Daily Bugle

©2021 LEGO Group

Here's a press release for yet another direct-to-consumer 18+ set that will be vying for your hard-earned cash later this month:

76178 Daily Bugle
Rated 18+, 3,772 pieces
€299.99 / £274,99 / $299,99 / 499.99 AUD / 399.99 CAD
Available from 26th May at LEGO.com

Today, the LEGO Group reveals the new LEGO Daily Bugle set, an intricate version of the iconic newspaper building, complete with the demanding editor, J. Jonah Jameson’s, and Peter Parker’s offices. Designed for grown-ups, it is the tallest LEGO Marvel set to date standing at 82cm tall and containing 3,772 pieces.

The Daily Bugle offices first featured in The Amazing Spider-Man comic series over 50 years ago in 1963 and remains a much-loved setting throughout the web-slinger’s various adventures. Workplace of Peter Parker, Ben Urich, Robbie Robertson, J. Jonah Jameson and Betty Brant, it is here that the iconic phrase of “Get me pictures of Spider-Man!” was first uttered.

The LEGO Daily Bugle is incredibly detailed both inside and out, with four floors, the front street and the back alley. The whole set is also modular meaning you can remove walls and floors to get to the action within.

Within the building there are several famous settings from the various universes, including the ground floor entrance that can be destroyed to look like an explosion has taken place and the newsroom on the first floor complete with the usual office furniture of desks and computers, but also much needed doughnuts and other treats!

Moving up to the second floor, the villainous Green Goblin can be seen smashing a window to get to Peter Parker’s office where his camera lies waiting for the next story. The top floor also features both Betty Brant and J. Jonah Jameson’s offices.

The detail doesn’t stop with the building, as the set includes a huge cast of 25 minifigures, featuring Spidey himself alongside his most famous friends and foes: Fire Star, Blade, Doctor Octopus, J. Jonah Jameson, Betty brant, Venom, Miles Moraes, Spider-Ham, Green Goblin, Gwen Stacy, Carnage, Punisher, Peter Parker, Spider-Gwen, Black Cat, Robbie Robertson, Ben Urich, Mysterio, Daredevil, Sandman, Aunt May, newspaper worker, New York taxi driver and a receptionist.

Mark John Stafford, LEGO Set Designer commented “I was seven years old when I was given my first Spider-man comic and I have always had an image of creating a LEGO model of the Daily Bugle and having Spidey and his Amazing Friends in conflict with his various enemies.

“One of my favourite elements is the Green Goblin flying inside the building through the window. Being able to design a moment of frozen action like this in a LEGO set has always been a dream and I finally got to make it happen! "

The impressive building is a true challenge for LEGO builders and Spider-Man fans alike thanks to its large scale and intricacies. Whether it’s part of a wider collection or a standalone piece it’s a set worthy of display.

LEGO Daily Bugle set is available for €299,99 / £274,99 / $299,99 from LEGO Stores and LEGO.com from 26th May for LEGO VIP members and 1st June, 2021 for all.

You can view more images on the set details page.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Must have. Absolutely awesome. Do the technic holes align with the 'standard' modular building series? That's even more awesome!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Daaaaaaaaaaaaang. Awesome.

By in Ireland,

Woah! I’m not a big Marvel fan but this is a perfect D2C! I wish all D2Cs could come with an amazing build of a desirable location or vehicle with this many spectacular figures!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Quick! Someone talk me out of spending $500 just to get the Daredevil, Punisher and Black Cat minifigs.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

They've done well to make the exterior a bit more interesting to look at by adding various paraphernalia. The interior looks awesome.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Old school Punisher look (with the peaked hair, white boots and gloves). Love it!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Sold!

