I was sure there would eventually be ONE otter in some 130$ Coastguard set, so getting TWO in a 10$ set is an otter delight!
Trans-light blue visors are back!
MXC for Police? Neat.
THOSE OTTERS THOUGH. GIMME GIMME GIMME
I have a feeling that recycling truck will be popular.
Aww yeah always love the City trucks. Police and Fire are looking more and more "junior" as time goes on it seems - that's fine, I know those lines are always a hit for kids. And it's not as if I'm not already overflowing with cops and firemen.
I can imagine many people looking like 60356 come the morning of 1 January. And I like the massive banana in 60375.
That esports truck is utterly ridiculous and because of that, I utterly *adore* it
60394 ATV and Otter Habitat! Four animals in what looks to be a $10 set? Fantastic! Even if I already have plenty of frogs and fish in many colors.
Lots of animals overall. :)
Gotta have those otters!
I just found my significant otter(s)..
Can we expect Police Academy 2 next year?
Only 9 police/fire sets this year? :P
Why on earth does the gaming trailer have such tiny wheels in an enormous wheel well?
I'll probably pick up a couple of the smaller sets like the ATV and the tractor. The recycling truck and slushie truck are nice (between the ice cream truck, the grocer's van, and this you're well on your way to a farmer's market) but I'm on the fence on whether I'll buy them. The rest are pretty lack-luster IMO. The designs just aren't on par with those from a few years ago, which is a shame.
Always good to be a little otter in wintertime...

Oh, you!
A lot to like here, I can't find a single badly designed set in this bunch. Well done.
So many animal and hair recolors! I also love the new torsos prints that I can see as well the new puppy mold! Otters already existed, right? I thought they appeared in the Hogwarts sparkly animal set(I'm not knowledgeable on HP names). Either way I appreciate the continued city extensions! And that giant slushy build is fantastic!
Some will do well, some will be forgotten in 2024. I'll take the otters, the tuning "garage", the garbage truck , slush truck, MAYBE tho off road adventure and, yes, the police chase set.
Can we heave more reasonable (SMALLER) packaging please? Trying to fool people into thinking big package = big content is so outdated!
Some recurrent copy/pastes but some very nice new ideas and variations as well.
Lots of new and fun items. I need the penguin slushy van, and ten of the otter sets.
Lots of rather generic police and fire stuff, nothing truly bad but not much special either. They will do their job as a toy. I'd say just the Police Training Academy and the Fire Command Truck are standouts among these (though both in desperate need of some good discounts...).
Those Stunt bikes aren't that special either, the Bear is fine, but nothing comes close to last years' Bathtub.
From the other ones I like the Custom Car Garage the most, fun play set and not a terrible price either. Same goes for the Off-Roader, looks a bit weird but kids will love it.
I do very much like the idea of the Gaming Tournament Truck, but the execution seems lacking. It just looks so uninspired, even worde than 60343 did. And €45? I'm not feeling it.....
Honestly, there is so much to unpack here. I just checked the prices, and they actually seem properly priced. It may have something to do with the lack of road plates... I love how many interesting $10 sets they have this year as well. That otter set will probably be a bestseller because of it. Also, I love that Lego wipeout is a thing now.
Definitely an upgrade from this year's City sets
Ok but like when can we have more Artic stuff??
@McBrightside said:
"Ok but like when can we have more Artic stuff??"
Or Antarctic, with penguins instead of polar bears!
It’s the puppy for me. So damn cute.
I haven’t bought a city set for myself in a few years. But l definitely want to get that Mobile Police Dog Training set
There's also some other stuff revealed, including Creator, Disney and Minecraft sets. They're already in the Brickset database, filter 2023 and "Has image".
The cyber stuntman gives me Unitron vibes. It's probably the shades and blue visor with yellow-ish helmet...
A game tournament truck is simultaneously a crazy idea and the most current day City theme set idea ever. Why does it _have_ to be a truck?
The garage is nice.
What in the blazes is that 4x4 monstrosity of a vehicle?
A police academy is a novel idea for current day City standards. I mean, it's still police... for the n-th year in a row. But at least it's something different within that well-trodden ground.
Also of note: the Police Academy is actually focussed on the building for once! Just a small ATV! Good! It might be the only non-4+ set that's fully focussed on the building instead of having the budget eaten by big vehicles, but they finally did it!
More fire...
At least we have one other construction set again! But it's not even yellow? What's wrong with yellow construction vehicles?
It's a shame about this CGI though. It's like it's regressing from the relatively unobrusive more lifelike visuals from years past. Now it looks like I have to squint to actually image what the sets will actually be like.
@jkb I remember lego making a big deal of releasing sets in smaller boxes back in 2011. You know, 11- nearly 12 years ago. Maybe they can 'offord' to blow up the box sizes more because of the phasing out of plastic bags...?
EDIT: Are those prices for real? There's no way that 4x4 fire truck is 9,99!
Lego City still whack with those prices (some really great price point but some obviously overpriced)

