I have to say, Animal Crossing has passed me by, but the sets and their minifigures do appear very charming. Also, the prices seem quite reasonable to me, especially given the use of large road panels in some.
What do you think of these sets and how the Animal Crossing characters have translated to minifigures? Let us know in the comments.

They look great! Hope this will continue!
It looks like it’s using some pieces from Super Mario for a kind of modular design. Nice that the sets aren’t super expensive, either - but given the target audience that could have proven a bad move.
Prices are way better than I would’ve expected but it’s another theme that means nothing to me at all. Like the Fabuland vibes though.
I particularly like Nooks' Cranny, I'm glad they included that. Would have been nice to see the Museum, or Airport though. The Airport could have been great with a seaplane!

Maybe saving for wave 2? I can see this theme being popular.
I have no connection to the game, but these look fantastic, with cute characters. Definitely squint and they might look like Fabuland. I’ll pick these up.
Love the minifigs in particular! The bunny is so cute
From what I've seen of the game (that I've never played) this looks like it translated well to the brick. I want the rabbit, squirrel, and cat minifigs.
77050 Nook's Cranny & Rosie's House
535 pieces
£64.99, $74.99, €74.99
Tom Nook, Rosie
6396: International Jetport
541 pieces
$69.75
8 figures (!!!!)
And what a different!!!
Very reasonably priced, but still about £5 -£10 above what I'd want to pay for them. Can see most big retailers having them on discount soon after launch though.
I have never engaged with this franchise, and the theme and its aesthetic don’t appeal to me at all, but I’m please for its FOL fans. Not every LEGO theme is going to speak to every LEGO enthusiast - that’s inevitable.
LEGO covers many themes that I care for (Marvel, DC, Tolkien, Classic Space and Castle among others). It would be churlish of me to begrudge fans of Animal Crossing. I genuinely hope they enjoy this new line.
Hm... I've got mixed feelings about these. There's some great new pieces and printed parts, but I was hoping for at least a little more detail on things like the furniture so it could more accurately resemble furniture items from the games. As it stands, the simplicity and low-detail of the builds means that apart from the custom printed parts, most of the furniture and items look somewhat generic. I suppose that the printed parts and figures will allow MOCists to come up with more detailed, accurate versions.
I was also hoping for a new spade-tipped shovel piece, which would be more accurate to the games as well as being fairly useful for other themes as well.

Looking a little too happy running around with that axe though!

With 33 years of inflation bringing that jetport up to $163.85 in today's money, it sure is a difference alright - albeit not the one you intended I'm guessing!
Lego x Nintendo is turning out to be better than expected! I hope there's more franchises coming too!

I'm sorry, but I guarantee you that 1990's $70 is not the same as 2023's $70...
These look grotesque to me. Just my opinion.
Entirely too charming. Really surprised at the new window and door pieces, coupled with the new head moulds, looks like TLG is really investing in this line, hope we get many, many more characters and settings to come!
The prices look very reasonable. I guess besides the figures there aren't a lot of specialized pieces. I'm hoping that there's good quality control for the prints.
The bell bag only comes with the biggest set? Typical stingy Tom Nook.
I just may have to bricklink those minifigs!
Oh well, guess I won't have to buy any of these. Very disappointing.
I love this, not oversized and still will fit alongside City / Friends/ Creator scale.
Also okay price for a license.
I can understand compromises like Open back/facade not appealing to many AFOL but I think in this case it's very smart choice for LEGO to keep sets smaller and sell masses instead of just cranking out €100-300 sets for this, as I think this will still appeal to a variation of people.
The builds might be somewhat simple, but I don't consider this 4+ either.
Personally no interest in this, but they do look quite well-designed and I'm always happy to see some new molds, recolors, and useful prints.

Only characters that believe in unicorns showed up.
So it was Bunnie cutting down the trees, yet Darrel ends up taking the blame...

Would’ve been cool to have Timmy and Tommy, Blathers and K.K. Slider. I guess more sets are inevitable, though, since Lego hardly ever does a licensed theme and not have more sets after the first wave. The only ones I can think of are Prince of Persia, Powerpuff Girls, Scooby Doo, Minions, Galidor, Trolls, and Avatar. And with the THREE references to K.K. Slider, he’s sure to come.
Render bug/misplaced part at the boat prop.
"Nook's Cranny"
Please, this is a family site.
I think this is a good start! It makes sense no to go too nuts with the prices in this case. There are no digital figures (looking at you, Mario), and I think LEGO wants to incentivize people purchasing multiple sets to make their town.
I could see these being useful for non Animal Crossing fans with how the buildings are made. Making whole City can be daunting, so having the framework for a small town will probably be better.
Big fan of the AC games, having played New Leaf and New Horizons.
These look great! The prices are also very reasonable for licensed - and almost certain-to-be-popular - LEGO sets. The variety for a first wave is very solid, and buying all 5 would allow you to put together a fairly respectable community.
LEGO has a hit on its hands here. The possibilities are fairly limitless, especially given the sheer number of available villagers for them to produce. A CMF line could easily have 20+ figs and AC/Nintendo diehards would be pretty eager to collect them all.
Definitely expect we’ll see a wave 2 before very long.
Is it just me looks bit too cartoonish figures?
I am also surprised at the number of AFOLs who have no familiarity with this series, give that the whole premise of NEW HORIZONS is basically “You get to build an island into whatever you want it to be.” It’s basically Minecraft sans any fighting.
But I’m guessing therein lies the appeal for LEGO - untapped demographics and all that.
I want to know Mark Stafford’s thoughts. He’s the biggest Fabuland guy I can think of, and really these look and feel just like Fabuland.