Gravatar
By in Italy,

Now I want a modern office building in modular form.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Alright, now where's my Hall of Justice?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Lego y u do dis to me - spectacular, and the price is much less than expected.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Shame about all the trans-clear.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

This is a phenomenal set. Would look great in any LEGO Cityscape and the minifigure selection is perfect. Nearly every famous Spider-Man character in one set!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ooph. I will definitely be adding this to my our hase list as Spider-man is my favorite Marvel hero, but it's getting tough to fit all of these models into my Lego budget

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Love the Punisher minifig!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Looks really fantastic, but they really have given up on leg printing for Marvel figures, haven't they? Lots of them are okay without it, but Mysterio and Blade both look a bit odd with such detailed torso prints combined with plain legs.

The amount of detail is amazing though. I love the explosion effect for the Green Goblin, and those are by far the best arms for Doc Ock we've ever had. Sandman aggregating material is also nice.

I'm really hoping the big tiles are prints, not stickers!

Figure selection is good, a fair few carryover ones from other sets, but lots of those are perfect for the characters they represent, and there are also lots they really didn't need to include (Blade and Punisher are especially surprising - a benefit of the 18+ branding).

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Looks like a MOC made of Pick a Brick pieces. The taxi is really nicely done though.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Love it! I really wish they’d redesign Spider-Mans head not to have the stud on top. I’ve never liked how it looks.

At least it’s canon and pretty accurate to the comic Spider buggy!

Tbf, it's actually in the comics this time around. I remember that stupid little buggy driving up the walls.

Wow.

That is huge.

Gravatar

Where am I going to find extra $300 for this? *sigh

Gravatar
By in United States,

True to the OG Bugle, amazing design and detail, amazing minifigures, an amazing price for the minifigures and theme, probably the tallest set of all time and we don't have to wait very long to get it. I have nothing bad to say about this set.

Gravatar
By in Austria,

It seems to connect with the modulars but I guess it would look terrible next to them. Which saves me a lot of money. :-)

But I'll probably get the cab for my city.

Not sure who the target is for that. It's too expensive for kids, and too crude for a display model.

i imagine those connection points are for future Marvel buildings, which in comparison to the regular modular buildings would look pretty darn cool imo.

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

Love the inclusion of a highly accurate Spider-Mobile to troll so-called comic purists who don't realize that it's an actual, canon thing in the comics, albeit not taken seriously in-universe.

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll ever be able to afford this set in terms of either price or space (I'm sure it's going to be around $500 here, similar to 70840's $490). Good thing I have Spider-Man, Noir and Venom in 76150, and Miles Morales in 76171. A Spider-Man with unprinted arms, mind you. I can't stand how awful the arm printing looks, and I'd rather have unprinted arms than poorly printed arms.

I was enamored by a local listing of a sealed 76005 not too long ago, but the price seemed a little too good to be true...

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

It's tall, modular, comes with a lot of minifigures (although lots of reissues and only a handful new prints...) and a very cool taxi. But 300 euro? Compared to some modulars or Ninjago City sets this set is VERY cost effective for LEGO (300x panel 1x2x2, 40x rails, a lot of ladders and some grey bricks)!?

Gravatar
By in United States,

“So what Spiderman characters should we feature?”

“Yes.”

Gravatar
By in United States,

My only complaint is they really put in Firestar without iceman. I loved watching spiderman and his amazing friends growing up and it sucks that this set only includes 2/3rds of that team. But hey, I guess getting Firestar at all is an accomplishment in and of itself.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Great set, my only hope is that you are able to fix the window that the green goblin broke.

Gravatar
By in Turkey,

Most expensive CMF series ever...

