Ninjago Rebooted 2014
Posted by Huw,
There was a lot of excitement yesterday when LEGO revealed a 'poster' for Ninjago 2014 on Facebook.
The binary code at the bottom represents ASCII characters which spell out Nindroid. I guess this implies some sort of robotic theme to the series.
It seems that minifigures have 'leaked out' from somewhere already because yesterday this one was sold on eBay for over US$50. It certainly bears a resemblance to the poster, doesn't it, so it looks as if it's the Ninjas who become 'robotic' rather than (or as well as) their adversaries.
Thanks everyone for the news.

This will explode in our FACE (:
Woah; that's a pretty radical ninja.
Borg Ninja, wouldn't like to face him
That ninja is so AWESOME!!!!!!!!
And I just noticed in discription of auction it says I the minifigure is called General Cryptor and it says 2 set numbers that this minifigure is to be in, 70721, 70724 just wanted to let you know!
Can't wait to see the set pics now, if they're as awesome as that minifig, Lego: take my money now! :-)
Also glad to see the 2014 Ninjago sets (along with a few others) added to the database too :-)
^ Thought I might as well given they are all over t'internet now.
Cool.
This will go great with Star Wars: Sith assassins, Imperial Spy, etc. Now to see the sets and prices.
i want to she his spinner, i think it will be awsome
^ if they even will make more spinners
As a computer engineer, gotta love the binary.
Whoa! That's some figure!
Some nice pieces for custom mini figures.
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Meiko/Ninjago/cryptor2.jpg the face of the minifigures doesn't look like any of the ninjas we know to me. Also the name Cryptor, if it will be the real name, looks like the perfect name for a bad guy, doesn't it?
of course i'll buy them anyway... :D
Three dots of predator laser.
Seeing as how Zane is a robot and Jay nicknamed him a "nindroid" I'd have to imagine these new nindroids are Zane's "extended family".
I'm so happy Lego was serious about their reboot of NinjaGo. I loved building the dragons and collecting the ninjas, which took me back to the days of building Harry Potter sets as a child. 2013's run of NinjaGo was pretty lame, and aside from their being a golden ninja (Oh snap!), there wasn't really any one set I truely desired. For me Chima took everything about NinjaGo I disliked (everything from the goofy cardgame to the oddly themed vehicles), so hopefully if Lego plans to run NinjaGo and Chima side by side than there'll me actual differences between the two. Honestly, I would like there to be a bigger difference between the two themes than "what character your vehicle is themed after". NinjaGo needs to bring more things like dragons (I know there's a mechdragon, Yahh!) and more interesting ideas for sets like they did when making the Winged Dragonship-thing, the Fire Temple, and... because I thought it was cool anyway, the Samurai mech. The NinjaGo sets which didn't appeal to me were all the ones with skeleton and snake faces on random vehicles (but I admit they were well made). Hopefully NinjaGo 2014 brings back the magic to a theme which saved my 2012 year of collecting.
Always loved the NinjaGo line. They seemed more like Moc's then Lego sets to me. Can't wait to see the vehicles!
I'm wondering if this isn't also a teaser for the Ninjago movie that's been announced...
One word: EPIC! :-D
the minifigure looks pretty cool,i wonder when we'll see pictures of the sets.
Also does anyone know if there will be any more spinners?
If Ninjago wasn't already s***ty enough, now they are droids. Hopefully we can see some unique pieces and parts in these sets.
^I don't think it's really that bad.
There are much worse themes then Ninjago.
^^^ there are pics of three sets on kmart's website - somebody posted it in the forum. Be quick though, I don't think they'll stay there long!
^ I saw the pictures on brickipedia.
One of the sets has a garbage can 0_0
I just saw the pics! My reaction: O_O I can't believe how there doing it! They put Lloyd in a set that looks around 29.99, and NINJA HAIRS!
where is zane in the sets?
^There are still four more sets that don't have images. I'm positive that he'll be released though. ;-)
I wonder if this is the last year for ninjago. its been this will be its 4th year!
@Patch22: Ninjago's had cities and telephone lines since its very first year. How is a garbage can so unusual?
@Bricklover2013: This is just three of the sets. Zane is probably in one or more of the other sets.
Anyway, I'm really excited by the new pictures! I've shared my thoughts in the forum.
The new ninjas and the robots look good love the hair! but the rest.... ehh the sets look like chima or something I don't like.... The new box desigh awesome!
At current, I'll pass on this theme for the upcoming year and all that means is I'll be able to better focus on those themes I do want and collect.
@coson: the set is $19.99 USD
Those "techno blades" are very interesting pieces... and it does seem like General Cryptor is the villain...
Oh, and hair for the ninjas!!
Does that mech have a double-ended ball joint piece in dark red? If so, yum!
And aren't those front clip-on wings on the jet a new piece?
Other than that, didn't spot much in the way of new pieces in the pix... maybe some recolors of that double-slope "telephone" piece.
But of course, massive new arsenal of cool minifig parts!
I dig that use of binocs as double-bladed lightsabers! Wish I'd thought of that! But it would have been even better with, say, a recolor of the part in pearl dark gray or pearl gold...
Awesome
Ninjagoyo i think that's dark brown, it was released for the Ent in the Orthanc set. It does however have the first sand green cheese slope i've seen outside of the sand green cheese slope battle pack (sometimes marked as "Brandenburg Gate" in the Architecture line =-) The front wheels in the treads on the Thunder Raider don't look familiar to me and apparently the black mech can be attached to it, which is cool.
The wings on the jet aren't new, been around a while, used on the later style jedi interceptors/star fighters, some coast guard sets as part of a life-raft etc. http://brickset.com/parts/?part=4653052 They are new in Red though.
Who is it by the computer here? Zane? also seems to be the top corner pic on the front of all the boxes is the same face http://c.shld.net/rpx/i/s/i/spin/image/spin_prod_890111012?hei=600&wid=600&op_sharpen=1&qlt=90,0&resMode=sharp&op_usm=0.9,0.5,0,0
I'd assume that is Zane by the computer on the box. Although, he does look interesting. I will have to wait and see the final products before I consider purchasing anything. I should try to complete my ninja collection I guess.
Reminds me of the mortal kombat ninjas. In the first MK games, the ninjas were human, and by MK3, the story goes that the ninjas' clan, Lin Kuei (spelling?) decided to go cyborg, but some of the ninjas objected and became rogues but were captured and converted by transformed ninjas... Perhaps the Lego storyline might be similar?
Am I the only who wants to know where this dude got this? I mean we haven't even seen all the sets yet this seems really odd.
This seller just listed the new Lloyd! And I just noticed the set images are no longer on kmart.com
I saw one of the new sets today in Holland at the Legoworld show in Utrecht. It was this huge mechanized dragon. Also some new figs. I couldn't take pictures though since the developers were standing next to it.
