T-Rex Breakout it basically the set I’ve wanted from this theme this entire time. Lovely stuff!

By in Australia,

That's a big vignette!

By in United Kingdom,

76950 & 76951 are both £40 (£39.99) on UK site. No sign of the more interesting 76956.

I most like 76950: Triceratops was always my favourite dinosaur, and I like the look of that small pick up. But T-rex looks great in 76956.

76956:

Jurassic Park is frightening in the dark,
All the dinosaurs are running wild...
Someone let T-rex out of his pen
I'm afraid these things will harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh noooooooooo

I never knew Weird Al did that cover of McArthur Park until I recognized the structure of those parody lyrics. Thanks! XD

That T-Rex Breakout set looks nice, but it'll probably be unaffordable, unfortunately. For a vignette that's very super sized, and thus super expensive

Gravatar
By in Norway,

I like that they used darker colours on the minifigures in 76956 to make them look wet

Gravatar
By in United States,

We finally see another Jurassic Park set. I still don't understand why we haven't gotten that many sets based on the original movies.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

These are awesome. There will be a happy boy in my house when they drop :-)

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Vintage palm fronds for the win

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Sorry but that Pyroraptor is so bad. Wrong colors, no stud on top (WTF?) and once again not posable/modable. Thanks lego for another failure of new mold.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I didnt exactly have high hopes for the brick-built T. rex but... wow that really sucks. Its a shame, but better techniques for building brick-built creatures would never pass Lego's stability requirements. At least the rest of the set looks fantastic though, and I mean I can (and probably will) just build a better T. rex

This sums it up perfectly!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The T-Rex in 76956 looks great - except for the rather orthopedic-looking feet.
If any set ever needed to have a goat it is 76956!

Odd that the Pyroraptor doesn't have a stud on its back. Seems to be a play feature lost.
Otherwise some good looking sets.

The picture on the Lego website with the kids playing with the set show that it actually does have a stud.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Where's the goat ?

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

No detachable limbs on the molded dinosaurs?! I don't like where TLG is going with this. It's expensive as it is. Detachable parts allow us to create other thngs, which Lego playing is supposed to be for. They're going cheap and going Jurassic. They just lost sales from me.

By in Australia,

I was surprised at how much I liked my brick built Rex in 75936 (cars are not something I care about) so aspects of this set appeal and aspects don't (the cars) - given that, I will wait for the review on this set. It does look good though and I particularly like the display stand.

Orthopedix Rex! A new dinosaur is discovered!
Nice set - I like this approach to dinosaurs and hope it continues- great for adults with limited space and more advanced younger builders. 10 out of 10 Goldblums!

The T-Rex Breakout looks like a very good balance between play and display.

Imagine Lego making a whole series of Weird Al sets.....I'd buy those! :-)

But honestly, 76956 looks pretty much perfect! The other two seem pretty okay, but not particularly interesting.

By in Belgium,

It's happening! It's really happening! A true Jurassic Park set, including a Ford Explorer, Ian Malcolm, Lex & Tim, ... Just not such a great fan of the brickbuilt T-rex, we got molded dinosaurs for that, but ok, that's one my kids kan build, it won't keep me from buying this set!!! At last! Next: the visitor center, including good old Hammond?

Gravatar
By in Canada,

The T-Rex scene and Ian Malcolm minifigures we have wanted ( in affordable, and / or non-regional exclusive TRU sets) since the theme first started!

And 76951 comes with geriatric Malcolm. So much Goldblum in this range.

Agree about missing goat though. This would have been a perfect opportunity to bring back the goat with optional scene builds here.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

All this set needs is for the to be an actual Lego goat concealed within the T-Rex. Make. It. Happen.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think an addition of the toilet block is a must!

Gravatar
By in Hungary,

This is the key moment of the film. Amazing set, must-have for a Collector

Gravatar
By in United States,

That T-Tex breakout looks great! That’s one of the most iconic scenes, when Dr. Grant heroically goes to rescue the children that, up to that point, he’d actively tried to avoid.

Excellent work, LEGO!

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Wonderful sets. Been a long time, but this is multiple day 1 puchase for me. I'll provide the toilet add on covered with the lawyer and the palm tree leaves!

I love the quote on the shield. Also, are there any water cups included?

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I’m not very up-to-date on movie rumors/news so perhaps this is already commonly known, but it seems that Ian Malcolm as well as Ellie Sattler will be returning in the upcoming JW Dominion movie! That’s pretty exciting to me. Also, finally an affordable set to get the Triceratops! Sucks that it’s one of the least appealing designs they’ve done for the big mold dinosaurs, but I’ll likely get it.

