76391 Harry Potter Hogwarts Icons Collectors' Edition unveiled!
Posted by Huw,
LEGO has just lifted the invisibility cloak off a very unusual and intriguing Harry Potter set which celebrates the 20th anniversary of the theme. Here's the press release:
76391 Hogwarts Icons Collectors' Edition, 3010 pieces, rated 18+
€249.99 / AU$399.99 / £229.99 / $249.99 / CA$349.99

The LEGO Group is celebrating 20 years of LEGO Harry Potter with the reveal of the LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Icons Collectors' Edition, an intricate display model and a perfect homage to the fan-favourite Wizarding World.
The detailed new set follows the adventures of Harry Potter and his friends, capturing some of the most iconic characters and moments in one, single stunning model. The set also includes several famous artefacts found in the Wizarding World over the last two decades.
Sitting proudly at the centre of the set is Harry’s loyal owl, Hedwig, clutching the infamous Hogwarts letter. Fans will also find Harry’s wand and glasses, a chocolate frog, a potions tray including five potion bottles and ingredients, as well as Tom Riddle’s diary, the Golden Snitch and a school scarf which is customisable to match any Hogwarts House.
The combination lends itself to a striking display of 3010 pieces, measuring over 44cm high, 50cm wide and 33cm deep, and is completed with a bespoke stand and celebratory tile to mark the 20th anniversary of LEGO Harry Potter.
In addition, the set also comes with a trio of exclusive anniversary golden LEGO minifigures, including Albus Dumbledore, Minerva McGonagall and Rubeus Hagrid, as seen together in the first scene of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
Speaking about the set, LEGO Designer Marcos Bessa commented: “The timeless magic of Harry Potter never leaves you, and this new LEGO set is our way of celebrating 20 years of LEGO Harry Potter and the wonderful people and things found in it.”
“Every item in the set is filled with memories, from winning quidditch matches to iconic potion ingredients, not to mention getting that all-important letter. Building the Hogwarts Icons Collectors’ Edition Set is sure to bring fond recollections back for Wizarding World and LEGO fans alike, with this beautiful centrepiece.”

I think it's wonderful
Most impressive. What is the red and yellow on the bottom right?
Edit: is it the scarf?

