Star Wars Advent Calendar - Day 2

Posted by ,

An excellent rendition of the Razor Crest arrived on day one and I anticipate similar quality today. Perhaps the famous pilot for yesterday's vehicle will emerge next.

Let's open the door and find out...

LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendars occasionally include subjects which are considered too obscure or impractical for larger sets. Riot Mar's starfighter continues that tradition, originating from season one of The Mandalorian. This aerodynamic vessel captures the essential shape of its onscreen counterpart nicely and I like the yellow fuselage.

However, the model feels relatively fragile, the engine stanchions should be narrower and the laser cannons are missing. The engine nacelles are impressive though, making perfect use of binoculars. I love the trans-red cockpit too, which corresponds with the source material.

Overall - 3.5 - I always appreciate LEGO exploring more obscure subjects and this starfighter looks good, but there is definite room for improvement.

By in Norway,

Thanks for clearing up which ship this was – I couldn't figure it out... Not a spectacular model, but I guess it looks ok.

There were indeed better ways of recreating this vessel, however I’m still digging what is here. A great source of inspiration for sure, even though I’m not into microscale unless it’s part of something big!

this makes more sense...I thought it was the fireball from Resistance. Which would then make me want a microscale version of Vonreg's tie fighter.

Wow, definitely a deeper dive ship! It gives hope that other lesser-known models / sets / characters will eventually show up.

Yep, this is a goodun. Even if you don't recognise it, it's a swwoshable little ship that just looks cool, the splash of colour really helps without overwhelming it.

Riot Mar's Starfighter would actually be a good subject for a beautiful minifig-scaled set, but due to its obscure nature and limited appearance that would never happen unfortunately.

We need a fireball model so bad

This was not behind my door no. 2 today. I got the Tusken Raider weapons rack instead. I hope I don't have to wait until Dec. 24 to find out whether I got a duplicate/am missing a gift.

Get a friend to open the box up and check if there are 24 different packets :)

Get the friend to take out the tray, rotate it 180 degrees and then put it back in. Problem will be solved

Except my door no. 1 was correct, so if this is a serious suggestion, that should have been reversed with no. 23.

Could people please not post the contents of days that haven't been opened yet? I know the weapons rack is on the box in this case but I'd still rather not have it spoiled for me.

I appreciate the inclusion of an official image of the ship; I have little interest in The Mandalorian, so I had no idea what I was supposed to be looking at here otherwise!

Today, Marvel really plummeted after the nice Tony Stark figure. However, day 1's high seems to balance out today's low. Star Wars has another microscale ship, but not as good, recognizable, or accurate as day 1's Razor Crest. Harry Potter himself arrived in his own calendar, sporting a rare torso which only otherwise appeared in the super-secret box of Diagon Alley. The Harry Potter calendar has been the only calendar to improve, offering a minifigure following its day 1 Privet Drive sign. The point today without a doubt goes to Harry. It seems likely Star Wars will get a figure tomorrow, and the score will even out then. It has been easy to pick a winner so far, given a sole minifigure has gone up against two builds. But soon builds will be pitted against each other, and thus will need to be evaluated carefully.

This doesn't bode well, after getting the scout trooper yesterday instead of the razor crest I got a stormtrooper today. If the trays are in 180 degrees out I would expect to get the same as others that are wrong. If you got a weapons rack and I got s stormtrooper something went really wrong with the pick and place process at the factory!

A little disappointed that we haven't hit a minifigure yet, but I must say that the builds so far are substantial for an Advent calendar - very weighty and dense. It's taking me longer to build them than I expect and I don't mind!

For those getting different items behind these doors, do the instructions on the door go with what you got or what should have been there?

Instructions are for what we should have got, so boxes look like they are all correct, something wrong with the packing.

If I get another one wrong, then I'll contact Lego Customer Service, though they might suggest I just open all the doors to see if I get any duplicates.

Not gonna lie - I'm glad CapnRex101 clarified what this was and thankfully included a picture of the actual craft, I then had to go look up who Riot Mar was. Even being a huge fan of the Mandalorian, I still have no recollection of the character!

By in United States,

@Dare_Wreck: I'm pretty much in the same boat. I didn't even remember there being a new starfighter in the show.

Gravatar

I don’t think so would have guessed that this was from Disney Wars if I’d been asked ahead of time.

@CapnRex101

THANK YOU very much for including a photo of the actual ship, and not just another lego version of it ect. I loved looking at the 2 side by side and comparing / contrasting the two. I hope you will continue doing this with the other Star Wars models & minifigures, as a picture is worth 1000+ words. Again, thanks for the pic :)

Ahhhh so THIS is what that is supposed to be.
Yeah, I wouldn't have guessed it in a million years. I might be a Star Wars fan but this one was obscure AF.