Agreed. I used the 2014 Arctic as a springboard to make a large cold-weather space base. The latter 2018 stuff just got color-changed to match the earlier stuff. I hope they continue using orange if they do Arctic again.
The cactus arms for the dog training suit is genius ??
Like the otters too
All in all, this has got to be one of the best City Waves for a while surely?
No one gonna talk about how there is an officer wearing a bite suit in the K9 training set? Haha looks like recolored cactus suit arms!
I love all the new animals this year (especially the puppy German Shepherd)! I passed on City last year with the exception of the crane, but I might have to get a couple of these.
Otters!!!
The slushy will be great after that 20% Amazon discount.
The Otters... Amazing price, and we get two but Lego is quite good with making cute animals that ai don't understand how did they make one of the cutuest animals in the world so.. no cute? It doesn't look like an Otter. Such a weird mold. I don't think I would have guessed it'd an Otter without the caption, maybe ferret. And where's the signature on my back holding something famous pose ? :)
Police, Fire, Police, Fire... Remember when we'd get a wave of police every few years? Now it's just non-stop....
The only ones I might get are the slushy van and the otters.
Why is it Lego still can't get the mudguards on quad bikes the right way around?
Well, I otter get me a copy of 60394!
Man, so many of the sets look like they could be Juniors sets. That said, the Police Academy set looks pretty neat, but my faves are probably the Penguin Slushie truck and the video game tournament truck.
Lots of great stuff here. I especially love how they've just given up and said 'Let's just make a police/fire/ambulance set with everything together!' I'm sure it will sell well though!
Also, doing a definite facepalm at the Mobile Police Dog Training set. I will absolutely be getting one, and I love the GSD puppy, and the dog suit is inspired... but I'm a little shocked that they made the set, since the kind of police dog training that needs that kind of suit is... not really kid friendly, lol. I actually think that set is even more ridiculous than the mobile gaming truck set (which is already over the top in the best way), just in a way more subtle way. Definitely made me laugh out loud when I saw it though.
At last, an Otter Battlepack!
Lots of $10 sets which is great. Something cheap for everyone with a lot of fun new parts and some rarer existing ones. Larger sets seem to be decently priced as well. No $45 farmer's market truck this year!
The gaming tournament truck is the only thing for me that stands out, the rest are mostly remakes…..police trucks and fire trucks galore! *sigh*
Some good looking stuff. Police, fire & ambulance in one set is decent. Quite a few different ideas that aren't emergrency services.
Did the 2 police training sets really need to be police, though?
I see that new 2020s look is well established. The fire command truck looks very unimoggy.
Friends once again proves its better city theme xD
I'm not crazy about the price, but the Recycling Truck looks really good.
The mobile police dog training set 60369 might be the first 'police' set I buy in the last 40 years (got some police jetski for free but never bought anything after my dark ages and even then my parents bought them for me).
I wonder where else we will see the 'screw' part of the police academy.
Otter habitat is a must.
The trailer's wheels of the game tournament truck are ridiculously small (no need to be big because the load on them is negligible but the arch around them is huge making this look weird.)
Significantly better than what we had in 2022. And a few recolours that pleases me on top of that!
Police puppy and otters... All round yes please
Fortunately the $20 “great vehicle” sets are in fact still at the $19.99 price point on LEGO.con, not $29.99 as the article states. Referring to the Slushy Van (60384) and Digger (60385).
Oooh. Lego city seems to be bringing in 'modern' vehicle looks with thin headlights/DRLs.
That otter set!!!!! Aww. And I only have one of the 2x2 log plate in the castle in the Forest, so I'd love to have another.