Looks like the end of a scarf?
That's stunning. I love it, especially those flecks of black and grey in Hedwig's plumage. I didn't think I'd get any more HP sets, but now... my poor wallet. I'll definitely be getting this.
I have mixed feelings on this set. It’s an incredible design and a work of LEGO art, but I don’t understand why we’re getting a pile of random objects as our next HP D2C instead of something like Hogsmeade or Gringotts or the Ministry of Magic. I love the potion bottle builds and Hedwig in particular though and the exclusive minifigures are incredible. The set is amazing for what it is, I just wouldn’t have ever asked for this.
Unexpected and absolutely incredible. Day one purchase for sure!! It will look great as a stand alone piece I’m my living room :D
Wow really impressive model. I’m sure the HP fans are going to go nuts! Even has me intrigued as a non HP fan.
I nominate this for: SET OF THE YEAR
It is incredible!
Not a Harry Potter fan but that's a great looking set. Hedwig looks amazing!
Ha! I was recently wondering why there was no anniversary Dumbledore.
This is an absolute must have set! I love it!
This is so much better than the Hedwig from last year, it's simply perfect!
Especially the chocolate frog card.
OMG. ???? This is an immediate buy.
Honestly one of the cleanest looking sets I've ever seen. I would love to know who designed this.
Not interested in much of the set, but I love that Chocolate Frog Card design, I'll probably just get the parts for it on bricklink and display my Golden Harry in it. It does seem odd though to have two Hedwigs in two years
I'd have taken a "less is better approach" and restricted this to JUST Hedwig on the pile of books. The bottles, frog, wand, and glasses seem like overkill.
At first I thought this was a surprising choice for a set, but knowing how much of a market there is for Harry Potter replica props and similar display collectibles, I think it makes perfect sense (especially since LEGO seems to continue attempting to bring in adult collectors through as many different themes, brands, etc. as possible)
I'm amazed at all the positive comments about this set. The commenters must all be under some kind of magic spell.
When I look at it I wonder
a) where the over 3,000 pieces went as the set to me doesn't look like half that number. It's just a larger version of the Hedwig we already got plus some random bits and bobs that don't evoke much emotion in me.
b) why this is 250 Euro. Again, a larger version of a 30 Euro Hedwig, let's be generous and say 100 Euro as a standalone piece, plus those various bits and pieces that don't look too substantial - for another 150 Euro!
Incredible.
Incidentally, that scarf looks like a totally lazy design. Plus the red and yellow version has a distinct McDonalds fries vibe imho.
Not a HP fan but that snowy owl is fantastic. As someone with an interest in birds (and owls specifically) I’d consider buying this if it were $100 less and without all the other…things. But I can’t justify the $250 price. Maybe I’ll BrickLink the pieces to build the bird and a generic perch.
This isn’t a set that interests me at all, but some of the techniques used in this are incredible. The use of overlapping wall elements to form the pages of the open book is particularly staggering.
Looks like a high quality set for sure, but as a Star Wars fan I cannot fathom why TLG cannot dot the i-s in the same way with their D2C sets for that theme as well as they apparently have done for this set (and many other premium sets lately).
Even as a not particularly big Harry Potter fan this set is immediately recognizable as a desirable premium product. For instance, the golden anniversary figures in this set really laughs in the face of the TLG designer's statement that the minifigures do not matter in a UCS set. Really? Seeing this I cannot for the life of me understand why - for instance - 75309 did not come with a least a couple of really desirable exclusive minifigures...
That looks stunning, even as a non Harry Potter collector. Very, very tempted! (To add to my non Harry Potter collection of Hogwarts Express and Hogsmeade!)
Amazing build, but not a fan of "build and put it on the shelf builds"
The fact hey but THREE unique figures here is a not very cool move :<
Available from 2nd September on Lego.com
Shipping from at least 5 or 6 days later if the UCS Republic Gunship is the new benchmark.
Seeing sets like this for Harry Potter you have to question why the same care, attention to detail, and extravagance even, are not applied to sets in other licensed themes (naming no names)
Wow. Fantastic looking set. I won't buy it, but it looks amazing. The HP Fandom is strong in this company! I'm hoping for a similarly stunning AT-AT - and then there will be balance in the Force.

The Republic Gunship does literally come with a couple of exclusive minifigures
This looks gorgeous! I wouldn't be so much interested, had it not been executed so exceptionally well. Something else must go off the wish list now.

There are no mistakes on the Hogwarts acceptance letter, for a start.
Still, naming no names!
I collect harry potter for scenes and minifigs, so this set frustrates me. The set looks good, but has no appeal to me other than I wish I could complete my 20th anniversary figs collection. I'm NOT spending $250 on this set just to get the 3 golden minifigures, this was a devious move by lego to stuff 3 anniversary figs behind a paywall that high. My guess is I'm not the only one in the same boat so those 3 golden figs will probably be worth $50-100 for the set on Ebay.

Thank you for pointing out my error. However, in my opinion it borders on nitpicking to point that out as the two minifigures included with 75309 are more or less only technically exclusive (much in the same way as the two in 75252). What I meant to point out were - of course - that Star Wars UCS sets have a lot of room for improvement when it comes to including desirable or interesting or innovative or [pick your favourite] minifigures.
Sadly, the minifigures included in 75192 have not become the floor which all subsequent UCS sets have risen above, but rather the far-away glass ceiling that they never seem to have any interest in breaking...
What a lovely set. Harry Potter doesn’t interest me, but I love the owl.
Even for someone like me who is only a very casual admirer of the movies, this looks absolutely gorgeous. The artistry involved is so intricate.
Is Lego even a toy anymore?
Now if I order this at midnight. Will it take Lego 2 to 3 weeks to deliver this set? I am still awaiting my UCS Gunship I ordered on Sunday morning at 12:30am.
Looks decent, but should've been broken up into several sets.
I only want the Lego brick built Owl...the rest of the set I can do without.
This set makes me want to become a Harry Potter fan!
Amazing, day one for me!
The wand is a "NO" for me.
Way better than I anticipated. I just moved from I will pas to I need it!

