Like the looks, but those prices compared to the last batch are obscene.

Gravatar
By in Finland,

I highly doubt the prices are final

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

Those prices aren't Walmart's; they're a third-party seller's, selling through Walmart. Just like third-party sellers sell through Amazon.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Probe Droid and the diorama base is a fine display.
Some nice details there.
I'm hoping it's around $70usd
Day 1 for me.
Vader looks off to me (the cheeks) but still a fine display.
I think they got some nice shaping for the side and back of helm though.

By in United Kingdom,

Slightly random thought, but does anyone have any idea how they determine what colour brick separator to include in a set?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Imperial probe droid looks good to me, and the snow covered stand is appealing! It's pleasing that Lego is keen to go for some niche source material for this series of displayable figures (that isn't from a recent release- did anyone actually want D-O???)...

Finger crossed for the elusive UCS-style GONK

Dice?

Gravatar
By in Albania,

The probe droid looks fantastic!

Gravatar
By in Spain,

April the 1st release date, is anyone going to be fooled by those extortionate prices. I will buy but only when reduced on Amazon

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Vader looks too much like a chipmunk. But the Probe Droid looks fantastic!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

The Probe Droid looks amazing for a Day 1 purchase, and the helmets appeal to the completionist in me, so they will join the ranks eventually, but will wait for a discount...

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

All I see is dust collectors... I'll be waiting for some more swooshable stuff.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

The droid looks pretty sweet and at 59.99, it's actually a pretty alright starting point, I might wait for that to drop a little though. The scout helmet looks pretty good too, that's my fav Imperial Trooper type. Vader on the other hand look obese.

Gravatar
By in Hong Kong,

Vader leaves a lot to be desired, especially the snout part.

Gravatar
By in Norway,

These all look very good! Not something I'd ever want to own, but a big improvement over the first helmets. And the snow covered base for the probe droid was a very good idea.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

If Vader's triangle grill was fully printed i think it would look better

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Vader looks strangely happy.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Too many studs on Vader's helmet, but that's a personal preference.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

When the instructions are released, people can build their own "arty" Vader helmets

Gravatar
By in Australia,

In 2016, ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ reintroduced Darth Vader as a frightening, indestructible, relentless warrior, who was not afraid to go full beast mode.

Five years later, LEGO failed to capture that in a helmet which was much less terrifying.

That said though, I really like the other two. Scouts are my favourite troopers after all.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

That probe droid is going to 'become' minifig-scale, gain an alien pilot, and join an Alien Conquest invasion!

Superb model.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Looks like the probe droid will be the hard one to find initially. Might wait 6 months until there's enough stock. I haven't seen the 501st battle pack since xmas and it vanished so fast I was left smelling the dust left behind. Really wish Lego would get their act together for stocking high demand sets.

Wait... you have Lego that DOESN’T collect dust?!
Please, share with us all your dust-repelling Lego secrets!!

By in Puerto Rico,

The helmets look nice to me as does the droid but even thought thw Scoit Trooper helmet is a beast I won't be buying it.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Anyone else find it weird that the probe droid is grey? Maybe I need to look at the source material more closely.
As to the Vader helmet, he looks like he has buck teeth. The grille should have continued onto the part below the triangle tiles. The bit above the eyes looks a bit weird but I'm ok with it cos they needed some way to make them rounded.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Darth Vader looks kinda cute :o) Like an anime character.

I wasn't in to the helmets last year when I saw the pictures, but I recently bought the Iron Man helmet and really liked it, and just last week also bought Boba Fett and the Stormtrooper. I'll definitely be buying Darth Vader, and maybe the Scout Trooper eventually.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Love the Vader Helmet, its my favourite from both waves Bobba Fett is second, the droid is cool aswell!

I'd really like it if lego did Buildable Heads in general like Darth Maul, Jar Jar, Admiral Thrawn, Bossk etc..

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Vader helmet is very underwhelming, honestly, there’s so much that could’ve been improved. For one I wish the helmet was smooth and not covered in studs. Did they really look at this and think that was the best they could do? For such an iconic charter I expected more.

Gravatar
By in United States,

For some reason, I want to see these helmets decorated with Dots XD

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The Imperial Probe Droid is the most interesting buy as only ever available before around mini-fig waist height as an accessory in 75138 or polybag 911838. Only concern is the head and base should be about the same width and height, and the head easily rotates. Whereas this base looks too large or the head too small, and not clear whether the head can rotate.

Gravatar
By in France,

Love that droid!!

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

Vader is going to be a dust magnet and Scoutie a yellow magnet.