Unfortunately still no love for the stegosaurus.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm excited to finally see a feathered lego dinosaur, though I wish the arms were better; from what we see in the trailer, the Pyroraptor has something approaching full winged hands, which is astonishingly close to accurate for a Jurassic Park movie.

In a big pile of…

Gravatar
By in United States,

Re: 76956 I can't tell if it's just a model, and everything is mostly fixed in place, or if it's an actual playset. I can't tell if the TRex is built onto/into the base, like the Dinosaur Skeleton set, or he's freestanding. The flipped Jeep looks built onto the base. The website listing describes it as a "display model", rather than something like a playset.

All of that makes me think everything on this build is fairly locked into place, which I'm not a huge fan of. I really hope the TRex is at least mobile.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

$200 Dollars AUD for 76956, a set that doesn't even have a molded dinosaur? Alright...
The other 2 look good though, although I personally will be waiting to see the full selection before I make any choices.

The T-Rex is put on a few studs and should be able to move around freely, the second jeep seems to be completely loose and is hold in place by a few slopes.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Why didn't they go with the molded T-Rex figure instead of a brick-built one? I know some people are fans of BB animals, but I always tend to think they look awful once a molded edition exists. I'll never go back to BB chickens.

Re: the provided image for 76951-1, clearly we are witnessing a scene in which the Dilophosaurus has just been shot directly in the bum by the dino wrangler. After having pulled the trigger our wrangler clearly has a disgusted look on her face, and the the Dilo has a look of shock/horror. The Pyroraptor has the best dino expression of laughter and amusement I've ever seen. Ian is rolling in laughter, and the civilian who should be running in terror is getting tripped up on her way to the vehicle because she's cracking up as well. If anyone else has another interpretation of this scene that's fine, it's wrong, but it's fine.

Re: these sets as a whole, excellent vehicles (finally!), hoping those are bad renders and not non-posable dino's, and once again terrible pricing. In summary: awesome! Uh-oh. Crap.

Gravatar
By in Turkey,

That 76956 is an absolute treasure and long overdue. I really appreciate brick-built larger animals (and this T-Rex looks really good according to me). I find it rather strange that they didn't attempt a minifig size one before (if I'm not mistaken). And the first non-moc Jurassic Ford Explorer? Yes please!

Gravatar

Yes, yes, YES!!!!

The Breakout set is everything I’ve been hoping for from Day 1 with this theme. It looks absolutely fantastic!

Bring on more sets from the original 3 films, please :-)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Successfully preordered 76956. But I was so preoccupied with whether I could, I didn't stop to think if I should.

Gravatar
By in United States,

See, the timing on this sucks. There have been 2-3 previous JP1 sets that I would have purchased, but I didn’t really want to collect a half-baked theme. If they had started with this set, on the other hand...

@jkb:
Same place as the goat.

Gravatar
By in United States,

FORD EXPLORERS LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ALSO NO MORE OVERSIZED TRUCKS????

I need them ALL

Gravatar
By in United States,

Not sure why it took them so long to make the trex breakout set. That should have been one of the first JP sets they should have made. Interesting that they use a brick build rex instead of a molded one for a playset style set (maybe adding piece count to justify the price?). But I think the best part of the set is the JP Explorer. I think the girl is a teenager so would be better to have the normal legs. Also would be way better if they include the goat, attorney, and the toilet. And would be nice if they provide enough pieces to build the second explorer (looks like only part of it is included).

Gravatar
By in United States,

These are really cool. My son and I enjoy the LEGO animated series and one-shots on Netflix (except for The Indominus Escape which appears to have been produced by a different company not up to the standard of the other episodes) and we also like Camp Cretaceous, so I appreciate these sets.

Gravatar
By in United States,

What is this nonsense?! We all wanted more dinosaur mechs and helicopters, not iconic scenes and characters.

Gravatar
By in Italy,

76956 has been in my wanted list since 1993.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I would love them to come out with some new stegosaurus, spinosaurus, parasaurolophus, and a large brontosaurus. Hopefully they will continue to come out with new sets even after the movies end.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm assuming a brick built Rex allows the scale to be much larger than the pre-fab version. I like this overall. I agree the foot looks a bit off, but the rest looks pretty solid for a brick built creature.

Obviously the jeeps were wanted by pretty much everyone, so that's a win. The price is decent enough for the pieces. I'll actually buy a JP set for once!

Alan Grant is in it, too. A new trailer hit Youtube in the last couple of days.

