When browsing a theme (e.g. Star Wars), while we can narrow our search by filtering based on subtheme, category, year, etc. there are usually still too many sets to comb through. While it is possible to filter by the tags by clicking on the tag of interest and then filtering by theme and subtheme, it would be very useful to have the tags available as a filter option in a drop-down like how subtheme, category, year, etc. are already available. Also, if we could have the list options available as a multi-selectable tick-box type list, then we can choose what we want or don't want to see in the results (e.g. Star Wars > starfighter tag > exclude microscale, exclude microfighter, exclude UCS) if we only want minifig scale playable starfighters.

Just like minifigures with the function where if you own the set but it's missing it's minifigures or your missing some of them etc it's good there's a flag box which doesn't add the minifigure to your collection. It would be great if we had something similar for parts. If there was a way we could select the pieces we don't own. For example if you say you don't own a minifigure at all in a particular set, if you go to the sets part list it says you do own the parts of the minifigure but when in reality you don't. It would be nice to remove what you don't own. Saves lying, and so your parts collection is more accurate. But not just minifigure parts, all parts in general if your missing particular pieces from a certain set.

When I first joined Brickset, there was a daily Featured Set of the Day. They were written by users and were posted on the main stream. I never knew how they were chosen, but I decided that I wanted to write one. But then they disappeared. I know it wasn't because of Storage Solutions, because those replaced the User Interviews. I just hope that one day, Featured Set of the Day will return, just simple reviews of treasured sets by users every day.

Brickset comment: Submissions dried up towards the end which is the only reason we stopped publishing them. If you, or anyone else, wants to write one then please send to [email protected] and when there's enough I'll start it up again.

More granularity would be nice for ranking sets more accurately.
For example set A with a rating of 3 and set B with one of 2, then you try to rank set C between those two. You don't like / enjoy set C as much as A, but clearly more than set B. Then you are stuck between giving set C a rating of 2 or 3.
This is effectively the same as /10, which isn't perfect but doesn't limit you as much as /5, and it's good enough for most cases.

I would love the ability to create wanted lists for specific purposes that I could send to someone. My current wanted list includes many expensive and retired sets that I wouldn't want to include if I was providing a Christmas/Birthday wish list to a non-AFOL. With a separate list, I could select a few sets that I know the person could easily buy, and that I know not to buy myself. (And Brickset can add affiliate links for them to purchase the sets!)

So right now all you can do is see a handful of members who have a similar number of sets, minifigures, and brick count as you and you can view their collection. But wouldn’t it be cool to see actual similar collections. You would need to come up with some sort of algorithm based on size, similar theme interests, and matching sets and minifigures. Perhaps you award 10 points for each matching set you own, and 5 points for each matching minifigure. Then for themes, perhaps 1 point for each set in a particular theme based on the member with the fewest sets. Finally you could award bonus points based on similar collection sizes, maybe 25 points if the number of sets, bricks, or minifigures is within a 10% range.

This would be a great way to see what other sets someone else has that you may want, and if you can message them, a great way to build Lego friendships.

I want to print out pictures and some selected fields all the parts I own, so I can label the boxes that they are in. It would be good to be able to select which fields to print as well.

At the moment the limit per website page is 200 elements. Which for me means at least 42 different prints.
Would also be great to export the list to a word file as well.

Some sets have multiple entries , for example 7000 and 5950 for the boxed / polybag version or 891 and 442 for European / US version . They are essentially the same set but the collection analysis treats it as different making the Owned/Not Owned numbers "wrong".

Product collections are already excluded from the total and it could be more accurate if one owns a set, the identical other set gets excluded from the "Not Owned" number.

Another website recently popped up here in the states, but isn't as good as brickset.com - One feature they do have is putting in the price you paid for a set. It adds to the algorithm to track the prices being paid by users of the site, which is great as a real time evaluation of what the price of a set should be. So when you buy something at retail, or later on ebay, you can track what you paid for the set. I do this in a separate excel sheet so I know when I bought it, and for how much, and see about savings I had or how much I have been spending within the year. GASP! :) But I feel this would be an excellent addition to tracking sets.

Brickset comment: You can add this in the Advanced Collection Manager and soon I will make better use of that data.

There were some articles from a few years ago called ‘What’s Missing?’, which were a look back on what was missing in the LEGO Star Wars line (e.g Geonosian Arena, TIE Bomber)

However, there haven’t been any for The Last Jedi, Solo, The Rise of Skywalker, The Mandalorian or even the Expanded Universe! I would very much like to see your thoughts on these projects. In addition, given it’s been a few years since then, why not remake the other lists and include Clone Wars Season 7 and Rebels 3-4?

After Star Wars, similar articles could be used for the MCU, DCEU or Harry Potter. Just a thought.

Brickset comment: We'll look at resurrecting them early next year once the busy shopping/Advent/news period has ended.

It would be nice to have if you could add an achievement function.
So if you have collected all the Bounty Hunter from the Star Wars theme, for example, you are the "Bounty Hunter Collecotor" or "Congratulations - you have collected all of the Star Wars-themed Bounty Hunters".

Furthermore, it would be nice if you could be shown which sets/figures you would still be missing for a certain Achiements.

More examples would be:
.) You have successfully collected your first 100 / 500 / 1.000 figures.
.) WOW... impressive - you've added your first set/minifigure to your inventory
.) You own over 10.000 / 50.000 / 100.000 parts
.) All Darth Vaders
.) All (Clone-, Storm-, FO-) Troopers
.) All Jedi/Sith
.) All Minifigs of the year 1999
.) All Minifigs of The Hobbit / TLOR Theme
.) You own all dwarves ("Thorin and Company")

To coincide with the suggestion of a "Pictures only" view, I suggest the ability to generate a custom view as this would cover multiple needs without having to add every possible combination to the menu. Current views are: List, Gallery, Table and CSV, the "Custom" option would be adjustable from within "Site Preferences" and would allow allow to to create a custom view by toggling view items on/off. For example:

Custom view options:
Layout: List / Grid
Picture: On / Off
Set Name: On / Off
Checkboxes: On / Off
Tags: On / Off
Notes: On / Off
etc.

Brickset comment: This would be great, and one day I may well implement something like it.

First off, it's one of those things where it can be a bit too easy to click a button by accident or on cruise control. Case in point, it happened to me a moment ago with the swear filter suggestion (I think such filters are foolhardy and cause more trouble than they're worth, and thus do not support it, but I clicked it on cruise control because I was trying to show agreement with the administrator's rebuttal and now I can't undo it).
Second, people sometimes re-evaluate their opinion.

The benefit is that suggestions will not gain illegitimate support from these mistaken clicks, and that members will be allowed to change their minds.

I can see support for an App above, but I know this takes time, effort and updating and for multiple platforms. My basic need for an App is two fold, when out and about, and it's Mainly, a, Have I got it, B, do I want it (and is it a good price if I see it on sale)

I have added my Support for an App, but I think a 'Lite' app, may be easier to make, as I only want to see my very basic info about my own collection and very basic info on sets.

When coming back from shopping I add my new sets to my collection and ACM data are long to update, even with copy/paste, that many fields will have the same value. If you buy a set used and incomplete, it's nice to know if you've finished completing it - but that doesn't have any correlation to if it's built or not. Likewise, I might buy a set without the minifigs but acquire them later on - the set is still Incomplete until then, even if I've built it.

I sometimes wish to, for example, find parts that have certain tags and are one of a couple different colors. Adding queries for parts would allow users to have more options when searching for parts, including (but not limited to) allowing for “or” statements and comparing the parts’ statistics (such as quantity owned) to set values.

There is usually one creator 3 in 1 set per year that has a “secret” official fourth model. There have been a couple brick lists to try to do this but they have become abandoned and outdated. I think a tag would be a better choice.

This is just an annoyance more than anything and should be an easy fix. When going through my wish list, and updating with what I’ve purchased. I hate having to deselect the wanted option, when I click the owned option. This should automatically deselect.

There should be another view besides List, Gallery and Table (and CSV) - a pure picture view ... a kind of "correct" gallery view. Only pictures with set number and name.

Basically, you could also design this feature so that there is a checkbox "only pictures" in the two existing views with picture (List and Gallery). Just to hide the rest.

There are allot of different types of LEGO Boxes/Packaging and the three types I know from Brickset: Box, Polybag and Foilpack.
Usually I want to know the size of a Set box when researching it and the dimension on Bricklink aren't that intuitiv/helpfull.
It would be nice to know what size a Set Box has and maybe get a reference for it out of your own collection or wanted list.

