Marvel Advent Calendar - Day 20

Posted by ,

Three small-scale models have now appeared in this Advent Calendar, each proving tremendous. Another such model would therefore be superb today.

Let's open the door and see what arrives...

Today's model is a delightful clockwork Hulkbuster! The broad shoulders and stocky proportions are definitely identifiable, while the colour combination of dark red and pearl gold also matches the source material. Furthermore, the armour includes a trans-light blue 1x1 round tile on the chest, effectively representing the Arc Reactor.

However, my favourite detail is the domed head, which is formed using a dark red knitted cap. This element captures a suitable shape and slots neatly above the shoulders, that incorporate golden roller skates beside the clockwork key. Both the arms and legs are articulated, although the legs seem rather fragile, unfortunately.

Overall - 4.0 - This model is certainly charming and looks excellent, but the limbs are relatively fragile.

They shouldn't have copied this leg design for the new Marvel mechs!

Not a huge fan of this one, it's serviceable but very fragile. Absolutely loads of spare pieces today though.

I definitely feel LEGO put some more attention into this calendar than some of th other ones this year. The Friends advent calendar is still the best (so far), but I'd say Marvel is a close second.

Bonus points for having a turn-key
C’mon; it’s Christmas ;)

Even the minifig Hulks aren’t likely to notice this attacking them.

This is really, really cute. I’m a fan of these “toy-ified” microbuilds of familiar Marvel objects.

Shouldn't this count as a minifigure, like the snowman?

The roller skates for the shoulders are a great idea!

It took a me a few minutes to realise it want just a robot with a hat

Print on the "the hat" would have perfected it.

As a fan of other toy robots I absolutely adore this toy toy-robot. Very unexpected and welcome.

I think it looks cool. Sometime for the Minifigures to play with. Not sure how to approve the legs and keep it simple. Would have loved a printed Hulkbuster helmet print on the hat. I didn't get the Advent Calendars but looks good

@icey:
Print on the hat would have required designing a sorting system that would not only flip these hats right-side-up, but also rotate them so the correct side gets print. The hat is canted, so randomly applying the print would result in most copies having a tilted head.

I like this mini model of the Hulkbuster armor. Perfect for an Advent Calendar model.
