Marvel Advent Calendar - Day 10

Posted by ,

Captain America emerged on day nine and may be joined by some associated items during the coming days, given the precedent of Iron Man earlier in the calendar.

Find out after the break...

Marvel Advent Calendars have featured some insubstantial models in the past, but this set had avoided them, until now. Captain America's jetpack, as shown on the packaging, serves a useful purpose for play and this design is reasonable, although it consists of only six elements and offers no visual connection with Captain America, so I find the jetpack pretty underwhelming. At the very least, there should have been an attachment point for Cap's shield.

Overall - The generic design of this jetpack is fine, but there was an opportunity to produce a more specialised version specifically for Captain America.

The comments about the jet pack not suiting Cap are completely correct. But it’s a nice little collection of useful pieces, especially the parachute harness piece with the four studs on the back

Or at least include the helmet. I mean. Cap could probably handle any accidents (super-soldier and all that) but it still would have been a nice inclusion.

I don't see why it wouldn't be appropriate for the WWI pilot Steve Trevor to own a jetpack. He's still around during the current day alongside Batman's rogues gallery, Cyborg, Nightwing (Barbara Gordon?) etc. And we've had a Boston Dynamics Ace the Bathound. So why wouldn't such a sci-fi ish thing that already kind of exists in real life not be in the hands of a time displaced hero who was at the forefront of technological advances?

All he needs is some wings and maybe a drone and you'll have an actual superhero of some kind.

Wow.

It’s funny because while the MCU’s Captain America has never really been shown using a jetpack, their Captain Carter -has-, a couple times now I think. Perhaps this was the gift she gave to her multiversal counterpart

Jetpack, or portable candle lighter??

This could have been salvaged had the parachute piece been released in a new, more suitable colour like blue or dark blue imo

That seems an exceedingly inefficient way to roast chestnuts, two at a time.

Today the LIMBO MARBLES CHRISBUMPS NUMBER BOX has a FIRE SHIRT! UNCLE SAM MAN has all the fire, childs. He can keep Mr. Robot so WARM.

You know what would have helped is if this came in a red, white, blue color scheme.

We know. And, like the Limbo marbles “joke”, we have another two weeks of this to put up with. Oh well, it’s not hurting anyone and once you see it, you can ignore it

Yeah, and that’s what’s sticking in their collective craw.

Neat little jetpack, by the way.

More's the pity. We need an official Santa Bat!

This jetpack has absolutely no connection to Kang whatsoever, why is it in this calendar?

I really wish they had included the helmet. Had they done that, it might have pushed me to buy this AC as well as a couple of the others. The unique Black Widow and Spider minifigs were tempting, but kind of like last year with Starlord, I really wish they had offered both with and without helmet options (they did with Iron Man/Tony Stark originally). I happen to own the without helmet versions of both Starlord and Captain America, and would have been much more tempted if the helmet was included. A significant portion of this AC seems like somewhat of a rehash of the successful Marvel first one a couple of years ago, therefore I considered what you get to be a bit too redundant.
