Marvel Advent Calendar - Day 9
Posted by CapnRex101,
Rocket Raccoon has now been the focus across four days of this Advent Calendar. Attention will surely move to another Guardians of the Galaxy team member on day nine.
An exclusive minifigure would be perfect...
Nebula should put this Advent Calendar back on track. Five versions of the character have been produced and this example is entirely new, featuring a slight smiling expression and some extra metallic silver printing to differentiate the updated head from Nebula's last appearance in 76131 Avengers Compound Battle.
However, the most appealing element is undoubtedly her unique Christmas jumper, which looks fantastic. Thanos stares out from the front, flanked by the six Infinity Stones, while the reverse is even better, with Nebula and her sister Gamora in a heart. I love Nebula's evidently sentimental taste in knitwear!
The minifigure includes a present, appropriately wrapped in blue and lavender paper to match Nebula's distinctive colours and with a bow, represented by a flower, on top.
Overall - Unique minifigures are always appreciated in Advent Calendars and Nebula's festive attire is delightful!

Very nice
Very festive severed Thanos head. Love it!
Best one so far
It's about time! This AC really needed to get "back on track," and stop dribbling out the cheap, crapily-designed crap from this shrinkflated, price-gouging exemplar of Lego™ greed.
As Shaquille O'Neal says, "shrinkflation is another word for robbery!" Especially when combined with price inflation!!!
This Day is nice. I agree with the Cap'n. The sweater should have been reversed.
Well... at least it's not a robot dinosaur with one arm and one leg shooting fire from its back end at a turkey.
I have no idea anymore who this is supposed to be, but I might have an idea. Yesterday people told me this calender was also about Parts and Re-creation or TLM 2.
I haven't watched Parts and Re-creation, but surely this is someone from that movie? Does it have blue people that love pink and green people?
But most likely it's TLM2. The Lego Movies would probably have Owen Grady in it somewhere (he debuted after the 1st one after all!). And it has pink people with nail polish hair and blue skinned sparkly vampire teens with crystal hair. Maybe this woman is one that has grown bald?
Maybe that's why she is wears a shirt of the pink person, because he is also bald and is her hero?
Such niche subject matter. Who even knows this character?
The true nature of this calender is continuing to evade me. Perhaps one day I'll understand this eclectic anomaly...
@Binnekamp
I mean between the colour and lack of hair are you sure this isn’t just a slightly eclectic interpretation of Blue the raptor?
Watch the next 2 days be accessories for Nebula.
If you add the extra 1x1 plates onto the gift, it would be about the right size for the gift Nebula gave Rocket.
@StyleCounselor:
If only it were possible to remove and reattach minifig arms…
@Binnekamp:
Wyldstyle. With azure hair.
Why are her hands that shade of blue?

I think they are gloves.

Well April Ludgate is always blue (or sad and miserable, if you will) and she loves Andy Dwyer a whole lot, but I'm going to assume the pink guy and the green gal are artistic license. No doubt someone is trying to resurrect Parks and Recreation for their dying streaming service in the desperate streaming war of attrition, in which we will finally meet these enigmatic figures.
Then again, Claire from Jurassic World is also sad because of the dinosaurs, and she does know a raptor named Blue ... and all of the raptors in The Lego Movie 2 are blue ...
Mysteries abound, my good Binnekamp. Mysteries abound.

Touche'! I might just do that.

Yeah, much as we like complaining, we really should give TLG a pass here. They were probably working off of early concept art for Blue the raptor -- or maybe Blue's baby raptor?
We didn't get Nebula in today's window! Instead we got a double of Day 6, Rocket's box of goodies :(
For yesterday: I told you @PurpleDave that the turkey, table and flame would all come in the one day!
@Aelbeyali:
That sounds even less like “goodies”.
@ozbrickcreator:
Yeah, I was actually aware of it at the time (but to say so would be spoilery). I cut the tape and pull the tray out each day to build each daily model, so I can store everything in the original box. Once I’ve built that day’s model, I like to “prep” the next one by neatly flattening the baggie, inserting it diagonally into the cup, and folding down the big that’s sticking up. It’s not like it has a blinking light, but the next day I can usually find it very quickly doing it this way. The downside is I always know when (and which) minifigs are coming, plus turkey parts pretty clearly mean you’re going to build a turkey (in all the years since they produced the turkey carcass, I don’t think I’ve seen a single set that had NPU of the body itself). And I happened to spot some trans-orange. But that doesn’t mean I can’t have fun with the situation, right?
I thought Nebula's wearing an ugly sweater ;)