On your next Lego order, go to: 'pick a brick' and look for: 6182435/32647. They are CAD$0.48 so probably around USD$0.35. While you are there, you might also want to look at: 6285623/25406.
Cheers!
The new Stuntz bikes are fine, but the series peak was clearly the bathtub, 60333. I don't know how they'll ever top that.
That Teddy Bear Stunt bike 60356 looks like the stuff of nightmares (and is quite terrifying) - but the otters look like a huge hit...
ATV and Otters, Gaming Truck, Tractor, Digge and Penguin Slushi machine are of my interest.
I'm crazy impressed at how well-priced these sets are! I honestly thought the days of affordable LEGO City sets were over! Glad I was wrong!
Disappointed that the Police Academy set doesn't have a commandant's office with a fish bowl...
it's incredible how City become the new junior (do you really call 60375 "Fire Station"? and 6571 or 6389 what are?), while Friends is the new town / city... another bad year for city :/

Puppy, puppy, puppy.... (continues to scroll down, bored stiff, meh, meh, meh)... OTTER, OTTER, OTTTRRRRRRR!
Police Car Bike Chase is confusingly named.
That is clearly a police bike car chase.
Other than that everything looks pretty decent. Lots of animals at relatively decent prices. Is LEGO finally ending the insane City markup for the US?
Love the Otters! Lots of good sets with new animals & a couple of cute puppies. Plenty that are relatively inexpensive to choose from.

