Marvel Advent Calendar - Day 11
Posted by CapnRex101,I think yesterday's jetpack was the weakest item from the Avengers Advent Calendar thus far, but that should herald an inevitable improvement on day eleven.
Let's open the window to make certain...
Fireplaces are another regular feature of LEGO Advent Calendars, having already appeared in the City calendar yesterday. This example is somewhat lacking in texture, but its general shape looks good and I like the reddish brown and pearl gold accents. In addition, Mjölnir is attached to the chimney breast, which provides some Marvel theming, at least.
This model also includes clips on either side, like the wrapping station that appeared a few days ago. The pair connect together and their designs are fairly consistent, although positioning the wrapping station right beside the fireplace seems strange. Nevertheless, the option is useful.
Overall - While this fireplace is quite substantial and I like the addition of Mjölnir, the design is otherwise bland.

I mentioned a few days ago that these models are off from the Hall of Armor: the clip pieces should be moved to the second row from the back of you want them to interconnect consistently.
This is the screwy one because you can't move the 1x2 male clip around on this one. Bring the whole model one row forward on the 4x4 base and the problem is solved.
Dang!
Minimalist is not bland. I actually like this one more if the brown and gold is removed and replaced by LBG. If you put too many christmassy flowers, stockings or stars on it then you lose sight of the main decorative feature - Mjölnir.
I think I would have gone with reddish brown 1x1 round plates to look a bit more wood like in the fire, possibly even just one of them so that the flames were different heights.
With Mjölnir hanging over it like that like this is an objectively worthy build. Can’t argue with the magic hammer
The chimney…what? Is that actually the proper term? Seems so weird. Anyways, wrapping station next to the fireplace means you have a handy “trashcan” to dispose of any failed attempts at wrapping presents.

That is convenient and a good observation.
Considering this fireplace is in a glass-and-steel, bleeding-edge tech skyscraper, it would make sense that the fireplace would exhaust into a ventilation system, which is why it tapers at the top instead of ending in a smokestack.
Ah yes... the Bat-forge. Very useful for when you need to create authentic medieval bat-weaponry and bat-plate-armor in a pinch.
And put it next to the costuming section whilst you're at it. Because who needs fire safety when you're a billionaire?

If you're as bad at cutting wrapping paper as me, it's just convenient to feed the fire all your botched attempts.

If you're familiar with your Avengers lore (specifically Avengers 244: Through The Fire And Kangs), you may recognize this fireplace as a fixture in the home of He Who Remains. After eliminating Thor in another timeline, he found a way to fix Mjolnir to the fireplace as a trophy of sorts. There it lies, as a memento of one of his countless battles - and provides a convenience means of hanging stockings over the fire.
How was he able to move the god of thunder's immovable hammer? Don't worry, that will be explained in Avengers 245: A Minor In-Kang-venience.
The folks who apparently take issue with my Disnerland-flavored comments will presumably be pleased to learn that I'm drawing a blank today. For the rest, just let the information that the Disnerland version of Thor is known as "Floor" bounce around in your head for a while.
Needs a yule log.

I just watched the Guardians 3 film and the rabbit in there is named Floor. There's something weirdly fitting about that. And dark. Very, very dark.
Why is that wall mount worthy to lift Mjolnir?

Yeah, people complained up and down, left and right, twelve ways from Sunday about the DC films being “too grimdark”, and then GotG3 comes along and says, “Hold my beer.” I have a coworker who said he went home afterwards and hugged his cat.
Well, this is.... ok... which for MAC means it's AWESOME! Everything is awesome. :/

Why wouldn't it be? Do you have something against wall mounts? Don't be a fastener racist.
