Innovation continues within the DOTS theme with the introduction of adhesive and stitch-on patches next month.

41954 Adhesive Patch contains what looks to be a thinner than normal 8x8 plate with 3M double-sided tape on the back to facilitate it being adhered to a range of surfaces, while the larger 41957 Adhesive Patches Mega Pack contains five of them.

41955 Stitch-on Patch comes with what is presumably a flexible thinner than normal 8x8 plate with small holes around the edge to enable it to be sewn to clothes.

Also included within the new selection of sets is another extra dots bag, 41958 Extra Dots - Series 7, and 41960 Big Box which is the first to include light nougat tiles, a colour which has become more prevalent this year.

Are these the same bits that were on the Levi's items with LEGO patches?

I used my slot car track to put some of my off-brand parts to good use, by making track supports for overpasses with them (which was free, vs. paying out the rear for vintage Tyco). They tend to slide around a bit, and I'm thinking about sticking some of these "patches" to them as grippers to attach to the slick former air hockey table (fried due to basement moisture). I don't want to have to use the adhesive ones, but I'm sure those bits won't be moving. I found the 2x4 eraser works great, but LEGO doesn't make them that often, and I only have two. The rubber doesn't age well either.

They've definitely produced some great parts in the past, most notably a long-overdue new set of letter tiles. But Im really not seeing anything noteworthy in this wave

It'll be interesting to see the exact dimensions of that adhesive plate. Will two of them stuck back to back be the thickness of a regular plate, i.e. useful for SNOT building, or some other measurement?

I love the stitch on patches! I’m totally going to try to get a couple.

Why does the adhesive patch packaging have one of the dinosaurs from Bubble Bobble on it?

Yeah, right. Does it work with baseplates? As in to display a LEGO Art set?

Didn't see that one coming! Need studs on the outside (or inside) of a curved element? Sticky plate! Forgot to put SNOT bricks in the wall you built? Sticky plate!! :D

Not sure how the purist in me really feels about this, but what's most important that these sets are fun to experiment with. I hope these new technologies don't come too expensive!

Thanks for the advise.

How thick are those thinner plates? Can we finally make small builds level with baseplates?

I wonder how flexible the adhesive plates are - whether they can bend around a curved build and stick without popping off? Could be useful for easily making angled builds...!

The Levi’s patches have hard square corners and an inset channel with holes for a finer thread.

The Extra Dots bags are fantastic. So glad they continue using a window on the bag to see which printed tiles are inside.

I hope they release a similar patch with a magnetic back. Although I'm sure I've got a fridge magnet that I can stick one of the adhesive ones over.