Vader and Probe Droid are $69.99 and Scout Trooper is $49.99. The last batch were all $59.99, so there's really only a $10 different once you get all 3.

Gravatar
By in United States,

That Probe Droid is QUALITY! Is this the first time that the display plaque has been A. Integrated into the base of the droid, and B. Decorated with the environment of the set?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm in on the Probe Droid for sure, and potentially the Biker Scout helmet, which would be my first helmet.

Gravatar
By in United States,

They all look wonderful!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm surprised that we're 40 comments in and there's been no mention of 75227 Darth Vader Bust, the 2019 Star Wars Celebration exclusive sold in limited release by Target. That upset a lot of people, even though it was/is easily Bricklink-able.

I like all the studs on this although I know there are plenty of people who prefer the sleed tiled look.

I'm curious if there will be a price difference for Vader from the "standard" of $59.99 USD given its significantly higher piece count.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I was skeptical of the Probe Droid as a concept for retail but I really love it. The Hoth snow flourishes are a really nice touch. Getting that for sure.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Strange, I thought that Droid probe was pitch-black?

Gravatar
By in United States,

If you’re going to remove the prices from the article because they’re inaccurate, could you remove mention of pricing in the article?

So far I’ve just got Fett’s helmet. The Scout Trooper and Jango are the other two at the top of my list. I’ve been waffling over buying the TIE and Stormie, so I guess I’ll have to come to a decision soon. The Probe Droid, on the other hand, is something I just mentioned wanting. I’d have preferred even larger, but this will do.

@Johnny__Thunder97:
These started out orange until the Modular Cinema made a green one to go with one of the movie posters. Then green started popping up everywhere. Later, teal came in one set, got a lot of comments, and suddenly every set had them in teal. Single-packs are still orange, so that is apparently locked in for the foreseeable future, but I suspect that as soon as one designer is willing to burn an element slot on a new color, everyone else bandwagons because they’re sick of the previous color.

@Judgeguy:
Nope. The eyes are black, but the body is a very dark grey. This color isn’t an exact match, but it’s as close as you’re going to get without going over.

Gravatar
By in United States,

now i want to make Ezra's scout trooper helmet from Rebels ^_^

Gravatar
By in United States,

That Scout Trooper helmet is a definite buy for me, might even pick up the probe droid. I don't think I'll get Darth Vader though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

DV’s eyes don’t look right, he looks too surprised or cheery. But the scout trooper looks awesome.
Probe droid looks more for hard core collectors. Not sure there’s much general appeal to it.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Not sure what prices everyone is looking at, but the are similar to before. Darth Vader went up $70 +$10 because of piece count. The Droid is the same as the other helmets at $60 and the Scout Trooper actually went down $10 to $50. So prices sounds great.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Somehow LEGO has a way of creating a set I didn’t even realize I wanted A WHOLE LOT...that Probot is sick!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Darth's helmet doesn't look menacing enough, maybe it is just a bad angle. Looks like he has a cute little button nose and kind of a happy face. I think he's been "Disney-fied".

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

All the helmets look meh to me and i have no interest in getting them but that probe droid is a day one purchase for sure!

Yes! I mean if that's not a contest waiting to happen, I don't know what is....

Disappointed in Darth Vader unfortunately, but the others look great. When I was a kid I loved my Biker Scout action figure, with his tiny gun and exploding bike

I'd love to see a rebel helmet next time round

one helmet is 70 and the other is 50. last batch they were all 60. seems like a wash to me. far from obscene. Are they more in the UK or something?

Gravatar

@PurpleDave I think Titanium Metallic would be the best existing Lego color for this, but I realize there are few parts in that color.

Unfortunately, the green version seems to be really rare, with the green version appearing in only a number of sets (there seems to be conflicting information in this regard):
- New style, https://brickset.com/parts/design-31510 / https://brickset.com/sets/containing-part-6240517 (2013, Palace Cinema)
- New style, https://brickset.com/parts/design-96874 / https://brickset.com/sets/containing-part-6000102 (2009-2013, including Horizon Express)
- Old style, https://brickset.com/parts/design-6007 / https://brickset.com/sets/containing-part-600728 (1996-2007)
Adding up to 7 sets of 765 sets having the new style Brick Separator in green, and 79 in teal.

Bricklink on the other side, lists the green version as only appearing 2 times out of 747 sets (2013's Palace Cinema and Horizon Express); and lists some of the above sets using design 6007 instead of design 96874.

Vader will be a day one buy. That helmet looks stellar. I only collect the named characters and Vader will fit in perfectly with the others.