Some Examples:

The thumb tag Box: 42112: Concrete Mixer Truck, 75286: General Grievous's Starfighter, 75276: Stormtrooper, ...
*The thin thumb tag Box: 21156: BigFig Creeper and Ocelot, 75267: Mandalorian Battle Pack, 42102: Mini CLAAS XERION, ...
The folded taped Box: 75288: AT-AT, 75292: The Razor Crest, 42099: 4x4 X-Treme Off-Roader, ...
The (interlocking) Flap Box: 21303: WALL-E, 21313: Ship in a Bottle, 21314: TRON: Legacy and 40413: Mini Robots, ...
The Cake Box: 42115: Lamborghini Sián FKP 37, 42083: Bugatti Chiron, 42056: Porsche 911 GT3 RS, ...

*The thin thumb tag box might be unassay distinction because at a certain size the boxes just have the thin carboard.
The Flap, Pizza and Cake Box are quite similar. The Flap Box has that part that reaches around and goes in,
the Pizza Box is/was that nice sturdy Box you could dump all Parts into when building,
and the Cake Box has separate top and bottom halves that usually have that very satisfying fit.

I am sure there are more types of Boxes especially in the earlier days and better names for them too.
One that comes to my mind is the display Box that I only know one Set for: 8287: Motor Box.
This is just a list of Sets that I know have different box types. Probably because I am a little box hoarder and
think more about them them some others.

Brickset comment: Wow, that's a level of detail I never thought anyone would find interesting or useful!

An added complication to this requirement is that box types vary by region. In Europe most of our small- and medium-sized boxes are 'thumb tag' but the same sets are often packed with tape seals for the North American market.

I welcome your suggestions as to how we could gather this information, particularly for older sets.

I would appriciate if you would add the ACM data, espc. prices paid + S+H, to the "collection valuation" sheet. Presently it shows only the RRP but not prices paid by owners. Some sets like polybags or never-sold intended items (GWP's) do not show a RRP. But if owners prices paid are visible user can see the growth of his special collection in total.

To avoid problems that turn up whenever Huw publishes an articles written by someone else (inevitably, a few commenters mistakenly believe that Huw actually authored it), can there be a new generic author name for them? E.g., "Brickset Community," "Community Contribution," etc. That should hopefully eliminate the confusion. Huw's introduction could then go in a shaded box at the start, or something similar to stand out.

Huw usually points out to a mistaken commenter that they need to go back and read the introduction, but I doubt anyone intentionally skips it. It just doesn't stand out from the rest of the piece, and some people are obviously skimming or reading fast and missing the context it provides.

Right now when someone comments on an article, their comment just goes down to the bottom, regardless of whether they are replying to someone or submitting their own original comment.

I feel that if replies appeared below the original comment, not only would you not need to quote the original author, but it would lead to better and easier to follow conversations. In fact it may even lead to more conversations and allow us to interact with each other on a more personal level.

Brickset comment: It's a good idea and one I have considered from time to time. One reason I haven't done it is that it makes it pretty much impossible to read every comment, so there are pros and cons to consider.

Brickset comment: This is not currently possible because at any one time, not everyone's minifig collection is known. It only exists when they are using the site. This is to prevent the need to store gigabytes of data unnecessarily.

Like most avid fan communities, Lego users have created a fair number of specialized acronyms, nicknames and words. This “language” helps us to quickly and accurately describe parts, building techniques, events, groups, and other aspects of our fandom. Even our self-defining term, AFOL, is an acronym that few outside of the hobby would understand. But newbies to the hobby could quickly get lost while reading an article or a forum post without some guide to help them. I propose a simple page that lists a number of these terms and acronyms along with their definitions to be used as an “Urban Dictionary” for Lego. The page could be “written” by the community itself through the use of a poll to gather the terms that should be included along with the definitions of said terms.

Please change the way LEGO sets are sorted in Bricklists. Currently you have to click sets up and down step by step and cannot jump. Instead of up / down arrows, sorting using a dropdown with numbers would be better so that newly added sets can be placed at the beginning of the Bricklist with just one click. That would be great!

With the option to view 5 random sets, why not make it so that you could have a search with all the tags, so you could make it only pick 5 random sets with the dinosaur tag, or 5 random set that include Luke Skywalker? I think this would be a cool system to put in place, and it could work for the random minifigures as well.

View of the set-pictures for a set: If I select the pictures for the set in large view and want to click through them, the privacy button is always in the immediate vicinity of the "Next" button for the next picture, because the picture boxes arrange themselves after 1-2 pictures at the bottom of the screen. That's really bad :(

Possibly helps to always center the image box or a kind of fullscreen image view.

-> Simply a possibility to look at the pictures quickly, clearly and in large size within the set. The separation of the main picture and "other" pictures is basically also suboptimal.

Pinch to zoom must also be used better than zooming the whole website right away.

My site uses the API to gather data about the sets I own so I can display my collection and associate custom data with what Brickset provides. This includes ACM data for all sets I've collected post-Dark Age.

In API v2, ACM data was available so I could pull data on when I acquired each copy of a set, its current status (MISB, built, or parted out), how much I paid for it and so on. In API v3, this data is no longer exposed. I'm presuming it's because it was underused back in v2 — Huw, you'd probably be able to ascertain this.

However, my site relies on this data for personal use and I'm not keen on having to enter the same data manually twice now (once on Brickset's ACM and once in my personal database). I appreciate that it's not trivial to implement ACM in the new API but I would greatly appreciate if that could be done.

If mass update is tricky to implement, to accelerate data manual input, define as parameters some fields defaults, e.g. if you often buy from the shop "Acquired from/Condition when acquired/Condition now" are always "lego.com/MISB/MISB". You leave the parameters fields empty if you do not want to use the functionality.

I think it would be very cool to create a Lego wiki for bricksetters. It would be great to have information on themes, or exclusives, or Lego designers, or...

A few months ago there was a series of articles on Star Wars aliens that appear as minifigures, combining these articles would make an excellent wiki article, and would allow users to update it whenever new aliens get released.

Obviously all of this is available now in data form, but it would be cool to have a written history of these topics. By making it a wiki, it would be user maintained so shouldn’t be too much additional work for Huw. Perhaps it could be setup where trusted reviewers could make changes without need for approval, and would be allowed to approve changes made by others.

Would be nice to see more than just the American and British names of sets in the boxes and maybe improve search for those who don't know the English name or set number. How many or which languages are shown might be set in members' preferences. Would need some volunteers with reference material (catalogues - some were multilingual) but I think it would expand the consciousness for a truly global community when you can see set names in different languages - also might make members from around the world feel more inclusion!

I like to browse all the sets but it seems as if you have to select on one specific theme or year and can’t just browse all sets and then add a filter if you would like/ multiple filters (such as seeing 2+ different themes). i ask this because today i use this for my own personal collection, but i also purchase many lego sets for friends kids and relatives as birthday and christmas presents. it would be nice if i could list those as seperate collections per recipient and keep them all under my one logonid. i have started to do this already today, but having to create a new id and account for each one is cumbersom and time consuming having to logoff and on for whichever one i want to update.
so what i am really requesting is MySets will still be exactly what it is today, but let there be the ability to have a list of named sets under a single account.

I like the fact that summaries were added to reviews. However, I feel that they should be at the end of a review.

I might be alone on this, but, I'd much rather read a review of a set, and then see the summary of the highlights and lowlights that the reviewer thought pertinent. With the summary being at the start of the review, I personally, am less likely inclined to actually read it.

Would this request be something the site admin might consider?

It would be nice if this suggestions page supported comments on each suggestion. For example, I wanted to make a suggestion that there be a way to search for all parts which have no tags, which I would made as a comment on the suggestion to support filtering by excluding tags (since it is a nice extra to that feature, since one implementation would be to have a button that simple searches for something excluding all known tags).

As another example, on the suggestion for including sizes / dimensions of some sets, you posted a comment asking for ideas on how to get that information, but I don't see a way to respond with those kind of suggestions. My first thought would be to see if it is possible to estimate the dimensions based on a 3D model of the set (at least for those which have models).

While It's easier and faster to login using username and password only, it's be a huge security upgrade to add the option to enable or disable a two factor authentication (2fa for short) as many other websites or platforms use it or have been adding it through the recent years.

There are some options, using an alphanumeric code (like steam or many platforms), "accept" or "dismiss" buttons, like google has the option, or a QR code like discord.

When there are missing parts in a set, the set shows an indicater that it is not complete.

At this moment I solve this by adding 2 new flags to my sets (Parts missing, checked and complete)

Now that the 'Sets Collection Valuation' page is available and lists in both New and Used categories I was wondering if it's possible to have any sets that are marked as built automatically changed from new to used so the valuation is then corrected.
It was something that crossed my mind after looking through my collection and realising that despite building a load of sets, they are still listed in my collection as new.
I'd always taken the tags to be the difference between purchase options so I could differentiate between buying boxed sets or sets that were second hand and never changed the tags away from that but technically, even though a set was purchased new, this isn't true after it's been built.
I realise this won't be for everyone but maybe if a check box was added on the members profile settings so they can opt to do this is they want to to keep the valuations closer to correct (especially if the listing is used for insurance values).

