By in United States,

I get that modern LEGO builds are denser and packed full of detail, but where on earth did those 600+ pieces go in the Andor set?? It doesn't look like a good value for $70 at all. After the well-priced Obi-Wan sets that's a major letdown.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Knew these would show up officially with the amount of leaks over the last few days.

Sad to see the Disney tax is in full effect again though, both sets feel about £10 - 20 over priced.

That said however. I do really love they've done a DB droid set, he's quickly become my favorite SW droid type. Given its a Fallen Order set, this mean we're getting a hint that FO2 is on its way soon enough?

The Andor set looks interesting with alot of playability.

75338

That's 679 pieces? Sure doesn't look like it.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The angles of the panels on the front of the ship are impressively done!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Amazing. More speeder bike bloat in a set.

Makes me wonder if we could get a Republic Gunship for a bit larger than this for about $90. Would make sense given their push for some smaller renditions of models.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Andor set must have a lot of tiny pieces. Hard to believe it's 679.
BD looks great and a good price!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Cute droid. Nice speeder bike. The spaceship looks like a brick but it does seat five people, which is pretty cool. The speeder bike seats two, which is one more than the vast majority of speeder bikes do.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

70 quid
Seven ty quid
It's nice set but seriously £70?!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Zero interest in Disney Star Wars sets but will admit that the gunship is a neat little thing.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

£70? Great! What a deal…wait, where’s the other half of my set?

Gravatar
By in United States,

As a fan of LEGO vehicles that seat lots of minifigures inside, I admire that mini gunship.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I’m seeing excellent parts packs all around!

Though that BD-1 would look nice next to R2 and BB-8.

Gravatar
By in Austria,

@brickset I hope you guys will be as harsh concerning the prices in your reviews as Lego deserves. At some point, there needs to be pushback from influential voices in the community. That Andor flyer is a €50 set at most and even that is pushing it.

inb4 "dOnT bUy iT" - I won't, and I never buy Lego Star Wars at full price.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The speeder bike is a unique design and I like it, but honestly I’m speeder-biked out. Especially after the Bad Batch shuttle set. I’d prefer another minifigure or even better a lower price!

Gravatar
By in United States,

These sets look pretty good if not a little overpriced! I have no interest in buying either, but I really like BD1 and the gunship. I especially love that it can sit 5 minifigs in such a small ship. Is the gunship empire related? If so, I wonder if we will get a Stormtrooper battle pack to fill it out. It would fit with Kenobi and Andor, and we haven't had regs since 2015. Although since it would have the new stormtrooper mold, it would be a battle pack I would skip.

Gravatar
By in Serbia,

Nice to see the chunky blaster piece back!

Gravatar
By in Portugal,

80€?!? That ship is tiny! Euro zone gets the L once again ;_;
The interior and figures look good though, and I hope we see more fallen order sets Ahem* Purge troopers pls Ahem*
I sure hope Lego has a good reason for these price hikes, because my wallet can't take any more critical hits like these

Oh yeah for sure. I was just looking at one of my old sets (6206: TIE Interceptor) and noticing how big it is for the price. It was originally $20 retail and I bet it is at least twice as big as that small shuttle.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Never seen or heard of that BD-1 before, but it looks cool! And will probably display pretty well with my BB-8 and D-O, two other droids from movies I still haven't seen....

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Honestly that gunship-knockoff looking ship is kinda cute and the interior opening up and having that much detail like that is great. But not for £70. £50 would be slightly expensive but decent.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Both of these are good! I think the Andor ship is really good for what it is, and the speeder looks great. Still, feels a little high, and a sale would make it feel a lot nicer. It is funny, though, that the ramp on the back opens to absolutely nothing at all.

BD-1 looks excellent! Gonna wait for a sale too, but this will be the first of these character builds I've gotten. Here's hoping we get some proper Fallen Order sets! Few characters on my want list more than Trilla Suduri.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I was hoping for a bigger reveal, but it was still cool to be there when they did at Star Wars Celebration. The Darth Vader minifig that will have flippers on in an advent calendar was probably my favorite.

Gravatar
By in Norway,

Both of these sets are absolutely perfect. (Especially the speeder-bike!)
I can definitely understand people’s frustrations about the prices though, especially in regards to the Andor set. But they both look amazing, I’m super excited.

PS: I am a little bit confused too, actually, about where most of those maybe 450-550 pieces or something (assuming that the speeder-bike is about 100-150-ish pieces) in the shuttle went lol, considering how (relatively) “hollow” it looked on the inside, once opened up.
But I don’t know, maybe it’s just one of those sets that look way bigger (and bulkier/“beefier”) in hand, once it’s built – compared to just looking at it in pictures. We’ll see!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I dig the lil ship, very nice design. I would rather they ditched the speeder for less cost. I'll put it on my "buy at a discount" list

And typically the trailer crops up less then an hour after my post. lol.

