Star Wars Advent Calendar - Day 18
Posted by CapnRex101,
Almost every LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar contains something relating to Hoth, including the Imperial Snowtrooper which arrived on day seventeen.
Presumably the Hoth focus will continue...
Echo Base is protected by countless DF.9 anti-infantry turrets during The Empire Strikes Back and the emplacement has appeared in an Advent Calendar once before. However, this design is much bigger and better than its precursor, with accurate proportions and the ability to rotate. The conical shape of the tower is missing, although no rendition of the DF.9 has captured that feature, even at minifigure-scale.
Overall - I like this DF.9 anti-infantry turret, even though a static structure inevitably provides lower play value than microscale vehicles.

Yes, some mobility would be cool. But, this is nice. Need plenty of turrets for the AT-ATs to smash!
DF stands for Dies First, because these were useless against AT-ATs, which tended to shoot back if you left scuffs and scorch marks they’d have to buff out when they got back to the ship.
It looks quite good! I like the shape of the top section.
This looks like it's about on scale for the silly shield generator and probe droid that came in Advent Calendars past. Too small for a minifigure, too large for other micro Hoths (looking at the turret gun from several years ago). But just right for those other pieces.
This was a very welcome surprise for me, since I’m still not used to the existence of 3x3 round tiles. What a nice part; I want more of them. This isn’t my first (that might have been in 123 Sesame Street), but I’m not exactly swimming in them.
This & yesterday's Snowtrooper will fit nicely into my developing Hoth battle scene.
Another excellent build.
What is the difference between Tatooine and Hoth?
On Tatooine you can find Mos Eisley.
On Hoth you’ll find ice mostly.
They just had to add turntable. Nice build but quite sad
I really love this. A surprisingly chunky, substantial little build.
I really like the design of the top section. Four sloped pieces in a spiral. Simple and effective!