Instead of having every Robin figure be listed under one minifigure name, I think it would be better to separate them into Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, and Damian Wayne. So the dick grayson figures would include nightwing, etc. I feel like this would be easier to utilize.

I think it would be great if collectors could see the total value of their minifigure collection, based on Bricklink prices which are already displayed on each minifigures' information page.

An option could be added for the user to input whether each minifigure they own is used or new and then the overall value of the collection could be calculated more accurately. Perhaps the collection value could also have a theme filter so its possible to see how much all of the owned minifigures from each theme are worth?

In addition, a table breakdown that shows all individual owned minifigures' current values would be brilliant and would save having to look up each minifigure individually to find this information out.

Another idea for those mad about statistics: graphs could be added to demonstrate how the individual minifigure values have fluctuated over time.

As the collectability of many minifigures is constantly changing, i think this would be a really useful tool for us all :)

I think it would be intresting to have reviews of things not normally covered a parent reviewing duplo, or an adult doing the same or an educator reviewing the specific sets designed for them. Same would apply for mobility challenged or parents of behavioral challenged individuals.

I get that anyone can review but however highlighting them or sponsoring them and putting in news feed would draw in crowds outside normal sources (Parents & Educators) and might increase awareness and diversity as well as be intresting...

For reviews of licensed products, e.g. Star Wars, Marvel etc. in which the set is based on a source material, having a still from the source material would really enhance the product reviews.
This is especially the case with mini figures for example, and would really help get points across to the readers when discussing niche things (e.g an updated print of Darth Vaders torso for example).
I regularly find myself in a separate tab searching pictures of the source material and clicking back and forth to compare things like that- so having it in the article would be awesome!

I'm aware that there are all sorts of copyright rules around using things such as movie still (though I'm not clued up on specifics)- and I had long thought that this was the main reasoning- but the recent 'Malevolent Minifigures!' article (from CapnRex101 on 14/03/2020) used plenty of live action stills, which got me wondering why similar stills can't be used in product reviews?

As I've added new checkboxes to track different things about my collection, the list would be better suited in a different order. However, the only way (that I know of) to change the order of the list would be to go through every item on the list and uncheck it...and then re-check it for another list while also unchecking stuff from that list and then re-checking it on the original list. As you can see, this would be a huge pain for any list with more than a handful of items. If I could simply re-order the lists, it would save a ton of time and effort. (On the back end, you could either track someone's preferred list order OR have a procedure do all the dirty work of changing the item status.)

Implement a field or fields where one or more closely associated GWPs related to a set can be linked. For example, The Barad-Dur page could indicate that Fell Beast was its GWP and the newest Death Star page could indicate that the TIE Fighter was its GWP. Currently this is placed in the notes of the GWP, but I do not think it is noted on the main set page. And, if I search for Barad-Dur the search results include Fell Beast, probably because it is the Fell Beast notes. So, this feature is partially there, just very informally and kind of only in one direction. For both pages, having a more explicit field for this would probably be helpful.

I have a collection of about 85,000 parts, and stored them in accordance with Design number (not necessary Element number). For physical smaller parts and where I have a smaller quantity, I keep all colours together. For others I might split between greys and colours etc. Through to some like 1x2 plates that I seperate by colour. I use 12 compartment storage boxes.

I really I would like to know the quantity I own of a Design number rather than Element.

If this could be combined with the volume of a part I could calculate the size of storage required easily.

I’m someone who uses the wanted list feature a lot, and as such I’m very happy about the new prioritizing feature. However, this makes for another issue that I have already previously encountered. I always like to see all sets from a certain theme being put after one another when sorting them. Usually this can be done by sorting them by theme or subtheme, but when I go and sort them by year released or the new priority feature, everything with the same tag (year or priority, in this case) gets first put together but will then be sorted by their set number.

My idea to address this issue is rather simple: I think being able to add a secondary ‘sort by’ filter after selecting the first one would fix this. So for example: you first select ‘sort by priority’ so that everything with the same number on the priority list will be placed with each other, and then you can select ‘sort by subtheme’ which will put all sets from the same theme and same spot on the priority list together. You could also do this with ‘year released’ as primary sorting option and ‘priority’ as the secundary, for example.

It might also be handy to make a tertiary and maybe even a quaternary sorting option while you’re at it, for people who have a very big number of sets on their wanted list from i.e. the same year or theme.

Brickset comment: It sounds as if it could get complicated for an edge use case!

Don't forget you can create queries and specify as many fields to sort by as as you like which, while not so convenient, might meet your needs.

I enter all my sets as I buy them. Then when I open them I have to decrement the New field and increment the Used field.

It would be nice if a single right arrow button did this for me. I'm using ">" in this text-based proposal, but could be a glyph. And for ease of undo probably a "<" button as well but also fine if not there.

E.g:

Press ">"

New Used
0 < > 1

I know the design is a little opaque, but nothing a tooltip hint can't solve and separating New from Used is an advanced feature anyway.

We have a lot of minifig tags at brickset and they are useful. I suggest to create separate tags category, which may include categories below (one dash equals one category):

- short / medium / standard legs; dress piece; unstandard bottom piece
- dual molded left / right arm
- dual molded left / righ leg
- triple molded legs
- printed left / right arm
- printed left / right leg
- sideprinted left / right leg
- unstandard left / right arm
- unstandard left / right hand
- unstandard left / right leg
- unique headmold
- e.t.c

Each minifig will be able to contain one tag from each category. Completing this will take time, but may prove very useful in the future.

To help improve the browse experience across multiple sets, it would be great if we had an option in our user profiles that lets us "jump to" the tab of set pages we are most interested in directly from list pages. The allows us to avoid having to open a set's page, then select the tab of interest each time. The "jump to" option would bring us immediately to the related feature/tab of a set that we use most frequently.

Within our user profiles, the option would allow us to select from options such as "parts list", "description", "prices", "video reviews", etc - whatever options are most-used after viewing a main set page.

After being selected, the option would appear as a new link - either in the directly in the list page or within a set's "zoomed in" highlight box - alongside each set's number/theme/year buttons. (i.e. with a label such as "View parts", or "View prices")

When the option is not set, by default no extra link is added, so only it is only displayed by those who set the value and understand their own context for their most-used set page feature.

There are quite a number of sets which include others: set collections (e.g. pack of 3 sets in a larger box, sold under a single sku), 'full series cmf' (containing all cmfs), dimensions starter kits (all include the parts pack). Possibly others that I have not run into yet.

I don't tick the separate ones as 'owned' because in my eyes that's database pollution; if I tick the 'full series 16' which has 'contains these 16 sets' as an attribute, I should not need to tick the 16 separate minifigs as well - why else is the 'full series' entry there?

That does however mean the 'total set' counter is not accurate because it does not take the included sets into account.

Not ticking the separate starter parts pack for dimensions means the collection analysis does not show 100% for the dimensions theme, so that part of the site should also take this relation into account.

Maybe sets can be marked owned through that relationship, just like you have parts and minifigs that you either have thanks to a set, or separately in your collection.

What you would want to do with the 'may contain' relation (in the case of a closed cmf blind bag), I don't know...

Brickset comment: I understand your request and why it could be desirable for some, but it's not that simple to implement and please everyone, unfortunately.

Say, for example, you mark that you own a 'complete set' of series 1 minfigures and that as a result the 16 minifigs in it were marked as owned. Do you then own 16 sets, or 17?

The 'complete set' entries are primarily for those that don't want their set collections inflated by individual figures.

I would like to suggest if and where possible the collection valuation screen to be improved by letting members add in the price we actually paid for the sets we own, this could be in addition or replace the MRP price for the set.

This will help members better assess their current investments in Lego sets by showing more accurate the gains and losses on what was originally paid for the set.

I really hope you would/ could consider this in future enhancements of the website.

I structured my Excel list as follows:

5.) Purchasing price paid including shipping (€ 80) which is determined by the user in his inventory
6.) Value according to the actual retail price Bricklink (EU) first / second or cheapest NEW price (€ 110.00)
7.) Value according to the actual retail price Bricklink EU first USED "good condition" or cheapest NEW price (€ 109.00)
8.) Average of both prices (€ 109.50)
9.) Average value - Purchasing price = increase in value (€ 29.50)
10.) Sum of the value - quantity * average of both prices (€ 109.50)

Since it is an Excel file, I have been asking myself for some time how I keep points 6 & 7 up-to-date without constantly determining the value of my 990 figure collection on bricklink. As a 3-time father and husband, it is very difficult to have the time or understanding of my family.
Although there is nothing more important to me than my family - to clarify briefly, in case I have given a wrong picture.

