Second Christmas GWP revealed
Posted by Huw,
The instructions for 40564 Winter Elves Scene were published yesterday and the back pages of it have revealed an image of the second seasonal gift with purchase: 40565 Santa's Workshop.
The model, which comes with an elf and Santa minifigs, is designed to butt up to the outdoor scene to form a larger diorama, although doing so rather ruins the forced perspective of the mountains.
There's no word on its availability yet, but it's likely to be a GWP for a week or so during the first half of December.

Might be cheaper building your own out of bricks and mortar. Lego prices these days make me weep. Completely unaffordable.
Well, hmm…. Maybe it will be better than it looks here, but this is rather underwhelming. This year’s Christmas sets seem pretty flat, both in design and impact. I hope these holiday designs are better next year, and return to the standard we’ve come to expect.
Why don’t they just sell these as cheap sets instead of having them as gwps? These cute displays feel fairly adult-oriented, and Lego has way too few cheap adult-oriented sets
BUY MORE!!! AND OFTEN!!!
I like the idea of the sets, but they really do look better as standalone, because they don't really fit together (beyond the Christmas theme), in fact, they look worse displayed together.

I hope this'll be a gwp in the last week of december - That's when I'll be spending hundreds over at the lego house store so I shouldn't have an issue with meeting minimum purchase amounts then.

I help you hoping (;)) But it'd would be weird to have a Xmas-oriented GWP AFTER Xmas, wouldn't it ;)
Cool little set, threshold sucks indeed. Wonder if it would take much MODding to fit up to 40106?
Not my cup of tea,..... don't fit right in christmas village, but free is free if I'm buying something.
oh good. another santa. most people only have 3
@Huw idea for an article: analyse the GWP price thresholds in recent years to see if they have risen significantly. It definitely feels that way (with several this year requiring £150+) but it would be fascinating to see the data
Collect them all!
Just make giant purchases in November AND December!
Whst do you mean you already got what you need?
Don't you want to complete this great scene?
A really nice little vignette although the picture doesn't really do it justice, not showing off the play feature of the conveyer belt very well.
The 40512 Fun and Funky Add on will also be back by then, making the rumoured £170 threshold a bit better.
This will look good with 40484 placed in between the two sets.
It is a barn.
So, Santa lives in a barn? ;-)
Nicer set than 40564, in my opinion, but I'm running out of sets on my wishlist to get all these GWPs. I half expect 40565 to return sometime next year, though, as last year's Christmas GWP has. Also, plenty on the aftermarket for fair prices.

Exactly...the marketing mantra. Gotta have those incentives out there as LEGO, at the LEGO store, rarely goes on "sale".
December 5th to 24th is my guess for this GWP :)

Meanwhile, LEGO cancels the only set with an amazing Mrs. Clause…

"Money

Share it fairly, but don't take a slice of my pie
Money
So they say
Is the root of all evil today
But if you ask for a rise
It's no surprise that they're giving none away"
(Lego seems to love that Pink Floyd song, as they're embodying it!)

I think you'll find that GWP have also gotten larger, so they scale with the increased GWP price thresholds.
My thoughts from my first glance at the photo were "cool! they connect together", but that enthusiasm was quickly diminished upon realizing the sets simply sit next to each other and are hardly cohesive at all.
That said, I did like the red barn GWP more than the elves from the leaks, so I look forward to picking it up at a (hopefully) reasonable threshold.
In case you didn't know: Yes, you can place two LEGO plates next to each other! Amazing, I know.
I mean, it's free so I'm not going to complain. It isn't something I HAVE to have thankfully. Even if I don't complete the series. It doesn't stand out. I think the Elves set looks better ultimately. But if I decide to buy something in December maybe it will hit the threshold. I guess I'll wait and see. But I'm running out of sets I even want period thanks to money and msrp these days.

I ask this every time they release a great GWP :(
Just how many orders in this 6-week period are they expecting us to make? I'm not even sure what I'll order to add the Dragon Ride to (which I've already cashed in the points for), let alone get this, the other 3 rides... Glad I'm not going for completion on all this stuff, but I feel for those who'd like to.
Cute model, though. Here's hoping they give us good reason to order stuff. It pains me to pay full price and order from Lego directly when I know a lot of things eventually turn up elsewhere with good discounts. I think we're all feeling the price squeeze these days.
@Sethro3 but it's not free. Free means they give it to you and you don't have to spend any money. But I agree on all your other points. With money and MSRP, I don't know what else I'd be buying this year. I've already spent more than usual because, admittedly, there've been a lot of amazing sets this year.
Why didn't they make this the Black Friday GWP?
Between the last year's xmas gwp and this years, It seems LEGO has decided to make the xmas GWP significantly worse going forward and sell their what might've been the xmas GWPs in the past as standalone products. Sad
The least they could have done is give us another red elf.
I really like this promo, the red barn is great! I may need to expand it a little, to put my "one horse open sleigh" set from years ago in this.
Or make it into the hot chocolate & chocolate chip cookie haven at my minifigs Christmas tree farm. Where minifigs can warm up after going out in a horse drawn sleigh to select and cut down their family Christmas tree. Just like the barn at the Christmas tree farm my family went to for years, to cut down our family tree and enjoy hot chocolate & cookies while waiting for the tree to be processed. Can't wait to get this!!
This is the first year in the last several I haven’t purchased for the Christmas GWPs. Money is tighter, thresholds higher, and the promo sets just not that desirable.
I think the Dickens set was the pinnacle.
Santa's place looks like the 'missing link' between Scala and Fabuland (the missing walls esp.)...either that...or...Santa's place is a FRONT!:D

It's a workshop, not a house."
You might remember that set 10245 Santa's Workshop appeared to have living quarters. That set also looked more like a house from the outside than this one. I guess Mrs. Claus had him move the toy making out of the house because it was taking up a lot of space in the living room. "Off to the barn, Nicholas!" Maybe that's why she's not included. That fig was great, though.

At least you can purchase a Mrs Claus minifig in-shop this month (or quarter) for a while. She comes with a pretzel, you know, like they traditionally do in Denmark:

Except that they might actually make more money from people who'd like the GWP set but can't afford/don't want to buy whatever you're supposed to get to glom onto these.