Gravatar
By in United States,

So many great Easter eggs, and yet my favorite is that they dedicated a whole room to the “Spider-Man at a desk with a framed pic of Spider-Man on the wall” meme. This set is everything 10 year old me could’ve ever wanted!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Look at the the train tracks!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I want it! Sure, the fig selection could be better (especially the villains and they had to include iceman if we are getting firestar ), but this is what i hoped for!
The SpideyBuggy is on point! Nice touch!
I fear a big amount of stickers (also large stickers) coming up.
I’m going to change some of the figs (the hair of Robbie for example) to make them more to my liking.
The biggest flaw (except for the rehashed spidey villains) is that the daily bugle logo is surpassing the width of the building. That doesn’t look nice at all.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The Set is just fine but there's a few minifigs I'd be interested in too like DD, Punisher, black cat and Jonah! Gutted they didn't include the Punishers van so it's a good job I built him one! Blade's Torso is great but he has a goofy look on his face so I'll be changing his head and adding a Mowhawk.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Nothing wrong with it really, but it doesn't really wow me either. It's really just a Big Grey Thing, and kinda feels like a very pricey minifigure pack since the 25 minifigures are arguably more interesting than the Big Grey Thing.

I do love the way they did the tentacles for Doc Ock though, and the way they did the crashed window. Definitely a lot to like in the details, but I dunno how much I'd like it on display.

Jokes about you sounding like an 11 year old aside, people have different opinions. Some like it, some hate it. If they made a big Avengers tower, I’m sure some wouldn’t like it, just like you don’t like this one. It’s ok, you’ll be fine. Quitting a Lego theme, which I doubt you’ll do, simply because they don’t make a big set you want is pretty ridiculous. But you do you :)

By in Netherlands,

Glad to see there is a baseplate and option to link it to modulars.

What strikes me is how the corners of the baseplatw look. They seem to be dented and not round. But may be the lighting/renders.

I know lego is not producing the baseplates so maybe they started making their own now

As an editor myself, I can't help but notice that all of Lego's recent press releases are rife with poor punctuation and sentence structure... can't believe there's not a proper copyeditor anywhere at the company

Gravatar

I was soooooo hoping it would have the web (*rimshot*) printing press (like a Baker Perkins) in there somewhere.

Gravatar

I’m going to have to become a vigilante and sell photos of myself fighting crime to afford this.

Gravatar

This is awesome! I don't think I'll be able to get it, but I'd sure love to if the finances line up. What a great assortment of minifigs, too!

We always recommend improvements to LEGO, not to mention correcting numerous factual errors in press releases, but persuading them to make changes can be challenging! After all, those changes have to be returned to Disney for approval so I recognise the difficulty.

I'm more interested in this "Big Grey Thing" which I'd be happy to mod into generic high-rise. Hopefully there will be sufficient market to sell those minifigures and make it reasonable purchase.

Fantastic review. "The instruction manual can double as a blunt weapon" was my personal highlight.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I was tempted to get this set when I heard the rumours about it. I thought that, after removing all the Marvel stuff, it would look good as a regular skyscraper in a LEGO city layout. But I think that the inclusion of 25 (!) Marvel figures drives the price up. Furthermore, it looks like significant modification would be required to fix the building where the façade is blown out. It is nice though. I like the use of the train rails as an architectural feature.

Gravatar
By in United States,

So very epic!!!

Look at that Punisher - white boots and gloves!
That Daredevil!
That Firestar!
That Black Cat!
That Blade!
That Daily Bugle staff!
That Checker Marathon cab!
That Spider-Buggy!

This is a day-one purchase for sure!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

That's a good price for this. Nice selection of minifigs (even if I haven't heard of all of them) and a great set of parts to make several big City buildings. Not at all interested in it as the original model, though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

25 Minifigures? Holy Moly!
I really like the use of the old train tracks from the 80s on the side of the building used like Iron work. Now I know what to do with my old train tracks.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Out of my budget but I love that they finally included Daredevil and Punisher as minifigs. Hopefully they'll come out in other sets.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Nobody commenting on Manbun in the promo pics with a motorbike in his living room?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Incredible set, and you can incorporate into the modular buildings city! Wonderful!
It reminds me so much of the old Marvel comics pinups with cutaways of like the Fantastic Four's Baxter Building or Avengers Mansion, etc. showing all the rooms and details.
LOVE IT!
Must buy on my list.