"A man is fleeing from the police in LEGO City! Send the K-9 unit!"
"HEY!"
"Build the Mobile Police Dog Training unit! Train the puppy! And chomp the suspect!"
The "new" garbage truck look a lot like the 4432 garbage truck from 2012.
It looks worse and with lesser details. It lost its mirrors. The person driving should back up with caution because he cant see anything, he can hit the garbage, another vehicle or worse ! XD
The city line is worse every new year now. It regress instead of improving.
Liking the recycling truck and construction digger.
More emergency services? Major yawn...
And when are we going to see the Modular?
Love the Otters set,
but I'm afraid my desire is a bit underwhelmed by the rest of the wave so far
(Apart from that police guy with the padded arms in dog training set)
Excited for that new forklift piece!
My girlfriend loves otters so I'm pretty sure that otter habitat is going to be a purchase at some point! Well played, Lego. Well played.
Have fond memories of playing with 7906 as a kid, 60373 has quite a bit of resemblance but on a smaller scale, and I find that strangely appealing.
60371 is the one set that reaches the golden spot for PPP in America… and it’s the $70 one? Win! Even a lot of the $10 - $20 sets aren’t a raw deal compared to past ones and the recent Marvel mechs. I might get the one with the burning tree and the kitten for the kitten— and to play out burning it alive.
Aside from the otters?
Ugh.
@bnic
I think 60373 is eon ahead of 7906! With 60373 you get to fly a water-carrying jet pack! In the future, jet-packs will be so efficient they will be able to carry water (heavy stuff) for a long range and a long period of time permitting rescue everywhere. These jet packs will most likely also be electric carrying an equally heavy battery.
That said, this set will most likely be cancelled. (sarcon) In it, you can see a 'damsel in distress' being 'rescued' by a human organism which seems to have mostly 'male' characteristics. In the current woke/cancel culture, this is a big no-no and I don't understand this passed through the acceptation committee (maybe I should get myself offended by such a vile and chauvinistic representation). (note that if the opposite is depicted (i.e. human organism with female characteristics rescuing a human organism with male characteristics) , it is acceptable and moreover should be lauded as the way forward.) (/sarcoff)
60374 is at the top of the list. However, it is expensive and will require a lot of modding to look like the typical German Unimog, whether in service as a Rustwagen (rescue truck) or TLF (tanker/brush truck).
I'm surprised LEGO is not giving us a separate ambulance this year, instead (for like what, the third time since the 2012 one was discontinued?) bundling it with a pricey set. And there is just one EMT/Paramedic, as opposed to a team (2012 one, as well as last year's hospital ambulance). Not a big deal, as I really hate how the equipment is just hanging on the sides. You'd think given how LEGO has released so many huge police and fire vehicles, we'd get an ambulance that had room for everything, and ample working room for the paramedics/EMTs. Playmobil can, whether it be a US or German-styled unit. Guess that means I need to finish reengineering the one I built during my TFOL days to have a stronger frame, while still having the same long, six-stud-wide patient compartment it had.
I like that new areas are explored such as police training. On my short list is 60385 and 60390 as I love tractors. 60394 goes very well with 60300 released in 2021. I own 4432 but also like 60386 so maybe I'll have two garbage trucks driving around next year.
Set 60394 ATV and Otter Habitat makes no sense, whatsoever. Why'd you ride you ATV near an otter habitat? What a jerk! I hope the otters also become available in a set with an unnecessary vehicle.
LEGO should release an animal pack, like they used to do with trees and plants. It'll be a surefire hit, because EVERYBODY who builds in the minifigure scale wants to add animals to their builds and MOCs, I'm sure.
So many good new animals available in this at relatively attainable price points! Huzzah!
Construction digger looks like it goes with the Mobile Crane from last year (which is an awesome set), and for that I will probably buy it. Not nearly as cool, but hey bigger construction crew. Gotta do more than just lift road plates.
Huh. Maybe Lego City isn't completely pointless after all. Is that a Lego otter?
But still, where are the Star Wars sets!!! I know there is one in 40615 Tusken Raider, but where's the rumoured Captain Rex helmet, Endor speeder bike diorama and the tie bomber? We've got Ninjago, Marvel, City, Monkie, Friends, Minecraft, Dots and half of the Brickheadz, but where is Star Wars???
The digger is ugly and still uses that stupid middle attachment point for the bucket. The off-road truck looks ridiculous - did someone forget to attach the rubber bands? And is there some sort of competition going on among the designers to make all their sets in colour schemes even more hideous than last year's Friends roller disco arcade?
I'll give them props for the otter. I like the fireboat (even Lego firemen, these days, come with jet packs), and the penguin slushy truck is adorably weir.
Nothing else really grabs me, though. Lego City is very much afflicted with a sense of sameness. It all kind of blurs together after a while. Most of these police and fire sets look very much like the ones from last year, and the year before, and the year before.
60374 Fire Command Truck is nice; asymmetrical front grill of the 60388 Gaming Truck is cool; and the 60386 Recycling Truck is decent.
Otherwise, though, IMHO this range is flat-out embarrassing when compared to the 2023 Friends sets. It looks like late '90s/early '2000s "juniorization" all over again. In fact, that 60775 Fire Station and Fire Truck could easily pass for a Jack Stone set. Yikes.
The German Shepard puppy and Otter’s are instant wins in my book. Also really like the idea of the Police Academy, but the question that should be on everyone’s mind is :
Where are the roads?

Roads? Where we're building, we don't *need* roads.....
That Police Academy could have used an old Honda Civic though....with no front seats.

There's something awfully familiar about all this...
Am I the only one thinking that Friends universe is becoming more realistic, while City simple and childish. Only otters are exciting.
60388.
I'm not saying it's Blacktron...
But it's Blacktron.
I love that Penguin Slushy Van and those otters.
It actually looks like they have doubled down on the road plate system- most of the building baseplates seem to be the same system, but fully studded.
First I saw what they did with the cactus arms in 60369…and then I saw the catapult on the trailer, and I can’t see any possible way that those two things are not related.
60389 is a bit personally ironic for me because someone from my high school graduating class ended up in a wheelchair _because_ he was drag racing. And he apparently kept doing it even after being permanently paralyzed from the waist down.
I kinda want to buy a copy of 60393, and haul it around wherever I go. And then if I ever meet Stephen Cassley (S3 LEGO Masters US), I’ll ask him to autograph it for me.