I need three bell bags for the money tree!
I love how you have all of these cutesy-happy Fabuland-style minifigs... and then you have Tom Nook with a good ole' sack of Bells. It's just like him to only be available in the most expensive set too.
Surprised that there isn't a set with the generic avatar (or "Villager"), that would have been cool.
For the love of all things, Nintendo. A Legend of Zelda theme already! People are practically begging to give you their money at this point.
I’m not familiar with the license, so in my mind it’s Fabuland 2.0.
I always thought it was wild that LEGO beat Nintendo to the bunch with Fabuland, but that ended up obscure and unheard of while Animal Crossing a little over a decade latter became a household name.
Love that these actually look affordable for once. Tom and Isabell were no-brainers, but aside from that Kapp'n seems like the only "major" character and even then he's a tad minor. No Bathers? No Mr. Ressetti? No actual Villager for the person building sets to imprint on? Even some of the more memey characters like Raymond and Anka are missing (though given the latter's meme maybe that's a good thing.) I guess you have to delay something to make sure wave two sells, but it's still a shame.
I can't wait to put Isabelle inside Nook's Cranny.
Agh, I can't stop!
I just find it funny the difference in discourse between blogs like this and Animal Crossing blogs. I for one agree with the lot here that these sets are fairly priced and pretty great considering the target demographic! I definitely hope they expand upon this line!
These look fantastic - and at a price that means they can appeal to kids (young and old) who can build their little Lego AC village.
I'd still be down for a UCS Nooks Cranny though!

I'm going to guess there are fewer Fabuland references in the Animal Crossing blogs.
They should give Julian another expression too. Poor fella sees nothing when he is trying to do his stuff.
I have zero understanding of the AFOL community these days.
They are very stingy on the minifigures!

OK, but with the same number of pieces, and what different sizes!
Is it just me, or is this Fabuland characters in clown makeup featured in Minecraft environments?
This is a great start for new neverending collectable minifig series!!
Happy tree friends vibes! ( also fabuland of course! )
77047 is giving me serious Happy Tree Friends vibes, especially with that third picture…
@Vazul:
Sure, you’ve only got 33 years of inflation to account for, and the single-use molds for the animal heads.
@illennium:
There’s probably fewer Chima references, too.
Super exciting but I’m gutted they aren’t using the balloon mould!! They have it and I wish they’d use it more!!
I think this is the closest we'll ever get to a Fabuland revival theme.
Love the Bubblegum printed piece! Glad to see the most iconic song from the game be represented in LEGO lol
They’d be printing money if they did a CMF line for Animal Crossing.

How about a big Fabuland set for the 100th anniversary in 2032? Let's make it happen. Start campaigning on blogs and Youtube now, everybody!

Boat propeller.
Dark orange medium legs are a nice option for Rebels Season 1 Ezra, though I will keep mine with short legs.
Hopefully the nougat torso means some will become more widely available in the near future though probably not seeing how Gilderoy has turned out.
Those faces...
Pour a little more fuel on my nightmare fire, please!
(N.B. it's very possible that I'm not the target audience)
Never played the games so have zero context, so these just give me strong Fabuland vibes. And looking at the comments I see I'm not the only one; perhaps some sort of retrospective article is in order!
I need a Blathers to curate next years modular, the Natural History Museum
Some nice torso prints. No interest in the rest of it though.
I hate when no one else shows up at my birthday party…
But I am definitely going to get all of these, they look great!
I might get all of them, lol.
(Copied and pasted on last Animal Crossing post)
A few thinks:
1: I don't think it's fair that this series gets 8 new individual minifigs, all with specially moulded heads, when Sonic only got four and LEFT OUT KNUCKLES! If they could do 8 new moulds and prints for animal crossing with the same amount of sets, surely Lego could have done Shadow, Knuckles and some others.
2: This nintendo partnered wave of sets include minifigures, so this could be a sign that the Super Mario theme could be getting minifigs too! I really hope so! Bennie Bricks makes it sound so good.
3: If Lego has decided to make a theme for another nintendo game, hopefully it won't stop here! We need Lego sets of other nintendo games (SPECIFICALLY ZELDA!) and this is hope that we might get some in the years to come!
Can you please print something I can complain about? lol
These are disappointing, but we have been spoilt by superior builds in Lego Ideas (Nook's Cranny has much more substantial builds in MOC form).
I see this is fitting around a price point (which is reasonable for a Nintendo licence), and the sets look similar to something from Friends.
Just feel that all the buildings could've benefited with more depth (either 2 or 4 more studs).

