Marvel Advent Calendar - Day 14

Posted by ,

LEGO Advent Calendars are sometimes criticised for lacking festive theming, which could certainly have affected this Marvel calendar. The presence of gifts for certain characters is therefore clever.

Perhaps another such item will emerge today...

While this is not a wrapped present, the trend of adapting Marvel subjects with seasonal details continues! Dum-E has appeared in three previous sets and the robot's design remains quite consistent, featuring Technic beams forming the treads. However, the body on this rendition appears unusual as the designer has made good use of an angled arm element developed for Monkie Kid, which is new in pearl silver.

The yellow and trans-light blue accents look good and I like the simple stocking that Dum-E is carrying, which undoubtedly belongs to Iron Man given its distinguishing colour scheme of red, pearl gold and trans-light blue.

Overall - 5.0 - This is my favourite rendition of Dum-E released to date, closely resembling the source material and appearing fittingly festive!

I am surprised to get more Iron Man themed stuff but this is really nice. DUM-E is well done and the repulsor stocking is appropriate and very festive.

Somebody's going to have to do a DUM-E comparison one of these days, as we've had four versions and they're all slightly different. I'm curious which is the most screen-accurate.

A lovely little build. And eventually I'll be incorporating that new monkie kid arm into my regular Dummy, it's a good iteration on the basic design for these things.

Edit: though the last one could accommodate the robot's dunce hat

Yeah, I thought this was a great addition to the calendar as well.

To be fair, I've thoroughly enjoyed the whole calendar (apart from day 2, obviously), but still.

I’m pretty sure that’s a boot, not a stocking. And that he’s about to kick Tony with it.

It's even cuter in person then it was in the preview images!

We need a U robot to complete the pair.

Oh Dum-E will for sure find a way into my permanent display... Just have to decide if I put him on Diagon Alley, pirate ship or lunar lander XD

Diagon Alley with a little wizard hat.

Although the Star Wars droids made up of various Lego parts are listed on the this site as minifigs, Dum-E isn't which is a shame. I have two iterations of of him (?) so would like to get this third one.
