Marvel Advent Calendar - Day 12
Posted by CapnRex101,
Microscale vehicles are well-suited to LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendars, as there are countless classic subjects to draw from, whereas Marvel arguably lacks such possibilities.
However, the Guardians' bigger spacecraft may be suitable for microscale...
Instead, we return to minifigure-scale, with a table of food and drink. Sand blue elements appear again, matching other furnishings in this Advent Calendar, but the design is otherwise very bland. Even so, the printed orange slice is relatively uncommon and there is a spare included, alongside extra icing swirls, so those are useful.
Overall - Despite including some nice pieces, this table adds to the growing selection of underwhelming models in the Advent Calendar.

On the plus side, the build is recognizable. It can also be considered festive. I have not encountered the orange slice tile before, so that is certainly welcome. And best of all, they gave us a bottle of wine to deal with all of the sorrows of days worth of unfamiliar stuff.
I feel like those silver cups aren’t common either.
I feel like, in a more enjoyable calendar, this model would've rated highly as a cute way to get a collection of interesting or rare pieces.
Give 'em 'ell Cap'n!! Aargh.
This AC just keeps poopin' out the crap. Pieces are respectable today. But, whom designed this thing?! Some reject from a failed Lego Masters audition, a random person from the street, some in-bred, Lego nepotism hire. Whom the hell is doing this, who approved it, and why o' why did I buy it?!
It's supposed to be a premium licensed AC. It can't hold a candle next to the SW or HP.
Crap, I just jinxed it. Tomorrow we're probably going to get some lame version of Rocket's Xmas Space Candle.
Definitely regretting buying this one. Don't even need the figs given I already have the UCS Benatar. The most enthusiasm I've been able to must for anything is "oh, that's a neat piece to get". Rocket's gun is good, but split across two days.
@chrisaw: They're in twelve sets, all from this year or last.
@chrisaw:
This marks 12 sets since the silver mugs debuted last year.
Finally a recognizable build! I love the scene where Hammond and Ellie Satler were discussing the Jurassic Park over ice cream.
It's not the most accurate build in the world, but the colors are Jurassic World enough that this might just be a forgivable. That must mean we get a Jurassic Park character next? Right? RIIIGHT?!
I even forgive the Jurassic World calender for jumping from Jurassic World to Jurassic Park 4 (to possibly TLM2) and now to Jurassic Park in the least visually distinctive scene from the whole movie. But at least it hasn't been done before!
EDIT:
"Now, the next time everything's correctable. Creation is an act of sheer will. Next time it'll be flawless."
- John Hammond, creator of a park full of murderous dinosaurs that then inspired an even bigger park full of murderous dinosaurs
Maybe the inclusion of this build is trying to tell us something about the calender.
@Binnekamp:
Clearly, the last twelve days are going to combine to make a lifesize dinosaur.
Amazon discount bot says this set is currently 47% off in the US. I'm not sure it's worth it even at that price.

BEST COMMENT EVER!
Like all genius, it seems so obvious, simple, and something that I should have thought. But, probably never would. It took you to make us all laugh!
Ya’ll really hate this calendar.

On the contrary, this is the best Parks And Recreation advent calendar I have ever seen.

With the rate we get pieces in this thing we'd be lucky to be able to make an minifig sized one!
I didn't even notice they were printed before I was dealing with the spare parts...
At least that gives some point to day 12
Yay, orange slices for Ant-Man!
@Binnekamp:
Hey, I didn’t say it was a T-Rex. There were some very tiny dinosaurs back then:

Glad to see I’m not the only one who isn’t enjoying this year’s Marvel offering. The decision to keep it strictly GotG themed is really hurting it. Retreads of builds like the tower and quinjet would have been more welcome.

I’m going to say extremely loosely loosely based on the GOTG Holiday Special. Obviously they would’ve hard barely anything to go off in terms of concept art, but it would’ve been amazing to get a Kevin Bacon, Cosmo or other relevant props etc from the special.
Food stuffs is always 5/5 for me.
This is basically a weapons rack, just for food instead of guns.
