Marvel Advent Calendar - Day 18

Posted by ,

Another seasonal item was introduced on day seventeen, which was appreciated. Maybe the seven remaining days will focus exclusively on that Christmas theming.

Door eighteen should give an indication...

At last, we receive a microscale vehicle that reaches the same standard as those from the Star Wars Advent Calendar! The colourful Milano looks excellent, capturing the distinctive beak-like nose of the spacecraft and its swept-back wings. Furthermore, the colour combination of flame yellowish orange, blue and pearl silver corresponds with the onscreen vessel.

The engine and angled fins across the back are impressive too, particularly since these fins are adjustable. The wings do seem very bulky, although there were no obvious alternatives for their construction at this scale, so I am satisfied with this design. In fact, this is my favourite model in the Advent Calendar so far!

Overall - The Milano's characteristic shape and bright colours are ideally suited to LEGO, even at this scale.

Loving the use of tooth plates here, especially for the cockpit.

The best part of MCU GotG is the names of his ships. I’ll die on that hill

By in Netherlands,

It's another robot bird in flight

But it's a much nicer looking robot bird in flight. It even has little metal feathers and a beak!
It can even flap its wings this time!

I want to give this a pass because birds are dinosaurs. But robot birds are a stretch. I guess we've had robot dinosaurs before this calender. And these two birds are at least not one armed! Zero legged though...
It's like the Jurassic World calender can't make up its mind anymore whether it's JP4 (original script) or TLM2. Now it's just trying to kinda be both?

And what's with this calender and putting trans. orange on the back end of their robot birds? Did the designer eat too much spicy mexican food or something?

I would love a large Milano, in the same scale they did the Benetar. So much yellow and blue!

Sigh, of course *this* is the first day where my calendar has the wrong parts. (I got another copy of Peter's small tape deck and box w/headphones.

The pictures (here and on the door) are some of the trickier ones so far -- can anyone confirm that I have the parts list correct for ordering replacements?

@TheOtherMike:
I think you were overthinking last year’s snowman. Someone else wears the same style armor, which makes the perfect name “Snow Machine”.

@DrakeMallard:
First of all, you might be overthinking this. I don’t have personal experience with this, but I believe they just send out the whole bag when people are missing Advent Calendar models. Second, the numbers you have listed are useless without the colors. There are seven-digit numbers that identify the shape and color combination, which is more useful for doing this by phone. Third, you can do everything online:
https://www.lego.com/en-us/service/replacementparts/missing/enter-set-number

Enter 76231 to pull up the full inventory of this calendar. You’ll have to dig through the entire list to find what you’re looking for, but everything you need seems to be available at the moment.

https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=76231-19
That will get you the full inventory of just this day’s model, or you could even order the sealed bag from someone.

And fourth and finally, Let’s Get Dangerous!

I'll say, f@$ing finally!!! This dumpster fire AC has actually produced a decent build. Just goes to show, if you hire 1 million monkeys to pound away at typewriters maybe they will produce Shakespeare. One line at least.

"To be or not to be, that...."

@PurpleDave: You're right. I used the parts catalog to order everything I think I needed, but it ended up rejecting it (too many parts?), so I just sent them an email instead. I've since seen some other comments here, and it sounds like they'll just send the whole bag (or maybe even a whole new calendar).

PS: I am the terror that flaps in the night... ??

I have never been more unimpressed with and Advent Calendar as I have been with this one. So much so, that I just opened the remainder of the days this morning because my excitement for this one is over.

Very nice build today. I will admit that this designer had the hardest job among the licensed calendars. Star Wars had a ton of iconic vehicles, objects, and locations to fill in the non-minifig days.
Harry Potter has several movies and scenes also to draw upon. GoG, not so much. We have the Benetar and the Milano. Anything else based on a vehicle or scene is probably going to be confusing. So you end up spending a week arming Rocket, have giant candy canes, and a boom box here and there. In fairness to the designer, I am not sure what I could do with this one either.

My favourite non-minifig model of the Gotg AC so far! 6 more models, two of which must be Groot and Drax!

What I did was just send an email to customer service and said I'd been given the wrong stuff on X day and could they please let me know what parts I needed. The CSR who responded arranged to have the full set of parts sent to me. It's not yet arrived, but it's on the way.

Can't seem to edit my previous post. I was going to add, at least it wasn't an extra copy of Rocket's box of junk or the tool rack.

Posts can be edited, or deleted, for a period of time after being submitted. It’s not more than an hour, but I don’t know the exact time limit. After that, you just have to edit by posting a retraction.