@Judgeguy:
To expand on my previous reply, the Probe Droid seems a lot darker than it actually is because the only time we ever see it is in a brightly-lit snowscape. It’s surrounded by washed-out white terrain, and is often lit from behind or the side when it appears on-screen. It’s definitely dark grey, though. I’m just not sure now if dark-grey, dark-bley, or pearl-dark-grey is the most accurate color.

@Cooliocdawg:
No, Grievous was extremely top-heavy, so he was mounted to a display base that had a plaque (such as it was) incorporated into it. And all the UCS ships have had plaques that were surrounded by lots of empty space.

@560heliport:
I’m not familiar with that color name. Is it the official in-house name for pearl-dark-grey?

"Vader's mouth area just doesn't look right"

I think the grille should extend all the way down so as to fill the entire triangle. It's especially awkward when you look at the back of the box - the screen-version of Vader is set right next to the LEGO version and you can clearly see the difference on the grille. Why not just add another sticker below?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Its amazing all the different ways Vader doesn't look quite right to people... Generally agree with all of them.
Personally, i think the problem is that he just isnt looking up as usual.

Gravatar
By in Japan,

I know Vader has more pieces, (probably just small ones) but they just know they can charge $20 more, (piece count didn't make them charge differently between the first three, even though 75274 had about 75-100 more pieces then the other two) My guess is that they're all the same size, but since Vader is more iconic and desirable, they can get away with charging more.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm not really into the helmets, but I love that probe droid!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Something isn't *quite* right about the Vader helmet, but I'm not sure exactly what... Love the probe

Gravatar
By in United States,

@PurpleDave : Yes, Titanium Metallic is Pearl Dark Grey. I use LEGO's names for colors, weird as they often are, just because most of my LEGO info comes from Brickset and LEGO's set inventories, etc. (Can I call you BrightVioletDave? ;)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Given the all-important Disney-Tax, the price for the Probe Droid isn't half bad. There's been much worse sets (and smaller) SW sets for much more money in recent years.

I was actually thinking about that set. While this is much bigger and has a much more accurate shape, I feel like the bust is much better in terms of detail and a more attractive set. I never knew it was easy to put together on Bricklink so I may have to try that, especially if it comes out much cheaper than the helmet.

Someone actually posed this question to a Lego designer at Bricks Cascade. The short answer is color contrast. They picked orange because it typically stands out among other pieces making it easier to locate, but obviously this isn't true for all sets. Teal was introduced to address that problem. The designer also gets some say in which one is included.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Probe Droid and scout trooper both look fantastic — especially the Viper droid. Very cool to see Lego branching out and creating new things like this!

That Vader on the other hand....it’s hard to put a finger on any one thing, but there’s definitely something off about it. Would it really have been that hard to extend the grill down a bit?

Appears in black and grey, although it's normally grey, lighting can mess it up. https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Probe_droid

I love the probe droid! It will probably be my first UCS set!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Vader is ugly. I don't understand the stud-fest. The robot is very nice!

Gravatar
By in United States,

The helmets haven't impressed me thus far, and the streak continues.

But that Probe Droid is fire!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Honestly, the Darth Vader helmet doesn't look that great, but SIGN ME UP FOR THE SCOUT TROOPER HELMET THAT LOOKS FREAKING AWESOME

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Yes Yes YES!!! Scout Trooper! So excited to see my favorite trooper get this treatment, doesn't look too bad, either. Day one purchase for sure!

Nice to see Vader as well, but definitely looks a little off. I might consider getting it.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The helmets sets don't really appeal to me at all, and these are no different. And I'm guessing that the concealed part of the build consists of pink, purple, orange, green, etc. colored pieces.
The probe droid on the other hand looks pretty good, but based on this picture they got the color wrong if it is light bley, they should have gone with dark bley.

The pictures definitely show it as dark bley and not light bley

Is it just me or is Vader looking a little surprised? Like the mask is shook.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@elangab:
He’s entering his punk phase. See? He’s even starting to grow out a mohawk!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Yeah, looking at Vader again, they missed the mark.
I don't know how they missed it so much.
Looks like they sacrificed the cheeks to make it more proportional to Vader's helm from front and side views but when you look 3/4 it's glaring the distinctive Vader slopes on both cheeks aren't there.
Plus also a stability issue too. The cheeks like that are probably more sturdy to grab in that area.
Give's it like a chimpmunk or cartoon animal look.
You lose his menacing presence and stare.
Then a really glaring one is the grill. The grill goes ALL the way down, not that little area there.
Is it another budget thing?
Can't we put a sticker to complete the grill?
I'm hoping before I purchase someone has a solution to mod him better.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Does anyone know if the correct pieces exist in olive green color to change the scout trooper to match the ones from Episode 3?