Probably a couple of hundred just as loose studs in the potion bottles!
Remember when the LEGO designers said they didn’t want to put exclusive desirable figures in expensive sets? Yep? Well here’s three!

Agreed. I would have much rather seen the exclusive figs packaged just with the stunning Hedwig build.

My thoughts exactly. Love Lego birds, and Hedwig is top notch, definitely worth parting out.
Just not a big enough HP fan to spend the money or take up the space for the entire set.

Is it just me or does it look like they've mis-spelt 'TITILLANDUS' on the crest? It's more noticeable on the Lego.com photos, but looks like they've spelt it 'TITILLANDOS' instead.
There seems to be some kind of Easter Eggs on the potion bottles. Those numbers are definitely some people's date of birth but none that I recognise which means it's probably the designers that worked on the set.
It's a beautiful display piece for anyone who has any space left and the money to justify it as well. Not for me though...
What an incredible set! The creativity on full display here is absolutely stunning, resulting in one of the sharpest-looking display sets in recent memory.
I would love to see the same level of creativity brought to the Star Wars theme in future sets. Don’t get me wrong, there’s a LOT to love there, but it would be nice to see something other than ships, ships, ships as the cornerstone releases.

This. This! So much, THIS!...
Why isn't this level of attention to detail the norm? I might have to buy this set and I am not a Harvey Plopper collector... if only to have proof of the level of detail they can accomplish.

Yeah - for City they could do a life-size walkie-talkie and coffee mug, resting on a brick-built pizza.

You laugh but a large scale classic space helmet, walkie and tools would be neat/an instant buy for me.
It's better than the absolute nothing we get.
Besides we all know the life sized pizza build would be exclusively licensed to Spider Man or TMNT.
What a lovely surprise! I had no idea such a set was on the horizon. Will be getting it for sure.
Don't get me wrong it looks great... but like why?

"Honestly one of the cleanest looking sets I've ever seen. I would love to know who designed this."
Well, you could read the article...
Man, a lot of love (and frustration!) for this set. I was JUST about to purchase Hedwig before he went off the shelf...but man, this set is $300 more in Canada! I'd love to see them side by side though.
And for all of you bird lovers who don't like HP, may I recommend buying this anyway and bricklinking all of the HP stuff to bring the cost down? That will also benefit any HP lovers who can't justify the cost of this set but want the minifigs and other HP kit in this set!
As for me, I dunno...it's been an expensive year, I haven't bought any of the rest of this year's HP line yet, and I still "need" to get the Daily Bugle in my collection! But man, is this a stunning set. Bravo Lego!
This set is gorgeous. $250 gorgeous? I don't know. But they knocked it out of the park either way.
The number of pieces at that cost, yes, seems worthwhile.
As a display piece it looks stunning. Hedwig takes the show of course. But even the books look quality, the potion bottles are clever. The scarf is a bit lazy, but it is supposed to just be the end under the pile, so it works. Harry's spectacles seem odd if you use any of the other house's scarves. Otherwise this could be Harry's nightstand.
Years ago, there was a Target exclusive prize of Hedwig on top of books. I was blown away and I had planned on recreating it. Then they released Hedwig in the not so distant past and was even more blown away. The movement, the details. All very clever. Now they release this version and I am dead (not literally). This version is incredible. They would have had no problem selling this as a stand alone. But to incorporate the other goodies, it adds a whole scene.
I will want to get it since HP is my favorite theme, but I just don't know yet. Budget is always a concern and I still need to pick up the summer wave of HP..

