LEGO has published official images of 40564 Winter Elves Scene on LEGO.com.

I think we can reasonably assume that this set will be available over the VIP and Black Friday weekends, but the spend threshold remains unknown.

Box images are available after the break...

Nice set, but don't squirrels hibernate during winter?

Wait until we tell you about elves.

No :)

By in Canada,

It's a nice set, but not nice enough to actively go to the site and order something for it.

By in United States,

Looks quite similar to 40484 Santa's Front Yard. I'm not sure if that is a plus or a minus. I'd almost want it to be MORE of a coherent series, or else do something completely different. Maybe if it also had the night sky background? Regardless, it's fun!

I wish brickset spaced out its articles better. It goes from nothing for days to six articles in a day

Yes, they should've put one of the white rabbits or a Husky dog instead.

I’m sure they wish that Lego would release things a certain way, but they are gonna do what they do. :)

By in Netherlands,

I read somwhere that the threshold would be 170 euros. That's just too high for me.

Some of them maybe, but Sciurus vulgaris, and this is in this set, is not hibernating.

By in United States,

Cute set. But looking at it makes me wonder how many of those pieces are something other than a 1x1 or 1x2 tile/brick.

By in United States,

I know the squirrels around my house stay active during the winter.

The set overall looks okay. I don't know if it is really worth the expense, but if I'm going to be buying anyway I guess I could time it for when this is available. I like the red torso.

By in United States,

Glad to finally see a red Elf torso. Hope it will show up on PAB eventually. I also hope at least one of the big sets I've been holding off purchasing will actually be available online so I can take advantage of the VIP double points promo.

Elusive? It was in last year’s promo and the Build A Mini bar at Lego stores

By in United States,

It's a cute set; now I just wonder what the pay threshold will be. Maybe I need to lower the thermostat more??

Gravatar
By in Indonesia,

Huw, it is mentioned yesterday (from the source that you also know) that the final threshold for the qualifying purchase is set to: $170 / €170 / £170. Maybe you want to add that info ??

There will be a VIP Early Access on two specific days. It is better for you to post and mention that info ??

@johleth:
Sort of? Many ground squirrels (such as the arctic ground squirrel) are obligate hibernators, which hole up in their burrows and sleep during the winter season, regardless of temperature or food availability. Others, like the eastern grey squirrel, stay pretty active, living off stashed nuts and seeds and fat reserves until the weather turns warm. They may be less active, and sleep deeper during the winter, but they do leave their nests.

By in United States,

@EDHS1989: Well, not everyone got that promo or lives close enough to a Lego store, so yes, elusive.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I was hoping 40489 would be released this year.

As any birdwatcher will tell you, we spend an exorbitant amount of money designing devices or buying devices to keep squirrels out of our bird feeders in winter...

By in United Kingdom,

Very nice GWP. Several D2C sets still on my wishlist so shall definitely get this, plus the 40565 Santa's Workshop rumoured for December.

The Legorisimus Plasticaris Squirrel sleeps whenever it likes!

I wish this was available as a cheap set

By in Canada,

The Canadian site is listing it at a $220 CAD threshold

@bgallenb:
My dad said his dad spent a long time figuring out the best location for a bird feeder in their back yard, placing it as far away from every roof, tree, fence, and pole as possible. One day he looked out back and saw a squirrel on the garage roof, gauging the distance. After a bit, it backed up, ran full speed to the edge of the garage, put everything it had into making that jump…and managed to grab the very bottom tier of the bird feeder. I never heard what he did after that.

By in United States,

The rotating elf on a single skate is a little bizarre? I'm no skater myself but I don't think anybody goes skating and rotates on the spot left and right?
Either make it with the elf wearing a pair of skates as is usually how skates are worn or don't put the rotation in the set?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

So, a hybrid merge of last years Xmas GWP (Santa's Front Yard) and the year before's (Ice Skating Ring)?

@Stoker_stu:
Hockey skates and speed skates have straight blades, which don’t allow you to spin like that. Figure skates have a little bit of a rocker shape, and spins are expected. You can even change the speed at which you rotate by
Pulling your extremities in or extending them. If you buy a pair of ice skates to just hit the local rink, I’d think you’d end up with figure skates.
