Looney Tunes CMF series reveal imminent

Posted by ,

LEGO has teased the proper reveal of the Looney Tunes series of Collectable Minifigures, which will be taking place across all of their social media platforms ahead of a May release.

Three minifigs are set to be revealed tomorrow: Porky Pig on Twitter, Bugs Bunny on Facebook, and Tweety Bird on Instagram.

Are you excited for these minifigs to become available? Let us know in the comments.

I have no interest if they don't have use in a dysfunctional app.

By in Poland,

I admire your PR oriented, leak proof info.

All figures are known, LEGO should release the info already, but nooo, let's make some PR nonsense out of it.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Shame they’d already been leaked/discovered

Gravatar
By in Slovakia,

they are already available in some stores , Lego is again little bit late with official pics :)

Gravatar
By in Norway,

..... Gee, i wonder how they look like....

Gravatar
By in Italy,

In my shop I have already pre-sold several series ... This news arrives with a delay of about a week.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Seems rather pointless to do it this way when they're already out in the wild and legitimately in peoples hands. Theres only a couple of them I'm interested in anyway as some just don't work as mini-figures. (Roadrunner and Tweetie).

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Would rather a CMF series of Marvel characters, Arrowverse characters and LOTR characters :)

Gravatar
By in Australia,

They'd go well with the Disney minifigures, I want to recreate scenes from Roger Rabbit.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Why isn’t tweety on Twitter?

"warning: the following message contains a lethal dosis of sarcasm"

Looney tunes CMF: OMG! What, when, where, how and most importantly: why??

Hashtag Sigh!

Discriminated against for making a stand and not being on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram etc. This is the only place in the world that I ever comment, and it’s fairly rare.
Oh dear, what is this world coming to when you HAVE to be in the lawless world of social media to not to feel excluded.

Gravatar
By in United States,

They all look pretty good as minifig, except Road Runner. Oof.

I’ll be getting Taz and Marvin. They bring back some fun video game memories.

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

Honestly out of maybe Martian Marvin there aren't any minifigures I want.

Instagram, Twitter and Facebook are apparently the only places in the internet where the looney tunes cmfs haven’t been revealed. That’s the discrimination!

Agreed on Marvel/MCU and LOTR/Hobbit series! There are so many missed opportunities in both franchises.

Marvel:
Accurate Pepper Potts
Peggy Carter
Accurate Happy Hogan
TFATWS Falcon
TFATWS Bucky
Bro Thor
Hank Pym
Janet Van Dyne
Aunt May
Updated Nick Fury
Captain America (John Walker)
Baron Zemo

Plus a WandaVision series

By in United States,

Glad there are only 12 as it'll be easier/cheaper to get them all. No major characters missed.

It's frankly downright shocking that Looney Tunes has somehow gotten ahead of Marvel or even Star Wars (and I say that as someone who is pretty ambivalent towards Star Wars). There's a such a gold mine of untapped potential from MCU characters alone who have never made into sets or who have thus far been very hard to get (Warriors Three, M'Baku, Obadiah Stane, Wong, etc etc).

Gravatar
By in United States,

If Lego does a Marvel CMF, would they be able to include Spider-Man, X-Men and Fantastic Four characters alongside the Avengers or are they still hesitant?

You can read Twitter and Instagram without an account. You might be safer drinking out of a truck stop toilet than loading Facebook, though...

Gravatar

I'm slightly disappointed that they couldn't have come up with a more annoying way to reveal them.

A Marvel CMF series is rumoured for release in Q3.

By in Ireland,

I am excited for these minifigs to become available.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

People should realize that because they re involved in deep information networks about leaks doesn't mean that everybody is. A lot of people still follow the official news to be informed about products. Now the fact that stores are jumping the gun and selling them already is another problem altogether. But for an implementation as big as Looney Tunes, they certainly should be making official announcements...

This one is a bit of a grey area/ loophole to Brickset's rules, as they were seen in stores first, but it still felt like an unofficial leak. It's a bit weird that the official announcement is coming so late, especially if some stores have them already.

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

Nevermind another mismanaged 'reveal', I've zero interest in this series. Wasn't mad about the Disney ones and these are worse. Worst of a bad bunch is Roadrunner with minifig legs. Just... no.