But Ninjago Gardens are a must-have for all Ninjago and modular buildings fans, and It also came with a lot of other figures.
Can't say I am really a HP fan, but I absolutely love that owl!
I have bought several HP sets, because they appealed to me as a castle and minifig scale play/display-set fan. This is probably a very expensive set, so I am not sure, nonetheless I love how well-thought-out and beautiful it looks.
I like it, but it just seems a bit cluttered with everything thats in it
The glasses! They're out of LEGO!
Great looking set but not something I'd ever consider buying. At no point have I ever thought to myself that I wanted an assortment of life-size Lego-built Harry Potter items, no matter how well done.
Theoretically, as someone who is well over the age of 18, a big fan of Lego, and a fan of Harry Potter I'm the target of this item but I'm just not interested. Especially for $250.
I am a moderate HP fan as I got most of the 'modular' new series. I am more into the location building aspect of the theme so I don't know what to do with this one - most likely a pass despite a fantastic rendition. That said, maybe this will open a door for Lego to start producing life-like animals in the future (many moccers have done really nice things in the past - some specialising specifically on that) - still not sure if this would be a good thing or not - at least good to see what can be done...
Finally, this set must be put under a glass cover. Can you imagine dusting this.
Amazing display piece.
I'd never seen Lego do this buildable sculpture style before.
Hope they do it for more themes.
It's wonderful!
Not a big Harry Potter fan but I might just get this. Very impressive.

This was first used on Trafalgar Square (Architecture set) for the stairs.
I saw a few pics of this on leak sites and thought it was an MOC and not a Lego original!!!
Not really a HP fan, but this is amazing!!
So I assume this is the start of UCS ( by any other name) for the HP line?
This is definitely an "at some point" purchase for our house. It looks amazing. I think it's awesome that we can get something like this along with the (checks Brickset database) nearly 800 other LEGO sets on offer in 2021.
Although it is a completely different type of set, I'd like to believe that the recent 75290 Mos Eisley was a similar love letter to fans of that franchise. I know that I feel loved!
I also choose to believe that sets like these are harbingers of even better things to come for all of the themes. Kudos to the LEGO designers for continuing to up their games. Having just built the very fun and attractive, but super "fiddly" and hard for my kids to play with despite being minifigure scale 40487 Sailboat Adventure, I appreciate the designers even more for working within the company's stringent quality guidelines.

Imagining tends to be as far as I get with any dusting!
That owl is beautiful
The owl, the books and the rack with potions look fantastic! The extra objects look a bit ramdom and do not complement the set at all. And drive up the price. The scarf (is it a scarf?) and wand look bad. If I buy this I will only display it with the glasses, chocolate frog and a nice candle MOC.

Why did you buy a set you didnt want! That makes no sense at all
It's a really lovely and detailed set.....with exception of the scarfs, which look like a 5yr old has been asked if they'd like to help finish it off.
Think they could have been done better, or left out, as it lacks consistency with the quality that's gone into the rest of the set.
Yawn

Yes, but it's so expensive.
It’s a cool set, but like the Super Heroes busts/masks and multiple super-sized Batman vehicles, it’s purely a display piece that holds no interest for me.
Personally, I much prefer sets like the Daily Bugle or Mos Eisley Cantina with a ton of minifigs and plenty of action over which to marvel and with which I’ll be able to do a little playing.
I was hoping this year’s DC D2C would be the Hall of Justice or Watchtower or Daily Planet packed with minifigs, but if it’s true that it’s going to be yet another super-sized Batman vehicle then that’s another $300 I won’t be spending on LEGO.
This is a beautiful set. One that, after seeing the price, I will be enjoying pictures of. Too many higher priority sets over this.
Does that bottle say “Wormwood Infusrion”? Did they really misspell Infusion?

well played!
I see a lack of cohesion to the builds of this set. Fans will probably like all the objects present, but beside the giant hedwig and stack of books the rest feel like they could have been distributed in smaller supplementary sets. Lego knows AFOLs and HP fans easily spend 250 on a single set and it shows.
Out of the myriad of D2C sets released this year this one is easily the least memorable to me. I mean... we had a brick-built hedwig one or two years ago already (felt like half a year, but y'know... corona)

The exposed studs on the scarf are intended to evoke fabric, I believe. Not entirely successful but it looks okay I think. The books probably take up a lot of the set's parts count and contribute to its size. And just because people disagree with you does not mean that they are wrong, and there is no reason to derisively comment on their perceived lack of judgement.
Day one buy for Hedwig. The previous Hedwig is one of my favorite sets! This version looks majestic, absolutely love it.
I Personally collect the golden minifigs, so happy with those too. For non collectors they offer an easy way to make some quick money back, thereby making the set more affordable.

It says "infusion".
Everyone comparing this Hedwig to the $40 model is like comparing the Speed Champions Porsche 911 to the Creator model. There are more than several SW examples as well. The subject matter is the only comparable aspect and they can coexist within a product line.