Then there would also be an increase in the value of a figure. That you set a purchase price in the inventory, which you can create on your website. Its own actual purchase price for a figure, as mentioned in my point 5.).
This would then result in an increase in value (point 9). And also another opportunity to see the total value of your collection.

Idea for an app:
.) Image recognition function. The app accesses the mobile phone camera and scans the mini figure. The bricklink database searches for the parts that have been scanned and assigns head accessories, head, torso and legs to an actually existing figure. Or then finds the figure for the parts that were scanned. -> Then a forwarding link form the figure to bricklink / Amazon / Ebay… á la "invest now"- button
.) Forecast function - factors such as popularity, availability and rarity - in short: "supply and demand" - which are also subject to further fluctuations during its life cycle: introduction, market saturation, EOL follows the final collector's value ... Then there may be a remake of one Figure, which could also change the collector's value again ...
-> Performance table in line chart form. All existing sales values from the past and its de-/increases.
-> Data from actual sales figures according to Bricklink
-> daily current value
.) Ability to create an account and record your collection / inventory.
? Share with friends, compare
.) Wanted list for minifigures / sets

I would like to suggest creating a section dedicated to the most expensive and important minifigures and sets, depending on the market, maybe one of us owns one of these and doesn't know he has a small capital in his hands. clearly a list where inside there were the first 50/100 boxes and rarer minifigures or even more .... then to give the possibility to know the list of who owns more sets and pieces in the bricklink family ... , not the names but how many and which sets have the top rankings, now you can only look at the ones near your position. lean would help a little competition. create a page dedicated to their collections with photos of their own MOC creations.

I'm using all 8 collection checkboxes and could use another. (...and after that, probably another later.) Can the number be increased to 15 for those that want/need them?

For the record, these are my current categories (which are not in the best order and I'd like to rename, but that's already another suggestion...):
* Sold / Traded / Gone - I use this to mark sets I used to have at one point. These are not marked as "Owned" anymore, but I like to be able to be reminded that I once have it. (Saves me from saying, "Did I forget to mark that as owned? ...or did I sell it?"
* Mint in Sealed Box - Someone else suggested an "Intact" flag...and this is similar since I use it for stuff that is still sealed. I've started to transition stuff to "New" and "Used" markings, but haven't finished going through all the sets yet. (Honestly, I don't recall what's still sealed and will need to do a full inventory.)
* Brother / Niece - These are sets I got for my brother and/or niece. I use it to track what they have for help with gifting...also to remember which sets were part of our layout as kids, but are now at my brother's house.
* Ordered - Anything here is temporary, but I flag something when I order it and before it arrives. Helpful for those LONG backorders.
* Currently Assembled - It's built. Obviously.
* Basement - Most of my sets are in the basement, so I've marked those as such. Anything not marked with this is somewhere else in the house. (Likely my son's play room, my office, or my wife's office.)
* Wife's Set - I have these marked as "Owned" since they're in the house, but these are ones I bought for my wife or she has otherwise claimed as hers.
* Verified - With a large collection, some of the older ones were based on memory. They're marked here if they have been inventoried.

I'll be able to clear out some of these (MISB & Verified) once I do a full inventory, but I'll immediately use one of those for "Son's Set" and another for "Missing Pieces". ...and with all of these full, I'm also not able to use the "Minifigs Missing" option. (I don't have many of those though.)

So, yeah, anyway... TL;DR = more checkboxes please!

In my professional life, I’m an architect and project manager. My suggestion comes from my professional experience managing projects and budgets.

Summary: I would like to see a revision to the “Value” tool, to allow user/owners to track the % value increase or decrease. For instance:

1. Keep the retail cost function as-is. This number should match the pre-tax cost on Lego.com. This is the cost baseline.

2. Add a user-input field for date of purchase. This may vary from the release date, but would allow user/owners to track date of purchase.

3. Add a user-input for ‘purchased cost’. The user/owner can input their own pre-tax cost. This would allow the user/owner to track any difference from the Lego.com cost. (Example: if a set was on sale on Lego.com for $40, but there was a 20% off Black Friday sale, and the user/owner purchased the set for $32 (before tax), the purchased cost savings can be tracked by the owner).

4. Add a calculated value for “Value Gain/Loss”: Subtract the retail cost from the current market/street/eBay estimated value. (Will be a positive or negative number).

5. Add a calculated value for “Value Gain/Loss Percent”: Divide the retail cost into the current market/street/eBay estimated value to determine a % gain or loss.

My wife and I have a 2-year old son, and I hope one day he will play with all of my collection (currently sealed, new in box). However, if he (unfortunately) isn’t as into Lego as I am, this will equip me to sell those sets in a few years, and track my investment.

I own 75053 The Ghost, and the database automatically assumes that it comes with the rare sw0577 Kanan Jarrus - Black Hair and Eyebrows, when if fact my copy has the common sw0602 Kanan Jarrus - Dark Brown Hair and Eyebrows. Would it be possible to somehow select which version is actually owned?
I understand that minifig information comes from Bricklink, but I'm hoping that something can be done on Brickset's side.

One of my most common actions in Brickset is to view the parts of a set. I normally view set parts as a table, but need to load the Parts tab, then use the "view as parts in table", then sort by quantity or the number of sets the part appears in. This works but gets tedious when I do it very often. The new "unique parts" and "rare parts" views are handy, but I do like to see the entire list for set. Others may have different preferences.

What would be great would be to have a "Show set parts first as..." setting in our user profiles that would alter the behaviour of what is shown first when selecting the Parts tab for a set - the normal list, or jump right to the table or inventory views or to BrickLink.

Bonus feature: would be to even have default options for those views: as gallery or knolled, sorted by quantity, design appearing in sets, etc.

Ever since I was a kid, I've thought retractable landing gear in Lego sets is just about the coolest thing ever. It would be nice if there was a tag for it: every airplane, helicopter, or spaceship in every theme that has retractable landing wheels or retractable landing legs. I guess I could probably make a bricklist and then the tags could be added based on that bricklist for now, but I wouldn't want to have to maintain that bricklist indefinitely in order for every relevant new set to get the tag.

Is it possible to order (and output) set parts lists by size and colour like Lego do in their instruction manuals? Personally I find this a much easier way of ordering and visualising a set, especially when putting together a set from owned/bought parts. I'm assuming that each part has a nominal size related to it which is how it is ordered on the back of the instructions. I've never found the process of 'Bricklinking' a mid to large set very easy, this would help easily compare your list of owned and wanted parts against the instructions. Thanks Huw.

When looking at your wanted set list, you can use the year drop down to show just those sets from the selected calendar year. You can then use the two blue year links on either side at the top (and bottom) of the list, to jump a year forward or back easily. Where it screws up though is when you hit a year that has no wanted sets. It just throws a "No sets found" message, but the blue year links to jump to the next go away. Then you gotta go back a page, X out on the year, pick the next following year you have wanted sets, before you hit another empty year, then back and X out again, and so on. Those two blue year links to jump ahead or back, should be at the there regardless on whether the year shows a null value for the amount of sets wanted. To make it easier to sort by year and jump around as desired. This is a simple quality of life fix, that would make it vastly easier and less frustrating to navigate your wanted list while looking at sets per calendar year.

Hello there,

I suggest adding Price Per Weight (PPW) to the set details for comparison to Price Per Piece (PPP). Please read on to understand why.

While watching a Lego YouTuber last night, they compared the weights of four sets, all having varying piece counts, but all had the same retail price of $30 USD. The weights were all relatively close to one another, with the 2nd highest piece count set (276 pieces at 311 grams: 9.6c per gram) weighing in at the lowest weight. That being said, this could arguably make the lowest piece count set (166 pieces at 324 grams: 9.3c per gram) a "slightly" better value when compared to the 2nd highest piece count set, if going by Price Per Weight.

Let's take the 75192 UCS Millennium Falcon and compare that to the largely criticized PPP 75252 UCS Imperial Star Destroyer. BrickLink shows 75192 being 13,150g, and 75252 being 12,480g. 75192 would be 6.0c per gram, and 75252 would be 5.6c per gram. Whereas the PPP for 75192 shows 10.6c, and for 75252 shows 14.6c. In my opinion, the PPW is a better comparison to understanding the retail cost than PPP. Compare those to the aforementioned sets from the YouTube video, and both UCS sets could be viewed as a better value if referring to PPW.

PPW actually makes a lot of sense to me, in that from a manufacturing standpoint, more material would cost more to produce. Not only from a material standpoint, but also the molds produced to create the larger parts, and so on and so forth. Price Per Piece is okay, but it doesn't show the whole picture, and I feel there is a stigma behind it.