I always look forward to the “I don’t know it so it must be lame/bad/unpopular” replies for new product releases, ESPECIALLY for anything that isn’t specifically targeted toward older male nerds.
New Horizons sold 42 million copies worldwide and was a global phenomenon during the first year of the pandemic. You’d think LEGO had announced they were releasing sets based on POLICE ACADEMY 6: CITY UNDER SEIGE.
lol
77047 Bunnie's Outdoor Activities
picture with the minifigure bunnie with the ax looks like it could come from a horror film lol it looks so creepy
Looks to me like Fabuland 2 or something like that.

"Why are they releasing on 01.03.2024? Why not the first of january?"
Insiders/VIP on the 1st. Everyone else on the 3rd. They do this for every release month.
I'm imagining a Mario styled figure of K.K. Slider who can scan the album art pieces included in the sets to play a song.
It feels almost certain that we'll get the Museum sometime in the future. Probably some spots for bugs and fish (and later paintings hopefully) in various sets to be displayed, though I suspect the fossils will be included. Hopefully also the Roost to be added into the set. And an observatory section would make a real easy outdoor display segment with a telescope.
So many good options possible to create with the theme, especially once they start branching out into greater creativity (eg Egyption styled house with Ankha). Gonna look forward to future waves.

Sorry, I think this is a mistake regarding dates. From where I am from, it goes Day, Month, Year. Henceforth, I believe that you thought I meant the 3rd of January, when I actually meant March 1st. It says that in the press release, and I believe that is an odd date.. Once again, I sincerely apologise."
There will be plenty of other sets on January first.

I was just about to say that.
I haven’t played Animal Crossing since the original in the early 2000s. I absolutely love these sets. Nice minifigures with some interesting pieces, but small enough that they aren’t ridiculously expensive and can be more easily purchased for kids (and adults) to customize with the modular functionality. Looking forward to more figures and sets in other waves. I wish the Super Mario line was more like this one. I’ve only purchased one of those sets. If it was like this, it would have been many, many more.
THIS is what Mario should have been. Not much of an Animal Crossing nerd, but that doesn't excuse the cuteness of these builds.
As I do not know the game this is based on, I can only assume that the figures are a fair representation of how the characters appear in game. Keeping that in mind, that red headed rabbit type thing is down right creepy!!! Hope they meet the expectations of people that have been looking forward to them :)
Fabuland is back :-P
Please take my money. My 7 year old, who doesn't yet play Animal Crossing, is going to love these things.
I'm hoping for an Able Sisters Tailor Shop with Mabel and Sable!
All I can think of is: Happy Tree Friends!
anyone else think some figures look like happy tree friends characters?
I want these because they remind me of Fabuland. I know almost nothing about Animal Crossing.

No. Absolutely not. Just Bunnie’s face. And the fact that Julian’s eyelids are both closed, like he’s going to stumble into something and reveal that his eye sockets are empty.
I’m not sure where in the line of Animal Crossing -> Animal Farm -> Fabuland -> Chima you’d put Happy Tree Friends. Perhaps it’s the Bad Place in the afterlife. The way they keep coming back each episode does remind me of Sisyphus and Tantalus.
@Ridgeheart said:
"You keep trying to forget Vidiyo.
And I'm not about to let you."
Vidiyo doesn’t fit neatly into the Fabuland canon because it has lots of not-animal characters, from humans, to undead, to fantasy monsters, to non-food-related fantasy monsters, to aliens, to robots…
Unless everything but the animals died out, somehow, and the PC from Animal Crossing is the only one left…
@Lamarider said:
"I have zero understanding of the AFOL community these days."
The "community" is comprised of many individuals, each with their own likes and dislikes. The only thing that we all share is we like some aspects of Lego.
March cannot come soon enough! Would be cool if they did a starter set of airport with Wilbur/Orville.
These look fun. I loved the game in 2020. My daughter and I built this massive island and decorated it. But I've kind of gotten away from the game since it is so repetitive. But these translated pretty well, and I have to get Fauna since she is on my island. But as much as I'd like Nook's Cranny, I can't justify $75. Oh well.
I really like the stylized look of these sets! Interesting to see them using the plates from the Super Mario sets; I'm happy to see more of them.
Now we just need a Doom Eternal line for the ultimate crossover.
@sparkbears said:

Now it’s _really_ starting to sound like Happy Tree Friends…
I Think they will have a mini figure series for all the unincluded villiagers.
They look cute but not as charming as Fabuland to me.
The first time I saw something from this new theme, the Fabuland pathways in my brain got triggered. Not only for the minifigs, but also the doors, umbrella-piece and some utensils, as well as the look of some of the roofs. I'd never heard of Animal Crossing, so I figured it might be a new in-house theme. Now I know what it actually is, I'm not disappointed; it's quite charming.
I do wonder what's up with those extra window pieces though...