Agree wholeheartedly.
Star Wars is my main focus, so I’m imagining the idea of Lego releasing a series of display pieces like this, each representing a film in the Original Trilogy. It could be absolutely amazing.
I wish I was into Harry Potter, this set looks amazing. I wish other lines such as Star Wars and Ninjago released similar sets like this. So much potential for this sort of thing across the LEGO themes.
This is a new form of Art made with Lego bricks. AMAZING work! Lego is getting better all the time.
I'm not a Harry Potter fan but I need that owl. The books and potion bottles are also a delight.
This set must have some new parts in there. The rims on the glasses and the transparent potion bottle sides don't look familiar.

Three large printed tiles for the letter and still zero printed UCS plaques ...
You're killing me here, LEGO. We're doing a house remodel so not only have I had to store all of my builds, but I'm already sitting on unopened boxes of ECTO-1, NASA Space Shuttle Discovery, Winnie the Pooh, New Asgard with Bro (Fat) Thor, and all the new Star Wars helmets. Now this?!?!? I've got a problem, and you.... you, LEGO, are my dealer...
I really like the Hedwig as the amazing owl build that it is and as a stand alone piece I would have picked it up for sure. As someone who doesn't care much for Harry Potter I also don't care for the side builds and the stack of books. So € 249,- for the owl and a bunch of pieces I don't want... Mmm...

Same, I really don’t see what’s so great about this set. Very expensive and hodge-podgey to me. Reminds me of the JURASSIC PARK T-Rex breakout set with the gate and oversized dinosaur. Maybe it’s just because I only merely *like* HP and I hate Rowling, but Hard Pass.
I have been trying to scale back on the money I spend on LEGO. Thought if I started a Minifigure Scale Only rule it might help me a lot in trimming some sets off my Wanted Lists.
That puts sets like the Republic Gunship out…and it would put this out too. I can’t do it!!!
I’m weak. I think I have an addiction. :D
Also…if those large pieces of letter are stickers I’m going to shoot myself in the hand.

"Seeing sets like this for Harry Potter you have to question why the same care, attention to detail, and extravagance even, are not applied to sets in other licensed themes (naming no names)"
From my observations I think that whenever a theme is meant to attract women or girls lego usually puts a lot more details and eye catching bits in the sets- elves was such an example, friends compared to city etc. If the theme is considered more "men oriented" we get less details for the same price.
This is beautiful. I love it. But I have nowhere to put it.
The fact that an owl was my school crest many years ago is a bit of a clincher for me.
I really like it, but I don’t usually buy life-size products and Hedwig was released last year too.
So Lego really looked at the stationary and notepad collectibles Barnes and Noble has been selling for Harry Potter over the last twenty years and said "yep, we need a slice of that!"?
I personally much prefer the castles and other location sets from this theme, so while this set has some cool build techniques it looks like a big price tag for a lot of things I don't really care for.

I didn't say anyone was wrong. I said I am amazed at all the positive comments. To me that's something quite different.
Nor did I derisively comment, at least that wasn't the intention.
It was rather tongue in cheek, after all I said they must have been under some kind of magic spell. Isn't that fitting for Harry Potter?
Some people read way too much into a harmless comment.
Great build don’t really get the point of it though
This is extraordinary . I have no interest in HP, but I think I will have to get this.
Harry Potter and the Kitchen Sink.
This is lovely, and I'll surely purchase, but I was hoping for another large location, like Gringotts (with underground roller coaster, dragon, Lestrange Vault, etc.).
Hedwig, atop the stack of books and holding the letter, along with the wand looks great. The minifigs should've been a GWP or something. The glasses, chocolate frog, and bottles feel like filler to jump the price up. It took me a while to realize those random stacks of 1x4 plates were supposed to represent scarves, not extra parts for optional add-ons.

"Three large printed tiles for the letter and still zero printed UCS plaques ..."
True but I would say: we all know how white looks like when printed on black. There are many examples of very bad minifigure heads who suffered from that. A printed plaques might generate a whole slew of different complaints. Lesser of two evils maybe...