It looks like some of the work may have already been done, with BrickLink showing the weight of each set. Not sure if EVERY set has a weight assigned to it on BrickLink, but the several I have looked into do.

Price Per Weight (PPW) would be an interesting comparison to PPP.

I have made a few bricklists mainly for my own use, and I intend to make more. However, I find it mildly monotonous to switch between a tab where you have set numbers, to entering them. I am aware you can also click "add this set to a bricklist" but, for sets that generally aren't associated together in the database that I want to put on my bricklists, I need to search up each individual set. Now, what I am suggesting won't solve that problem, but it will solve a few other ones. You may read this and think me stupid because I don't know there actually is (pause for emphasis on "is") a way to do this, but I am unaware of it, but I digress. I am suggesting that there is a way to select multiple sets from the database at once and add them all to a bricklist, or do some other action, such as in Gmail. Brickset does a great job and I am a daily visitor to the site - please keep up the good work! I am sorry if this is already answered somewhere else, but I have tried to trawl through the suggestion lists and faqs, experimented with ACM, but no luck yet.
I have created a 'Still Intact' collection checkbox flag, which is useful. What would be really useful would be to be able to view (and export to csv) the parts from the 'still intact' sets separately from my whole collection, which would let me know what bricks I have available for MOCs etc. Many thanks.

#483: Greater Minifigure Categorisation Consistency

There is currently a great deal of inconsitency across the minifigure subcategories. A common issue is where a "General" subcategory exists, many minifigures seem to be automatically put in there as opposed to the specific (existing) subcategory they should be in. (Examples I've spotted here being the Harry Potter and Holiday categories.)
Also, there are some categories where the sub-categorisation is inconsistent, for example in Star Wars most of the films get there own subcategory but the Original Trilogy is all lumped in together.
I realise this is probably a quirk in bricklink's data rather than anything native, but I thought I'd flag it up just in case something could be done about it

Brickset comment: This is frustrating but we are at the mercy of BrickLink, I'm afraid. We could add our our categorisation but that would be a lot of ongoing effort.

Currently started to use the feature "Add set to a BrickList" but noticed that when I add some sets in new BrickList when I visit my collection and reach the set which is added in BrickList the name of the list is missing and there is only one option to add again in BrickList. It will be great if under your Bricklists label we will be able to see the name of the list with a link to open it and even if it's a possible filter with your own BrickLists.

Brickset comment: I agree, it would be good to list them. There are technical reasons why they are not but I will look at overcoming them.

Currently, this can be added to the notes section, but having a dedicated field would allow you to track and sort the build time for how long it takes you to build the set. This would be useful if you wanted to rebuild a particular set at a later date when you have a set amount of time to spare or had a set number of hours available with a child/grandchild and wanted to build some lego with them to completion.

I have been using BrickSet to account for the sets that I own in my collection. However, recently I started buying sets for their parts -- sometimes in multiples. I would like to also list these sets as owned, but be able to distinguish them from sets that I have kept intact. At first, I thought this is easy, all I need to do is dedicate a "collection checkbox" for sets that have been purchased for parts. However, I have one set that I own three copies of. Two have been sorted for parts, whereas one has been kept intact. Unfortunately, there does not seem to be a way for me to store this information. One idea, would be to add a numeric field to one or more of the collection checkboxes. Then I could have a checkbox called "Parts" and put a "2" in that box and a "1" in the "I own" field.

I really like the classic theme, and I would like to know when new classic sets get added to the site or announced. However, classic sets rarely appear in the news feed, and it is a lot of effort to regularly check the site updates list or make a search to check for new sets in a specific theme. It would be nice to have an alert for new sets in a specific theme. This could be implemented into the news feed, appear like discounted sets from your wanted list, or in some other manner that is easily viewable.

I have often found that the "videos" tab under a set has very few entries, even though if I search YouTube directly, there are more video reviews available for that set. The "submit video" button requests that only video authors add links to their own videos, but if the YouTube API was used to fetch the user ID, brickset users could upload video links to help build up the library of reviews, without having to type in the producer name, whilst ensuring that the "video reviews" lists per video producer remain consistent.

How is the connection between Gravatar and Brickset made? Like Email bond, or something?
How frequently is the Brickset avatar updated?
Is Gravatar a safe place to store sensitive information, like bank cards or phone numbers?
And many more questions I can't bother to think of.

Bricklink added a set collection feature, and I have tried to save my collection to CSV and upload it to Bricklink, but for some reason doing this method only accounts for around half of the sets. Maybe an easier option could be to upload to Bricklink directly, similar to how you can export to Rebrickable or Peeron.

This is similar to suggestion #78, but specifically for minifigures. For example, if I wanted to look at all the wizards LEGO has produced, I'd go to the "Wizard" minifig tag. This shows all of the wizard minifigures, from Castle, CMF. The LEGO Movie, and... Harry Potter. The inability to look at this tag without the 300+ Harry Potter minfiigures makes it nigh-unusable for someone not interested in Harry Potter minifigures. The same can be said for the "Witch" tag. The "Brick Built Figure" tag is similarly dominated by Star Wars and Cars.

This issue can of course be rectified by looking at individual themes, but in the case of the CMF theme, it is also dominated by Harry Potter (albeit to a much smaller degree). Furthermore, it's more tedious and time-consuming to go through these individual themes than just excluding one overly-dominant theme.

If this is already possible or otherwise in the works, please correct me! Thank you to the Brickset team for all the work they do on this wonderful website.

Please notify us when Lego opens up Inside Tour applications. It is a 3 day window of time to apply, and Lego House does not announce application dates until 1-2 weeks beforehand. This will make it easier for brickset users that want to participate in the Inside Tour to apply, especially since the application window dates change each year. Last year there was an article announcing Inside Tour applications, but this year there was not. I was casually relying (my own fault but still a solid point) on brickset to announce application window because it was announced last year, and in doing so missed the application window. Something to note is the official Lego House newsletters does not announce with applications are open. For something this limited, visibility is the most important aspect so that everyone that wants to participate has the chanc to be considered.

Yes it is on me for not checking the inside tour webpage everyday waiting for an announcement, but this could be made easier from other media pages like brickset (no snarky comments this is a meaningful thing to implement).

Brickset comment: We do normally do this but I think I was away when registration opened this year. Did you manage to register?

Its a big pain when bricklists that should not be made public are still put in circulation regardless, so a simple answer would be to vote-kick them. If a certain number of people decided that the list was unhelpful, and/or unnescary or opinionated, it would automatically be removed from public view though not deleted. The creator of the bricklist(s) also wouldn't have the option to make it public any more. Simple and effective!

Brickset comment: It's sort of supposed to work like that but not enough people bother to rate them, unfortunately.

Currently when you click on the 'more images' tab when browsing a set you're presented with a series of thumbnails. Clicking on one of them gives you a larger version of the image. In order to view the next one you click the 'next' button, etc. There are a few ease-of-use issues with the page as it is currently, which could be improved:

- On both mobile and desktop the 'previous' and 'next' buttons move each time you click an image, as they're tied to the size of the box that frames each image. It would be nice to have them kept in the same location at the bottom or the left and right of the screen to make flicking between each image a little easier. I'm aware that it is possible to use the arrow keys on a keyboard but some people just like using their mouse.

- On mobile the ability to pinch-zoom and swipe between images should be added.

- On desktop there is a tooltip that pops up where your mouse cursor rests and covers part of the image. Might it be worth disabling this feature, or figuring out another way to provide the information to users?

These features could be enabled optionally in the site preferences if anyone wanted to keep the current functionality.

For example if I view 10273 Haunted House, it is tagged as "powered up compatible" and that tag currently has 2 sets (Crocodile Locomotive being the other) but if I go to 88009 (Powered Up Hub) it just shows the hub and not what sets that it is compatible with, same applies to 88008 the powered up motor. Looking up their individual elements, you can see what sets they come in but not what they are also compatible with. This is also the case with power functions as well.

I know it's a long debated argument of what actually makes a minifigure but I have to be honest there are so many "minifigures" on the site which honestly I wouldn't class as minifigures but apparently they are. They've obviously been added like that because their certain characters from a movie franchise like Star Wars and overall that's fine in my opinion! More minifigures the better!
But honestly I think there's still a few out there which should count as minifigures if one's similar are been counted as minifigures. Like the brick built Groot for example from 2014. And many more...

Brickset comment: Our minifig data comes from BricKLink and it seems they are categorising more brick-built characters as minifigs. I suspect it's an ongoing process so expect to see more added in future.

I have an idea relating to reviews. When looking into each members' profile (including myself), mostly their Role at brickset: Registered User. Only admin will have more descriptions besides the "Registered User" status/title. Then I saw that there are quite a lot of users that are Gold, Silver or Bronze reviewers.

