best views of both sets at the same time.. Let's see if this time we'll get better combinations.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ninjago is not my thing but wow, that's quite a set. Amazing the art that's coming out a seemingly "kids theme."

Gravatar
By in United States,

The corner of the walkway is built like a tree house platform and the trunk continues up through the floor. I'm digging the overall design and how well it fits with the previous Ninjago Modulars

Gravatar

There are probably a lot of small pieces, likely inside in the rooms as well. This would explain the very low price-per-piece. This looks amazing!

Gravatar

Looks great. Seems like it will connect best to the left of the docks with the city on the right. A little weird since city looks best imo on the left of the docks but we'll see once we actually have it in hand.

Gravatar

I like that the pagoda island detaches. Makes me wish that they had designed the Docks similarly. Oh, wait . . . it's LEGO! I am going to work on that modification immediately.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I don't know, maybe I'm missing something. It's a large D2C Lego set so I understand it's a "must love", but it doesn't look that good. "City" was busy with details and things to look at, and this feels a bit empty. Maybe I expected something different because of the name ? What's "Gardens" about it ? I thought it will be closer to 80107 than "Ninjago City".

Only if you consider negative space to look "incomplete". The structure of this looks pretty solid to me, largely being split between two main "towers" with a tree in the middle, linked by a raised walkway and a museum building that bridges the two. Personally as someone who is a fan of Ninjago City specifically and Ninjago more generally, I like the structure they went with for varying up the corner shape of the original set without replicating its overall structure.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Should be stairs or a lift to the higher floors but appears only some sort of ladder?

Also hope the removable balcony and railings can be clipped on other side....

Anyway love it, better colours than NC

Gravatar
By in United States,

That's an amazing set. I don't know why they skipped a couple of years' worth of these Ninjago modulars but I'm very happy to see another one. The geometry of the tower on top is very pleasing to me. I don't care much about the repeated minifigures, I'm not a collector of figures and just having enough of them to make the space feel alive works for me.

Gravatar
By in Jordan,

It looks absolutely amazing, but I don't know if I can justify spending $300 on a single set. I need a review to help me decide.

That aside, I think it is a worthy set to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Ninjago.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Love it, want it, its my birthday on the 14th (it really is!) so I’m gonna get it!

...... just hope Lego.com can get their delivery s*it together. Still waiting for my 1st Jan order and that was ‘shipped’ over a week ago....

Gravatar
By in United States,

The picture of all 3 sets is absolutely gorgeous. I wish I had the first two sets (or that I could afford them!), but I won’t let this one pass by. I actually recently started watching Ninjago in anticipation of this set so that I could understand it, and it’s a much better show than I imagined. Well deserving of these sets. Really can’t wait to see the interior

Gravatar
By in United States,

I don't really like Ninjago but some of the large sets like Destiny's Bounty, Docks, and Ninjago City were too nice not to buy.

This looks great, too. For me, I find I don't like sets that have lots and lots of pieces, especially also pieces. It's a ton of work that, to me, exceeds the final set. Especially when you build the set a second time and no longer have numbered bags.

I can easily say that you will not be disappointed and if you can afford it day1 then buy it. Before the original Ninjago City I’d never had any Ninjago at all, that set blew my mind and is still my favourite set EVER in how its built and also how it looks. I think this might be a backorder/out of stock set for quite some time after the initial onslaught so I’m not hanging around.

Check out the pictures on BrothersBrick. Zane's statue is a focal point of the 16x32 island section.

Those pictures lead me to believe that the Gardens will display best immediately next to Ninjago City, on the elevator side.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Maybe no press release because TLG haven’t got time... they’re too busy trying to clear the massive backlog of orders.

Go ahead, buy it the second it’s released then wait another five million seconds for the order to be shipped. Maybe we’ll be out of lockdown before you receive it.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I wonder if my January 1st order will be shipped by the launch of this. I was counting on the discount it would earn me off this. If not I'll just have to wait and hope it doesn't go out of stock before then.

