What is your favourite minifigure of 2022?
Posted by CapnRex101,
LEGO produced 950 minifigures and characters during 2022, including Muppets, Na'vi, updated Forestmen and even a bathtub motorcycle racer, among many others!
After over 500 nominations, the sixteen most popular comprise our poll, asking what is your favourite minifigure of 2022? Submit your vote after the break...
Other minifigures which only narrowly missed qualifying for the poll include Marty McFly, the Space Creature Collectable Minifigure and Cad Bane from 75323 The Justifier.
* Three of the four Golden Dragon Ninja received a significant number of votes, although there was little consensus concerning the best of them. For that reason and their relative similarity, we have chosen to include a single option representing all four.
You can participate in our other 2022 polls here:
- What is your favourite theme of 2022?
- What is your favourite set of 2022, costing less than $40?
- What is your favourite set of 2022?
Which minifigure received your vote? Let us know in the comments. The results will be published in the New Year.

NED-B. It's awesome, but I don't want to buy it. For obvious reasons.
I particularly appreciated the Forest Elf this year. It’s a fun and original design that really sparked my imagination. The ideas submission based on it is amazing too!
Aloy. Hairpiece captures the Focus technology in her ear perfectly and has fantastic printing including arm printing
Aloy will likely and deservedly win, but the knight of the yellow castle was my favorite.
The NED-B Loader Droid is my pick. It is awesome. The Swedish Chef, Troubadour, Yellow Castle Knight, and Doc Brown are great, too.
Oh, no inquisitors... :(
Taun We easily, I’ve been waiting 20 years for that figure
The three selected from the CMFs will probably split the Muppet vote. Pity Gonzo didn't make it as I thought it was more detailed than the others. Animal is my vote anyway but I think Aloy will win.
Troubador. Love the fig details, and it's a great character to add to castle builds. Honestly, I need a few more to make a little band.
Vincent Van Gogh... such a beautiful soul, gone too soon.
Troubadour. How long have we waited for a bard minifigure? Decades! And LEGO didn’t disappoint with a new lute piece, recolour of the Forestmen hat and overall charming minifigure.
Aloy!
Aloy, please.
What is the obsession with Commander Cody? He's just a clone trooper with orange detailing.
dwight from office ideas is best
A good year for minifigures
Cheering for Aloy. I wrote a review of how good her minifigure is.
Toss a coin to your troubadour!
I have to give it to Mister Van Gogh, that man suffered a lot and only after his death his work was raised on pedestals.
No baby Benny?
Aloy is the only one I actually have (and it's great!), but my vote goes to Doc Brown.

That’s a 2023 release. This is just a 2022 vote.
Aloy all the way: talk about a magnetic figure, here it is.
I voted for the Troubadour, but it was close with the Forest Elf for me. I have several of the elves with slightly different legs and faces in my city as a sort of nature focused Scout group.

I agree that he is overhyped. While it's great we finally get him, there's nothing that makes him worth figure of the year. I would be more prone to vote for 187th regs if we are doing clones.

Such an amazing year for figs. It’s a tough decision. I went with the fig I bought the most copies of, the Yellow Castle Knight
Has to be Dwight Schrute.
The others are very nice, but the minifigure for Dwight is likely the best recreation in minifigure form of a real human that LEGO ever made. And that's quite an achievement.
I like the Yellow vaguely construction based autonomaton
Off-Topic: Is Brickset planning on releasing a January 1 buying guide that summarizes all the sets releasing? I've seen them in the past, but not sure if it is a recurring thing.

The 2023 champ, i'm calling it now
Golden dragon ninja by far. Incredible detail and you have been able to get them pretty cheaply in sets and in magazines.
Aloy, 100%. From her hair, to her freckles, to her Focus device, to the printing on her arms and the beads around her neck, it's pretty much a perfect minifigure.
I picked Cody, but Dwight is a very close second
If every Sony licensed figure going forward has the level of sheer detail of Aloy...Holy moly, it's gonna be a fun ride.
Would be possible to see the list after the vote too? I voted for Aloy ofc but I have zero idea what are the others talking about.
I was stuck between Commander Cody and Knight of the Yellow Castle. Both great figures.