Gravatar
By in Bulgaria,

Some very stupid ideas. For example, we have an elevator but without an elevator shaft and only a door.
On the other hand, the side stairs are absolutely unusable. You can climb to nothing.
Good interior stuff and a lot of figures, part of them we already have.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Well, guess I better start saving.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Photos on IG already show it amongst the modulars. It looks great! All the super heroes and flames attached to the building look a bit silly when next to the more serious modulars, but overall it works.

On close inspection it seems to be a combination of a (for this size of set) lower-than-ideal resolution image and lighting, other than that seems like a normal DBG baseplate.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I'm not a huge fan of this sort of set - but very happy for those who are and can expand their minifig collection but I was wondering shouldn't there be a Lizard? (Dr. Curtis Connors according to a google search). When I was a kid, I remember the story of a doctor morphing into a lizard. Is this not an important part of the Spiderman universe?

On a completely different note, let's assume that you remove all the cartoonish items and fixes all the windows and wall explosions/openings. You end up with a very big block of grey! Not quite sure if that'll look any good in any city. I wonder how that would look in tan? (would have required a lot of part recolour though).

If they do a 'proper' (i.e. gigantic) Avengers tower, then that might look interesting having the Daily Buggle flanked on one side by the Avengers tower and on the other side by the Ghostbusters office. Any other superhero tower/building that need the Lego treatment?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Seems pretty realistic then.. most skyscrapers / office buildings are boring and ugly!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow! Absolutely incredible. I was looking through it and thought "the only thing that would make this better is a Daredevil minifigure. And then, lo and behold, I saw the Daredevil minifigure :-)

I would never have thought of this ahead of time, but seeing the Firestar minifig, the only thing that would improve this is having Iceman too. And maybe an oversized Kingpin fig. But this set really seems to be beyond criticism. Incredible.

The big three "New York" Marvel buildings would be The Avengers Tower and then the Sanctum Sanctorum. Oscorp is another one. I imagine a giant Avengers Tower is probably next. It was only a matter of time honestly (although it'll still likely be a couple of years).

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I love Spider-Man; he's my fave superhero of all time. I'll admit I haven't read a Spidey comic since the McFarlane days, but can someone explain why we have Gwen Stacy in this set but no Mary Jane? I'm confused!! Also, no Flash Thompson?

Apart from that, wow!! Amazing set, apologies for the pun. Definitely be picking this up. No GWP though?

Gravatar
By in United States,

My Modulars display is still overrun with a massive DC hero/villains battle amongst all the scattering civilians, so this set is gonna be cool— once the Buggy is never built, and I port over a few other Spidey villains from my son's collection like like Lizard, Hobgoblin, Kraven and more-classic Green Goblin—and add two Spider-Men pointing at each other to Complete All The Memes.

Interesting that this set has the same number of new minifigure prints as Ninjago City Gardens, with 12 in total, not counting new hair colours.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I had always been planning on converting 76005 to a modular, and this saves me the trouble. I have to say, though, that it bothers me that there's no elevator for this skyscraper...[edit] Okay, having looked closer, I do see elevator doors, but I can't figure out where the elevator is located based on the outer appearance.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I’m likely going to get this. It’s a shame that the scarlet spider is shown on the tv but isn’t included in the set though. But with that size and many new minifigures, it is a very tempting set. Especially since it will likely be the only time to get a daredevil, punisher, or blade minifigure.

By in United States,

What? No Iceman? (Or Icey's alter ego, Bobby Drake, or Firestar's alterego Angelica Jones?) What kind of set is this???!!!??? :)

Seriously, as a newspaper man, this is the first real newspaper set I've seen and it's long, long overdue from the Lego group. Journalism and media – other than the occasional TV trucks/vans we've seen through the years – seems to be under-represented in the Lego world, especially with the City and I'd think the Creator Expert modular buildings.