My thoughts exactly. City seems to slide more Junior every year, especially the buildings.
60372 isn't a Police Training Academy. That is a straight up American Ninja Warrior course (or even Wipeout). Way to avoid licensing fees Lego...
@Kynareth said:

Yeah they're using that new part in many colors and in a lot places. At this point it's not just a road system but a more general modular plate system. Not a development I was expecting but I like it.
BTW, regarding the otters...this isn't the first time they've used that design. 75966 has one. So, you know what this means, right? You can show the spirits of otters, hares, Friends horses, Friends colts, Friends penguins, Maine Coone cats, dolphins, octopi, deer, and spiked hairdos rising out of their dead bodies to haunt the land. Bwahahahaha!
*Ahem* Wow. I don't know what came over me. I must be getting into the Nightmare Before Christmas spirit.
Cyber Stunt driver gives me Unitron Chief vibes
Mobile Police Dog Training is exciting with the dog training suit and dog vest. Plus otters!

nope, it's 6168, but made with lego bricks...
holy crap, even the new duplo fire station 10970 is better than lego one!
60374 caught my eye but it seems really expensive to me for what it is. £40 seems more reasonable, but £50 is a lot to ask.
60388 looks really fun and it's very eye-catching, might be one for me to pick up on discount.
60390 is one I will probably get on release or on discount, it's a really nice little set and more squirrels is good.
60393 is one I might get too, it looks interesting.
Lazy sets as ever in the City line
Worst city line ever. It is not even a city line. These sets are so simple fit only for 3-5 ages. If someone is looking for something to build a city, sholud check Freinds sets.
60388 seemed like an objectively terrible idea, the more I thought about it. I mean, the wheels on the trailer are still embarrassing, but I’m looking at this, and all I see is a company that’s competing with video games making a set about video games that doesn’t play video games. Then I checked the other images, and it turns out there’s a blue sword and two pink fists, so I guess you’re supposed to act out a fighter game by equipping the gamers with the weapons their characters are wielding. So apparently those sit-down consoles are projecting VR into their eyeballs.

Is that a threaded brick on a long screw in 60372? I don't remember seeing that part before!
60371 is odd. Three emergency vehicles in one set is pretty logical considering how City operates, but I can't say I'm into the All-Purpose Emergency Building.
@Andrusi:
Possibly more frequently in smaller communities, Fire Stations in the US usually have EMTs operating out of the same building, since they’re often needed to treat inhalation and burn victims while the rest of the crew is fighting the actual fire. And they do their own investigations into the causes of each fire (something they are uniquely suited to do, vs the regular police force), but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a single instance where PD and FD shared a building. Additionally, in larger communities, there will often be independent ambulance services due to increased demand and improved response time if they are spread out a bit more (just this past week when driving home from work I saw a white ambulance on the way to respond to one emergency drive past a red ambulance that was already responding to a different scene).

PD and FD being in the same building is quite common in smaller communities. The city I grew up in didn't split them into separate buildings until approx. 30 years ago. A neighboring community just built a new government center, which combines Fire, EMS, Police, and village hall functions in different wings of the same building (ironically, after Fire & EMS shared one building and PD & the village hall shared another). My current city has a fire station (fire & EMS) and a police precinct sharing the same building as well.
@DaBigE:
I grew up just outside a resort town with a population that peaked at about 6500 in 1970. The city had a fire station, a local police station, a state police station, and a city hall, all in four separate buildings. The surrounding township (where I lived) also had a town hall (yet another building).
Slushy van and recycling truck will make fine additions to my city layout.
Considering that the Winter wave of City sets is usually (IMO) the less interesting wave, there are some promising sets here. I'm especially happy to see a number of exciting options at the $10 USD price point (Otters! A squirrel! The cat mold in a new color!). The slushy van looks to be a fun addition to the ever-expanding fleet of food trucks TLG has been producing, and I love all of the bright colors in the gaming tournament set and the custom car garage!