Shh, don't tell anyone that you have already seen all the figures, or else swarms of LEGO lawyers will hunt you down and try to drag you to court for... whatever stupid reason they see fit.
This company is so out of touch with reality nowadays, it beggars belief.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I just want pictures of Spider-Man! *shakes fistful of newspapers*

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

With regard to LEGO continuing their announcement plans when the minifigures are already being sold, would that not be expected? LEGO has evidently expended time electing how the minifigures should be revealed and abandoning this strategy would be wasteful, particularly since many people not frequenting Fan Media and online communities might be unaware of the existing images.

Of course, they might have considered advancing their planned announcement but that was clearly not possible, perhaps because of existing agreements with Warner Bros.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

All of these companies are so scared of being sued these days that the whole PR business has turned into a complete 3-ring circus. It’s too big now. So the nonsense will continue.

That aside, I did see the pictures of the minifigures on brickset a few days ago and I really like them. But then I like the Vidiyo figures too. But then I’m female and into a lot of crazy colours.

Gravatar
By in Italy,

I hope we will get a Roadrunner, with proper legs, not minifig legs...

Gravatar
By in Russian Federation,

Do you think there'll be Elmer ?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Harmonious_Building
I actually see it the opposite way, I think this approach makes sense. Those themes have many (maybe hundreds) of minifigs throughout their lifespan.

The CMF series are a great space for new IP’s that Lego wouldn’t make into an entire theme. It gives them a way to have fun with a line of minifigs without committing large portions of their product strategy.

Gravatar
By in Spain,

Absolutely!! I am looking to but them all...and various series!!

Aah, I missed them but not really of interest to be honest.
It was more tongue in cheek after reading comments yesterday on VIDAYO, regarding the negative effects of the online world. Which obviously I tend to agree with.
Strange times ;-)

@Phoenixio:
Yeah, not everyone who collects LEGO products (or Looney Tunes products) is going to be checking AFOL sites for leaks. But, anyone complaining on Brickset about being shut out of these announcements, when Brickset has already posted images of the box and insert, just hasn’t been paying attention (which has already been confirmed). It happens, and it’s not a big deal. Nobody died over it (probably). And I’m sure the official announcements will get reposted here anyways, which works out for those of us who wouldn’t touch Facebook with someone else’s ten foot pole.

@CapnRex101:
They often do appear to have shifted the timetable when major leaks happen. It’s not uncommon to see the official announcement made within a day of everyone reading about it elsewhere. And if this were a numbered wave, I’m sure that’s exactly what would have happened. For Looney Tunes, maybe this ties into something bigger that WB has planned, so the date is immutable? They might even be who picked that weird strategy. I don’t know how many times I’ve seen people complain about such-and-such licensed set being announced exclusively through some non-LEGO print magazine, but often it’s because the studio that sub-licensed the construction toy rights also happened to have signed an exclusive PR deal with some Hollywood media company and every bit of merchandise has to be announced there first, or not at all.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Yooha and @mafon2 we already know we're not getting Elmer Fudd (at least in this series) and that Roadrunner WILL have minifigure legs, unfortunately. See Related Articles "Looney Tunes collectable minifigures discovered in CA!"

No more Lego-leaks and searching for parts,

By in United Kingdom,

Teasers can be exciting when done right. As mentioned there might be existing agreements and strategies with WB, but they might need to look at advancing reveals in future. Funny that people have already bought new Shang-Chi and Speed Champion sets that haven’t been revealed by Lego yet apart from retailer listings.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I’m a big Lego fan, but I don’t really care to follow a lot of the details that others here do (if it’s your thing, by all means). Can someone explain in a sentence or two how something can be for sale that hasn’t yet been announced?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@B_Space_Man:
Sure. You know what a “street date” is? Stuff like DVDs, CDs, and video games have firm dates that they’re allowed to go on sale, so they can ship product early to ensure it’s ready to shelve everywhere on that date. Toys often have their own street dates (these probably should have gone on sale on May 1), albeit without the severe financial penalties for breaking that date, so sometimes stores will shelve product as soon as it arrives, while the official announcement is timed based on the idea that everyone will wait.