I am just wondering whether it is easy and possible to implement so that all the reviewers will get additional status. For example, a Gold reviewer will have the status: Role at brickset: Gold Reviewer, Registered User. The silver and bronze reviewers will also get the status respectively of their contributions. By doing this, it will show that Brickset acknowledges the members' contribution and at the same time also provide more variation on the status/title.

Hopefully this can be implemented!

Amazon Watch is very useful but enabling the watch for all the marketplace is very cumbersome, the main page is literally flooded by Amazon news, greatly reducing readability.

It would be a good solution to use a tabbed view: the news shows the discounts for your country (or any marketplace you decide to select as main in the news options) but you can easily access to other marketplaces simply clicking on the related tab inside the same news.

Would love to have the rank of any sets when I display a given list. For instance when I select my owned sets and sub themes Star Wars, I have around 100 sets. When I look at a given set in the list, would be great to have the rank of the sets displayed as a information in direct reading. For instance, 75192 millenium falcon would be #1 in terms of number of pieces, #6 in terms of number of minifig, etc… Rank may be based on number of pieces, number of minifig, etc and we would have the opportunity to choose the underlying basis for the rank.

I want to implement it to get more easily the information. It allows users to compare more easily one collection to another.

I think this is an interesting concept, but it could be hard to execute. Basically, you add a section on Brickset very similar to this one, expect private so only certain members of the Brickset team can see it. Members of Brickset could write stories (anywhere from a few sentences to multiple paragraphs) about an interesting way the got a set/figure, or some other story specifically about that set and submit them to the aforementioned section. There could be an area where the writer put in the set number and their name as well. Then, to make it simple, the Brickset team could copy maybe like 5 of these and paste them into an article and publish it. Basically, this would be an article full of entertaining member written stories for everyone else to enjoy. For example, I have a very interesting story about how young 2013 jalc_45 foolishly traded a sealed copy of 7962: Anakin Skywalker and Sebulba's Podracers from 2011 for 70709: Galactic Titan. (My parents refunded the pod racer set and used the money to get the other set, a trade). I very much regret that decision nowadays.

There could be a vote and this site could regularly show which ideas are the most popular. If someone had a more detailed idea they could describe individual imaginative sets.

or, basically, the Site Updates > Sets that is on the home page. It could even be limited to just those updated in the last 7 days, or the last 10 sets as it is on the home page.

The key difference between submitDate and sinceUpdated is (obviously), just the new sets that have been added to the database vs all updates to the database.

I would like to be able to select the currency paid in the ACM data.

I use the ACM to track my purchases and like being able to track the price paid for each set. However I've just moved countries, so how do I keep track of new purchases in the new currency, whilst maintaining previous purchases in the old?

Obviously this is a non-issue for European users, but USD/CAD and NZD/AUD would be super helpful.

Setting flags would work outside of ACM to say "non default currency" but in circumstances where there is one copy of the set, if multiples were bought in differing currencies the functionality needs to be in the ACM window.

Maybe this isn't a big issue for many users, but I think some would find it helpful

I would be interest in having the ability to add (some) social media links to our profiles.

I know that Brickset previously offered the ability to have links on a user's profile, and that it was removed due to its abuse by spammers. To prevent this, you could make the portion of the URL related to the website unable to be edited. For example:

YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/ [ text box ]

This would make it so that the link would only allow the channel ID number/name, as the portion that references YouTube is already in the code.

Obviously having a link option for every social media option under the sun from F*c*book to T*kT*k would be unwieldly, so perhaps a limitation to those that are actually used for Lego content creation, such as YouTube or Flikr would be reasonable to start?

It's understandable if this is outside the scope. I also recognize that websites typically like to keep traffic from leaving for revenue purposes.

In order to have a better view of the original prices of the sets, it should be interesting to be able to record prices for old sets with their original currency and/or their Euro equivalent as these are always missing, and dollar prices are never accounted for inflation.

Indeed, there are tools in order to convert an amount from French Francs (in my case) to Euro, with taking consideration for inflation provided by the government (Insee calculateur Euro Francs).

As vintage sets often have a price tag on their boxes, it could be interesting to enter this price in a database, with a picture of the price tag (providing a proof that the price tag is authentic) in order to make a average price for the Brickset database. Many collectors owning boxed vintage sets could help in this regard.

This would stop people from thinking sets were dirt cheap in the past considering the dollar price and the fact it is not accounted for inflation.

I have my collection sorted by 'order added to your collection'. If the 'owned' box is accidentally clicked (then reclicked) the set obviously becomes the most recently added set. A confirmation button would avoid this. Or maybe even a global on/off editing lock as per ACM.
(Not really a problem on a full-size screen, but quite easy to 'mis-touch' on a small mobile)

For example I would like to make different collections for: Fire, General and Police - then add some SPACE & SCI-FI sets + characters to those. You could also have this Custom Collection PAGE where are all your collection and description for them.

When you click for example Police it would open a Custom Collection/Police main page... header + description and under it list of sets you have placed there. That main page you could give a BANNER (background for header). There could be 6 different options for example.

It would be amazing to WRITE a little bit about own collection. When you would choose 1 of your characters for example in General Custom Collection... in same view there could be possibility to write about the character.

In a recent article (https://brickset.com/article/46661/which-sets-have-been-available-for-the-shortest-period-of-time) Huw looked at availability of sets on lego.com and a commenter suggested doing this analysis for the Ideas theme.

Curious if I was able to perform this analysis using a custom query, I ran into a little snag: while there is a plethora of fields from the database available to filter and sort on in queries (including the required "days available at lego.com" for the analysis in question), the output from running the query only returns the "basic" fields like number, name, year etc. rather than the full list of fields like the "*" in the query would suggest.

As a first step the table view for the results could include the fields used in the query (either as filter or sort criterion), which would enable the aforementioned analysis.

Further enhancement could be to include a multi select list for the database fields as part of the query definition form, which could be used to define the select part of the query.

It is a big ask to do this retroactively. But it would be useful to have when you want to acquire parts for a specific sub-assembly. Without this feature, I have to go through the instructions and manually make a list of the parts as they are being used. That's fine for smaller sub-assemblies, but it's a pain for larger ones. It doesn't help that Lego themselves don't group the parts by bag in the instructions manual.

This is fairly complain-y, but I'm not exactly fond of the current rich text editor for reviews. It doesn't seem to add anything that most browsers don't already do themselves, and it has the disadvantage of overriding the browser's right-click menu with its own, [i]and[/i] overwriting the browser's spellchecker and dictionary with its own. The latter gets to be rather annoying when dealing with franchises like Star Wars and Bionicle, especially if one had the names and terminology in their browser's dictionary already. I know I've ended up just turning it off rather than go through the hassle of adding the terms to the editor's dictionary to avoid my review crawling with distracting red squiggles.

I also noticed that the template that used to help give structure for reviews is gone. Why is that?

I think the editor should be changed to have these replacements should be removed, and perhaps restore the template.

Brickset comment: The browser's default text editor doesn't provide formatting and so on so which is why we use a different one, the same one that we use for authoring news articles, in fact.

I find the spell checker superior to the browser's, but I agree it can be a nuisance having to add names and so on to it.

And if a user has put in an order with Lego before this might be implemented and cant remember what parts they ordered, they can go into their order history on Lego.Com and find out what they've ordered previously.

When new sets are announced, it would be convenient to have a shortcut to add them to the wanted list directly from the article, without having to click through to the set page. (This is something I frequently do with new sets... perhaps too frequently!) One way this could be done is by adding the option to the set popup window, which appears when you hover the pointer over a set number. The option could be a simple checkbox at the bottom of the window, similar to the "I want this set" checkbox that appears on set pages.

The one issue with doing this with the current popup behavior is that the popup will disappear after a mouseout event from the set number. It would need to be visible longer for the new option to actually be selectable, without the window disappearing when you move the pointer down. Maybe the popup could appear directly under the pointer, and then disappear with its own mouseout event, instead of using the set number for the location and mouseout.

I know personally i would like to know the current value of the sets and minfigs that i own. Added to the inventory list another column for item current value with an overall total value of items in personal collection.
Furthermore if it were possible to add a column that we could add how much we paid for each set/item. By doing this we could keep an eye on the overall price growth of items. Not personally in the business for investment but its always interesting to know and also for insurance purposes especially when the sets start to add up.

When viewing the 'Sets collection analysis' in 'Home > Your Collection', the total price for each line doesn't reflect exactly what is inside the theme.