I didn't see a printing press in the images ... I'm assuming there is one?

(Such as Blow Hard, that version's Sandman (Luis Avalos as a "Wee Willy Winky"-type burglar and pickpocketer, the Birthday Bandit and a few others.) And a few props and the storybooks to create some play possibilities.

An accessory pack with the Lizard, the Jackal, Electro, the Scorpion, the Shocker, Tombstone, Jack O'Lantern, the Spot, White Rabbit, and Frog-Man along with a Spider-Slayer build would be a pretty neat thing to be available at a later date.

Just sayin’.

BTW - nice Easter Egg with Kurt Conners (the Lizard), Miles Warren (the Jackal), and the Scarlet Spider (Ben Reilly, a clone of Peter Parker created by Miles Warren) on that screen.

Of course it's not going to appeal to everyone, but I think it's great that they have a couple of Spidey iterations so that people can feel they have "their" Spiderman as a focus.

Looks like they’ve been made out of the funny little posing handles that were used in the DC superheroes collectible line:

A super versatile piece it turns out, people were raving about it as soon as they saw it

I’m mostly impressed, just disappointed how smooth the walls are. In 76057 there were deliberate patches of studs on the walls to let you stick spider-powered characters to them like they were climbing. There doesn’t seem to be any such useful feature here, you’ve got to make so with them grabbing on to things

There's several posable points in the set still, including on the walls!

The set looks great! And I can justify the cost for once haha.

It is a shame that most figures are just repeats from other smaller sets that have been released in the last few years. The new figures are awesome!

I'll have to sit on it a bit and see if I can justify buying the set vs sourcing the few new (highly sought after and expensive) figures alone.

I do like the details overall. And the clear panels work better for windows than I would expect.

And monorail track pieces?? They sure like to tease the monorail.

I'm assuming there is one?"

I like the verticality of this set and the material is on point, but it's amusing that they put a low-effort Spider-Man vehicle in the set knowing it's completely unnecessary, reduces profit margins, and may even detract from the aesthetic. Someone at Lego knows that AFOLs hate Spider-Man vehicles and is actually taunting us.

Gravatar

This set looks insane! I never thought LEGO would make something this tall or modern - it's practically the height of my modified Avengers Tower. I love the glass explosion design and getting 25 minifigures in a $300 licensed set is a dream come true. Can't wait to pick this up!

Looks exciting, and the minifigure selection pretty much has you covered if you have a ton of money and no prior Spider-Man sets. The set's way out of my budget and I can easily pass it, but it's pretty cool. You hit the nail on the head.

Let’s be honest - for whom are these Marvel and DC Superhero toys intended, really? The big kids who voraciously read comic books back in the 70s and 80s and watched superhero cartoons and had been waiting 30+ years for the superhero movies, television shows, and cartoons we enjoy today; that’s who.

The same goes for Star Wars. My son loves Star Wars because I got him into it. Most of his friends barely know any of the characters and have seen neither the movies nor the cartoons.

We’re now getting the toys we could only dream about as kids!

Gravatar
By in Russian Federation,

Not sure how to feel about this set. I'm trying to imagine - if I was into comic books, would I enjoy a set like this? It looks impressive, but it seems to be more about playability than looks (much more so than the Modular Buildings), which is not an approach that I like, especially on a set bearing the 18+ label.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

No interest in Marvel, but I may well buy this. Selling off the insane amount of minifigs and the admittedly awesome looking New York taxi (my city is European) might leave a pretty solid value Lego skyscraper. With some work it can be made into something more generic. Yet another expensive set to add to my wishlist...