I wouldn’t consider one of the most (if not the most) expensive sets of all time as the gauge for UCS minifigs. The Falcon is central to Star Wars, and that set is sort of in a league of it’s own.
Glad I didn't listen to the "trusted leakers" on another website who all basically inferred this set was just a pile of junk with all their cryptic comments. It is actually a very nice looking set in my opinion. Not the Gringotts many of us were hoping for but way more interesting to me than some of the other stuff they've put out this year like Seinfeld, Typewriter, etc.

Part 71752 already exists
I just looked at all 195 D2C sets here on Brickset, and I have decided that this set is my least favorite. It is really stupid to me but everyone else seems to like it.

Cause it's his chocolate frog card, (like the one harry got on the train in the first book), the other two figures are just on display
Late chiming in here, but as I haven't bought the Hedwig set from last year yet, if I get this set then I won't have to.
So the way I see it I'm saving $40 by getting this set.

I've got a problem, and you.... you, LEGO, are my dealer..."
Me too!
What does it do?
So, hedwig is beautiful. I have taken a liking to the birds. And for that, I must have this set. I have bought many sets with more parts than I wanted just to have the feature piece.... the dragons of ninjago. So I can definitely see myself buying this set just to have hedwig. Not into the hp sets, except the ones with the birds. I'll have to decide if this is in the budget for September. Depends on what else is released at that time.
I only have a few Harry Potter sets, but this is almost the perfect set - stunning.
How much for just Hedwig?
Didn't they already make something like this? I thought that they made the owl like a couple of waves ago.
Display pieces aren't really my thing but I gotta say these are super impressive, I'll go through my thoughts on them one-by-one. We got a big Hedwig two years ago so that one doesn't impress me as much as it would otherwise even though it's probably the better one. I don't really have any thoughts on the Hogwarts letter, each section is one piece so it looks more convincing than it would if each part was made of more than one piece. Harry’s wand reminds me of the one included with the giant fig, just larger, but it's a great build regardless and has a bit more detail, particularly on the bottom of the wand. The glasses are probably the weakest build since they don't look as much like one uniform shape but they're still a solid build, I wonder if they'd fit on someone. The Chocolate Frog is almost exclusively made of reddish-brown pieces so I'm satisfied with that, the joints are also a neat addition. It's hard to get a great look at the potions tray without the potions inside it or Hedwig on top of it but it looks great. The five potion and ingredient bottles look great and are exactly my kind of thing, I forgot that the Felix Felicis one was white honestly. Tom Riddle’s diary isn't one I can get a perfect look at either but it seems like you can't close it, it looks great opened, though, and I'd love to see someone MOC the Basilisk's fang into it. The Golden Snitch is extremely effective for how few pieces it seems to use and I think it's the first time we're getting the wings in gold. Lastly, there's the Hogwarts scarf, I couldn't tell what it was at first aside from the house colors but I see it now and I love the customizability. It's a great set overall but not one I'm getting, most of the sets I buy are inexpensive Minifigure-scale ones.
GOLD GANDALF AT LAST
It looks nice (build-wise), but can't see how a HP set is relevant anymore...

"
GOLD GANDALF AT LAST"
Been playing Lego LotR with my sister’s kids, and they keep saying Gandalf is Dumbledore’s brother.
Just one more thing - this designer designed almost all AMAZING sets.
As a proud Ravenclaw, I’m bothered that they didn’t give pieces to do blue and bronze instead of the incorrect/movie colours. Other than that, this set looks amazing! I am still holding out for Lego making a similar theme for Middle-Earth (The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, etc.). I know it doesn’t have the same wide fanbase as the Wizarding World, but I’m sure it would be amazing for Lego collectors. Plus, it would appeal to the Castle/Medieval fans, too.
I'm not an HP fan but on first inspection this looks really good so I might have been tempted. But I have a few issues with it.
A closer look it seems the books aren't loosely stacked but brick built that way, so there is limited scope to create your own arrangement.
While Hedwig looks good (and might have been nice as a stand alone owl model) it looked a little off. After a quick search, I realised the problem: the wingspan is much too small for an owl, making it look cartoonish. In reality should be at least 50% wider. Would have looked better with folded wings, especially being perched.
So, no purchase for me.

