Marvel Advent Calendar - Day 10
Posted by CapnRex101,
The three licensed Advent Calendars contained exclusive minifigures yesterday, which certainly raises expectations for the coming days. I could envisage more accessories today.
Find out after the break...
Fortunately, we have avoided accessories in favour of a mini depiction of the Laser Drill spacecraft from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2. A rounded fuselage is certainly its most recognisable feature and the colours look great, comprising a combination of flame yellowish orange, yellow and a tiny red highlight beneath the cockpit. I like the claws at the front as well, formed using a clip.
Overall - While the vehicle should be slightly elongated, I am satisfied with this recreation of the Laser Drill.

Its a cute little thing but im always glad to get the 1x3 jumper plate with 2 studs. The orange ingot and the trans smokey 1x1 round tile are also welcomed. All around i enjoyed this one.
It's fine! Although I'm definitely getting more of a "2001: A Space Oddysey" vibe from this one; just recolour to white and you're done.
Well, it does have some nice parts on it. Someone said the other day that their spouse is opening the even number days. Sucks that they missed all three minifigs and keep having to wonder what the heck they are looking at.
The one thing the GOTG franchise is missing is iconography. (Marvel's icons seem to be in its characters more than their vehicles, although comics readers know a few things like the traditional Quinjet or the Baxter Building.) My reaction on opening this was, huh, what? So: okay, then.

Yeah... I'm a bit tired of complaining about this AC. So, I'm going to do what the designer did and phone it in.
I’m thinking the flash of red is just for variety of color when you break it down into parts, rather than as external coloration of the model itself. You can also see the 1x1 round plates through the 3x3 dishes’ hollow studs, but that sort of incidental visibility never seems to count.
@ResIpsaLoquitur:
I recognized it for what it’s meant to represent. I just couldn’t tell you what _that_ was supposed to be, within the context of the film.
Hey! Maybe I was getting too confused by the previous days and I got too focussed on the possibility of this being a TLM2 or Parts and Re-creation calender.
Because this is clearly one of those sphere things from the Jurassic World film! Maybe it's based on concept art? It must still be from Jurassic Park 4 as an early version of the sphere vehicles!
That must be it! And yesterdays lady must be an early human hybrid version of Blue!
How could I ever doubt it was NOT a Jurassic World calender?!
It all makes sense now!
@Binnekamp:
I'm glad you have come to your senses; was starting to get worried there.
I don't remember who said it but I remembered a few days ago someone said they were building theirs inside the bags! I gave it a go for the first time today and was successful!

Day 11 must be a Jimmy Fallon minifigure to explain to us how the ride works!