This will be my first ‘big’ Lego set I have bought in about 3 years. Day 1 purchase. No Iceman is a let down though. I’d have to pack away that big black spider that’s crawling up the wall though. Would give me heart palpitations if I ever saw that on my Lego.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Minifigs are awesome. The building however looks extremely boring, repetitive and grey. Maybe a lot of play features, but as a display piece an enormous dissapointment.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow look all those railroad track pieces (3228 a/b/c)!! I counted 16 per floor, and it looks like there are four floors so ~64 track pieces?!? (Might be 63 as the bottom front appears to have one less). That's gotta be some kind of record outside of old train sets.

I'd like to highlight the fact that it's the third time this year that LEGO has surprised modular fans with something massive and "unplanned", with the 71741 Ninjago City Gardens, and to some extent the 80107 Spring Lantern Festival. And that's not counting the Bricklink initiative and what might com out of it. That's a lot of care for big set builders, and modular fans. So whatever people say, there definitely is a lot of attention put towards satisfying AFOLs and city builders, even if it's not all in the main modular line.

It fits nicely next to the Police Station due to having a paper stand as well. I could also see it near the Downtown Dinner, or the Bank. Since it has side alleys, some modular should be avoided, like Assembly Square, who begs to have a building right next to it on each side. But nonetheless, every downtown has those giant glass towers and this is a great addition, even if not as "european townhouses" as some of the other modulars. The biggest clash is in the colors, but I suspect there'll be more on the grey scale in the future.

Gravatar
By in United States,

IMHO the Daily Bugle building fits right in with the other modular buildings. I envy the people with the funds and the space to put together a display incorporating all of those buildings.

Imagine adding Four Freedoms Plaza, Avengers Tower (or Avengers mansion), the Sanctum Santorum, and Oscorp (or Alchemax)!

I can also imagine adding the Hall of Justice, the Daily Planet building, STAR Labs, Wayne Enterprises, and LexCorp.

Oh, how cool would that look, with superheroes and supervillains mixed in with regular folks!

By in Netherlands,

Absolutely amazing, although it looks like it'll have a gazillion stickers, including some big ones, and for a 300 dollar set aimed at adults I feel they could've gone with prints by eliminating one or two of the more obscure minifigs.

I feel like this also could've been a 200 dollar set, if they'd left out the backside of the building, a few minifigs, and some unnecessary stuff, like the Spider-Man vehicle, which feels out of place here. With all those good big sets LEGO is putting out lately, 300 bucks makes it easy to pass on this, regardless of how cool it is. On the other hand, it's likely priced to be discounted, so that would sweeten the deal.

Then again, the minifigure selection is mind-blowing, for the most part: The Punisher, Dare Devil, Blade, Miles Morales, Green Goblin, and even friggin' Firestar. No Iceman, though. We need those Spider Friends! Perhaps we'll get Peter Parker's apartment from that show someday soon.

Great addition to a modular collection--finally, a Brutalist skyscraper to represent the financial/commercial center of the city. Light Tan instead of Light Stone Gray would be more like the buildings we have in Raleigh, NC, but other than that it's a dead ringer for several of them. Gravatar
By in United States,

Lego really went over-the-top with this...and that's not a good thing. 25 minifigures is serious overkill. Even 10 or 12 would seem like too many. For an 18+ set, they need to calm down and cut back on minifigures and play features (like a truck climbing the wall) and reign things in. I was hoping for something more along the lines of 75827 Ghostbusters HQ. ...but this isn't it. Not even close. It's like they designed it for kids, but then put the 18+ branding on it when the price came in at THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS!

If I got this (and "IF" is doing some heavy lifting there), I would be bricklinking most of the minifigures (including ALL the villains) the first week. I'd also look at leaving the bright red fire escape off the building or maybe replacing it with black bricks.

As it is, this would seem really out of place in my city.

Joking. But seriously this is a great fun set, in my opinion, with lots going for it. Just because it has 18+ branding doesn’t mean it can’t have fun play features or needs to have bland real-world colouration. I mean, look at a couple of other 18+ sets… Sesame St and Winnie the Pooh comes to mind…

Once again it's painfully obvious that a certain segment of LEGO fandom has a chronic problem with expectation management. By now it should be clear to EVERYONE except the most clueless newcomers that expecting unique minifigures with leg and arm printing etc. for every new set like this is a downright idiotic assumption.

