Star Wars Advent Calendar - Day 8

Posted by ,

Yet another wonderful mini vehicle appeared on day seven and another would be welcome today, although I expect a minifigure might be provided instead.

There is only one way to find out...

Day eight actually presents another brilliant vehicle, capturing the distinctive angles of the T-16 Skyhopper! Like others from the Advent Calendar, this model is perfectly proportioned and the fuselage shape is surprisingly accurate, bulging behind the cockpit. I think trans-black or even an opaque black plate could have been more appropriate for the windscreen, but trans-clear is fine and the laser cannon underneath looks superb too.

Overall - While not the most celebrated vehicle, this T-16 Skyhopper continues the exceptional standard of mini vehicles in 75340 Star Wars Advent Calendar.

Should've included a womp rat.

That's another really good minibuild, this SW calendar has been chock full of them so far.

This reminds me of beggar's canyon back home!

Needs some clear 1x2 bricks underneath so it can stand feely. I'm not sure if the wing clips would put pressure on the brick, so maybe instead a trans cone on a trans dish. Either way, great model but for the inability to stand upright.

75 credits for Teeka. Nice model, certainly swooshable for at least 9 years.

The contrast between the well-designed SW and HP ACs and all the rest of the trash ACs (Amigos, City, n GG) is really striking.

Wow, they even got in the red highlight! Nice!

Yes, I swooshed mine like Luke did with his toy in A New Hope...

Credit where due: @BrickCommander has done a particularly good job with the mini models in this year’s SW AC, or at least all those I know to be his/hers.

BrickCommander, are all of these your work this year, including this? If so, really nicely done, I must say. You should be proud.

Update: I added two trans 1x1 cylinders and a dish to the underside. Definitely too thin down there for a 1x2 brick. Anyway, holds it up fine.

Yeah, I was looking at the calendar yesterday and reflected that it has been really good so far. The battle droid is the weakest day for me, and even that is not BAD as such, I just already have a ton of them.

The Skyhopper is keeping up that trend – neat little model, and I like how the two slope pieces line up.

Ah, yes, the ultimate redneck ride, with the most overcompensatingest gun of any SW vehicle this side of the Death Star. I do feel it could have been improved by making the dorsal fin skinnier. Drop the angled brick, put a stud on the 1x1 brick, slap a grilled cheese on front, and figure out how to shift everything else around to match.

@ResIpsaLoquitur:
Do you realize how rare the trans-clear 1x1 cone is?

I used a cylinder, though.

By in Belgium,

Now that's a very poorly designed weapons rack!
It barely fits a ski pole!

Nah, they all got bullseyed already

@ResIpsaLoquitur: Alternate suggestion: Stick a trans-clear four-tall antenna into the underside, then attach that to a tan plate, to make it look like it's flying over the sans of Tatooine.

Ha ha the BD was the strongest day for me, I got TWO! (smug face)

By in Canada,

They couldn't have thrown a rat/mouse in for "targeting" purposes?
The spare ski pole is awesome though! Now we have two!

@ResIpsaLoquitur:
I may actually have one spare clear cone kicking around somewhere. I had to buy the one set they came in to get two for the PAB cup dispenser in my LEGO Store (which you can’t even really see through the front windows because they’re behind the cash register stations), and I think it came with three. Anyways, jump studs are another part that should work, and they’d have the benefit of dynamic posing.

@welshysensei:
W.R.O.U.S.es? That would be about the size of a bantha, compared to the T-16.

Can't see it in trans-clear on bricklink, not on parts list or for sale.

These minibuilds are awesome, and Star Wars has been very strong so far.

@Miyakan:
No, not cheap by a long shot. I ended up buying a copy of the set just because it cost slightly more than two of the cones, and it came with extras (and the Coca-Cola sticker sheet).
