Marvel Advent Calendar - Day 6

Posted by ,

Our second minifigure appeared yesterday and another model should arrive today, presumably relating to Rocket Raccoon. Given his interests, I expect something explosive!

Let's open the door and see...

While not explosive in themselves, I suspect Rocket could easily transform these various items into an explosive if needed. These are accessories the character has collected throughout the two Guardians of the Galaxy films, including an Anulax Battery stolen from the Sovereign and the pearl silver and trans-purple Quarnyx Battery acquired when escaping the Kyln.

The robotic leg also collected when escaping prison is provided too, alongside Yondu's golden arrow and a printed eye, given to Thor in Avengers: Infinity War. While obviously not the most visually distinctive model, I do enjoy these references to Rocket Raccoon's adventures in the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

Overall - This collection of Rocket's favourite acquisitions is fun, complementing the minifigure from yesterday.

Literally a pile of garbage :-)

Needs more arm. (Either you've seen a certain show and get this, or you don't. Literally, I am disappointed there's no arm despite Lego never selling an independent piece of a minifigure.)

/\ Maybe an Exo Force robot arm could serve as an analogue.

Agreed. When I opened the door today, I thought that might be what the pearl silver pieces represented, but then noticed the trans-purple 1x1 round plate and realised otherwise.

It has some interesting and useful parts, so I will rate it higher than the "weapons rack" from a couple of days ago. If there was a "battle of advent calendars", I know that Friends, Star Wars, and City has us beat for sure today. I do not know what is in Harry Potter Door 6, but it would not be hard for them to come up with something that leaves us in last place.

Honestly, I feel like I need to Bricklink a specific minifigure torso just to get a comedy arm in my set now.

This is a funny idea, with these references. :)

This is excactly the kind of thing I want from an Advent Calendar! Is the eye exclusive to this set?

It's a Minions eye from the Rise of Gru sets. (Which tecnically means there's some IP spill here, but nobody's going to notice.)

If these are all references to actual moments from the films, I guess that’s enough to dig it out of negative territory to earn a solid 0/5, but when the most involved part of the build is structurally compromised just to pad the piece count, that’s the best it can do (I’m also looking at you, Days 1 & 2 for the HPAC).

@Mister_Jonny:
11090/44873, Bar Holder w/ Clip. It’s even available in five sets in flat-silver.

@ResIpsaLoquitur:
It’s at least rare, as you only get two (one for Stuart, and one spare) in 75549.

There was a Minions polybag that was fairly well stocked when it was out on the shelf. (Betting you can easily find it on eBay if it's not still circulating in some Targets.) That's easy access to three eyes right there: two from the figure, plus the standard spare.

My calendar had a a duplicate bag from day 2 instead of this.... Cool that I got two tiles with the printed cassette I guess. This is like the third time I've gotten incorrect or missing parts this year.

Lego customer service has always sent on pieces that were missing if notified.

They've got the color of amber wrong! It's trans. orange, not trans. yellow.
And what are all these things? Is that an omelette with brown egg yolk?
Must be stuff to go with the unreleased Jurassic Park 4 raptor hybrid rabbit thing from yesterday. We wouldn't get the reference because that script has sunk.

Wow! I want the job designing sets for this AC. It's a bunch of crap!!

@ResIpsaLoquitur:
Bob always has one brown eye that looks right, and one green eye that looks left. The only variation he’s received is squinty eyes. Stuart is the only one who (one time) received a perfectly centered, non-lidded eye. The annoying thing is that there’s also only one instance of a Minion (Otto in 75546) who has brown eyes that look left, so a _lot_ of the Kevin/Stuart/Otto minifigs ended up permanently looking to the right. Buying one of each set only allows you to fix two of them.

@mynamesscooter:
It’s rare that someone with a mispack wins the day, but you pulled it off!

I think day 4 came with a spare droid arm!

By in United States,

Fun fact. Everyone of the days in my calendar has been something different than what it is supposed to be. My thought was that the tray was put into the box backwards. Yesterday and today confirmed that. Where these days are located on the calendar, turned 180 degrees, I got the box of junk pieces yesterday in Rockets box, and Rocket today in the parts box. I was mad on Day 1 when I didn't get the Starlord figure, but now I know I'll get him later in the month.

I know. But you said they were "rare." I'm saying that someone who wants a dump of eyeball parts can buy a bunch of 30387 if they can find them and have a load of four eyes per polybag.

See this is more acceptable than the weapons rack of two days ago. Technically they’re both the same thing but this one is more creative about it

@ResIpsaLoquitur:
Clearly you have not bought at least three copies of every non-Brickheadz Minions set. There are nine different Minions eye tiles.

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?pg=1&catXrefLevel=0&colorPart=86&catType=P&catID=812&v=1

This is as condensed as I was able to easily make them. The first two, the fifth, and the last two are from other themes, but this shows all nine minifig Minions eye tiles in one condensed group. By far the most common is open brown, looking right. Second most common is open green, looking left. This specific eye is one of the rarest, being limited to one-eyed Stuart in one set. Stuart got a few exclusive eyes like that. Bob’s squinty green eye is similarly rare, since he only has one eye that’s green, and he only has squinty eyes in one set. Since half their expression comes from their eyes, the print on them is fairly significant.

Very true!
I don't mind calendar filler, but I do prefer the somewhat nicer parts and/or exclusively printed kind of filler ;-)