Yes, you're going to get reissued minifigs and new variations are probably not going to have the printing you want. At what point will you come to terms with reality and stop clinging to hopelessly unrealistic expectations? For some people the answer is obviously NEVER.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Certainly different to everything seen before in the Spiderman universe. I would have loved to have seen how this was pitched to get approval as appears to be one of those over ambitious Lego Ideas project that looks great, but the decision makers are hesitant about putting so many grey bricks in one basket. I'm curious to see how it looks on modular street, either striking or out of place. Personally, just worried the build may be a bit repetitive, and customers may wish to spend $300 completing or doubling up on their Ninjago downtown first.

I bet people who are buying Star Wars UCS models are. This is a ridiculously good PPP when you consider that clear panels and grey SNOT bricks and rails, not 1x1 tiles, make up the plurality of the parts in this set. And PPP is absolutely a valid metric when you're buying a set specifically for the parts.

Even I as someone who prefers bright colors and doesn't build oversized models know that there's probably enough clear panels and SNOT bricks in here to last me a good number of years — if I were buying it just for the parts and not the build. (Though the ~500 SGD is much less appealing than 300 USD.)

By in Australia,

Comparing this to other sets in the price range, such as Ninjago City Gardens, Disney Castle and Mos Eisley Cantina, I’m struggling to see how Lego can justify the price tag. Apart from the impressive range of minifigs, the rest of the build seems……well, bland, Its literally one great big grey box with some details on the inside. This pales in comparison to past sets released in this price point, especially when you consider how great the Helicarrier and Ghostbusters HQ were, not to mention the original Ninjago City set. Other than keen Marvel fans (which I guess there are probably a lot of), I can’t really see this set being all that popular. Nope! I included all the parts in the explosion that are required to build the window intact.

"

That is fantastic. I have seen a couple of videos online where people are speculating as to whether or not there are enough pieces to rebuild the wall if you didn't like the explosion. Someone needs to spread the word that all the necessary pieces are included. Also, it kind of adds a touch of realism to the model. One would expect to be able to reproduce at least most of a structure from the rubble of an explosion. :-)

I'm very tempted to get this set, even though I'm not really fond Marvel, or DC, or any comics for that matter. (Although I do like The Boys on Amazon Prime. But I'm not holding out for a LEGO set featuring that IP anytime soon.) This tower would make great addition to a modular city layout, and it does include about the same number of citizen-looking characters as would be included in a typical modular.

Are people buying this only for the minifigs? That's ignoring 3500+ pieces right there..."

Seriously noone is buying this for the boring monotonous grey lump of grey, right?"

(Though the ~500 SGD is much less appealing than 300 USD.)"

It know for sure you will be much better of simply buying the parts you need on the 2nd hand market...

I'd love to buy one but I have not enough room by now.
Too much Star Wars and Marvel stuff already everywhere...

I don't know where you live, but 2nd hand market is always incredibly more expensive than buying sets. No shop ever has everything you want, so not only do you often pay inflated prices, but you also pay for shipping multiple times.

In comparison, this set has everything you need to make an office tower right off the bat. And for those who are patient enough, reselling the minifigs will cut down on the price tremendously. I'd say it's the perfect way to get an office tower started.

Not that this set needs anymore minifig cake icing, but if there was ever a prime opportunity to include Stan Lee as a casual civilian (cab driver, etc.), this would’ve been it.

Yeah; that would have been an icing-on-cake addition if ever there were one.

