Star Wars Advent Calendar - Day 15

Posted by ,

Our second weapons rack appeared yesterday, equipping both Imperial minifigures. I am thus hoping for consistently impressive items across the remaining ten days.

Let's open the door and see...

Imperial Scout Troopers are generally associated with speeder bikes, which are valued for their speed and agility. This example takes inspiration from the white 74-Z speeder bikes that appear during The Mandalorian and includes the requisite outriggers with steering vanes, with adequate space for a minifigure.

The hand grips are awkwardly positioned though and the model is severely truncated to fit inside an Advent Calendar. Such compromises were necessary, although I think considerable potential for enhancement remains because the proportions of this vehicle appear strange. Enlarging the structure behind the pilot would benefit the design.

Overall - 3.5 - This speeder bike appears slightly odd, but captures reasonable detail and provides excellent play value, considering its modest size.

I challenge @MisterBrickster to come up with another Shakespearian quote for this bike--it made my day yesterday : )

It looks to me like the kiddie ride version of a speeder bike.

So funny! "Hm, wall with hole... like Pyramus and Thisbe..."

By in Sweden,

Quite nice for an Advent calendar, just wish the driver could hold on to the hand grips.

Actually not bad for a vehicle that has to fit into an AC and holde a minifig! Let's see how it looks tuned up with some stuff from the spare parts box..

I would recommend getting a brown one for that

By in Netherlands,

What does it look like with the Scout Trooper on it?
I wonder if that will make it look better or worse...

If it only had a clip to grip the Scout Trooper's blaster, should said wall with hole relinquish it's treasure, then I'd be tempted to offer "My noble steed, known to the camp, I give him, with all his trim belonging:" (from Coriolanus - come on, I live in England now, they have Shakespeare, and VAT on BrickLink orders).

@Binnekamp:
I’m pretty sure that would exceed the weight capacity.

Meh (again). I suppose this year's calendar would qualify as a regression to the mean compared to last year's. At least so far.

Swooshable factor? Probably right at 3.5.

more like a speeder scooter

The mini speeder bike from a few years ago (2015?) was much better. It lacked handlebars, but I modified mine by adding a 2x2 plate with axels and clipping on droid arms and pistols for the handlebars.

Not much of a Shakespeare quote but I believe that Pyramus and Thisbe inspired Will to write Romeo and Juliet. I don't have any solid proof but there is a high possibility.

(I see your point, though.)

By in Ireland,

I like this notwithstanding it's a bit off the mark-much like the scout troopers in the Mandalorian!!

Why, man, he doth bestride the narrow speeder bike like a Colossus, and we petty men walk

A play of Pyramus and Thisbe is performed by the characters in A Midsummer Night's Dream, and I think that is where the quote is from.

Ok, I added some kibble to my bike: improved handlebars, cones on the sides for width, and made the front prongs longer with some black lightsaber blades. Not perfect, but an improvement.

The bard has surprisingly little to say on the subject of bikes :p
