Marvel Advent Calendar - Day 20

Posted by ,

An excellent Groot minifigure arrived yesterday, including a mysterious neck bracket that invites connection with something else. This associated item could emerge today.

Let's open the door and see...

Christmas trees are a requisite feature of nearly every Advent Calendar, including the licensed calendars one might not immediately associate with Christmas. This model is certainly creative, attaching to the neck bracket as through grown directly from Groot! I like the simple decorations and familiar conical shape, although that shape is only two-dimensional here.

Inevitably, the tree appears less impressive from other angles. However, something about this Christmas tree being lacklustre suits the Guardians of the Galaxy, since only Star-Lord is at all familiar with the holiday. Groot growing a few additional branches while the other Guardians add some hasty decorations seems wholly appropriate!

Overall - I think the unusual nature of this Christmas tree is its greatest strength.

Ok, attaching it to the neck bracket to make Groot into a Christmas tree is a pretty cool thing.

I wonder if they picked trans-purple as the decorations, because it was the purple Infinity stone that the Guardians were dealing with in their first movie?

After Mantis’ candy cane, we now have two references to the Holiday Special

Yep, called it yesterday. And once I get most of my collection out of storage, I'm tempted to recreate this with my Groot from 76102.

Aaah! The eldritch Bart Simpson ent god thing has sprouted tentacles with glowing eyes! And it has a starfish-like alien mouth! Run!

And what did I JUST say yesterday about splitting a build in two days for some accessory to be added? This is the spicy cooked turkey and one-armed-one-legged robot dinosaur's back end flame all over again. But now it's only one small thing.

I think a running theme with the Jurassic World calender is that there is less of a theme and moreso a glimpse into the head of someone who has seen into the multiverse and witnessed things man was not meant to see or something.

Or seen all of Parts and Re-creation including the secret later seasons. I'm guessing the effect is similar.

@Zordboy it's trans-pink though. And I'm pretty sure there are multiple Insanity stones growing from those tentacles here.

I'd like to see it done with 76217

Had to double check after reading this, but mine were trans pink, and the ones in the Article image definitely look more purple.

@GrizBe:
They’re transparent, so their observed color is affected by the grey background.

It's a Groot-mas Tree. Merry Groot-mas!

And in these these times of hardship, just remember, we, are, Groot.

I would've liked this better if I wasn't missing my Groot from yesterday. (I got another snowman instead.)

Wait, does this mean that today's build had only one big leaf and little 1x1 pieces?!

They have trans-purple infinity stones listed in the parts list for this set. If it was meant for infinity stones, like last year's for example, then they would have used them. Yet, it seems odd that those infinity stones are listed, since we only have 4 days left and I suspect the white and red ship will come in more than one day.

Don't be ridiculous, you'd have to melt them first.