Gravatar
By in Slovenia,

Are you joking? 70 $ is 65,21€, so why the price in € is 80???

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I'm not a SW fan at all, but the turret machine gun on that spaceship would make an excellent Great War machine gun like a Vickers or MG08.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

That droid reminds me of the old Mindstorms set. Looks good but won’t be getting due to space. The other I want for the minifigs mainly (at a discount)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Is that a new 1x3 rounded plate in the BD-1 set?

Edit: could just be a thin Technic beam.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

BD-1 is an easy purchase for me, but although I’m excited for Andor, I just can’t see the value in the builds.

Gravatar
By in United States,

For $70 that set had better cure both monkeypox and coronavirus.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Okay, the Andor set is just cute. I love the design and shaping of it. And the speeder isn't bad either for something that just takes up space. Could those pieces have gone to the ships or another figure or two, or both? Sure, but at least it's a new design, and it can sit two figures on it, which admittedly, not many speeders I know of can do that. I suppose it could also probably be maybe $5-10 cheaper, but it'll probably go on sale at some point. Of course, there is a question of whether I end up getting that set since I am running low on space to display my sets. Will have to see what the interior of the set looks like during reviews, but my first impression is pretty good, even though the price probably isn't the greatest. Don't personally care much for the figure models but I'm happy it exists for the people who like it and I'm certain Fallen Order fans are hyped since it's the first set from the game (I think). Hopefully it will sell well and maybe they'll make some ships or locations from the game in the future

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Andor set looks like the Razor Crest and the Republic Clone Gunship had a baby Yoda of their own.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The gunship is impressively spacious and detailed given the size and shape! I'd like more color variety, but that's more on the traditional Star Wars aesthetic.

Agreed completely. Somebody needs to start calling Disney and Lego out on the price gouging.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Those prices are RIDICULOUS. 75338 will be like $100 here in Canada.

That is the one I am concerned about and hopefully we get a LEGO The Mantis set soon.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I saw someone say BD better have alt parts for all the skins…. Bruh.

But I love the set and will certainly get it.

For the off-brand razor crest, it’s a pass. Although all I’ve seen is people complain about the price. There are some good aspects, like a giant interior

Gravatar
By in United States,

Rael looks a whole lot like Beckett.

Gravatar
By in United States,

That speeder gives me Shadows of the Empire vibes. Specifically from the N64 game.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Definitely feels like a $30, maybe $35 set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I guess I now have to buy an Andor set, will this never end? I’m starting to think that perhaps it is Lego who is producing all the new shows on Disney+.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

The droid looks amazing and the vehicle doesn't look bad (something awfully cute about it), but the price is nuts.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

For some reason my first thought was a baby Razor Crest

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think the Andor set is great. Loving the speeder bike build and the craft. Certainly pricey, tho; disappointed about the price tag.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I have a feeling that Andor ship will be quite chunky considering the piece count, price and the fact it can hold 5 mini figs

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Oh good I’m not the only one who sees that! Not sure how similar they’ll look in person but their minifigs at least could pass for twins

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

seriously my favorite new droid design since the ot, its beautiful, will def get it (on sale) the Andor set, meh, way too expensive as well.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

BD is by far the best set in this UCS-ish character building line so far IMO

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Vindicare said:

That's who I thought it was when I seen the pictures!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Both sets look excellent.

The little robot even looks like he is a real one instead of one made of lego bricks.

The gunship and speeder bike look great too. I don’t know anything about the figs as of yet, however it feels like it needed an alien race minifig to make it even more star warsy

Have you seen the trailer at the end of the article?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

BD-1 is a day one purchase to give Wall-E some company on my shelf, the little cuties!!!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

YASSSS BD doesn’t have a black 18+ box!! Rejoice my box art fans!

Gravatar
By in Jordan,

Both sets look pretty good IMO, but they also seem a little small for their respective prices, especially the Andor set.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Wow, the price for that Andor set is just ridiculous. It looks really good though, a sale price might be OK. Reminds me of a Kenner Star Wars mini rig.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

You almost had me, LEGO. I'd rather pick the Inquisitors' ship over the Andor set. Looks loke a lot bettter value.

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

75335 This is the first time I've been so hyped for a Star Wars set as someone who generally never collects it and STILL hasn't gotten around to seeing any of the shows. Wish a working scomp link was included but the stim canister compartment is cool!

Trailer wasn't up when the article was originally posted. Guess you missed my second post mentioning it.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Both sets look really great but the pricing is sadly comical.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I thought it was a Chibi Razorcrest at first.

Gravatar
By in United States,

For $70 I would want at least another guard on the blue uniform and a pilot for the dropship...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Props for actually including a BD minifigure in that set. They didn't have to do that, but it's apricated!