For example (I'm in France and are using the price in €) :
- I own some old sets in theme Adventurers and their price (RRP) is known only in $ : the total is displayed at 0.00, but that's wrong since they have a RRP.
- I own some promotionnal sets : the total is displayed at 0.00 and that's ok since they were GWP

If the conversion in currency is not possible, could we have another column behind the total value indicating the number of sets for which the conversion could not be found ? This would allow to know that some sets are missing when looking at the analysis.

Hello! I am working on a Batcave MOC, taking inspiration from each Batcave TLG has released. I think it would be helpful to unite each Batcave set under a single "Batcave" tag, however, at present, only two sets share the tag (76183, 76252). Other tags, like "Batcomputer", are shared inconsistently with sets that do contain the Batcomputer. For instance, 76122 contains the Batcomputer, but does not list it as a tag. I think it would be more practical to unite each set under one "Batcave" tag, though, as this would be easier than using Batcave-adjacent tags and trying to find which ones are used on which Batcaves.

Yes, there is the Wanted section/option, but many wanted items are retired or unavailable so are in that section for when you trade, at a garage sale or somehow by happenstance you come across them.

It would be so helpful for when you're out shopping and can't remember which sets you're wanting to get and you know there's a sale or it's a gift for someone.
Having a note section just for the shopping list item could help or an extra box e.g. ? Myself or ? Gift.

I love the daily Amazon posts showing what's on sale, but everything I click on in those posts takes me right to Amazon. I would appreciate it if when I clicked on the set number, it took me to the Brickset Set page instead of Amazon so I could see the details of the set to do a little research before I decided to jump on Amazon and buy it. If you hover on the set number, it already shows the little snapshot, so it feels like if I click on that, it should take me to the full page, but it jumps to Amazon. Clicking on the set name in that line takes me to Amazon and should stay that way, I would just love an easier way to get to the Brickset Set page quickly.

I propose dividing set tags into 2 types based on how much of the set they apply to. At the moment, the CASTLE tag shows any set that features any reference to a castle, regardless of how small it is compared to the rest of the set. There is no easy way to show all sets that are castles, rather than just including a castle. In my suggestion, major tags would describe all or most of the set. They would describe what the set is, rather than what it includes. Tags that apply to the set as a product, rather than describing the model (e.g. 5TH WAVE, or D2C) would also be major. Tags that apply to side builds, minifigures, example builds from the classic theme, or a small part of the main build would all be minor (unless the set is a minifigure, such as CMF).

When browsing sets, you would then be able to filter for major tags and/ or minor tags.

Here are some examples of what the major tags would be for some sets that have lots of tags:

10326 Natural History Museum: 18 plus, city, d2c, modular building, museum, neoclassical, science
80036 The City of Lanterns: 5th wave, asia, china, city, lego 90th anniversary, megapolis, mini modular, monkie kid modular system
11021 90 Years of Play: anniversary set, lego 90th anniversary, lego history

All other tags currently on these sets would be minor. These are the kinds of sets this system is aimed at, since they include so many tags for all the small references in them. This means they show up a lot when browsing by tag or making queries, including when they aren't really what I want to see.

I understant that implementing this would be a major task, but if enough people want this, I hope you consider it for next time you feel ready to add a big feature to the site.

I love all the changes and additional options for updating your inventory. However all my sets are now listed as "new". This makes sense for resellers with basements full of new sets ready for future profits, but like many I buy, open, and use my sets. Please change the default (or let the user pick the default) so I don't have to manually set hundreds of sets to used.

There are some reviewers who are prolific, but generally provide very low quality, copy/paste reviews. I can vote these as unhelpful (as I've seen others do), but it would be easier to 'hide' the reviews in the same way we can 'hide' comments in articles from specific users.

This would make it easier for me to see other reviewers, and also prevent users being disheartened by constant 'unhelpful' votes.

This time of the year, with the advent calendars, instead of having each calendar having its own article every day, I would suggest having only one article per day for the calendars. Then, within that article, each of the types of calendars can have its own link. This would greatly clear up space on the front page. Now, with all the new announcements for upcoming sets, it will be easier to see those on the front page. As it is, those get pushed back off the front page with too many advent calendar articles.

Also, perhaps a search feature on this page would be helpful, with a message above suggesting you use it to check if anyone’s already suggested something similar. Adding categories for new suggestions would also make it easier to search through them, because there are a number of good suggestions that only have a couple of votes and could easily be lost in the rest.

Following up on suggestion #324 by Brickset user JekoRhino: would Brickset ever implement a more detailed breakdown of possible packaging variants within the database? In terms of implementation I imagine it would have to be a flag set on the user side, since I doubt it would be possible to confirm the existence of every possible permutation. Instead perhaps it would be feasible for Brickset to tabulate the versions users have selected as owning and display that info. There are quite a few possible aspects that could be tracked:

1.) Physical differences. Often times this also corresponds to which factory the set was made at.
2.) Localization, since sometimes text was translated for regional markets.
3.) Set redesigns.
4.) Rereleases and other graphic design changes over time.
5.) Special co-promotional editions.

It is also well documented when various LEGO factories were operational, so that would be a good cross-reference to use for what would be appropriate depending on release year. Overall I don't know if this would be too much of an undertaking to implement, but as a collector it would be a very helpful feature to have. Thanks!

This might be a useful tag for creating customs and finding minifigures with matching pieces, and also when sorting themes like Harry Potter, Star Wars or Spider-Man, which had characters released both with yellow and later light nougat skintones, which are not compatible with one another. Characters with no skin (like robots) or have all their skin covered up (such as Spider-Man, the original clone troopers or the Batman's Scarecrow) would not have such a tag.

I appreciate that adding the yellow skin tag to all appropriate minifigures alone would be pretty overwhelming, but if we can have tags like "Male" or "Female" I suppose it's not completely out of the question.

Perhaps the News page could contain several sections featuring links to useful articles (and perhaps a brief description where needed). These could be in drop-down lists (like the FAQ) or on separate pages. Links to whole categories like Historical and Storage could be added as well with a few articles featured. I have built up a list of potential articles for this page. (motorising Orient Express, taking photos for reviews, understanding part numbers etc).

As for Xbox games I often use Howlongtobeat, to get an estimate value for money spent. I was wondering if there was a similar system possible for LEGO sets / models. Although, looking at a display model or playing with a model in LEGO is off course also time spent. So it would have more value than just the built time, but it would be nice to have an indication when browsing models to buy.

Hence, my suggestion would be to add a Time2build section to all models. Where users can add their Time2build, including their level of LEGO mastery beginner / mediocre / advanced. And I think three categories should be max. Then as a user you can either choose average Time2build to be shown, or in one of these three categories.

Penguin Minions (as they are identified in Lego Batman: The Videogame) are Oswald Cobblepot's robotic minions that resemble penguins in both the original Batman and DC Super Heroes themes.
They have appeared in sets 7783: The Batcave: The Penguin and Mr. Freeze's Invasion, 7885: Robin's Scuba Jet: Attack of The Penguin, 76010: Batman: The Penguin Face off, 76035: Jokerland and 212117: The Penguin.
Despite their frequent appearances, they are neither listed as minifigures (despite there being a whole tag for brick-built minifigures) nor do they even have a tag listing what sets they're in. I think they appear frequently enough to deserve being listed.

Currently we have two sort options for sorting by value, either by the new condition or used condition. But when we enter a set into our collection, we select it's condition. I want a way to sort by value but have it use the value of each set's selected condition.

For instance, I own a used 5004590 Bat-Pod and when I try sorting my collection by "New" condition, it always shows up at the very top. This doesn't accurately reflect what I have in my collection since the one I own is used and the price difference between a new copy and a used copy is ~$1000.

Since we are inputting the condition data for each set, and most collections will be a mix of new and used sets, we should be able to use that when performing a general value sort.

While a person can filter on each vendor in the buy list or make a custom query, some people may prefer to see all the items and sales, but exclude certain vendors they will likely not buy from (i.e. not seeing Bricklink, Brick Owl, or Amazon ins the All discounts list..).

Another alternative would be to have multi-select in the filter dropdowns...

At the monnet it is extremely time consuming to have to go to an individual set's page to see the percentage owned at Rebrickable.com. For instance if you want to see which of the Imperial Shuttles you have the highest percentage of parts of, multiple tabs are required. If this feature was available in searches it would be much simpler.

Brickset comment: That's a great idea, but as the data comes from Rebrickable 'on the fly' when you view a set and not saved anywhere locally it would not be possible to do without querying Rebrickable for every set when the list is displayed,. I'd need to do up to 200 Rebrickable API calls per list, something I suspect Nathan at Rebrickable would object to!

Add a feature to calculate how many users have the same sets and minifigures that you have (i.e. the number of collections where your collection of LEGO sets is a mathematical subset), or if your collection is unique: there exists one and only one Brickset collection with these elements.

