Marvel Advent Calendar - Day 19
Posted by CapnRex101,
The appealing microscale Milano spacecraft that arrived yesterday was undoubtedly my favourite vehicle from the Advent Calendar so far, offering extensive detail for its scale.
Hopefully day nineteen proves as enjoyable...
Groot joins the Guardians of the Galaxy today, albeit in his teenage form, rather than the more advanced stage shown in the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. Nevertheless, this figure looks superb, returning from 76193 The Guardians' Ship and therefore featuring the same dark tan colour, which I think is most suitable for Groot.
While its part number has changed, the head remains unaltered from the 2021 set, continuing to include the same slight smile and sand green highlights. Maybe a unique expression could have been provided, but this smile seems appropriate for the festive period. Additionally, the torso and legs remain intricately detailed, with the same subtle accents as the head.
Groot is packaged with a reddish brown neck bracket and a printed mobile phone. However, the more interesting feature is the cloud-shaped base, the purpose of which will doubtless become clear in the coming days.
Overall - This is an outstanding minifigure, with some intriguing accessories!

I suspect the cloud base is supposed to represent snow.
Very nice indeed!
Is that phone piece new?
Day 19. I have no idea anymore what on earth the Jurassic World calender is even doing.
Why does this person look like an eldritch bart simpson? Are they another hybrid? A god standing on a cloud? A fungal growth in the shape of a human sprouting from the snow (complete with spores at the top)?
Then why the phone? Is this person actually behind it all? Is that phone their method of contacting all their minions we've seen throughout the calender? Their facial expression is one of pure evil, certainly...
This Jurassic World calender is an absolute enigma. But at least we'll know for sure that this time we won't get another day with almost no parts solely to add an accesory that makes it even more puzzling again. Right? Right!??

Hi Carl it’s good to see your back on Brickset.
We’ve missed you on the forum.
Calling it now, there'll be something that pegs into that bracket, and Groot's going to be this calendar's Christmas tree.

No, although it is a relatively new design. According to BrickLink it's appeared in 19 sets (including this one) since 2021. I'm quite partial to it myself.
I expected to get his full form on Christmas Eve, but this is a pleasant surprise!

Re: yesterday, you said the Milano was your favorite model from the GotG AC, and I was pointing out how incredibly low that bar had been set. Rocket’s gun was neat, but especially given how it took five days to cook a literal turkey, getting the gun and Rocket on separate days felt more stretched out than it probably should have.
@Binnekamp:
It’s an Ent, which is like the dinosaur of trees.
@Ridgeheart:
I think what you meant to say was, “I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot.”
Groot! Grooter! Grootst!

Allergrootst!
Of course this just shows that LEGO really needs to sort out below the knee printing.
It appears we have gotten all the minifigs from the box art. I am holding out hope we get a Kevin Baxon minifig for Christmas Eve.

Or maybe even a Kevin Bacon one, too.
So with only 5 days left, this leaves the tree, the weird white and red ship and Drax. If this isn't going to be on number 24, there only seems to be one minifig left...
I’ll do you one better. Why is Groot?!
I like today's minifigure very much. Haven't owned a Groot minifigure yet.

That is actually the main reason I bought a GotG calendar this year.

Aside from my girlfriend wanting to pool our money for one, I also wanted the Marvel sweaters because there's two, compared to the one in the Star Wars calendar (R2's torso doesn't count)
