Marvel Advent Calendar - Day 19
Posted by CapnRex101,
Another appealing minifigure appeared on day eighteen, meaning another model will certainly appear next. However, predicting the upcoming items has proven difficult for this calendar.
I therefore hope to be surprised today...
Avengers Tower is an iconic feature of Marvel and this tiny rendition looks absolutely brilliant. The distinctive shape appears perfect and I love this colour scheme of greys with dark blue and trans-light blue accents. Moreover, the printed Avengers symbol is beautifully integrated, making good use of the existing 2x2 tile introduced during 2019.
Unfortunately, that emblem only appears on one side of the building which seems somewhat awkward to me. However, the designer has cleverly used a pearl silver frying pan to represent a circular landing pad, accurately projecting from the tower.
Overall - 4.5 - This model offers some interesting building techniques and looks fantastic, but I would rather the Avengers symbol appeared on both sides.

Nice little microbuild! Very well done.
It never occurred to me that the logo was present on both sides of the tower;
the movies show one side more prominently than the other, I think.
Anyway, if this is a representation of the 2020 set (76166) then it is accurate
as that one also has only one side with the A on it.
Even more micro than 40334-1 yet still fantastic looking. We now have three separate descending sizes for the iconic Avengers skyscraper. It wouldn't hurt my feelings at all if TLG decides to make another at a more accurate scale, perhaps even surpassing The Daily Bugle.

True; I suppose I would just prefer the balance of the symbol appearing on both sides.
I wonder who bought Avengers tower. *cough* Spoiler for Hawkeye *cough*
Wait, there is a new 1x2x1 2/3 brick with studs on four sides coming up? Where?

Valid point to bring up, of course; I just hadn't given it much thought before.

I believe there are some in the new Monkey Kid sets.
I believe it's what keeps the roller coaster track together in 80034 .
edit: I just noticed the part list is added and it's a different part than described above,
but seems a useful one nonetheless; it has studs on both large sides and the top,
but not on the small ones.
That’s gonna be one heck of an omelet.
Love this microbuild, a fantastic rendition of the tower at this scale.
This has an antenna, maybe this is what Nick Fury is controlling!
@TheOtherMike:
A remote control stationary building? Sounds about as fun as the “Watch Paint Dry” kit.
Wow, I was pleasantly surprised by today’s build. It looks so good and I love that Avengers printed tile. I know the Friends calendar is receiving lots of love this year (the best one yet for them I think) but this first outing for Marvel has been just as good with great minifigures and well done microbuilds of the ships and the tower. City microbuilds need to take some pointers to get back to a higher quality ;)
@PurpleDave: Maybe you can play Tetris with the building lights?
