Marvel Advent Calendar - Day 8

Posted by ,

Some disappointing accessories succeeded our first exclusive minifigure and I hope the second new minifigure, which arrived yesterday, avoids that situation.

Let's find out today...

Fortunately, we have avoided the dreaded accessory pack and instead received this delightful wrapping station! The two clips match the armour display from day three and I like the colourful wrapping paper placed on top, including squares of green and pearl gold paper alongside a roll of red paper. Scissors for cutting the wrapping to size are also provided, completing a lovely model.

Overall - 4.5 - The wrapping station looks great, striking a perfect balance between Marvel and seasonal theming!

This was very cute, and that car door has sure served many functions....wrapping paper, toilet paper...

Definitely more Christmassy with this one, I really like that it is modelled on the Hall of Armour base build like the wreath one on Day 3. A fun addition.

I was so excited to see this as day 8's present, when I woke up this morning. I suspected that day 3's wouldn't have used clips unless it could connect to something else in this calendar, not just two sets that came out a couple of years ago. Yay! Heck, maybe there's another one, I don't know, an eggnog station or something.

Anyway, I like it how the two gifts connect, it makes them a bit more substantial.

This is great! Correct me if I am wrong, but it's this the first time we have had a present wrapping build in a calendar? And on top of that, it's Hall of Armour compatible, and easily adjusted into a regular work bench come January.

Those two sets are still available today.

I recall a wrapping station in an AC last year; think it was the Friends one.

@Wavelength: Last year's Friends calendar had a gift-wrapping station.

Last year, after the second weekend in March, we had one show that didn’t cancel. One of the things I slipped in there was a man with a wheelbarrow, and a woman with a shopping cart. Both were overloaded with packages of toilet paper, and behind them were a trail of white 1x1 tiles, white 1x1 round bricks, and these doors in white. After the toilet paper hoarding that went on earlier in the year, it got a lot of chuckles.

They did this in HP calendar last year if I remember correctly.

What an ingenious use of the door--except now there is going to be a supply shortage of red left doors...

Not anywhere around here, they're not.

There were two half-tables that connected via Technic pins. The weird part is they were each based on different tables seen in the Yule Ball scene, and the contents didn’t really blend together very well as a result.

Looking back through both previous HPACs, there are a few builds that get combined. 2019 has a pedestal that joins a gold minifig representing the Hogwarts Architect. It also has two tables from the Great Hall, and two days of dishes and food to place on those tables. 2020 had the two half-tables I already mentioned, plus a gramophone that paired with a table, and a fireplace that was flanked by two windows.

Fun build to represent a wrapping station and I love being able to connect it to the armor station from Day 3.