Shouldn't take over 11 days to ship, but obviously that's the price of living in the UK now.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It is already on the official lego catalog a week ago. Although not a fan of this theme and would not buy it, it is a good price. Surprised they didn't increase the price with the piece increase. They could easily charge this for $350 or even $400 and people would still buy it. Hard to believe the traditionally greedy lego would let go of this opportunity lol

For me, the Gardens fixes the awkward Composition of the City with only the Docks next to it :-)

The three Ninjago City sets come cheaper than the new UCS sets and with more parts :)

It seems strange this is in a different theme (on Brickset) to the other two sets shown in the article, which aren't under 'Ninjago' (but rather 'The LEGO Ninjago Movie', which is not a subtheme of Ninjago).

Perhaps LEGO doesn't want to play up the hype in the event that one will not be able to attain one come VIP Release Day nor the Official Release Day. Temper expectation. Or reduce the awareness so as to reduce the demand LOL.

this is because the first two Ninjago city sets are from a different canon, the Lego Ninjago movie.

the new one is to commemorate 10 years of Ninjago (not 10 years of Ninjago movie), so they made it a Ninjago legacy set, which for the most part is canon.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

I'd modify the display though, this is the only one that makes sense in a straight line, but it's meant to be a triangular corner. That way the Dock's highest building with the walkway connects to City or Gardens, instead of being alone in the middle of it. That way you have City as the center piece, connecting to Docks on one side and Gardens on the other. And that 1-level shrine can be put on the edge where it won't create empty space. That way you get maximum walkway length!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Awesome! I hope this becomes a series: it allows for more fantasy buildings than modular buildings allow but still has a loads of detail.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This continues to look amazing! I'm glad there's no press release because less marketing may make it slightly easier to get ahold of... which I can't wait to do! It'll also keep the build more of a surprise, too.

Seeing them all together, I realize that the pagoda half-baseplate is likely deliberate to balance out the 1.5 baseplates of the docks, to make the complete collection a whole-number of regular baseplates. That said, throw in the Lantern Festival and we're back to fractions...

Gravatar

They only used to make them at that price because the value of the US Dollar used to be higher. When you adjust for inflation, the price for last year's Bookshop is almost exactly equivalent to the $150 price tags on those earlier Modular Buildings like the Green Grocer, Fire Brigade, and Grand Emporium.

Indeed $150 in 2008 is ~$181 today, roughly, though effectively less considering household wealth stagnation at most quintiles post-Crash.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wish the Nya-in-leather-jacket wasn't a near repeat of previous, but still looks like a pretty awesome set—especially integrated among my Chinatown with the new Chinese New Years garden set. Just will eventually want to do mods on the turquoise tower, which is in color and architecture too 'out there' for my taste.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Makes me regret never picking up the Docks to go with the City, ah well...still getting this for sure.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Chen's Noodle House and the Statue of Zane in the park are my favorite details so far.

The first Ninjago City had Glatorian and Bohrok symbols, and I believe some Okotan writing. The Docks had a map of Mata Nui. I wonder what BIONICLE Easter Egg will pop up in this one? It's the 20th anniversary of Bonks after all!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm going to need another table...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I have Ninjago City, but not the docks. I wonder if the two will look overly urban/squished for space when they're next to each other without the docks in between?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Is anyone else getting Devastator drone vibes from that little robot?

I think the best way to display this would be to put it on the other side of Ninjago City and rotate the whole thing so the Ninjago City Docks is hidden behind everything where you can't really see it. Except for the fact that it was officially designed to go with NC, NCD would be the Market Street of the trio.

Also, who let the pink frog in there? Seriously, guys, those things are getting everywhere. We're going to have to erect a frog-proof fence before they take over the country...

