Marvel Advent Calendar - Day 17

Posted by ,

Despite appearances from additional characters, Iron Man has dominated the Advent Calendar as different themed accessories have succeeded his exclusive minifigure from day one.

I hope for something completely unique next...

This delightful Quinjet satisfies that requirement, taking inspiration from 76126 Avengers Ultimate Quinjet and therefore featuring unusual dark blue and trans-orange colours. The shaping looks splendid when compared with the original vehicle, as the cockpit and wings are both suitably angled and the proportions throughout the model are perfect.

There are some gaps in the fuselage which appear slightly awkward, although I am not sure how they could have been avoided at this scale. Otherwise, I am very impressed with this tiny Quinjet, which is our second mini vehicle following the brilliant Helicarrier from day twelve.

Overall - 4.5 - While there are noticeable gaps in the fuselage, this rendition of the Quinjet looks excellent.

A great microscale build, seemed to have a fair few pieces to build it. Very recognisable.

My son had me building this in the dark, three seconds after I woke up, with no instructions at 6am... What I made looked nothing like this, but still pretty cool. This is a very versatile bunch of bricks :)

Oh, and I think this Quinjet can perch on the deck of the Helicarrier.

Initially thought this would sit on the helicarrier but it’s far too large sadly

Pretty appropriate to have an airplane on the anniversary of the Wright Brothers' first flight. And I love how Lego's designers keep finding ways to use the Friends handlebars.

My 4yo son was waiting for the quinjet, because it was on the box and he loves all vehicles. Most of all, he wanted to put it on the deck of the helicarrier, I mean, there is a jumper there, no?
The scale differences made us giggle :)

@ComfySofa:
That would be a bit like having the giant minifig sculpture from a few decades back sit astride one of the minifig horses.

This should fit right in parked on 76042 along with 30162, 30304, and CAPTAINMARVEL.

@Huw
Prefixing CAPTAINMARVEL with a hashtag will not create a link to the set. Is there a way to get this to work?

You mean awesome? Yes!

(I just did an image search and, I'll concede, the scale is a leeettle bit off...)

I think you just gave a minifig horse a hernia and a heart attack at the same time.

Love this build. Well done at this small scale. Not too many vehicle micro builds in this calendar, but the Quinjet and Helicarrier look great.

For anyone who wants to fill the gap, and thinks it's impossible at this scale, you can just put a 1x2 jumper attached to the 1x2 curved slope's lower antistud. It fits in, fills the gap entirely when the cockpit is at the resting angle, and doesn't interfere with the hinge operation.

Don't know why the designers didn't put one in there.