I think all three of these are in my future. My two kids have been playing the Lego JP/JW video game on Switch lately, so even though they haven't seen any of the movies, they'll recognize the T-Rex Escape scene immediately.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@vader11:
One theory that’s been floated is the combination of licenses required. This scene not only requires the basic JP license, but also the Ford Motor Company license for use of the Exploder. They’d also need the Mopar license to release models based on the Jeeps used by park staff. The thing is, they have both of this now through the Speed Champions theme, and maybe it was just a matter of someone realizing all the ducks were finally in a row, or there might have still been some additional hoops that needed to be jumped through to clear this for production.

Gravatar

This sarcastic piece of elevated wisdom should be forwarded ASAP to Lego headquarters with the added notice that this apply to the entirety of their themes.

p.s.: Another missed opportunity for a goat. Are goat moulds more expensive than any other moulds - I mean like 15-20 more expensive???? Just commission a freaking goat mould and this whole situation will be dealt with already.

Gravatar
By in United States,

re: brick-built T. rex vs molded, the most obvious reason i can think of going by the images is the pre-molded T. rex wouldn't be able to rest one foot on the car like that, which seems pretty important in replicating the scene they want to.

I wish the feet were something else, but if they wanted it to be something you can pull off and pose independently, I guess it would need the feet to support it.

That's a really good point actually. Kinda changed my view on it, though I still just don't like brick-built animals.

As for the other sets, the lack of detachable limbs on the dinosaur figures doesn't really bother me. Just as it didn't bother me in the old style Lego horses. No studs on the back does seem like a strange omission however. Even the tiny little dude in 30320 had one....

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I like the T-Rex Breakout, but I'm really not loving it. I would love a Ford Explorer in those colours in a Creator Expert set similar in size to the other +£100 Lego cars. Might need a minute to think before purchasing this.

Gravatar
By in United States,

76956 looks great, but all I can think of is that these ziplines on the right are going to stay that way in the actual non-rendered model ;-)

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Very cool vignette with an acceptable price even. Pure nostalgia. Sadly the same thing cannot be said for the 45€ sets. As usual with JW half the price consists of the dinosaurs. Still waiting for LEGO to finally make a large Sauropod or a Stegosaurus?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Agree with some people that the JP Explorer and the Jeep should have their own stand alone sets either as a Creator Expert style or technic style, maybe in the $100-$200 range. Just like the various boatmobiles. They are some of the more iconic movie vehicles.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I admire the attempt at a brick built dinosaur but my word are those feet atrocious looking. The other sets look nice though.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

The T-Rex looks like a kid built it. The torso is a literal block. The legs utlize the most amateurish SNOT work and the feet are unrecognizeable as such, I can only the see individual pieces but not how these are Dinosaur feet.

The brand PANLOS has mad a much better model at the same scale, 621002 Tyrannosaurus Rex. That model looks like a miniaturized version of the huge Lego 250$ Jurassic Park Gate T-Rex. That PANLOS model is what Lego should have designed for this set. I am content with the Jeep and rest of the scenery but to think I have to buy a 100$ Lego set just to switch out the focal point for a different brands version...

Panlos and Forange have some of the most organic looking builds in their line-up. Their sets look exactly like what I expected Lego to produce when it became apparent that brickbuilt dinosaurs would only happen in special once in a blood moon sets like this. The actual result feels like an insult. There is no question that the design could have been better, the excuses of "parts library" and "stability" don't cut it when the chinese firms have no stability issues and manage to put in more detail with a 96% identical parts library as used by Lego.

Gravatar
By in Brazil,

The set based on the original movie looks amazing. If I had more space, would get it.

The other two feels like stuff I've seen in all previous set waves. Amazing how Jurassic World remains the most repetitive theme by far.

I googled "Forange T-rex" and saw a model that was a recolored clone of the Lego model from the 2019 D2C. No dice - that's not a legitimate competitor, it's a shameless clone.

I googled "Panlos 621002 T-rex" and saw a model that isn't a clone, but to my eyes it doesn't look one iota better than the Lego model in this set. Imma stick with Lego on this one.

"Look in the T. Rex."
- "What do you mean, 'look in the T. Rex'?"
"I mean open him up."

"You know what I mean."

Not a fan of the brick built dinosaurs and this hasn’t changed my mind. But the rest of T Rex Breakout set is great. They should have just made a new ‘bended leg’ piece for the proper T Rex model.

I don’t like the static dinosaur models either. The old style Dilophosaurus was much better, even if the scale was slightly too large.

Also, the colour variations of the Dinosaurs seem to get more wacky with each wave. I much prefer the more realistic colour schemes.

And finally, the eye printing on the Dinosaurs was also much better on the older models. They look too cartoony now.