Sorry if my comment came across as derisive. That definitely wasn't the intention. Remember, I am no native speaker of English, so I have to make do with what I perceive to be the intention/gist of what I write. I'll try my best in future to rethink how my comments might come across, especially if they are meant to be ironic, tongue in cheek or humorous.
But you have to admit that few commenters here seem to get as triggered by my comments as yourself. There are three or four I can remember who mainly focus on my negative comments (of which there are perhaps more than positive ones lately I admit), but what would a comments section be if it only contained non-critical messages.
Plus, I often post positive comments too, you may simply not notice them as much, either because they are on articles you don't focus on, or because you don't get triggered by them so you might not even notice that they are by me. Just a thought.
In any case, I didn't even critizise this set per se, just the pricing seemed way off to me, and I was amazed hardly anyone else appeared to think so - hence my original comment. The individual builds look nice enough (HP currently is my favorite theme in the LEGO lineup anyway), that Hedwig in particular is awesome, I just don't see 250 Euro worth of "stuff" (as Jang likes to phrase it) in the overall set.
Looks absolutely gorgeous. Now imagine Fawkes in this style and weep at what he actually received.

I already pointed out the typo on the Hogwarts crest. D'oh!

There are no mistakes on the Hogwarts acceptance letter, for a start.
Still, naming no names!"
Is it just me or does it look like they've mis-spelt 'TITILLANDUS' on the crest? It's more noticeable on the Lego.com photos, but looks like they've spelt it 'TITILLANDOS' instead."
Yes! They have! They have misspelled 'titillandus'!
I can't imagine this was corrected after the product photos were taken, so I guess this is what we're getting. I cannot believe nobody at LEGO noticed that.
At first I thought this may have been a film thing. Unfortunately, LEGO uses the films rather than the books for how things should look, so I thought maybe Warner Bros in their infinite wisdom had changed that in the films, but it seems there are no close-ups of the Hogwarts coat of arms in the films.
Then I thought - maybe this is one of those UK vs US differences. Which would be odd, given the fact the text is Latin (ish...), but still, quite a few differences between the UK and US books. But no, that doesn't seem to be it either.
So I have no idea how this could happen.

Junk? Junk is another way of saying rubbish, so I'm not sure if that's what you meant, given the fact you like it.
I get why this will piss off people who already bought the Hedwig set from last year, they should've reveal this earlier so people can make the choice.
Btw, the scarf is really unsuccessful and unnecessary.
This is a fine brick-built owl, but it could just have just been 76391 Snowy Owl without tarnishing the set with a license associated with bigotry and some atrociously bad brick-built scarves.
Kind of makes me wish I still bought Harry Potter merch. Oh well.

Junk bc w/o the owl it would have no appeal. I heard rumors that wit would be some objects and was very negative about that. And the we got the owl as the main part and the junk in just a background for the good boy.

Yes but not all Sets. Some are clearly meant to be display pieces.
If only the dragons could look this nice! Man I'd be poor.
Love the Hedwig. I'll be saving up for this one. Hopefully it reaches retail and we can see at least 20% discount.

Makes sense. I mean, Headmasters/mistresses need to delegate to their associates to accomplish everything, just like any good leadership team.

I love the potion bottle builds and Hedwig in particular though and the exclusive minifigures are incredible. The set is amazing for what it is, I just wouldn’t have ever asked for this. "
I feel exactly the same. There elements of this that I love. I’m not sure where I’d display it, but parts of it are phenomenal.
Now I am a Star Wars fan and the missus is the Harry Potter fan. I have already purchased most of the sets for her. I was impressed with Diagon Alley, but this...
Wow! That is a beautiful set.
Hedwig is beautiful, I love the bottles of potion ingredients and the flask of Felix Felicitis, and the rest of it is pretty clever too. (Including the ratty scarf ends...I didn't understand what they were for at first, but they do the job nicely IMO!) Not sure if I really want to buy it but it's certainly very tempting, even though normally life-size objects leave me cold.

It's because the position for Dumbledore is designed to look like a Chocolate Frog card (which look like this https://harrypotter.fandom.com/wiki/Chocolate_Frog_Card?file=Chocolate_Frog_Cards.jpg).