I think there are some users that virtually own almost every set ever released, but maybe some kind of filter can be implemented (e.g. ignore the top X), or consider multiples of the same set/minifigure in the subset criteria, so if your collection consists of two #6876, only the collections with two or more #6876 can be counted as collections that contain yours.

Since this calculation may demand some computational power, the idea is to enable this feature through a link in the collection page, instead of automatically updating it like the collection piece count. An additional feature may indicate the set(s) you would need to have in order to make your collection unique.

I often look at how many uncommon or high value pieces are in a set when I find it for sale on a heavy discount. Essentially this is comparing cost to value. As the value data is already available for each piece, totalling this and displaying it on the Set Details should (in my entirely unqualified opinion) be fairly straight forward, and might be of interest to other users.

I am sure this is not a number that can be easily generated from existing data, but it would be nice to have a separate number for the number of colors that can actually be seen in the finished product. This number would ignore all bright crazy colored bricks that are buried deep in the model, never more to be seen. (i.e. in 76205 Gargantos Showdown on pages 14-15 there are several parts in colors that do no show anywhere on the exteriors of the model). Not sure this could be added to the inventory page as it would need eyes on the model itself to confirm. ... I guess looking at all the detail pages there is not really a color count to begin with. Hello, I got this idea from a couple of good fellows in my Jurassic Park/World General Discussion as I was talking some points and it came to me that the Brickset page is limited in regards to theme discussion and what can be done is, for example, on every SW set reveal article a link is included to the General Star Wars Discussions thread so that people can have more freedom in how they talk about the sets. Official images (from Brickset itself or other official sources) can also be posted there so people aren't constanly switching from site to site.

It would be interesting to be able to use query numbers to return a list of Lego sets through the Brickset API

For example, since the number of the forthcoming sets query by Huwbot is 8675, the link could look something like this:

This way, developers can access more complex queries. You can even disable the params parameter in order to reduce the complexity of the API call a reduce search redundancy

It would be much easier to navigate the comments on posts if they were shown in a threaded view (with replies in an expandable tree structure under each post, like on Reddit), as well as being able to sort by upvotes, rather than purely chronologically. Instead of an internal development, this could also be achieved by switching to a 3rd-party add-on like Disqus.

Add the ability to select one specific part (let's say a Large Angular Motor) and order all sets that contain this part by quantities. On this list, only sets that contain at least one of the selected part will appear (so in this example, all sets on this list would have at least one Large Angular Motor) and they can be ordered by quantities, either ascending or descending.

This could be very useful to analyse for example how many sets contains motors, or use this for tracking how many train tracks are added to each train kit, or even track for curiosity which are the sets with the largest amounts of a given piece (what is the set in the world with the largest amount of Technic pins? I don't know).

As far as my knowledge goes, I don't think it possible today to get a report with all motors on Technic sets and do side by side comparison. I would have to create a list on a spreadsheet and manually pull this information from each part list and add them as columns on my spreadsheet.

Brickset comment: This is currently possible by searching for a part and then clicking on the link on number of occurences, so for angular motors, the Tehcnic version:

The parts database is a great resource. I've been copying and pasting images to print sheets of labels for my storage boxes. It's quite laborious. Any chance of a tool to do this? For me (and, I'm guessing, others) it would be very helpful to be able to select a few parts and then have their images automatically transferred into a document that could be used to print labels. (I'm using Avery 50*37mm oval labels, 21 per A4 sheet.)

I note Huw's 2020 article ( https://brickset.com/article/51721/storage-solutions-rslotb ) on storage where he discusses labels with multiple images. For those of us with more modest collections and using smaller containers one image per label is fine. I store parts in families that can be represented by a single image. Huw's offer in 2020 to release a system to print multiple images on labels does not seem to have been taken up. Perhaps single image labels would be more popular!?

Today we can export the the list of set and the list of minifigs (we own, want etc) but I can't find a csv with {set number, minifig number, quantity}. The actual set csv gives the number of minifigs in a set, the minifig csv give the list of sets having this minifig but there nowhere (to my knowlegde) the quantity of a specific minifig in a particular set (1, 2, 3 stormtroopers ?).

For ease I suggest to let the actual csv unchanged and just create an additional set_minifig_quantity.csv (owned, wanted, etc).

Viewing interesting lists has things such as the most expensive sets excluding Star Wars, so I'm thinking:
Shouldn't there be a way to exclude other types of theme/set or only include that theme/set if you add a function for it?
This way you can focus on one theme or not include one theme (e.g Duplo isn't really the original LEGO, which I don't want to see on lists because it disrupts the flow and isn't what I wanted to see)
I'm sure that you would agree that some themes don't interest you and might not want to see other things such as LEGO that is an embarrassment to the company and should be forgotten (Belville, Galidor, and God forbid Scala)

Seems like there are sometimes long-term delays in completing the parts lists for sets. C-3PO (#75398) has been available for a number of weeks now, but the inventory is stuck at 80% even though Bricklink has it complete. Another example: Adventure Camp Archery Range (#42622) - it's been available for 3 months, but it's stuck at 90% complete. I'd like to see these and other inventories completed on this website here so I can check the parts against my current existing parts inventory.

The paper-bag number logging on set entries is problematic because there is no way to mark sub-bags. So, inside bag 1, you may find two more bag 1s. Currently these are all listed as bag 1, which is not only confusing but means that information is being lost during data entry which could fairly trivially be kept (and displayed). It also makes it trickier to check an existing set of entries, since there are no markers for internal versus outer bags, meaning you need to compare multiple bags against one another. Also, given that sometimes you find plastic bags inside paper bags, it would seem to make sense to have a way of indicating a plastic bag was inside a paper bag as a placeholder so that in future a user can note missing information and enter the eventual paper bag number that might replace that plastic bag - assuming such a thing might happen. (Perhaps timestamp of entry can be used to guess sub-bag status for already-entered bags, but this is not ideal since it is not guaranteed; and isn't currently exposed to users of the site unless perhaps the bags are silently sub-sorted by timestamp?)

-This is mainly just to satisfy my inner completionist, and also a good way to find cheap sets.

These ones are harder to implement, but I must mention them.
Sorting by:
ratio of MSRP to current Value New
ratio of MSRP to current Value Used
Helps find out how big the markup is on sets like #10195, and also can help users find underpriced gems like #70164.

Brickset comment: One reason we have not provided Value new ascending and Value used ascending is that we don't have values for all sets. so those without one would, possibly confusingly, appear at the top of the list.

Unlike with, say, the switch to Medium/Dark Stone Gray, you have to look very closely to tell the difference between the new V3 versions of White, Earth Blue, and Cool Yellow and the old ones. The site has even put some post-switch elements under the old colors. To avoid confusion and simplify finding elements for users, I propose that the site merge the V3 colors with the old ones. I could be wrong, but I think there are far more people who don’t want to have to manually check both old and new colors separately than people who need to only see one version of the color. They have the same TLG names, if not numbers, and BrickLink doesn’t distinguish. Merging Dark Red and New Dark Res would also be helpful for similar reasons.

Brickset comment: I totally agree that they should be merged in an ideal situation, but LEGO differentiates the new colours in the inventories it publishees and we use the information in them verbatim. Not only are the colour names and IDs different, but a 2x4 white brick will have a different element ID to a 2x4 white v3 brick, so it would not be a straightforward process anyway.

Some sets have more than one name listed. An example is 42673-1, which is called Family Vacation Beach Resort but is also known as Family Holiday Beach Resort. These alternative names are visible on the set details pane, but you can only search by the “main” name. If you could search by the other names it might be a help in cases where the other names are significantly different.

As far as I can tell the selection of catalogues on Brickset only goes up to about 2015 for the general shop at home catalogues. It would be nice if that could be expanded to include the seasonal bulk mail catalogues.

I'd like to suggest some BrickSet tool that can be used to define your own minifigure.

Users should (for example) be able to:
- create a new private minifigure entry
- and give it a name/code
- add tags
- upload a photo (photos)
- specify which parts it consists of

The newly created entry should be respected in all the queries that a user does.
Visibility (initially) for the given user only.
Thus, be respected with:
- number of minifigs I own
- what are my minifigs with a given tag
- minifig export
- etc, etc

Via the https://brickset.com/suggestions page , on a dedicate new subpage,
users can file their creations for approval/acceptance into the non-official but still public section of brickset.
After collecting enough supporters, BrickSet stuff would promote the status to "some sort of public".
For this the URLs of the private creations must be publically accessible too, although otherwise ignored by the general BrickSet functionallity.
In this way community approved "custom" minifigs can be promoted from private to public.
This helps for suggestion #765 where it says: This would help those in the community interested in building MOCs around well-known people/characters/movies/shows/etc. find and share with each other.