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Oof. Sure is tempting, but my shelf space would never allow it.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I don't know why its being advertised as having 3 levels when it has 5. I'm assuming they're talking about how its split up into 3 'districts' like how Ninjago City had the old city, shopping district, and then the toilet tower and apartment at the top.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Why do they sell the set short, by saying it’s only “3-tiered”?
It’s clearly got 5 levels of shops / housing, plus a rooftop spire / structure, so why don’t they call it “5 levels”?
Sounds much better to me!

Gravatar

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

This looks more wonderful the more I see of it. I've built the Docks but yet to build Ninjago City (I was saving the best until last). Bought those at a good discount, but tempted to do a Day 1 for this if the website doesn't crash. In these times of increasing AFOL popularity I'm less confident of future discounts becoming available on big sets like these.

Absolutely *love* the mix of colours. And doesn't the box art make the set look so vibrant and inviting compared to the miserable 18+ packaging?

Very tempted now to customise the Docks to make the buildings a little higher - they do look a little lost placed between the other two sets.

Anyway, brilliant looking set, I'm sure like others I'd long since assumed there wouldn't be a further City expansion (even if this is technically a different theme).

The first Ninjago City had Glatorian and Bohrok symbols, and I believe some Okotan writing. The Docks had a map of Mata Nui. I wonder what BIONICLE Easter Egg will pop up in this one? It's the 20th anniversary of Bonks after all!"

The Rock Raiders sign on a teal plate looks cool, sure there will be some more Bionicle references, given it has been over 20 years since the first generation came out.

"I know I won't ever be able to do this but I so badly want to get 4 docks, 2 gardens, and 2 cities to make an entire 3x3 city block. in the middle where it's blank, put down more baseplates, tile it over with 1x2 trans light blue tiles, and put either the 2020 bounty in the center with all the water.

if only...."

The 2020 Bounty looks way out of scale besides Ninjago City.

Unfortunately it states "Coming Soon on February 1, 2021" for Canadian customers :-(

By in United States,

I heard that only the first three layers are included in the set, and that the other two are an exclusive GWP for anyone who can get an order through in the first hour.

Well...anything except fish.

By in Singapore,

Not how I was expecting Singapore's LCS to be positively represented on Brickset... but I'll take it!

Like the two previous sets, this is still way overpriced locally compared to the US price. It's a good 20% extra. Oh well.

By in Indonesia,

5600+ parts? Does the set use many 1x1 parts? It does not look that big

By in Austria,

It's higher than Ninjago City and a halfplate wider. The tower seems to use more parts, there's also a little island where Ninjago City only has water and the main tree seems to be very parts intense as well.

I'd just like to mention that 300 euro is nowhere near 300 dollars...

"Another pass for me. I can understand why the big Ninjago sets have their fans, but I just much prefer the more realistic look of the modulars personally and I still have several of those waiting to be built."

When talking about Ninjago City specifically, it's actually more realistic than you might think. Have you ever heard of Kowloon Walled City? It was basically levels upon levels upon levels of homes, businesses and all sorts of shady enterprises going on inside of it. Police didn't dare go inside it as gangs ruled there as well. So the wacky assortment of styles, small corridors, different levels and mixed use nature of Ninjago City to me fits perfectly with that theme. Add in the overal aesthetic of it, and I'm almost sure the designers took the walled city as inspiration for some of it.

Hey, I was wondering whether or not BRICKSET would be doing a special article tomorrow (the 14th) for the 10th anniversary of Ninjago?

Dollar prices always excludes VAT. USD 300 is approximately EUR 250 - add the average EU VAT of 21% and there you have your EUR 300 price.
(Not that every set is quite such a straight currency conversion, but in this case it most certainly is.)

I’m hoping so. Lego has really screwed up the release of this set. Let’s hope brickset can do something cool!

That was actually one reason I didn't buy Ninjago City, it reminded me of Kowloon and how sad it made me that it got torn down. You may say it was a wretched hive of scum and villainy, but it was also such a unique place - one of these places there are less and less room for in today's over-regulated, gentrified and normalized society.