I Understood That Reference :D
If I had to choose, I’d pick the Grand Inquisitor, Fifth Brother, or Mando from the UCS Razor Crest.
Went with the troubadour largely because I liked how much of a throwback he seemed to be to old school castle
Kermit! I've wanted a Kermit minifigure for years, and the one we finally got does not disappoint!
A close runner-up would be Taun-We. She's fantastic!
A N I M A L - great figure, which as soon as I saw it I had to have it. Great extras for a CMF pack too
The Van Gogh minifigure is very under rated IMO. I'm not even into art but the minifigure has amazing detail and vibrant colors. My favorite things about it is they styled him off of his self portrait and even included the paint lines. That's the coolest minifigure to me.
I thought Kermit looked a little off in photos, but after seeing the figure in person: definitely my vote for this year.
None of these figures are even in my top 10 for the year.
I've been won over by all the compliments Aloy has gotten. Not a minifig I would have come up with by myself, but the best out of the 16. Out of the Muppets, only Beaker could have ranked higher.
Went with Taun We because I’ve been waiting for Kaminoans for years now.
Aloy was close, she is a great all around minifg.

Neither of them gets my vote since Lego screwed up the clone torso and helmet prints so badly.
It would be interesting to know the criteria used to make the poll, for example the Bird-watcher minifigure from series 22 has received more votes (although less comments) than Dwight, but it was the later who was selected.
This was Star Wars year for minifigs. Great and unique minifigs we wouldn’t be getting in any other sets w astounding detail. Cody for the win though I’m a sucker for good clones.

I can’t imagine what your selection would be then.
I still went for aloy but my heart was tempted by Vincent Van Gogh too....
I voted for Commander Cody. It's great they finally made him, and he looks fantastic!
Very hard choice this year - they were too many good figures.
My choice goes to Aloy.
Cody is probably the most desired, for me a close second.
And the muppets are the next runners up, for their fantastic molded heads.
Voted for Doc Brown, since I had nominated him, but I think the Dwight Schrute figure is also perfect, as the facial expressions correspond to the character perfectly.

I just hope we get a Nala Se for some Bad Batch sets soon
No Na’vi? :,(
I went with Aloy in the end, but Van Gogh and NED-B were tempting as well.
Who is Aloy? Sounds like a metal.
I find it so bizarre that the Lego community rails so hard on the juniorized/specialized piece era of the late 90s-early 00s and is quick to cry foul whenever hints of that style return, but then goes absolutely crazy for these ridiculous minifigures with one-use, overly-detailed and style-breaking parts.
Never been big on classic Castle themes, but I'm voting for the Troubadour just for being a mostly normal minifigure unlike the Golden Dragon Ninja, Ned-B, Aloy, and some of these other wannabe 6-inch action figure designs.
With all the CS fans I'm surprised Space Creature didn't even make the first cut.
Went with Kermit. Could so easily have been a disappointment but nailed the look of the most important Muppet ever. Plenty of other fine minifigures to choose from, but Kermit won my heart.
You spelled “Gonzo” wrong…sixteen times!