Brutalist? Wouldn’t that require it to be a huge, imposing blocky concrete structure, not steel frame and glass? I’d say this is modernist.
"

You have a point--it depends on whether you decide all the light bley represents concrete or steel. To me it looks more like concrete, especially when you factor in the "decorative" texture from the train tracks. I may have to replace some of the windows with more "concrete" to get the full Brutalist effect. But IMO modernist buildings tend to have a more graceful (or at least less heavy) appearance.

From what I’ve seen, brutalist buildings do not have the steel skeleton frame visible under cladding on the outside as modernist buildings tend to; rather, they are typically featureless swaths of concrete dotted with relatively small windows. True, some designs feature bold shapes and supports enrobed in smooth concrete, but that’s not what this building is about.

I think you’d have to remove the train tracks/steel beams to eliminate or reduce the look of the steel skeleton frame, and replace about 2/3 of the glass with bley (heh). That would create a much flatter, more monolithic look that would better pass for concrete. Setting the windows back a stud or two would promote the brutalist aesthetic, making it look as if the concrete is attempting to dominate the windows.

I started reading Spider-Man back around 1985, and I don't recognize some of these characters.
Are Ron Barney and Amber Grant existing characters?
Are the Robbie Robertson and Ben Urich cartoon/alternate universe versions? They don't look like the Robbie and Ben I know.

Robbie’s hair should be the same color as JJJ’s, and I don’t remember him ever having a mustache in the comics; but if you’re gonna do it, Lando’s works.

By in United States,

Aside from needing to produce Robbie Robertson’s wig in grey, LEGO needs to create a new wig to represent the tight waves that Flint Marko, Norman Osbourne, and DC’s Captain Marvel/Shazam have all traditionally been depicted as having. That would mean both having a better ability to create minifigs that closely resemble source material and an ability to create a wider variety of original minifigs.

WAH-WHO-ZA...that's a lot o' bricks...:)
While not a Marvel-Zom...er, Guy any more; there's a lot I can like and appreciate:
-The Building/Structure:...Yup; that's 'the Daily Bugle', both time-less and and timely...with a bit of irony in that last term...good use of parts (hey TLG, bring back those Classic rails for Trains...and make adapters to tie 'em with the new rail system...). I like the 'break-out' parts, making it more dynamic.
-Vehicles: The cab makes sense (you have a Cabbie), but the 'Spider-Buggy'...think the Punisher's van would have been better, but what do I know...Speaking of Frank...
-Minifigures: Ok...this is a 'deep-dive' into multiple bodies of water. My Faves? Never in a million years would I have thought that a Punisher minifigure would see the light of day...but after, what 4 Deadpool figures (3 SDCC versions, and one in that Wolverine set). But then again; Daredevil...it's about time (a friend of mine was a HUUUGE DD fan in the day). Firestar? AWE-SOME, and her classic costume yet...:). And even though he's 'been done', I have the original 'First Appearance' of Spider-Ham ('Marvel Tails Present no.1 '). Just gonna' 'jump over' a bunch, and end with this: Blade is really an 'odd man out' here. I know he was in the Fox Kids series (along w/Punisher, Daredevil, Black Cat...), but...dunno, they should have put in Morbius: The Living Vampire as a foe (more direct correlation).

Side-thought: I know the 'Daily Planet' won't be happening (this year at least), but maybe:
-Hall of Justice
-Watchtower
Although personally; I'd love to see an Apokolips-scape (that's how they spell it)...but with the New Gods movie now a bust...

Prefer DC to Marvel, but this will probably be a must have for me. Thank you for a detailed and iconic set with a back wall!! I've been hoping for a Daily Planet and Wayne Tower like this for years! Make it happen LEGO.

By in France,

I guess its just me then that finds it kinda ugly xD. But then I guess I'm not a big Spiderman fan.

Though it looks like a nice set if you were trying to collect all the Spider related figures and it has some I have never seen such as Blade and Punisher.

Also, a shame that Carnage doesn't have the printed arms...

I just count myself lucky it isn't a set related to Iron Man! Otherwise my wallet wouldn't be so happy.