I don't know why they retired the T-rex rampage set last year, I would totally buy that now since they finally have the ford!

Gravatar
By in Malaysia,

Ugh..why would they put stickers for the T-rex eyes.. it could have been designed better.

“Biosyn” is such a funny name for the evil corporation in Jurassic stuff.

Just call it Bad Guys, Inc…

It's actually from the books the films were based on... It was supposed to be the one Dennis Nedry is hired by, but the name is never stated on screen.

I cannot approve of this attraction
'Cause getting disemboweled always makes me kinda mad"

A huge Tyrannosaurus ate our lawyer
Well, I guess that proves they're really not all bad...

Well, it's nice to know that despite the clash in personality over certain LEGO topics that I was talking about the other day, we can bond over Weird Al :)

By in United States,

The vignette is great! Finally the JP Explorers!

Gonna swap that Trex out for the BIG one from the set with the gate, and itll be perfect!

By in United Kingdom,

This as a Jurrasic Park set may be the goat, but appears to be missing a goat

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Alright, I have to make an announcement. This was said by a Lego designer on Reddit.

"When we decided to check on the goat mold out of storage, we found it had degraded to the point of being unusable."

So I reiterate, the goat in its current iteration will not be returning. (As it's probably been buried in the concrete foundations under the Lego House.) A entirely new goat mold is required.

tl:dr; STOP ASKING FOR THE GOAT!

By in United States,

Those t rex feet are absolutely horrific. I can’t believe lego was ok in letting that pass. Also am I the only one that feels like they still can’t quite get alan’s likeness in a lego face?

By in United States,

@NatureBricks:
I see no useful doors in any of these sets. 6-wide vehicles need appropriately adult-sized doors. I stick to 1x3x2 doors, which unfortunately come in a limited range of colors.

@legOtaku_official:
People know the goat mold was damaged. People also know this does not rule out the possibility of them making a new mold for the same goat design. Do you know how many 2x4 brick molds they’ve gone through since the first LEGO set was released? Just based on the variations that have been identified, it’s in the dozens. The original mold for the old Space arm lasted until the Exo-Suit came out, and while people thought that was a cool connection all the way back to Classic Space, a lot of us were also thinking they should have replaced it years earlier once we actually got to build the set. The only thing holding them back from making a new goat mold is needing it badly enough to get approval.

[I never knew Weird Al did that cover of McArthur Park until I recognized the structure of those parody lyrics. Thanks! XD

That T-Rex Breakout set looks nice, but it'll probably be unaffordable, unfortunately. For a vignette that's very super sized, and thus super expensive"

For a moment I was about to say OMG he’s not just an AFOL but singer/lyricist?!?! ??????

My favorite part of 76956 is also the simplest: the broken fence. Ingenious rendering of the wires. It’s about time we got this scene!

I just watched that movie two days ago! Haha

By in Brazil,

I know that the goat was gone when the T-Rex attacks the Ford Explorer, so not including it in the set makes 76956 accurate to the film, but it would be cool to see the goat in the review!

So... did you watch Snatch or Jurassic Park? Doesn't matter, both are absolutely brilliant!

By in United States,

Iconic scene posing aside, I might have preferred a molded T-Rex (I've been wanting one for a while). The brick-built Rex could be better, but no way I'm skipping out on an official JP Explorer.

Indeed. Doesn’t make it any less funny to me though. It’s very…lowest common denominator. Then again we aren’t talking about Charles Dickens…

By in Germany,

Big plus for those play sets: no Owen in sight!
What I don't like is the price.
And is it me or is there a huge difference in the design quality between the two cars?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

76956 looks like a great set. My only wish is that Lego includes a Muldoon minifig in a future set!

Gravatar
By in United States,

@wasn:
Owen was a decent character. It was the two new additions from the next movie who I kept hoping would get “lawyered”.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm really tempted to get the T-Rex Breakout, but I'm not a fan of the brick built T-Rex, mostly, if not not only, because of the ball joints being light grey/dark grey. If they were colours that matched the rest of the build, it would look so much better, alas they stick out like a sore thumb sadly.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The lack of love for brick-built dinosaurs baffles me.
I wound much prefer a T-Rex that looks like Lego over a plastic mould which could, like the Dilophosaurus, be any brand.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

T-rex Breakout is a great looking set!!! Would have prefer a moulded T-Rex since this brick built one is not executed that well. But $200 really in Australia!?! Lego sure loves price gouging Aussies!? Will definitely not buy this until a steep discount is available.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

For everyone asking where the goat is.. by the point that ol' Rexie escaped she had already consumed mr goat. maybe there will be goat bits inside the build like Sam L's arm in the gate... :-P