And now I have a nitpick with the BD-1 set... all the healing stims are tied together by that one piece and it's not possible to dispense just one. That's a miss in my book.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Jedi: Fallen Order was a fantastic game. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
BD-1 was an interesting and loveable sidekick. Mine didn't look like this Lego rendition though, after applying a different skin to him.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I know nothing of either of these series or games or whatever they are, but these look really neat. I have the other droids, so will likely get this one (hopefully on a sale). The ship looks really nice, but definitely doesn't look like almost 700 pieces, but very clever shaping up front.

The figures do look like Beckett and Sirius Black, but hey whatever works.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

"they're proud of themselves. So fat and satisfied."
I can't help but think of the current British Government when I watch the Andor trailer. If only a reckoning was coming for them.

Gravatar

this is just obscene

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Videofronta:
That does seem weird. Inflation is hitting the US harder than Europe, so I wasn’t shocked to start seeing bigger numbers after the $ than the €, but by that logic this is 20 low for the US, or 30 high for Europe.

@MegaCoreMagnetizer:
Took me forever to find what you were referring to. It looks too thick to be a plate, plus the stims are built studs out in both directions. The rightmost parts clearly have hollow studs, as would the round bricks. It’s rare (but not unheard of) for them to use both hollow and solid stud versions of the same color of round plate, so if the gold ones are hollow as well, you have just enough room to feed 3L bars through the entire thing. There’s a hint of a light colored bar (light-bley or some shade of silver) that can be seen in the TNG bricks.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Yes the price is insane but the design and interior space in that Andor set is seriously impressive, one of the best I’ve seen in a while.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

That piece count has to be a mistake.
I took a really good look at the pictures and counted as realistically as I could.
From what I gathered the speeder was about 60 to 70 pieces and the main craft about 250, 300 if one is being generous. That still leaves about 250 pieces unaccounted for. Is that thing filled with several hundred 1x1 round plates as ammunition for those stud shooters?

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Hard to imagine the ship as a €80 set.

The detail is there for sure, even the interior, but to see like 600 pieces there ?

Value of 75336 just seems a lot better even while it's obviously €20 more.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@AustinPowers:
The ship has a large hold, and it probably uses a lot more pieces than you’d expect to keep it sturdy enough for kids to play with. The front has angled panels, and may have required a deceptively complex frame to get the exterior hull panels in just the right position. The last time I found myself seriously wondering where all the parts were hidden was 21326. I almost dropped it when I picked it up because the box was so much heavier than I expected. It felt like someone had slipped an actual brick in with all the LEGO parts. Since then, I’ve just taken the piece counts in stride, like with 21330. I couldn’t see where all the parts were, but accepted that they were there, and took seriously how much I had to focus on construction to get the whole thing built in one day.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

@PurpleDave : the two sets you mentioned immediately look like they contain loads of pieces. The roof of the Winnie Pooh shack alone must contain around 130 pieces just by counting what can be seen, and the tree also clearly is built with loads of small and tiny pieces. The Home Alone house is larger in volume than a Modular and also apparently highly detailed, so no question about the piece count there either.

With this spacecraft, whichever way I look at it, I really can't fathom where those pieces went. Once it's available at the inevitable deep discount I might get it, just out of curiosity to see where I might have miscalculated. Really, I have built over a thousand official LEGO sets by now, but with none the piece count looked as off as on this one.

Gravatar

@AustinPowers : I have no trouble believing the piece count for 75338. It's a lot of overlapping plates. Look at the seats in the cabin: 8 pieces each, that's 32 pieces.

You're right. Didn't think of that. D'oh.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@AustinPowers:
Home Alone isn’t as voluminous as it first appears. It’s barely three stories tall (the attic is pretty cramped, and only the kitchen extension in back has a basement level). It’s also a lot thinner than you’d expect. And this comparison is meaningless to anyone who doesn’t build Modulars.

Most importantly, these claims have yet to be proven, no matter how many times people complain that the piece count must be inaccurate. You’ve got the digital instructions, set inventories sourced directly from LEGO servers, and set inventories that you can go check at any time, if you seriously believe this will finally be the one instance where they assigned tallying the piece count to someone who can’t do math. And the reason I singled out Winnie the Pooh and Home Alone is because I remember both having complaints about piece counts:

https://brickset.com/article/58190/winnie-the-pooh-ideas-set-revealed!
^ Three people expressed disbelief at the piece count.

https://brickset.com/article/58093/review-21326-winnie-the-pooh
^ The original comment has been deleted, but is preserved in a reply, expressing disbelief at the piece count and saying it looks roughly the same size as 79003.

I can’t find any “where’s the pieces” comments for Home Alone, and may have just been misremembering the “too big/little” and “too much/little detail” arguments, combined with just general comments about the set being priced too high for many people to afford or justify buying. Some of these are just so commonly accompanied by “where’s the pieces” comments these days that I may have mentally tacked them on.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Both looks way smaller than their piece counts. And agree with most comments, overpriced.

Gravatar
By in United States,

What if a Republic Gunship and the Razor Crest had a baby?

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

Is that 600 pieces? Looks way too small for something that's supposed to be "big".