Before the Looney Tunes CMF series, there were exactly 0% of possible Looney Tunes characters made. Try beating that with Marvel or Star Wars!

Seriously, in the current age of everything being part of a massive media conglomerate and the populace demanding more of the same safe homogenous entertainment (looking at you MCU), LEGO should be celebrated for stepping outside of the box and producing figures based on classics of Western animation. And if your problem with the Looney Tunes CMF is that it isn’t Marvel or Star Wars, maybe it’s because this series was not designed for you and that’s OK. Just don’t ruin the fun for the people who actually want Looney Tunes.

But hey if we’re pitching themes/figures for LEGO to do:
Neon Genesis Evangelion (very far fetched, I know)
Animaniacs
Naoki Urasawa’s Monster (very far fetched too)
Gertie the Dinosaur
Futurama

Gravatar
By in United States,

Will this include Elmer Fudd and Yosemite Sam to actually make it complete? They can ditch the lady pig and the bunny nobody's heard of that didn't appear in many episodes (if any). Forhorn Leghorn would be nice, too. He's another major character that's missing. Maybe swap him for the Roadrunner since that's such a terrible build.

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

Well, the leaks were ahead of them this time, but the last decade TLC has caught up in limiting the leakage to a degree. If they should make a bulletproof time frame from press release to set release it would have to be 12 month or so. That doesn't work either.

Gravatar
By in Latvia,

Hmm, I wonder who will be in this series. Probably not Bugs Bunny

Gravatar
By in United States,

@TheRightP_art:
Ooh, I would take over the world for Pinky & The Brain minifigs! Alas, Fox always hated Futurama, so that’s not very likely to happen.

@icey:
Whatever measures they’ve implemented still can’t do anything about accidental leaks or retailers breaking street date. This was obviously the latter, as CMF releases always happen on 1-1, 5-1, and 9-1 to keep them evenly spaced throughout the year. The last two major leaks I can recall were both instances where someone on LEGO payroll in, I think, Singapore accidentally sent out pictures on social media before the official announcement had been made.

However, those are just the ones that had a really wide effect that was hard to not hear about. Stuff gets leaked all the time, and if you want to go digging for it, it’s apparently not hard to find. It just doesn’t show up on most AFOL sites because it would jeopardize their R-status.

I was mostly just saying that these other themes should get a chance too. I don’t mind them making Looney Toons, I’m sure that many people will and do love these (except Roadrunner apparently). I just think they should do an MCU or LOTR series soon too.

Like SW, Marvel already gets a ton of sets, and most of them tie in to the MCU. If they do a Marvel CMF wave, I very much expect it to be in the same style as the DC wave, dipping into the neglected comic book history rather than focusing even more attention on the movies. Besides, the stuff you list is really just the sort of thing they’d use to fill out the set rather than what they’d focus on. No kid is going to spend their allowance on a CMF packet where the best you can expect is Obadiah Stane. He could work as part of the back half of a CMF set, or in a Bricktober 4-pack, but never as the headliner. With Black Panther 2 and Dr Strange 2 on the horizon, there’s still a chance for M’Baku and Wong to get minifigs. Given the reduction in size of the CMF release, the only real shot I see for the Warriors Three is a comic book Thor set, since they got killed off in the movies.

This is true, but it seems Lego is focusing on other stuff in Marvel. Either making their own stuff or doing the Avengers video game (sort of). There are so many things they could have done during the time between phases 3 & 4, especially with Disney+ bringing the rest of the movies (except Spider-man 1 & 2) back to the mass audience. There are so many things they missed, like Captain America 1 & 2, Thor, plus it doesn’t look like they’re following the Disney+ shows. It bugs me that Lego doesn’t follow some TV shows well in general. (e.g. Star Wars Rebels) It’s not that bug of a deal for me though. It helps me save money lol.

So far the Stranger Things set, and SDCC Barb, are the only two things I know of that are based on something locked behind a streaming paywall. I wouldn't count on seeing any D- sets outside of SDCC minifigs. Also, I don't think they've touched on any older Marvel movies, which is ironic as they've done so for Star Wars, Indiana Jones, LotR, Jurassic Park, Batman, Harry Potter, BttF, Ghostbusters, Tron, and probably a few other movies that I'm forgetting.