6: MK074: Monkie Kid - Battle Armor
5: JW095: Rainn Delacourt

The CS fans are wondering why we didn't get a purple Space Person instead of a Creature. ;-)
Aloy is a good figure, but I really like the Forest Elf out of this list.
Out of all the minifigs for 2022, that list is really sad, not any of my favorites, so I voted for Doc Brown, he looks cool.
There are many options other than Dwight Schrute. FALSE, Dwight Schrute is the only option.
Ah...no Fozzy...
I voted for the 'Maintenance Robot' as (1) Nice design, and (2) NOT Star Wars
Came within an eyelash of voting for Kermit, but as noted: no Fozzy...
Aloy gets my vote.
I do recall, surprisingly, how many people had never heard of the Horizon games when the Tallneck was first announced. Therefore, I wouldn't be surprised if this minifigure doesn't win.
Aloy's my 2nd pick, with Knight of the Yellow Castle being my top. Glad to have so many good picks!
Animaaaaal!!!
From this list it's a tie between the Forest Elf and the Golden Dragon Ninjago minifigures, Chose the Golden Dragons in the end because I just love dragons :)
But my favorite minifigure from 2022 really is 71032-7 the Night Protector. The details are so, so, so gorgeous, I love the haircolor and the facial expressions, the accessories are super cool, and my dark fantasy heart is just in love.
I tend to go over the few I have— in this case, it’s Animal and none of the others.

How did they screw up the torso prints? I think I know what you are talking about with Cody's helmet, but I don't remember any poor helmet print for the 187th. I have yet to get those clones so it could also be something noticeable in person.
Mine was “Space Creature”
but as it didn’t quite make the list,
I had to go for “Knight of the Yellow Castle”
I originally suggested Waldorf and Statler, but since those weren't on the list I just had to pick Kermit. At least that was a figure that literally put a smile on my face.
I have to ask the Aloy fans, what's so great about this figure in your opinion? I have that set and figure, and while I agree it looks nice and detailed, I just don't see it as such a great figure overall.
Or that Commander Cody. To me it looks like all the other Clone Troopers. In a pile of figures I couldn't tell one from the other.
At least Taun We is recognizable and would stick out so to speak - quite literally, come to think about it ;-)
@Indy24LA said:

Funny thing is, I almost voted for him, but only because I misread it as "Dwight Schultz".
But then I looked at the figure and thought "that doesn't look like him" and there wasn't an A-Team (or Star Trek) set this year anyway.
Only then I re-read the name and simply thought Dwight who? and moved on. :-)
Aloy for sure, definitely a character I never thought I would see in Lego form, perfect minifig for an underrated franchise.

You just answered your own question. It’s nice and detailed. It’s instantly recognizable.
Animal is the clear winner.
Vincent van Gogh. Vincent's life story is just so sad and I imagine him being presented with his own minifig bringing a smile to his face...
@vzarmo:
"Nice and detailed", sure. "Instantly recognizable" requires familiarity.

Rly? Cody is just a random clone if you are not in to Star Wars. Dr. Strange is just a random guy in a cape if you don’t know mcu or the knight of the yellow castle is just a random minifig in an armor if you are not familiar with the theme Etcetc.

Thank you for giving the night protector some love. I thought it was one of the best CMF figures and that's a high bar. I'm a little disappointed to see how little attention it's received.
@vzarmo:
Yes, but you _HAVE_ heard of Star Wars, the MCU, and the Yellow Castle. Most of the comments on the Horizon sets were asking what Horizon was. This was a one-off set based on a game that, while popular, had very limited overlap with the Brickset crowd. You'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who posts here regularly who doesn't know exactly what "the Yellow Castle" is.
Not on the list, but my favourite minifig of 2022 is Colonel Miles Quaritch.
@Bycougars said:

Lol, you can’t have been waiting twenty years. The Clone Wars only came out a couple of…oh….oh, no!
Aloy for sure.
Snow Guardian but I know he won't win.
I don't really think that's a strong argument, of course characters that you don't know won't be recognizable. Because you don't know them.
Neb-B is a great Minifigure. But the set it came from, 75334: Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Vader, is better and I would go further and say it is the epitome of well designed Lego sets. That and the Black Panther Bust. 2022 blessed us with some truly amazing sets and prices.
Lego is flying high and taking us with them.
Thats Easy one. Aloy.
The robot from SW is really beautiful but is a weak figure. Head and torso molded toghether will always be considered BAD for me
Go Dwight!!! You rule :-)
