Marvel Advent Calendar - Day 5

Posted by ,

Black Widow emerged yesterday, wielding her batons with a marshmallow ready for toasting. However, there is nothing suitable to toast the food, unless Tony's repulsors suffice.

Testing that could prove dangerous...

Fortunately, a traditional grille appears on day five. The model is basic, but includes the necessary trans-orange elements beneath pearl silver grille tiles. I like the 1x2 rounded plate that secures a chicken or turkey drumstick too. Accessories are clipped on each side, including tongs and a fire extinguisher which is fun because these are a notoriously frequent presence in Marvel sets!

Overall - 3.5 - I am pleased with this grille and like the accessories, but it lacks the futuristic aesthetic which characterises the Avengers' varied headquarters.

Good enough, I guess...

Might have been funny to include a flame piece coming out of the bbq, leave out the fire extinguisher and make tomorrows gift Dum-E holding the extinguisher to put it out.

Must be the most least festive build going

It has great potential for using in regular town builds, although I'm a little worried by the exposed flames!

By in Australia,

I really liked this one.

Maybe I'm being too up-beat, but anything that isn't more power blasts is an instant pass-mark, in my book.

I’d be more of the opinion this is a ketchup or a hot sauce bottle. With stark around who needs an extinguisher ;)

It seems the Avengers are celebrating Christmas in Australia

My wife thought the white piece that came with Black Widow yesterday was toilet roll, so this makes it clear it wasn’t.

Yep, called it yesterday. I like that it includes the drumstick, because one marshmallow wouldn't be very filling.

A nice little build, there seemed to be plenty of pieces for the whole thing. A fun addition.

What?! You don't warm up your toilet rolls?
Should try it, feels nice to the touch...

Think of it from an Australian perspective. Christmas there is you have Christmas morning and then you go to the beach and have a barbeque.

Is this a flying grill, or is it just mounted like that for the photography session?

@Your_Future_President:
Sokovia. Sokovia needs _all_of the fire extinguishers.

@Cinnamonbricks:
They’re all angled, but there are two drumstick pieces. One was made for the turkey, and the other was made for the S1 Zombie. The only difference is the length of the bone.

@TheOtherMike:
That marshmallow is about half the size of a minifig head. I’m sure it would be very filling, though some minifigs might have trouble keeping that much down.

Looks advanced or ultra-modern, at the very least. That’s not your everyday grill.

@MutoidMan:
It actually reminds me of the hibachi my dad used to grill on when I was a kid. Nothing modern about a tabletop charcoal grill...unless it really is hovering in the air, that is.

Not a bad build. I do like that we have gotten builds that work with the minifigures so far.

A whole, 3-part Turkey would have been a nice upgrade, but might have been asking too much.

The 8 year old really liked that it was a companion piece to Black Widow's marshmallow from the day before.

We have a small Dum-E from another set which he immediately had on fire extinguisher duty :)
